IE7 messing up content

Weird, weird, weird. When viewing Flash content in IE7 (and
this happens only in IE7), a graphic (movieclip) that is embedded
in the swf gets repositioned. Sometimes a text field (static text,
filters applied) gets repositioned too. It then only shows the top
part of the text field. The problem is not consistent but occurs
frequently.
I've never seen anything like this before, so, anyone who has
seen this and more importantly, is there a known fix for this
issue?

Thanks for the link to the other topic. If I did get the second widget when I updated to 4.4.4, I must have just removed it from the home screen and never given it a second thought. As far as with the Music update, I still had the older widget on my home screen before I uninstalled Music, so I didn't notice, however over on the Google+ Walkman Beta Test community I did notice a post about the new Music app (not sure if it's the just released version or an older beta) complaining about the same thing, so I'd say no, the progress bar and start/end times are still missing from the widget. Here's the picture from Google+.

  • IE7 prevents loading content in iframes

    Anyone else come across this new problem?
    I normally use the code
    <iframe src="queens_observatory_01.swf" name="panoholder"
    align="middle" width="485" height="320" frameborder="0"
    id="panoholder"> </iframe>
    and then load many individual swf files into the iframe using
    target
    'panoholder'
    Worked great until I upgraded my browser to IE7 and now the
    only way to
    show flash or quicktime is using something like
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
    codebase="
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#v..."
    width="715" height="184" title="pano">
    <param name="movie" value="cityhall_index.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <embed src="cityhall_index.swf" quality="high"
    pluginspage="
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="715"
    height="184"></embed>
    </object>
    How on earth do I target that?
    target 'panoholder' still workes great with Netscape 8,
    Firefox and IE6
    but 90% of my site visitors use IE and will probably also
    upgrade to 7
    within the next 6 months.
    Also, is it compulsory that the browser has to be closed and
    reopened after a user has upgraded their flash viewer in order for
    it to work?
    Andrew

    Last night, my automatic update feature on windows xp asked
    me if I wanted to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7.
    Looks like my time frame of 6 months has been cut a little
    short don't you think?
    Will be keeping an eye out for a flood of similar posts and
    perhaps a solution.

  • Dreamweaver embedded flash content will not load in IE7

    My company standard is IE7
    I'm charged with developing flv that will auto play on PC from a removable thumb drive.
    in addition it should be able to launch a url.
    I'm using CS4 Flash and Dreamweaver
    developing on a Mac.
    I've used action script 3 to program buttons that start, stop and launch url
    I've worked everything out on a Mac.it works fine in Mac environment.
    I've gotten swf files to autoplay on PC
    the PROBLEM?
    when I try load the html web page on the PC with IE7 the flash content (either a swf or flv embedded using Dreamweaver) does not load.
    IF I leave the IE specific html in the code IE7 returns a message that flash player needs to update. - IT has installed the latest version of flash player.
    if I extract the sniffer/alternative code the flash content does not load there is no message
    If the swf file auto loads and plays then Why is that a problem?
    action script -  to launch url execution launches as a security warning and the trusted settings window
    not very seamless eh?
    so the alternative is to play the flash content embedded in html and create launch url button in html . . . but ofcourse flash content won't load in IE7.
    I've not been able to test the code on any other version of IE
    I hope this is enough information to help if not let me know what you need to know . . .

    So right now you have a SWF file that plays and FLV file and it's not loading in IE7.  Is the testing server that you are using NOT on your local machine?  The reason I ask this is because IE will typically block content if it is hosted on the local machine and treat it as a security risk, prompting the message you refer to.
    Also would it be possible for us to see the code you are using for the plugin?  Most users here will be able to help troubleshoot any issues with the HTML code if we can see it, however, there is a possibility that the fix may be in Flash, in which case you should cross-post this in the Flash forum as well for assistance just in case.

    To the moderator I apologize for an earlier "test" post I was unaware nay ignorant of a test forum . . .

    I am having the very same problem and have done exactly the same... generated my html through flash professional CS5.  It works great in IE8 but is just a blank page in IE7.  You did not post the solution, did you find one?
    My flash generated code is here http://www.asessippi.com/test/calendar.html will all of the supporting files in the same folder, and nothing else in there.

