If i restore my ipod will i lose music and apps

I really need to know

If you restore from a backup? No. If you restore as new? Yes, but purchased content in iTunes can be re-synced.

If I restore my ipod will I lose all of my pictures ?

Yes, unless you create a backup of your iPod before you restore it via iTunes.  See here for what is included in the backup.
    iTunes: About iOS backups
And information on how to backup your device.
    iOS: How to back up
If these were synced photos, they won't be included in the backup that you can make via iTunes or iCloud, but since they originally were synced from your PC, they should still be there.

  • HT204053 I've got a new Iphone but still want to use my Ipod, can I have music and apps on both and if so how do I update them both?

Hi, I've just upgraded to an Iphone 4s but still want to use my Ipod. Can you have music and apps on both and if so how do you keep them updated? Is there a step by step guide anywhere? Thanks

"Can you have music and apps on both "
    Yes.
"how do you keep them updated?"
    Not sure what you mean.
"Is there a step by step guide anywhere? "
    Guide for what?
Sync each of them as always.  There is no need to do anything, just sync them to your computer.

You should be OK if you synced/backed up your iPod. If you didn't, you will need to go download and install the apps again. The good news is, you won't have to pay for them again.

  • If i restore my ipod will i lose my messages and photos?

I'm restoring my ipod and i want to know if i will lose my imessages and all of my photos.

Yes unless you restore from backup.
For how to restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
However, if the photos are on your computer you can sync them to the iPod.

Yes. Since you don't say what computer OS you have, tryYamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
It has both Mac and Windows versions.

  • Ipod touch 4g- no music, and apps not working after iOS5 update

Hi, I just updated to IOS 5 on my Ipod touch 4G, and ever since then the music library (in the Ipod) is cleared out, and none of the apps work. It's like it didn't finish updating and transferring back the data to the Ipod. When I go to plug in the Ipod to my macbook, and bring up Itunes, the Itunes program freezes every single time, not allowing me to fix the problem. My Ipod will show up in the side bar of Itunes, with the circular arrows going for a little bit, then the arrows stop in the middle of the process... I go to click on anything in Itunes and immediately get the spinny flywheel on my screen, meaning itunes freezes, and I have to force quit the program everytime. I've tried rebooting my computer a few times, as well as restarting my Ipod, but nothing is working. The internet works on my Ipod, but anything music/app related is 'empty.'  I couldn't find anyone else on the net w the same problem, so I might have something unique~

I would try restoring the iPod from backup.  If necessary, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

my friends little brother changed her pass word somehow and now it says ipod disabled connect to store.  If i restore the ipod will she lose everything, music and games, on her ipod

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. All you can do is restore from backup

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

  • Will restoring my iPod erase my iTunes music too?

Just a quick question. If I restore my ipod will all my music be erased from my iTunes library as well as my ipod? Thanks!

    Hello,
Restoring the iPod will only clear the music from the iPod. Your iTunes library will be unaffected. It's always worth having a backup though!

Restore to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes if you have not done so already.
If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

  • When i use restore on my ipod will i lose all my purchases from my lib

when i use my restore on my ipod will i lose just what is on the ipod not all my purchases in my lib

Restoring an iPod has no affect on iTunes or your library. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

A restore will erase your iTunes media but you can re download iTunes purchases without being charged again.
