If I Buy a New Ipod, Can I Transfer My Games?

I have a 3rd gen iPod Nano. I find myself playing the games more then listening to music, and have considered buying a 5th gen iPod. If I do, can I transfer the games currently on my iPod to the new iPod, or would I need to repurchase them again?

Games can be transfered to the new ipod, but being able to play them is game dependant. I am new to the ipod, but while searching games in itunes I noticed that not all games will not work on every system. I suggest going to itunes and looking up the specific game to see if the newer models are listed. This might also depend on the software version.

  • If I buy new IPOD can I transfer music from my existing itunes library?

I fear there is something wrong with my current ipod. It will not allow me to update from my existing library.
    Question:
If I just go out and buy a brand new ipod, will I be able to plug in to my computer, and then transfer all the music that is currently in my itunes library?
    Thank you for your reply.

so long as your ipod updater software and itunes meet the minimum system requirements for the ipod, it would be fine. (attractive beast downloads precisely the same music as mauve, from the same library. back in the day, all i had to do was upgrade my ipod software first.)

what's the problem with the current ipod? are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.

  • Buying a new iPod,,how can I transfer all my songs over?

My 30gb iPod which I've had since May of 2006 sad to say may be on it's last legs. It did not make it through my morning workout today, crapped out at the 15 minute mark. I think it was fully charged, the battery indicator showed a full charge when I started my workout, but it died right around the 15 minute mark of my workout.
So if I buy a new iPod, how do I get all my songs on it. I have over 5000 songs on iTunes (they're all backed up on my external hard drive too) and I just need to know what I would have to do to use a new iPod and upload my entire iTunes library.

    Hello blackhawks2488,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If all your music is located in your iTunes library, all you have to do is simply plug the iPod in, register it, set it up sync however you wish, actually sync it and be on your way.
There is no limit to the number of devices you can have synced with one iTunes library or account.

  • I want to buy the new iPod Nano to play audiobooks. Does it remember the postion where switch-off took place and resume from there? Can one rewind and replay freely?

I want to buy the new iPod Nano to play audiobooks. Does it remember the postion where switch-off took place and resume from there? Can one rewind and replay freely?

    1. Many thanks! I look forward to your revert on being able to freely rewind and replay with the 7th Gen iPod Nano.
    2. Re resuming from the position where one left off - I meant after switch-off and not merely pause. Often, with audiobooks, I have to stop for the day, and resume maybe after 1-2 days. I'll be grateful if you can check this too
    3. The above features make the iPod Classic a joy to use, but I have reservations about using it on walks because of its HDD.
    4. Greatly appreciate the trouble you are taking. Best regards.

  • Thinking of buying a new iPod, do I have to delete the songs already there?

    Hi
This is probably the completely wrong forum for this question, but I don't know exactly where to put it.
The thing is, I have an iPod mini (green) with 4 GB, which now is full and I am thinking of buying a 60 GB one. Last year I got a laptop, and when I was to connect my iPod to it, I had to delete all the music from the library in the stationary computer in order to install iTunes on the laptop. I tried to plug in the iPod to the laptop, but it only said that "This iPod unit belongs to another music library. Do you want to delete all content in order to download the new songs?" or something similar. This meant that I lost about 1200 songs, and pretty much had to start all over again.
Now that I'm thinking of buying a new iPod, I am wondering if anyone could answer me if I'll have to do the same thing as I did when I got the laptop. Does a new iPod belong to another music library, and can't just be set up with the one I've already got?
I'd really apriciate some help here, especially if someone have been in the same situation. It has to be possible to get a new iPod without having to delete all the songs you've saved in iTunes.
    Thanks
      Windows 2000

If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • They told me to just buy a new IPOD

Anyone else experience this? I purchased a 5th gen. 30gb IPOD 11/05. I also purchased the extended service plan should "life" happen. I recently found that my IPOD had completely died and I couldn't recharge it. I sent it back to Apple and it was immediately returned back to me infoming me that due to "external damage" my IPOD was being returned to me w/out being repaired. I called tech support and spoke to a live operator that informed that the pins were bent inside the the usb port on the bottom of my IPOD and as a result my IPOD was sent back to me. I told her I didn't understand this because I had never inserted anything in there other than an Appple USB cable and I didn't understand how that could cause the pins to be bent. I told her that none the less, I would gladly pay to have my IPOD repaired since it was now useless to me. I was told the only recourse was to go buy a new IPOD! I told her that my IPOD was 11 mos old and how could Apple just send me away and tell me to just go buy a new one? She told me that the only thing that Apple is willing to do is replace the IPODs not repair them and since the damage mine had received was external I was out of luck. The only thing she was willing to do was connect me to someone who would refund my money for my extended service plan. So I guess the good news is I'm only out my original $300.00. Anyone have any suggestions? No one will touch it as far as repairing it.

Uh yeah, Talk to customer relations. Your ipod is under warranty. You live in California and have a few decent remedies. IMHO it's quite easy for the dock pins to bend since you have to angle the ipod into the APPLE BRANDED dock to begin with. This is akin to a button not working because you used it. It's not regular wear, it's defective. Maybe the dock connector was weak to begin with. No idea. I have trouble believing somebody would try to make you buy a new one given your statements.
The best thing you can do is speak to someone else at Apple and clearly explain the situation while remaining calm. If it comes down to it, make it very clear that you would like Apple to provide proof in writing that the damage to your ipod was caused through direct abuse, misuse, or through actions exceeding the normal usage of the device (throwing it against a wall, etc.). There has to be proof that you caused the damage, and that it was not the result of a pre-existing defect for a warranty claim like that to be rejected. It's not your job to fix it. You paid for it and bought the warranty right?
Also call your credit card company and see if they have an extended warranty.
IMHO..just try again and be as nice as possible.
    Good Luck,
    -j