  • Flash preloader freezes when refreshed in IE7

    Ok, I know there are a lot of known issues with IE7 and
    active content, but this is a new one to me, and I am really,
    really hoping someone may know what is causing this...
    I have a small online web site set up in HTML, but I have the
    portfolio section set up in flash .swf, and naturally, there is a
    preloader for this .swf file.
    I already have a java script code to override the "click to
    activate" issue with IE7, so that issue is taken care of. The
    preloader works fine initially in all browsers and that includes
    IE7, BUT if the user navigates away from the portfolio using the
    top nav bar, and returns to the portfolio, the preloader freezes at
    what looks like 99% as the image i used is completely colored in.
    In order to advance, the user must then right click on the flash
    movie and select "forward" to get to the frame containing the
    content. This only happens in IE7, clicking links back and forth
    does not create adverse effects in any other browsing setup.
    I have the preloader set up on frame 1 of Scene 1 in multiple
    layers, and i have the bottom layer labeled "content" where on
    frame one, it is an empty keyframe, and then on frame 2 of that
    layer I have the main_mc movie clip with all navigation and content
    placed, and all layers above that have been converted to empty
    keyframes on frame 2.
    Here is the AS3 code I am using for the preloader on frame
    one of the main stage:
    stop();
    this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS,
    onProgress);
    this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete);
    function onProgress(e:ProgressEvent):void
    var loaded:Number = e.target.bytesLoaded;
    var total:Number = e.target.bytesTotal;
    var pct:Number = loaded/total;
    loader_mc.scaleX = pct;
    loaded_txt.text = "loading portfolio..." + (Math.round(pct *
    100)) + "%";
    function onComplete(e:Event):void
    gotoAndStop(2);
    I have also tried:
    function onComplete(e:Event):void
    nextFrame();
    but that has caused no difference with the issue.
    Any Ideas, tips or tricks?? I am a recent graduate looking
    for a job, and I feel like this issue has potential to hold me
    back...thank you to anyone in advance.

    If your using javascript to ebmed the movie, try this
    yourswfName.swf?t= new Date().getTime()
    if php
    yourswfName.swf?t= php echo date("Y-m-d H:i:s")
    I call it a cache buster, you can make a function and have it
    append to the swf file name. it is some caching issue with ie7 and
    flash player 9 so your adding a timestamp to the end of the file
    name, making the browser reload the video.
    also if the video is already loaded, and the user comes back
    to the page. It could be already loaded. Then there is no need for
    the preloader. Mabey put something in your code that says if bytes
    loaded == bytes total skip preloader and just play.
    hope that helps ya

  • IE7 blocks Spry Menubar

    With IE7 deliberately reset to default manufacturer's
    settings, I preview my page containing a Spry Menubar and a pop-up
    warning at the top of page states "to help protect your security,
    Internet Explorer has prevented this page from running scripts or
    active X controls... etc". Obviously I can click to allow, or I can
    adjust the settings to allow, but I want users to be able to run
    the page without having to do that. Firefox works fine, of course.
    I tried running a copy of the page without the widget and no pop up
    block occurs. Does that mean I cannot use this Spry widget if I am
    to avoid hassle for IE7 users? Any help much appreciated.

    Another solution, available in Dreamweaver 8 and CS3, is to
    use Commands
    > Insert Mark of the Web on affected pages. This inserts
    a snippet of
    code that stops IE from complaining. Although leaving the
    snippet of
    code in your page does no harm, you can remove it by running
    Commands >
    Remove Mark of the Web just before uploading your page to the
    remote server.
    For more information, Google "Mark of the Web".

  • Float Drop

    I am having a float drop issue in IE6 (at least that's what I

  • Default Charset with Non-English

    I thought it might be the old FAQ. But I tried find out the answer from google or others. That's all the old answer.
    OS: Leopard,
    Application: Apple Mail
    Environment: Chinese, Big5
    Problem desc,
    Due to I need to write the chnese mail to the other people who use the Outlook or other mail client not Mac.
    The problem happened, They always get the mess mail content from me.
    I know I can adjust the charset before I send out the mail.
    But sometimes, I can not change the charset, the Mail will tell me my content include different something which can not send by BIG5.
    Then that force me to change to Thunderbird.
    I also tried to change the default "NSPreferredMailCharset" to "BIG5". But it seems not work in Leopard.
    So please tell me what can I do to avoid this situation. I want to use the Apple Mail instead of TB.

