If I had my iphone 4s factory unlocked, and then reset all the settings, will it still be unlocked if I give it to a fellow servicemember?

There is generally a misundersting this area
there is no such thing as as a factory unlocked iPhone
there is an iPhone which has not been carrier lock as has
been available outside the US from day one
there is no evidence in OP that he purchased NOT locked from Apple

What do you mean you can't sync it back?
Media syncs one way. Computer>Phone, with the exception of purchased items.
File>Transfer purchases in iTunes. You're going to have to set it up as a new device then sync everything back from your iTunes library.  You did backup your laptop before you formatted it, right?

I really don't think that they have any interest in your data. They most likely plan on wiping the phone in order to sell it.
If they do restore from a backup, they would have to restore in Recovery Mode because it has a passcode on it. But that can't happen anyway because if they synced to a different iTunes library it would not have any of your backups.

  • I  would like to update or upgrarde my iphone from 4.2  to  5.0 or higher how can I do this task  A.  my phone does not have a "update" setting  I was told to reset all the settings to new B. will this earase all my contact, files ,notes emails  ??? C.

I want to update or upgrade my iphone 4  to 5.0 or 6 higher how can I do this ?  I my unable to sign into Itunes    I was told to reset all the settings to "factory"  If I reset evevything ,will I loose all my contacts, emails, notes, or any other information that I have saved into my phone  (photos, apps, emails, )  Just as if I had a brand new phone ?    I am not very experience with computers or high tech devices I would have a difficult time uploading on my computer or tranfering data

Don't reset anything, just connect it to iTunes. If you don't have iTunes on a computer, then find someone who does, turn off auto sync, then connect your iphone and click 'check for updates'. iTunes will download the update, then update that software to your phone. Before you update though, I'd make a backup, just to be on the safe side.

I have just update my iphone 4 to iOS5 and it did all the usual restore stuff. The next time I connected to my Mac instead of syncing it started to restore again, thus locking my handset, any ideas?

This indicates corrupt files.  A restore should resolve.
You might want to try a simple sync first

  • If a lost or stolen iPod touch is reset by the finder, will I still receive notifications through Find My iPhone if it connects to Wi-Fi after the reset?

If a lost or stolen iPod touch is reset by the finder, will I still receive notifications through Find My iPhone if it connects to Wi-Fi after the reset?

If the device is completely reset and restored to defult settings, then it will not notify you because all the account informmation will have been removed. (Which is probably a good thing too)

  • I had my iphone 4 factory unlocked, why cant i see the apn settings.

    I have a Iphone 4 iOS 6  AT&T that was factory unlocked.
Went thru the whole process itunes confirmed it was unlocked
When I went to put my APN Information that option is not available
If I go thru a 3rd party APN installer I get the internet but no MMS.
I did the Iphone configurator with no success
I'm running on a AT&T network, but with NET10 Provider
Does anyone have solution to this madness..Thanks in advance

Apple does not give any official method to set MMS Settings even with the ICU Program. You can use the "Sim Swap" method to set MMS Settings but apart from that there is no way (Unless you want to jailbreak the iPhone  which most people don't want to do)

  • Please help! I synced my iphone 5 with itunes and it deleted all the current information I had on it and restored all info from my iphone 4.  Can I recover the info I already had on my iphone 5?

I have had my Iphone 5 for a little while now and today I connected it to Itunes to download a movie to my phone.  I thought I had to restore the phone so I restored it back to my iphone 4.  I deleted all the new ringtones I just bought and I lost all photos and notes I had on my iphone 5.  Is there a way to unsync?? Is there a way to recover what I lost.  I downloaded wondershare but I can't recover from an Iphone 5 and I hadn't synced the iphone 5 with itunes until today but again i restored it back to iphone 4 data.

It can not do that all by itself.
When you plugged it in, iTunes said 'Oh goody! You got a new phone! Would you like to make it just like your old phone?'...
    You explicitly said 'Yes'.
    You can't undo that.
No backup of the current state of the new phone was made. It was wiped and the last backup of your old phone was restored to it.
Anything you had on the new phone is gone.

  • TS1559 hello i have updated my Iphone 4s and now ive got no WI FI ive reset all the settings etc but it still wont go on and is grey in colour.please help

ive updated my iphone 4s and cannot get 3G or Wi Fi on it.Ive reset the phone turned it off updated with ITunes. Still nothing the Wi Fi button isnt moving and is a light grey colour ??

I had the same problem with my iphone 4S, ios 7.1.2. The wifi button was grayed out for some time now. I tried several methods that I found in various forums, including the reset of network settings, airplane mode, fridge and more. NOTHING!
Then I finally did what I wanted to avoid - the heating method, and it worked as follows:
    1. iPhone turned on, I held a hair dryer close to it while keeping the screen on and watching it while heating the iphone with the hair dryer.
    2. When the temperature warning came up on the screen, I put the iphone aside to cool up in room temperature (shut off the display). I turned it on/off couple of times until I saw that the warning was gone and normal screen came back.
    3. The wifi was still grayed out.
    4. I then did the network settings reset,
iphone wifi was back to normal!!

