Ifolder

I'm trying to set up ifolder,
I've built the dependencies from AUR just fine (libfaim, pkgversion and 2 others)
trying to build it using aur. So far I get past the "libfaim" error (which can be solved by performing
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib64/pkgconfig
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH
just befor running the ./autogen.sh script.
Right now I'm getting stuck at the part in which a precompiled version of "gsoap" is being used to compile the ifolder server package.
After read http://baptiste.us/2006/04/12/building- … or-x86_64/ I get the impression that the version of gsoap is build on x86 and won't work on amd64. I am, though, capable of building gsoap on amd64 using the "orig" packages from debian.
Also, there are packages (rpm) for amd64 opensuse systems and there also appear to be ready build packages for ubuntu and fedora amd64 systems.. So it should be possible to build it on a amd64 arch system as well..
But I don't know how.
Is there anyone who can help me out and provide either a source tarball with the proper gsoap version in "tools" or with a package ready for pacman to use on amd64 systems?
Thanx a lot in advance!
Cheers

Okay I actually solved the issue, this is what I did:
build the dependancies from aur (they all should build fine)
after that download the source tarball from novell's site http://forgeftp.novell.com/ifolder/serv … rrent/src/
extract the source
cd tools/gsoap/linux-2.7/src
make
cp soapcpp2 ..
cd ..
cp -a ../macosx-2*/wsdl .
cd wsdl
make
now you can build the package from source, since libflaim gets installed to /usr/lib64/ you should perform this before compiling first:
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib64/pkgconfig
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH
after that you can run the ./autogen.sh script and "make" the package.
In order to make an ifolder-server-3.5.7039.1-1.pkg.tar.gz package I rebuild the source tarball after the first step and used the PKGBUILD from cvs to build this newly created package.. which turned out to work fine.
Enjoy and good luck!

  • Ifolder client encounted an error while connecting to server

    Windows 7 64 bit client give me an error when i try to connect to my i folder system. An error was encountered while connecting to ifolder server. please verify the information entered and try again if the problem persists, please contact your network administrator.
    The server is a suse server that I have setup with LDAP authencation
    This server works on the web interface and on my linux client but as soon as i try to connect a windows client to it i am unable to connect.
    I have tried this with fresh install of ifolder 3.7 server & ifolder 3.8 server
    I have tried this with ifolder client 3.8.0 & 3.8.0.3
    I have tried both the fqdn and the ip to connect to the server
    I have tried both ssl and nonssl in my settings.
    I have tried running as administrator
    I have tried reinstalling the client several times
    I have rebooted the server.
    I enabled debug mode on the server interface and i see no connection errors in there.
    The questions i have is where is the log file for the windows client?
    Is there an easy fix for this issue?
    Why does my web interface and linux client work and not my windows 7 one?
    Is there any other information you will need to help me fix this issue?
    Thanks,

    When connecting via the windows client, did you get a certificate

    I'd try reconfiguring the server - if you are getting an error on the simias10 page - there is something not right with the base configuration.
    On a next reconfiguration, try using SSL. Setting up SSL on openSUSE is not that hard to setup (for example see steps 1 & two in the bit 'Configuring Apache for SSL' : Installing iFolder Server on openSUSE 11.1 & 11.2 | DiWi ).
    The rest of that blog is dated as I wrote it for 11.1, but there is an updated blog here
    iFolder on OpenSuSE 11.3 full install walkthrough daniel lench
    that might help in getting a better pictures of what needs to be configured and shake off the rust a bit :)
    Also, the author of the iFolder JeOS might be able to give you some pointers?

