If I access the website of Cebu Pacific Air I get as reply upon entering a search request "HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.", but if i use private browsing i do not get this reply. This refers to Firefox 5.0 on ubuntu 11.04
I have tried to resolve this through deleting history and the cookies, but i always get the same reply. Although if i use firefox (ubuntu) private browsing or Firefox on Windows 7 i do not get this error message.
What causes this error and how do i resolve this?

I Use Private Browsing Always, and Still Get Sanitize.js:136 Error

All add-ons, extensions, plug-ins, and Firefox itself (v. 7.0.1) are up-to-date. I ALWAYS use Private Browsing, but still get the chrome://browser/content/sanitize.js:136 error. After "exiting" Firefox, Firefox refuses to close right away. I either wait for it to close, or I have to use the Task Manager to shut it down by force. Firefox is also using phenomenal amounts of Memory or CPU at times. Tonight, after closing Firefox out and literally 10 minutes later, I got the above Sanitize error. There have been other javascript errors ever since updating to v. 7 of Firefox, but I don't remember them offhand. I get MANY of them while using Facebook, but lately haven't even visited Facebook. I haven't seen any other users post this particular problem while using Private Browsing, so thought I'd give it a whirl. Hi, cor-el, and thanks for your reply. I do remember at one point in time (was quite a while ago) when the Plugin Container was a real problem. If I remember correctly the problem I was having, Plugin Container would still be running in Task Manager after closing out Firefox (sometimes even more than one Plugin Container). Looking over the link for Plugin-container you provided, I checked to see how mine are set and they are all set at "false."
As far as Clear Recent History, I can't. My Firefox browser is set for Permanent Private Browsing and I see nothing to clear.
Today, I've used Facebook and took screenshots of the js errors I get there. These errors virtually make Firefox unusable. By this, I mean, it locks up and becomes unresponsive. See attached.

I use private browsing and passowords not remembered. yet after closing all firefox windows, i can access facebook and hotmail w/o my login info being requested

Are you automatically reopening windows from the previous session via session restore?

You can set the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level pref to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore.

Am I the only one that has safari restart every few minutes when using private browsing?

I have no idea why, but when I use private browsing on safari, it seems to have a mind of it's own once and a while. Randomly, it decides to quit without the "quit unexpectidly" part normally found in this issue, and when I go back onto safari, all of the tabs I had open are no longer there.

When I swap to private browsing firefox allows me to anter the website address directly into the location bar - but this is a slow [prcess to swap back and forth - also by dint of using private browsing I loose my website information.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

One more quick thing first. Hold the SHIFT key this time as you startup and see if that gets you any further (this is called 'Safe Mode' by the way). I'm not too confident that this will work in your case but it's worth a try. If it boots up, go into Disk Utility and repair permissions.
If it doesn't, you're going to have to do an Archive & Install which will install a fresh copy of the OS over the top BUT keep all your users, files and apps in place.

Why when using private browsing does Safari still remember websites visited?

Even when private browsing is selected on my MacBook and iPad2, websites visited are remembered and displayed in history. Why is this?

When you use Private Browsing windows, Safari doesn’t save your browsing history, and it asks websites you visit not to track you.
Use Private Browsing:
Choose File > New Private Window, or switch to a Safari window that’s already using Private Browsing. A window that’s using Private Browsing has a dark address and search field with white text.
When you use a Private Browsing window:
Each tab in the window is isolated from the others, so websites you view in one tab can’t track your browsing in other tabs.
Safari doesn’t remember the webpages you visit or your AutoFill information.

I have got the same behaviour after the last Safari Update to 5.1.3. It seems that Safari now handles some scripts in a new way. If you debug the Google Website, you will see, that there is some Javascript Error, that seems to prevent to write into local cache. After some searching I wasn't able to finde a solution for this problem, other then disabling Javascript while private browsing to prevent the script loading. You then are able to use Google with the old layout. The option to disable JavaScript can be found in the Menu "Developer", wich has to be enabled in Safari in the options first.
In my opinion this is a bug that is now occuring, because Apple changed something in private browsing and that has to be fixed by Google now, to run again. Or we will have to wait for 5.1.4, as you can read online Apple will change and bugfix the javascript engine in that version, perhaps this fixes the problem as well. I hope so!
If anyone is in the developer program perhaps you could test this with the beta of 5.1.4 and tell us if it works.

Why is data being retained in the Firefox Internet cache when I always use Private Browsing ?

