Iif and concat problem in email body - solution

Hi all, it is not a question, just some information if somebody will try to do it:
If you want to send an email from workflow and use the IIf function with concatenated results, the concat syntax in the help will not work.
The solution is: Use + character in place of || and so on :)
For exlampe:
%%%IIf(PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>')<>[<dDate_field1_ITAG>],'Any text '+PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>')+'-->'+[<dDate_field1_ITAG>], '')%%%
The result when the field HAD a value and it is changing to another: Any text 11/11/2011 --> 12/11/2011
If the field is changing from NULL to something, use this:
%%%IIf(IfNull(PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>'),0)<>[<dDate_field1_ITAG>],'Any text'+PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>')+'-->'+[<dDate_field1_ITAG>], '')%%%
And if U want to see the every change (null -> value, value -> value, and value -> null), use this beauty:
%%%IIf(IfNull(PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>'),0)<>[<dDate_field1_ITAG>] OR ([<dDate_field1_ITAG>] IS NULL AND PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>') IS NOT NULL),'Any text'+PRE('<dDate_field1_ITAG>')+'-->'+[<dDate_field1_ITAG>], '')%%%

A.

iii am concating the text please clik on this link ||' '||www.gmail.com
but in email www.gmail.com is shown on text only.Correct. As the e-mail body is in text/plain MIME format.
If you want to use formatting in the e-mail body, you need to create a text/html body. At [RFC FAQs|http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc-titles.html], refer to the following RFCs:
- RFC 2049 - Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Part Five: Conformance Criteria and Examples
- RFC 2048 - Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Part Four: Registration Procedures
- RFC 2047 - MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) Part Three: Message Header Extensions for Non-ASCII Text
- RFC 2046 - Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Part Two: Media Types
- RFC 2045 - Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Part One: Format of Internet Message Bodies
In simple terms, your e-mail message body needs to look something like this:
Subject: Test E-mail
From: "John Doe" <[email protected]>
To: "Jane Doe" <[email protected]>
Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="=-2zP89iYM0w6fRrmCDsDv"
Mime-Version: 1.0
--=-2zP89iYM0w6fRrmCDsDv
Content-Type: text/plain
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Content-Type: text/html; charset="utf-8"

• No Battery Charge and Other Problems After OS3 Install - Solution?

This relates ONLY to iPhone Users using the "PUSH" Function for Email or Other Apps!
PROBLEM: It seems as though Apple is at least aware of the problem(s), i.e. once Exchange Email or another App using PUSH is configured, there is an OS3 bug that seems to be hardware independent (impacting ALL 1G, 2G and GS iPhones, but not consistently).
SYMPTOMS: Include some or all of the following . . . rapid discharge (less than two hours from a fully charged phone, failure to charge (by AC adapter or USB to computer), failure to charge completely, perpetual dead battery icon, inability to boot, inability to automatically sleep, quite warm on upper back side, slow email, indication of a full or partially full charge dropping to no charge or dead when removed from charging source.
CAUSE: OS3 Bug prevents consistent charging, draining the battery even when plugged in to a computer via the USB or into an A/C adapter (although I've been able to intermittently charge on an A/C adapter). In push mode, the Exchange email client on the iPhone continually queries the Exchange Server, cycling the iPhone CPU and continually draining the battery at a high rate (can
WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD BY APPLE:
1) Defective Hardware (though I'm on my third 3G in a week, so I don't think hardware is the problem . . . Apple will consider replacement with a new 3G if my third 3G has the same problem)
2) Corrupted App in iTunes - so I manually reloaded each app directly over wi-fi, one app at a time, this worked until I configured Exchange Email, at which time symptoms immediately appeared . . . so corrupted app unlikely.
3) Initial data transfer after email configuration . . . but symptoms continued long after this.
4) Wi-Fi - but turning wi-fi on or off had little effect, beyond normal.
5) Restore to New Phone - this works fine UNTIL Exchange Email is configured and activated. Thus, the time consuming practice of reload all apps, photos, music, etc. will be for naught, once exchange email is turned on with "push"
SOLUTION: Turning off "push" on your exchange email account
1) Go to Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars - Fetch New Data
2) Set Fetch Setting to 15 minutes to approximate the much more frequent "push" uploads and downloads. NOTE: Turning off \"push\" at this level will NOT turn off push on your exchange email account and the problem will not be resolved
3) Scroll down and select - Advanced -
4) Identify and select your Exchange Server account
5) Select - Fetch -
6) Leave settings
Phone should cool down in a few minutes and work normally. The problem can be replicated and resolved repeatedly merely by toggling "push" on and off in your exchange email configuration.
I was told that this is likely to be the "fix" until a patch is issued. No time frame was given for an actual fix that allows Exchange users to use push technology. Disappointing, since broader use of "push" technology beyond exchange was one of the big benefits of OS 3.0.
NOTE: THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR ON ALL iPHONES WITH OS3 USING THE EXCHANGE CLIENT. I have second 3G phone, identically configured (including push to exchange email) that has no symptoms at all. Go figure.