  • IFolder Client error: Not enough space on the iFolder server

    iFolder client gets the following error:
    iFolder synchronization cannot complete because you don't have enough space on the server.
    Free space on the server = 464 MB (total space available 3000 MB)
    Space needed to complete synchronization = 2536 MB.
    Please free up space in your iolder and click OK.
    Click Cancel to cancel to sync.
    iFolder client log looks like this:
    13.3.2011 23:40:46 Synchronizing with server...
    13.3.2011 23:40:48 Synchronization failed
    The volume size is 36 GB and it has free space 20% = 7 GB.
    So there is enough space to the iFolder sync.
    iFolder host is NetWare 6.5.8 server and iFolder version is 2.1.8
    The same iFolder is synced from two (2) PC's, a desktop (XP SP3) and notebook (W7 SP1 32bit). Both have been working for long time.
    The problems are seen on notebook using Windows 7. The Windows 7 (32-bit) OS has updated with SP1 on Saturday (May 12th.2011). After the update iFolder worked but on Sunday evening the errors started.
    iFolder client (2.1.8) has removed and reinstalled. First the client seemed to work OK, but after the sync of last file, the error reoccured again.
    iFolder sync partially works: files and folders created on desktop PC are synced to notebook.
    But files created on notebook are not synced to desktop.
    Any tips how to repair or troubleshoot?
    Kind Regards, Harri

    464 MB is less than 2536 MB so error message is correct.

    Noting your follow-up reply re uninstall of Windows 7 SP1 I'll flag that
    the iFolder 2.0 client is not supported on Windows 7 - it would have
    been released before Windows 7 and certainly not updated for it (OES
    Linux introduced iFolder 3).

  • Problem connecting only iFolder client

    Hi everyone,
    I begn with iFolder 3.8 and I've a problem with connecting the client.
    For information, I've 3 separate iFolder servers, two of them work perfectly !
    So, on one, I can't connect the Windows Client, I've an error "iFolder can't connect, please check the informations" (translation from french).
    If I try to connect on the web access, it's OK, no problem with that.
    The Simias.log file says that the connexion is successful with the client but it's not...
    I try to reinstall the server several times with simias-server-setup, ifolder-admin-setup and ifolder-web-setup but no effects.
    If someone as already experienced this and solved this problem, thank you for your help.

    OK, so I've solved my problem after hours.
    I tried to reinstall completly the server and then, it works !
    To conclude, if your iFolder server doesn't work at the first time, don't try to debug, format and reinstall.

  • Remove OLD Slave iFolders from iFolder Master

    I have a old iFolder slave server that appears unders "Servers" when viewing servers in the iFolder 3.7 server administration tab. This server is no longer around. When you click on the server it returns an error.
    How does one go about removing a "dead" iFolder slave server that appears in the Servers listing of iFolder servers?
    I want to "delete" the last three servers from appearing in the list of iFolder server.

  • Ifolder client as a windows service

    client request, is it possible to run the ifolder client as a windows
    service so we can sync a windows "file server" pc to ifolder without logging

    I guess this would be similar to running DropBox as a service

    anybody tried this? or have any experience?

    I have used many app as a service so the app doesn't interact with a desktop by using srvany which is included in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools.
    Although i have more recently moved to nssm almost a direct drop in replacement because it has better error handling of crashed apps that it is running as a a service.

  • Ifolder Client on openSUSE 11.4

    Hi any and all.
    I've just upgraded a machine to openSUSE 11.4 x66, and can't seem to make the ifolder client run on it.

    I installed ifolder 3.8 client on a new windows 7 home 64-bit pc and it worked fine until I ran windows up date.
    Now I get a "Novell ifolder core has stopped working" message when ifolder tries to start.
    I get the following information in the problem details.
    At this point, ifolderapp.exe is running, but simias.exe is not.
    It looks like simias is crashing when it starts.
    I have removed and reinstalled the ifolder client at least three times, and the same result occurs.

  • Missing files with ifolder and Mac OS 10.6.2

    Hello,
    I have been using ifolder for a year more or less and I am delighted with it. It is what I and my workmates always wanted.
    We have always been using ifolder with Windows clients, and it has always worked perfectly. However, some weeks ago we bought a Macbook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.2. And due to we had the ifolder client for Mac, we thought that it will work fine. But, now we are having some problems with it.
    The most important one is that when the client for mac begin to download the files from the server (for the first time) it download everything well but then it begin to detect changes not made in some files and to delete them from the server. Afterwards, the ifolder client begin to upload some of the changed files to the server but others are completely erased from the server and from the PC.
    This only happens the first time that ifolder synchronize, but we can not lose our files.
    Anyone knows how to solve this problem.