OS Windows 7, using Firefox 33.1.1. I have set "Never remember history" so always use Private Browsing mode. I use CCleaner to delete unwanted files from my PC on each reboot, and notice that despite using private browsing mode CCleaner is deleting files every reboot from Firefox's Internet Cache. This morning, for example, there were 203 files with 2805 KB of data deleted by CC Cleaner from the Firefox Internet cache. What data is Firefox storing there from private browsing sessions?

If you are in private browsing mode then the location for disk cache should be empty and show the same as the memory cache.
Are you sure that this is the disk cache as there is more stored at the location where the disk cache is located?

Note that plugins may always store data on disk in their own cache.

Safari loads and the crashes after using Private Browsing

I am finding that Safari won't load after using private browsing. After switching off private browsing, I load Safari but as soon as it appears on the screen, it crashes. No matter how many times I start it up, it will always disappera.
The only way to fix it is to shut down and then start up the iPad again.
Anyone know why this is happening?

If you search the discussion site, you will find a number of threads regarding crashing issues with Safari since the iOS 5 update. It seems to be more prevalent in the iPad 1 - which I have and I experience crashes as well - but I have seen no definitive solution.
I have read that from some users that you should turn off bookmark syncing with iCloud, turn off private browsing, restart the iPad .... but nothing I have tried has eliminated the problem.
For now, it seems to be - whatever works for you is the "fix" until it really gets fixed.

I can't open a PP project without this error message appearing:
"The preset used by one or more sequences in this project requires third-party components that could not be located. These sequences will be modified to use a custom sequence setting instead. To continue editing using the original preset, quit the application without saving the project, reinstall any third-party components that are required and reopen the project".
What I had been doing before this occurred was editing a PP project using ProRes sequences and multi-camera editing. Multi-camera was not working very well and after a few attempts to fix that I gave up and finished the job cutting 3 layers of video instead. AME refused to render the three finished sequences of over 1hr duration so rendered final videos from the PP sequences.
I tried deleting plists for AME, PP and QT, repairing disc permissions and rebooting but there was no improvement.
Client is satisfied for now but will want to come back to this job at a later date so decided to uninstall and re-install AME and PP in the hope both would be ready to work properly when needed again. AME works fine in conjunction with a different PP project but now I can't open the PP project in question without the above error message appearing.
Having searched the net it would seem that the problem may be caused by ProRes but I haven't been able to find a definitive solution for the problem. Does anyone know either:
1. How to fix this?
2. If I chose the "modified using a custom sequence setting", can I be sure that my sequences will look the same even if they don't use ProRes? The final deliverable format will be mp4 so as long as the overall look doesn't change then I can afford a change in the edit codec. It's just that with three sequences over an hour long, I don't want days of work to be ruined.
Other older PP projects of mine open and work fine.

Open the PP project.
Export your sequence or project as a Final Cut Pro XML file.
Set up a new PP project.
Import the Final Cut Pro XML file.
This will get you back up an running.
Since getting back to editing this project I have found that some things will be lost or change in using XML:
You will lose position key framing, black video clips, dissolve fx, audio levels, audio dynamic fx, the ability to open a multi camera clip and change the camera view.
You will keep cut points, crop fx.
Not perfect but only took a couple of hours to save 3 days work.

The option to use private browsing is missing in the dropdown listo I think this happened after I down loaded an app that was supposed to help me shutdown private browsing since I didnt know how to do it. I dont remember which app it was. But either way its gone now..

Unfortunately Firefox doesn't have an option to open a private tab in the current regular window.
You have to open a new private window for private browsing.

I can't be sure about this, but I'm guessing you have some kind of extension or plugin changing the behavior of Firefox. Try running Firefox in safe mode (to disable extensions and plugins) to see if this fixes the issue. If it does, you'll need to track down which extension or plugin is causing the problem (simply disable them one at a time). If this running in safe mode doesn't fix the issue, it's possible that some kind of about:config entry is causing the issue. Do this:
- type about:config in your address bar and press enter
- say "yes I'll be careful" if the browser asks you something
- now, search for "incredimail" (without the commas) to find any and all strings with it. Simply rightclick ALL of them and select Reset.
That should fix the issue.

I understand that some of your applications are not appearing under Settings > Cellular on your iPhone so that you can restrict or allow use of cellular data. If you have some installed applications on your iPhone that are not showing here, the first troubleshooting step I would suggest would be to reset your iPhone.