    You can also try UTF-8 if Big5 does not fit what you need to send. Also always send Plain Text instead of Rich Text if possible, to avoid various bugs in Outlook. Sometimes the only fix is to use another mail client.
    Also you can ask on the chinese-mac mailing list:

    Hi people.
    I have some problems trying to use a function in pl/sql with a CLOB parameter to a java source function.
    Here is the problem: I have to read a TXT file and return a CLOB with the data of the file. The reading is done with a java source function.
    The problem is how to read the file without messing the content and return it to the pl/sql function?
    Another problem: If I pass a CLOB as a parameter to a pl/sql function and have to write the content to a file, how to do it without screwing the EOL chars and so?

  • Shockwave crashes system in limited user account

    I am having a problem with shockwave content playing on my
    system. I have followed every single step in this article kb403082,
    except for formatting my system and reinstalling windows and
    shockwave alone (atomic bomb option). I couldn't do step 5
    completely because there is no FlexNet Licensing Service listed.
    The problem is that when I am in my admin account everything
    runs fine. When I install, play or open an application with
    Shockwave content (ie, Bookshelf 2000), everything plays nicely.
    When I log into my Limited User Account (Power User option when
    created) and either open Bookshelf 2000 or open a website in IE7
    with shockwave content then the entire system freezes and I have to
    reboot.
    I don't understand what it is about the limited user account
    that is causing this, but it makes me believe that Shockwave needs
    to access some system level component that is blocked in a limited
    user account and it is causing the crash.

    Wow, I just fixed my problem. I had the latest drivers for

    Either way problem solved. Odd.

  • WRT300N v1 Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    An intermittent problem occurs where occasionally during browsing the web I'll get an Internet Explorer "cannot display the webpage" and then I reload the page and often it works on the reload.  The problem is very frequent and so nearly every webpage I try to open I have to reload in order to access it.
    A temporary fix is unplugging the WRT300N v1 and plugging it back in.  For a while, it works fine, but eventually the problem creeps up again.
    I have firmware v 1.03.3
    I've got two laptops, one Mac running OS 10.x and one Dell running Vista.  I also have a desktop PC running XP.  The two laptops use the wireless connection.  The PC uses a wired connection.  All 3 computers experience this same problem browsing web pages.
    I've  read the forums and mostly I've seen people talking about problems with the WRT300N v1 as far as the wireless connection, but this time I'm having issues even with the wired connection, so I feel that this issue isn't addressed, or at least I haven't found where it was addressed.
    How do I fix this issue permanently?

    I too am having the same problem. I used another system with IE7 installed and found that many sites that were "unable to be displayed" were accessed with IE7 on a differant computer system running Windows XP.
    I realize it could be a router thing as well....but after i went through all the tech help i could find online it still did not solve the problem. I decided to work it out myself.
    I found my solution when trying to go to sites with mp3 files on them.  Thats when i discovered that with Windows Vista I had to manually select what program applications would be used to perform IE7 features (webpage content) in order for the pages to load properly.
    To do this in Windows Vista - just go to Start / Program Defaults / Set Program Access and defaults  From there you can select which programs to open if IE7 cant handle the file extention on its on.  That was my problem all along.
    You may have to go as far as setting your file associations in Windows Explorer.  Windows Vista had set the file extension .php to open with Windows Photo Gallery.
    I am still going through all the file types and finding file extentions that are configured wrong within Windows Vista.
    UPDATE:  I had problems opening webpages from links from online searches that were within various forums and also on websites that required a login but popup a separate window to login to.  I don't know if you have the same problem with these sites.
    I uninstalled a Windows Update (kb927143) and can now access those.  I know this could be risky but I still have my firewall and antivirus running. Until IE7 is fixed its the only choice I have.
    To do this in Vista....go to Control Panel ... Programs and Features...then click view installed updates.  You will find it there if you have it installed.  From there you can uninstall it.
    Hope this helps you to solve your problem.