  • Problems installing an iFolder slave server

    Hi,
    I have an iFolder 3.8.4.0 master server configured and working with an AD server. I am now trying to add a second iFolder server as a slave in this iFolder domain. I'm running simias-server-setup and choosing "Y" when I get to the "Slave Server?" prompt. I'm putting in the same iFolder admin user and proxy user and passwords that I used for the master server. However, I get a failure at the end that indicates a credential error. Since the conversation is SSL-encrypted, I can't get much useful information in a WireShark trace. I should note on this same server, if I configure it as another master, it works perfectly against the AD server with SSL, so I'd have to believe the SSL cert for the AD server is properly imported. Is there any type of debug logging I can enable or more detailed output tracing I can do to determine why this is failing?
    Here is the error at the end of the simias-server-setup script:

    FAILED
    In troubleshooting this error, I've noticed that when I re-run the simias-server-setup and point to the existing location of the Simias.config file that was partially created, when it gets to the point where it asks the admin user dn, it inserts an additional "dc=test" in the string below when it auto-suggests the admin user in [brackets]:
    cn=ifadmin,cn=Users,dc=test,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=loca l
    I found this line in the master server's Simias.config file and corrected it to reflect the proper dn for the ifadmin user:
    cn=ifadmin,cn=Users,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=local
    I then re-ran the simais-server-setup, and this time it auto-suggested the correct path, however it fails with a different error that states the admin user is in an invalid context, and it shows the "cn" of Users as an "ou":
    cn=ifadmin,ou=Users,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=local
    So something is different between the master and slave configuration in the setup program, but I can't tell what I need to enter to make it work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
    Best regards,
    Greg

    I was eventually able to resolve this issue myself. In an effort to help someone else if they should have the same problem, I will relay the details. What I ended up doing is opening the port in my firewall between the iFolder server and the AD server to allow LDAP cleartext (389) and then running a WireShark trace on the AD server to see what was actually going on. As is typical with software installation problems, the problem turned out to be rather simple, however the logs didn't really give enough detail as to what was failing (see above, which is all I got when it failed).
    I had already found out anecdotally when re-running the install script that I had one typo in the master iFolder server's Simias.config file (an extra "dc=test" somehow got inserted into the path of the "iFolder admin user" (ifadmin in our case)):
    cn=ifadmin,cn=Users,dc=test,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=loca l
    I found this line in the master server's Simias.config file and corrected it to reflect the proper dn for the ifadmin user:
    cn=ifadmin,cn=Users,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=local
    I then re-ran the Simias-server-setup, and this time it auto-suggested the correct path, however it fails with a different error that states the admin user is in an invalid context, and it shows the "cn" of Users as an "ou":
    cn=ifadmin,ou=Users,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=local
    What I didn't see until I did the wireshark trace is that after the slave server contacts the master server on it's SOAP URL, it pulls down the LDAP search contexts that are configured on the master, and it then tries to verify each one against the LDAP server. If it gets to one that does not verify, it bails and ends with the "LDAP Credentials" error seen on my earlier post. The thing I was confused on, is the "second" error shown just above, where it changes "cn=Users" to "ou=Users" in the dn for the ifadmin user. That turned out to be another line in the LDAP search contexts pulled from the master's Simias.config file. That was configured in the file as "ou=Users,dc=test,dc=wwt,dc=local". Someone familiar with LDAP and eDirectory, like myself, won't immediately find anything wrong with that, since "users" is a container, and in our way of thinking really is an "OU". For AD, for whatever stupid reason, Microsoft decided that the "users" container is a "CN", whereas the "groups" container is an "OU". Nice consistency. My Master server worked with this typo, because we don't have any production users under the "CN=users..." container (except ifadmin, which is called out by FQDN earlier in the config file), so it never needs to search in that container anyway. In the WireShark trace, you could see the AD server failing on validation of that OU (err, I mean CN) of "Users", and that is where the simias-server-setup script bombed. An extra properly-worded line of explanation in the setup script would have prevented a few hours of hair-pulling, but at least it's working now. Hope it helps someone in the future.
    Best regards,
    Greg
