If I delete the iCloud account from an iPhone am I deleting permanently or only on the device?

I am using my mum's old iPhone with her iCloud account. if I delete it from there am I deleting permanently or only on the device?

I would also like to know the same thing, but according to a post i have about my stolen iphone the responder said you can't delete an icloud account and it will always be in the icloud. below is the answer I recieved about still being able to sign into my icloud account after my phone has been stolen three months later(cause I was led to believe your credentials leave your phone after it is wiped by a thief, therefore one would think you couldn't sign in anymore and still try to track your phone although says constantly offline) but gathering from what this person has said to me it sounds like your just deleting it from the device. I don't know if this answer helps you, but i hope it does
Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored.  (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.)  If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.

iif I delete an iCloud account on my iPhone to use a different one will it delete all the pics save to it?

Are you talking about your icloud backup?
You should be importing your pics to your computer as you would a digital camera iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer  that way you won't lose any pictures in your camera roll.

You would have to delete the existing iCloud account and create a wholly new one - you cannot change the @icloud.com email address of the one you already have.  To make a new one, you will also need an new AppleID as any AppleID can only have one iCloud account associated with it.
Deleting the account will not delete anything off your device (if prompted for things like contacts, choose to keep them).  You will have to sync everything anew with the new account as you cannot move your sync'd content, your old backups or anything else from one iCloud account to another.  You will have to set up sync again and let it sync to the new account, and then make new backups to the new account as well.

  • How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone, since it doesn't synch with my ipad?

How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone 4, since it doesn't sync with my ipad mini?

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address (you shouldn't need to verify the old account).  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone. I have two icloud accounts the old one just can not retrieve the pwd to access it

If the old ID is your ID, and if your second ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • If I delete my iCloud account from my iPhone

If I delete my iCloud account from my iPhone will it also delete the account online along with the data backed up?
I just created a new id because I've been using my father's account all this time. Recently I've just updated to the new iOS and I still have doubts whether to change the icloud account or not. I'm worried all of my dad's back ups, contacts and other data be deleted.
If it doesn't get deleted, can I still use the account in the future?
(Currently using iPhone 4 with the iOS 7.0.3 update)

Nope. Just the account & data on your phone.
If it doesn't get deleted, can I still use the account in the future?
Yep, but Apple reserves the right to delete the data if the account is dormat for an extended period of time.

  • I made a new Apple ID and I want to delete my iCloud account on my iPhone, will it delete only documents or data or it will reset my whole iPhone?

I made a new Apple ID and I want to delete my iCloud account on my iPhone, will it delete only documents or data or it will reset my whole iPhone, like deleting my apps, contacts. Please I need your help.

All you have to do is this: Sync your 3GS to create a current backup. Then either: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings or restore it as a "New" device in iTunes. Both accomplish the same thing, erasing all of your data & settings from the phone. You can now give it to your sister, she can plug it into her computer, name it what she wants & sync her content to it. You then restore your 4S from the backup of the 3GS you created when you started. Follow this by syncing your content to your new phone & your 4S will look just like your 3GS.

If you mean that it has the 90 day association : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
then you can either wait for the 90 days to complete, or you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can remove the association : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Can you delete an iCloud account from ONE iPhone without it disappearing from another iPhone registered on the same Apple-id/iCloud account?

My mother and brother made the mistake to connect both their iPhones to the same Apple-id, so a problem came up: All iMessages sent and received from one iPhone are also seen and saved on the other iPhone. My question is if it is possible to delete the iCloud account from one of the phones without it or any data being deleted from the other phone? Thankful for help! / the big sister..

    Yes.

  • I want to delete an iCloud account from my iPhone. It says I have to turn off 'Find my iPhone'. I can't do that because the applied on the iPhone is an old one to which I don't have access anymore. What do I do?

For some reason the iCloud account on my iPhone has reverted to an old Appleid. I now can't get rid of it for the above reason--I can't turn 'Find my iPhone' off since that old appleid is no longer active and I don't have access to the email address since its from an old job. I am in a catch 22. I can't move for

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. • How do I delete all iCloud accounts from different places to consolidate them? Also one of the email addresses is locked so will the material bought from iTunes there be acceptable? Thanks.

From the title of the above problems the iCloud accounts are on 2 PCs and one iPad2.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account").
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
You'll need to decide whether to keep info on the device or merge it at the appropriate time when prompted.

  • If i delete my icloud account on my iphone will that delete the account entirely or just delete it from my phone?

In the icloud settings theres a button that says "delete account", will that delete the account only from that device or delete the account entirely?

The implication of "Delete Account" is a little unclear and it's understandable to be concerned about it.
It merely deletes the account from the iPhone.
It can just as easily be added again.

  • Can't delete old iCloud account from my iPhone 5

I have just got a new iPhone 5 to replace one that was stolen recently, and wanted to restore it from my last iCloud backup. However, since the last iCloud backup I have changed the email address in my Apple ID. This seems to mean that the App Store, iMessage, FaceTime etc all work using the correct gmail Apple ID, however the iCloud account on my phone is my old Hotmail Apple ID. I can't delete the account or accept new terms and conditions without entering my password to my old Apple ID, which I don't know. When I've tried to login elsewhere with my old Apple ID (eg. online) it says it doesn't exist. Help!

After further investigation, I think this is somehow linked to being unable to turn off the Find My iPhone feature on my phone. When I try to delete my iCloud account, it needs the password to my old Apple ID which is no longer active...

  • Deleting my iCloud account from my iPhone has wiped out all my contacts.

Is this supposed to happen? I was led to believe that the cloud was a separate place for storing duplicated info if your device ever got lost/damaged and not THE ONE AND ONLY place where stuff gets stored. I was getting fed up of deleting unwanted and duplicated contacts over and over again so I thought closing my iCloud account would stop unwanted contacts appearing again. Now Im too afraid of updating my iPad for fear of my contacts disappearing from there too.

iCloud contacts are stored in iCloud. If you sign out of iCloud (remove the account from your phone) you are asked if you want to keep or delete your contacts from your phone. Which option did you choose?
Deleting the iCloud account does not delete your contacts from iCloud. If you sign back into iCloud all contacts stored there will reappear on your phone.
iCloud is not a separate place for storing duplicated info. It is the master place your contacts and calendars etc are stored and each of your devices/computers uses that master data.
