ya looking at your picture I do see the diff. but I do not have that pixelation in my firefox.
.Xresources has nothing to do with gtk
I do want to let sites choose their own fonts though.
When I look closely on my screenshot I wonder if it's even the same font though (the "3" looks very different).
Perhaps that's where the problem lies.
If I force firefox to use Arial, it looks good. If I set it to Helvetica which seems to be the font used, it looks like in the screenshot - pixelated.
    $ fc-match helvetica

Seems it doesn't use truetype (helvetica.ttf?) as default font for helvetica - shouldn't it?

Drop shadows, borders etc are a bad idea in that they increase the file size and the download time of your page.
Create your image, drop shadow etc on your iWeb page, take a screenshot, crop it and replace the original image with the, much reduced, JPEG>

  • I have a Mac and told to download Firefox to help me access an online course whose website was developed for a windows platform. What do I do to get my Mac to work w/the website?

I'm new to Firefox. I was told to download Firefox to help me access a website I'm to use for a course. Unfortunately, I found the course website says I can't access it w/Mac. It says the Website was developed for a Windows platform. Mac people have told me I can try Firefox. I have and it still doesn't give me access to the course material I need for a job. I'm not sure I'm using Firefox correctly. Any suggestions?

You can try installing the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/ User Agent Switcher] add-on. This lets you change your browser's "User Agent" header so that it will tell the server that it is a Windows browser.

  • SpeedBit has ruined all my programs. Can't Open/Run programs including using my FAVORITE BROWSER---MOZILLA FIREFOX. HELP!!! PLEASE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

I do not know what all started everything. I have been using Mozilla Firefox as my #1, favorite and of course my preferred browser over Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera...It is just awesome. Also, I had been using DAP 10 Premium downloader, SpeedBit downloader and converter. Everything to go well for over 1 year. Then all of a sudden, sometime about 2 months ago, I opened my browser, tried to run it so that I may go online. Lo and behold I received a message saying: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SpeedBit\SBUpdate\sbfi32.dll is missing. Try re-installing the program again to correct the problem. Well I did--- probably at least 20 times, but no help, It did not work. Now, I can't even open most of my programs/software because the same message keeps popping up. I personally think that something should be done to those who wrote the program--if they intended something malicious [in] the software--I REALLY NEED HELP!!!

    Hello,
Please download and run the following file http://download.speedbit.com/sbw.exe and please let us know if the problem with your browser is solved. (If not, kindly click on the Windows "Start" and type services.msc in the Search field, find "Speedbit Update service" in the opened window and disable it.)
    Kind regards,

  • I can log into my yahoo home page using Firefox. I can't link from my yahoo page to yahoo mail using Firefox. Help!

I get a failure message saying: “The requested URL /mc/welcome was not found on this server. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 3.6 and then upgraded to Firefox 4. Firefox appears to function okay in all my other browsing use. If I use IE as a browser The yahoo mail link functions correctly. I suspect that Firefox or an add-on that I don’t see listed under tools/ add-ons may be rejecting the URL “redirect” as a Phishing .attempt??? This has been going on for 2 weeks several attempts a day. Don’t just say the server is busy , try later because Firefox fails, IE works as well as the IE Tab for Firefox problem revolves around Firefox and yahoo email. I have run Norton and Spy sweeper too no problems. When I enable the Google toolbar I will get a similar error "Oops! This link appears broken." Any Help GREATLY appreciated!

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file ''cookies.sqlite'' that stores the cookies is corrupted.
You can rename (or delete) '''cookies.sqlite''' (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete '''cookies.sqlite-journal''' and '''cookies.txt''', if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • I have my settings correct, but my app tabs, or previous session tabs STILL disappear whenever I close Firefox. Help?