    Why not use the synchronize function? That way you never need
    to
    remember what was just update and where it lives. DW will
    check over the
    site and show a list of all files it thinks should be
    updated. If you
    don't want one changed, option to not update is there.

    and, I suspect, especially folks with old hardware and software.
    So I'm going to wander the web to learn what is GUI, to understand partitions,
    what is dmg ?
    and, as in the question above,  what to delete from Tiger.
    My G3 has both OS 9 and OS 10, I kept 9 for a printer driver and to avoid messing with content.
    I'm thinking that I can use the passport for the old Word for Mac and the Canon inkjet that is
    compatible with the laptop, and use the internal drive with Snow Leopard for Firefox.
    Thanks folks, especially noondaywitch,  for attentive support.

    This is more an edit than a reply, but edit is not an option.

  • SDN eLearning Process needs to change

    Ok I'm going to rant a little bit about the SDN eLearning content creation and hosting process. Some of this is behind the scenes stuff, but it ultimately effects every user of SDN.
    I've always wanted to do more video based content.  I feel that it is an excellent way to demonstrate the useage of coding tools and the product itself.  However the process for submitting an eLearning to SDN takes at best weeks and somethings months before it gets posted to the public.  This makes it completely unusable for any type of regular video blogging. For the most recent Video Blog series that NetWeaver PM did we had to upload our videos to SAP's Temporary Download Service (100 days max) while we wait for the permanent hosting on SDN.
    This is why I was happy to try out the Kyte.tv service last year.  It make instant posting possible.  Unfortunetely the size and resolution limitations aren't really sufficient to showing coding and complex screens in details.
    So SDN can support the larger size needed, but the process seems broken.  To make matters worse, all the older videos used to be produced in an SDN provided tool called knowledge composer. This provided a unified look and feel, but now causes the technical problem that all the older vidoes can't be viewed in IE7.  The content authors now get the questions as to why the content can't be viewed.  I don't know who is going to do the work of converting all these old videos?
    To fix the problem of the Knowledge Composer, we now don't have any tool to format the output.  Our team in US PM uses Camtasia 4 while other groups use Captiva or different versions of Camtasia. This creates different looks for the eLearnings.  There also aren't good guidelines as to the video format, size, compression options, etc.
    So in the end I have a wish list of things I would love to see around eLearning:
    1.  We need a faster way to get videos available
    2.  We need to address the older videos that can't viewed in newer browsers
    3. The videos need a download option for people with low bandwidth to be able to view them offline.
    4.  The resolution of the video itself needs to stay at 1024x768 minimum otherwise the level of detail is not good enough for eLearning- also must support the lenght of an hour+ (also speaks to download ability).
    5.  We need guidelines on formatting or a common tool
    I welcome other suggestions from frequent users of the eLearning area of SDN.

    Your feedback is noted.  In the era of "anyone can be a content creator" some have come to expect somewhat less than polished or professional results from recordings made by community contributors.  But I totally get you.  Our rich media team does too and they are working hard and long to create more consistent content and delivery methods.  Looking at the various "elearning" assets here is like taking a  tour through the brief history of our media enriched methods and it definitely is a journey.  I, like you, have little tolerance for poor sound quality and I will even go as far as to say that "elearning" is not the proper terminology to use for it, as learning usually is associated with assessment and iterative interactions.  Our rich media contents are passive, do not assess or test the users knowledge, do not gauge if the learning has occurred.  On the other hand, the use of podcasts or video casts can be an effective way to tell a story, represent something that would generally take much text in the telling or simply document a live event, meetup, workshop, or lecture.
    As to delivery: It all comes down to learning preferences.
    Not everyone is skilled in the use of the screencam tools or video editing but not everyone learns from the same content delivery either.
    In short, we will continue to provide contents in multiple formats and with the help of our media folks (like Jason Lax) work to improve the quality of their delivery.   Understand though that these contents will constantly be "under construction" as technologies improve and change.
    Perhaps we should start "retiring" content that is not meeting expectations, but then again, we would need a real rating system to do that.

  • DVDSP3

    Does Dvd Studio pro 3 work with intel macs? I just upgraded and the program installs fine and seems to work perfectly, exept the motion part of the dvd templates. That just goes to gray when I hit the motion button. I have tried to reinstall it many times and even mess with content locations.
    Any suggestions?
    I really don't want to buy that huge final cut suite.

    DVD SP 3 is not officially supported on Intel Macs, only the Universal Binary versions 4.1.x+ (4.0.x is none Universal). People have got in running on Intel Macs, but this is more of a heads up. Ditto for running it with Leopard, I would not count on it being reliable.