  • I downloaded a ringtone from Itunes and apple owned company to my Iphone4 and then followed all the instructions sent to itunes on pc and synced back to iphone still got squat. Why does apple need to be so hard for something so simple.

I downloaded a ringtone from itunes (an apple company) to my iphone4 (an Apple product). Followed all the instructions from "Help" boards, sent to itunes on my pc converted to m4r synced back to iphone and still got squat. I thought iphones and apple were supposed to be so user friendly? Any other phone you download a ringtone click on it "use as ringtone" and your done.

Frank, thanks for your note.  I wrote "COMPLETED" because I had gone to a lot of effort to get the content of the book precisely as I wanted it. I would fully expect to see my level of effort and care matched by functional competence in Aperture 3 to render the book the way I created it.  Too much to ask?
And yes, I upgraded the Aperture 2 Library first.  [Not ALL my tens of 000s of pix, because I use Lightroom selectively for photo editing. But Yes to the Aperture 2 Library.]  That step took a number of minutes, but seemed to work fine (no error messages of any kind).
Then I opened the existing book project in Aperture 3, which followed some "magic-box" process that took a minute or so.  As I said, when that step was done, by all appearances the book was ready to submit for printing - until I examined the photos a little more closely.  You did see the blurry example I included, didn't you? That is what each and every photo looks like.
Text-box content appears to have been rendered pertectly, for the record (including captions).
So, ... is this result something you have heard of before?  Do you know of a one-step solution?  Or am I looking at an extended picture-by-picture fix?

  • Today all my Bookmarks disapeared from Safari, when i checked my iphone they were there and then went away the same happened on my ipad. Any ideas on how to restore?

Today all my BookMarks disappeared in Safari, when I checked my iphone I watched them disappear from there and the same on my iPad. I then thought why not check my Parallels side and Windows Explorer. They were there for a few seconds and then also gone. Any ideas on how to restore and stop this from happening again? My iCloud setting are set for Safari sync.

Then you have misunderstood what iCloud is.
First. It is not a back-up service. It is a sync service.
That distinction is very import. A back-up service would have backed-up your bookmarks but iCloud's function is to synchronize your data, in this case your bookmarks, to all your devices. A backup service, by it's very nature, would allow you to roll back to a previous version of your data or file. No such roll back function is present in iCloud's services.
For example, if you add a bookmark to Safari on your Mac that same bookmark will be added to all your other devices that are connected to your iCloud account. Also, if you delete a bookmark it will be deleted from all those devices.
iCloud does not make a distinction between deleting one or all of your bookmarks and it will do the same to all your devices. It does not know that was not your intention. That is why it is very important to have Backups and Apple makes it very easy using Time Machine and a simple hard drive connected to a computer.
Let's see if your bookmarks have actually been deleted or if there is another problem.
Your bookmarks are stored in a .plist file the following directory, ~/library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
To get to that directory go to the Finder, select the Go to Folder… menu item in the Go menu and enter ~/library/Safari/ in the field provided. There you will find the Bookmarks.plist file.
Select it and hit the space bar on your keyboard to see a preview of the files content. Does it still contain references to your bookmarks? If it does still contain references to your bookmarks then something else is going on and we'll have to find a different solution.

  • IPhone keeps freezing up and then deleting all my contacts

Shortly after I got my iPhone THIS year only 5 months ago. It has been freezing up on me and booting me out of apps. First it was my Facebook app, then my pictures, then my settings and then ultimately my messages. I end up having to cut my phone of by sliding the power button off. But when I go to turn it back on, ALL my contacts are deleted! This has happened once before and now again. I have version 5.0.1 and have heard of others with different versions doing the same thing. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Lacmoser, let's get your Droid X2 to work as it should. As B33 mentioned, clearing the system cache can help a lot of issues. This should not erase any data, but it is still safe to make sure your info is backed up first. To clear system cache:
      • Power the phone off
      • Power On while holding down the Home key
      • When exclamation point icon appears press BOTH volume keys
      • Use volume keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap the power button to select
      • Wait for it to finish and select reboot system
If no change, we may need to check to see if specific applications are causing this issue. Boot your phone into safe mode http://vz.to/17LHsYg for awhile to test if this issue is still occurring. Safe mode disables third party apps. If this issue is no longer happening in safe mode, then try removing some recently installed applications.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

To install a battery in a MBP should be a 15 minute operation and can be done at an Apple store.  I would call ahead and make an appointment AND make certain that they have the battery required in stock for your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Had my Iphone 4s in rain and then the screen started to do funny things. (going to different screens and going to turn off screen) Want to put in a bag of rice now but can't turn it off, its just keeps turning itself on. Any help on how to turn it off.

As the header say any help on how to turn it off or just put it in the bag of rice and hope for the best as its down to 25 % power anyways

When an iDevice gets wet the First thing to do is Turn it Off... leaving it on is not good.
If you cannot Turn it off... go to your nearest Apple Store.