    1. I have a basic MacBook.
    2. I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.
    3. Under Firefox, I have my preference settings set on "When Firefox starts 'show my windows and tabs from last time'."
    4. I have privacy settings set to "Tell websites I do not want to be tracked." and "Firefox will remember history."
Whenever I close Firefox (by clicking on the red dot at the top of the window OR by clicking 'quit Firefox' from the menu) and reopen it, it shows only my home page.
None of my tabs are saved - including the new app tabs (which sounded like something I'd like!) I don't have any trouble pinning the app tabs, but they don't stick. Or pin, that is. :) Nor can I get a restored browsing session.
This is something I can live with, but it's frustrating. Any suggestions?
    Wendy

'''''"I cannot get Tabs from previous session back when I reopen Firefox"'''''
Be sure that you are not using Private Browsing or are in permanent Private Browsing mode. See: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Private%20Browsing (2nd and 3rd menu items on that page)
Be sure you are not clearing history during a session or when closing Firefox. See:
    *Clear Recent History: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History
*Clear History when Firefox closes: un-check "Clear history when Firefox closes" on Options > Privacy panel (the first item under "History" on that panel must be set to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history" to see that item to un-check)
'''''"there is no Firefox Tab at the top of my open Firefox window - only a menu bar"'''''
The Firefox button is supposed to be on by default only in Vista and Windows 7.
In Firefox 4, you have your choice of using the Firefox button (orange or gray) in the upper left corner or the Menu Bar (''File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools. Help'').
*The selections on the Firefox button are different from the selections on the Menu Bar.
*You can easily switch back and forth between the Firefox button and the Menu Bar or leave one or the other active.
*The one being used depends on whether Menu Bar is checked
**Menu Bar '''checked''' = Menu Bar '''on''', Firefox button '''off'''
**Menu Bar '''un-checked''' = Menu Bar '''off''', Firefox button '''on'''
When the Firefox button is displayed and '''you want to ''temporarily'' display and use the Menu Bar''', pressing the ALT or F10 key will display the Menu Bar and you can make your selections from the temporarily displayed Menu Bar.
To check (or un-check) Menu Bar, do one of the following:
*using Firefox button: click Firefox button > Options > Menu Bar
*using the Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
*HOLD down the ALT key while pressing the keyboard letters VTM

  • Adobe Flash player keeps crashing, but it's up to date on my computer. So is Firefox. Help?

For some reason, starting today, every page I visit on Firefox (no matter what) comes up with a notification that the Adobe Flash Player plugin has crashed. It started when I was trying to attach a word document to an email to one of my professors on my Google-supported school email account. Every time I tried to attach the document, Flash Player crashed and it wouldn't upload. I finally had to send it using my Live email, which worked, but now Flash Player crashes on every webpage I visit in about 2 seconds. My Flash Player is up to date, as is my version of Firefox. What's going on here? (Note: None of the information of the "Adobe Flash Player has crashed" page was helpful at all.)

Yes, this has been a problem for a lot of people. ADOBE just released Flash Player 11.0.1.152, and that seems to have fixed the problem. It still am finding it a bit laggy to load Flash scripts, but it no longer displays the crashed window.
You can download the file from the official Flash website here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • I can't open an image in Firefox, please help..

I am using Firefox 11 UK edition on a HP Laptop running Windows 7.
I like to view images in FF instead of Micro-craps image viewer programs. Until recently I had no problem with that. I would right click on the image and select open with FF. Today all of a sudden it wont do it.
Today when I right click FF is not an option. When I do the browse thing and choose the program manually nothing happens at all.
I mean nothing at all, its like windows doesn't see FF at all. It is very frustrating.
The image will then open in MS Image Viewer.
What is so off is it will allow me to use ANY other program even programs that not designed for it. (I will just get an error of course when it tried to open).
It almost appears as though MS has done something to purposely not allow FF to do this.
    Please help!

    PLEASE HELP  THANKS IN ADVANCE

Hi, Just got my Internet connection back! Without knowing what add ons/plugins/extensions you have in FF, it is difficult
for me to say what else may be conflicting.
Other than that, your choices are either Uninstall 3.6.10 and Install a version that wasn't giving you a problem. You could Install the FF beta.
Mozilla has a list of many extensions that conflict with FF if you want that link to look over. One of the other links has to do with other issues that may be helpful.
Let me know and I'll post those to you.
