Once I upgrade my iMac 10.6.8 snowleoprd to mavericks will I be able to run my Adobe Lroom3 and Ps CS5.1 with no problems?
according to this reliable compatibility chart, they should run fine in Mavericks: http://roaringapps.com/apps

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram. Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine. -

I am being asked to upgrade to iCloud Drive but indications are that I will not be able to access up to date details on any of my documents on my Mac without going into iCloud first. Have I got this interpretation right or can I save changes to access the new versions on my iMac?

is my iMac now useless as i have installed lion and i am no longer able to run cs2 photoshop and illustrator as this is all i use my mac for they should make this clear before buying it i can't afford the latest version of cs2 and cant believe what a waste of money it is.
The newest version of CS2 is CS5. And it was made very clear that these applications would not run in Lion. Not only by Apple, but on all sorts of communities and websites. It has been a long time coming - PowerPC apps were outdated six years ago. Lion does not support Rosetta, and therefore not PPC apps.
you have to options. Go back to Snow Leopard or upgrade your software. (MS Office 2004 and older will not run either).

Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.

Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.

What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?
As your Mac should run Snow Leopard provided it has at least 1GB memory, that would be a good deal easier and very much cheaper than trying to find a 10.5 install disc.
Snow Leopard costs $30 approx from the online Apple store (£26 if you're in UK)
You'll need to update Tiger to 10.4.11 with the combo installer first (unless you're just erasing the disc and starting fresh) You can then update SL from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 with its combo installer.
For comparison, 10.5 Leopard is currently running about $130 from Apple (if still available) and more on Amazon etc.

thanks in advanceGo to the website for your printer manufacturer and check if there are SL compatible drivers available for your model. This is not an unusual issue, and if the printer's not too old, the updated drivers should be there.
If you can't find one on the manufacturer's site, try Apple Support Downloads and look back through the updates in there; Apple has issued generic updates for a number of printers since SL's release, so you may find one that way.
After installing the new drivers you'll need to setup the printer again. -

I have recently stretched my budget as far as I can and have purchased my first Imac! I am really excited about getting it , its an i5 2.7ghz and i went for the 8gb ram upgrade. My question is will this be enough to run logic studio to produce music and record vocals?
If you have a similar setup please le me know how it runs for you. I would also like to hear about the average number of plugins you can run and any other tip to get the most out of your processor.
Logic Studio will be the only big program running on it, I plan to get a blue icicle converter and a blue condenser microphone for vocal recording so I hope the Imac is up to the task!
Hope to hear from somebody real soon.You should have no problem at all. That iMac is more than capable of running Logic.

I have a 2009 iMac 4,1 2GHz intel Core duo it says here I have 1GB of memory. I had it running on snow leopard 10.6.8 I still have the SN software that i bought to made the upgrade. Had some guest staying at my place and they deleted the running os and a lot of files and stuff..., now is running on leopard 10.5.8 and it's giving me a lot of problems because is soo obsolete, also hte computer is crashing all the time and every time I try ti install the SL dvd, the computer won't read the dvd and I'm keeps booting me off. Is not getting better at all and now when I restart the iMac before I get the grey apple screen, the folder of death icon flashes, (I already lost my Macbookpro due this situation.
