If I buy an iMac computer will I be able to run Pinnacle 14 through Boot Camp
I am considering moving from Windows PC to an iMac machine and understand that Boot Camp allows the use of Windows programs. Would I be able to use Pinnacle 14 via this option ?
If you grabbed one of the current iMacs you'd have very little trouble playing almost any of the games currently on the market and a good many of the ones scheduled to arrive this year.
Boot Camp is really simple and easy to use so if you don't feel like buying the Mac versions of your games you can quite easily run them on Windows via Boot Camp. However, the Mac versions tend to be just as good as the PC versions (I would say at times they're even more stable).
As for XP or Vista, that's really your choice. The last specs I saw put XP as a better gaming OS than Vista, and for the longest time I forsook Vista for a performance build of XP Pro, but now I've actually started using Windows 7 to do some gaming and have found it to be a good competitor for XP.
That being said, if you're getting one of the newer Macs you're better off with Vista if only for the DDR3 RAM support which, I'm told, isn't found in XP. The RAM works just fine in XP but, again from what I've been told, Vista can use it to it's fullest.

Yes.

I have an iPhone 3gs and will be getting a new iPhone 4s. Once I have updated my existing 3gs with iCloud and backed up to my computer, will I be able to transfer my existing data to my new 4s using iCloud or will I need to do this from my iMac.
ThanksThe Apple genius at the Apple store told me this would work. It failed. Basically, updating your iPhone 3GS to iOS5 wipes your 3GS of its data so you can't really do this. Some data worked. Music, photos etc didn't work at all.
I suggest avoiding iCloud completely for a few weeks until Apple gets it working. -
I have a older Nano, I think I got it in 2004 or 2005 and I have a sad iPod icon, and it seems like my battery won't charge, the low battery icon appears but never seems to do anything. If I buy a new iPod will I be able to transfer my songs and playlists to the new one easily? Thanks.
If you are using automatic syncing to load the iPod, all songs on the iPod are in your iTunes music library. So, you won't need to transfer anything from the old nano. Just sync the new iPod from your iTunes library the same way.
If you use the Manually manage music setting, AND there are songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes music library, you will need to off-load songs to your computer first. You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer" you should get some links.
Also, if this is a 1st gen iPod nano, you can check this article to see if it applies to you

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram. Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion? What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible? Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense? I have an Epson R2000 printer. Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion? It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.
Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
Adobe lists these requirements:
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine. -
I will now buy and download adobe Photoshop for windows, but soon I am going to buy a mac. Will I be able to download my Photoshop CC on the new Notebook?
A creative Cloud membership provides you with the ability to have installations on different platforms, Windows and Mac. And since you are allowed to have two working installations, you can have one of each.

Once I upgrade my iMac 10.6.8 snowleoprd to mavericks will I be able to run my Adobe Lroom3 and Ps CS5.1 with no problems?
according to this reliable compatibility chart, they should run fine in Mavericks: http://roaringapps.com/apps
you can type in "lightroom" and "PS 5.1" in the search bar to see for yourself. -
I have an external HD with mostly mp3 music, but some important docs I need to keep, I want to buy a mac desktop, will I be able to use my HD on the mac
Yes, though if the drive is formatted as NTFS, Mac OS X will not be able to write to the drive without you either installing third-party NTFS drivers or reformatting the drive.

In order for me to take advantage of transferring files, music, docs I need a new mac 10.5 or later. My computer is 10.4.11. So in other words I need to buy a new computer? To be able to use icloud sufficiently?
Maybe, maybe not.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
For full iCloud you need 10.7 But the question really is, do you need all the things it does? I mean really? Oh, you don't mention if this question is in conjunction with some device you own. To whom and how are you transferring files? -
I have an iMac with Safari; will i be able to run LiveCycle and Designer? I cannot get past acceptance page. I want to use and update forms and it says I need Designer. I was trying the trial version but am having problems.
Is there an actual individual who can give me guidance? This "leave a question and come back days later" does not help.

If I buy a mac mini with a fusion drive and add windows using boot camp, can I make the SSD function be dedicated to the windows partition?
Additional information from Linc's post. Basically, only one additional partition can be added to a Fusion Drive and it resides on the HDD.
Do computers that come with a Fusion Drive support Boot Camp?
Yes. Use the Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition and install Boot Camp. The Windows partition will exist on the hard disk drive, not the Flash drive, and is not part of Fusion Drive Logical Volume Group. 3TB Fusion Drive configurations need to update to OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3 or later to install Windows 8. See iMac (27-inch, Late 2012): Boot Camp alert with 3T hard drive for more information. -

In addition to installing Windows in Boot Camp so that it will run instead of Mac OS X, you can also install Windows as a Virtual Machine so that Windows and the Mac OS can run at the same time. To use a Virtual Machine, you'd need software such as VMware Fusion, Parallels, or Virtual Box.
Note, however, that you may have some difficulty finding Windows 7 for sale. You may be stuck with Windows 8.1. -
Hello. Will I be able to run Windows XP on a virtual machine (such as VirtualBox) in Mountain Lion? Currently, I have a Late-2009 MacBook with Snow Leopard, and I am planning on installing VirtualBox and Windows XP soon, then I'm planning on upgrading to Mountain Lion afterwards. Thanks.
Yes.

If I update from OS X 4.1 to OS X 6.8 will I be able to run various software I was using on my defunct MacBook Pro running OS X 8?
It depends on whether or not the program supports 10.6.8. Some commercial software may need to be reinstalled from the original media/downloads.

Latest update says it won't run on my Mac (see question above) and current latest compatible version (3.6.17) will have full tech support for only a limited time now. Is there anything I can do to bring my Mac up to spec. Is it really a dinosaur already? Will I be able to run FF4.0 (or later) at a later dater date?
Any answers appreciated, thanks... BAh you have PPC version. Either you can keep using Firefox 3.6.* are try a third party version of Firefox 4.0.* at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
The Firefox 4.0 and newer downloads contains the 32-bit and 64-bit version for Intel at moment.