Since two days ago, my battery indicator has been indicating 100% until the phone dies, which seems to be one of the symptoms you're describing.
However, I don't use Push emails; my email client is configured to poll an imap server and has been that way since I got my phone over 6 months ago. To be on the safe side, I turned off Push anyway, but I'm still having the problem. Definitely 3.0 related as I've never had this problem before.
Perhaps it's linked to an app? Personally I don't have a whole lot of them installed: Aurora Feint, fstream, twitterific, flixster, wikipanion, google earth, urbanspoon, STM Mobile, iDicto, Air Sharing, Facebook and Apple Remote. I've removed a few and will see how it goes.

• Giant leading in to and from heading to email body

The fonts are displaying correctly in the list of mailboxes and the top part where the list of read and unread emails are. But when I click on a specific email and below the list the body appears with the heading of from, subject, date, etc. that list displays with about an inch and a half space above and below each item. When putting the cursor on the type, it appears that it is being set that way by the title type - i.e. the "from" and the "date" etc. I can find no place to set the leading or spacing for these. I have checked for corruption my fonts and have changed fonts in the email preferences and nothing makes a difference.
The only thing I have not tried is re-installing my email from the apple disks.
Any suggestions?

I am using Suitcase fusion and have watched for duplicates or corrupt fonts. I ran a scan and repair any fonts this morning.
This problem has plagued me for years off and on. When turning on the computer, if I open my email too soon so that Suitcase has not done whatever it does on startup, Mac mail automatically does this odd spacing. Usually if I shut the system down and start up again and am careful to wait, it fixes it. But since I opened a file from a client from an old PC Pagemaker file into my CS3 InDesign and the fonts didn't recognize the Pagemaker PC fonts, I can't get the email font problem fixed. I had to shut down InDesign, restart, and reopen the old file again to get the InDesign to work properly again, which is why I thought it was a font problem and ran the scan on the fonts. I've shut down multiple times, and InDesign is working fine, but the mail is still messed up.
Sigh.

• Pdf (with graphics and text) in the email body

When I place an pdf (with graphics and text) in the body of my email using Mac Mail my recipient sees them as attachments only. I am trying to find a way of presenting a formatted email with graphics that will appear the same way to all recipients, but a pdf frequently ends up being an attachment instead of staying in the body. The pdf file doesn’t seem to always show up in the body as created. Is there a better way to accomplish this?

You have no control over how your email maybe rendered by other email servers and client side software.
Attachment Tamer may give you a few more options but it does not guaranty the end result.

• UTL_SMTP writing to email body after writing to attachment doesn't work

Read in contents of files and Write text to email body if size is < 10k , otherwise to an attachment. Problem is after writing to an attachment we can't get it to switch to write the next file contents to the message body.
Example; we have 6 files in the table array. The first two files are less than 10k in size so the text from these files get written to the mail body. The third file size is 12k so the text gets written to an attachment. The 4th file is 2k but instead of being written to the email message body it gets appended to the previous attachment. All subsequent files of size < than 10k get appended to the attachment.

Sounds like you've written some custom code and it has a bug in it. How about you post a SMALL (yet complete) example that can be run by anyone with an Oracle database (the same version as you, which you've not told us and should). From there you should get lots of help.

Have you contacted iTunes Support as was suggested on your duplicate posts :

• From:, To: and Subject: end up in email body - html email using sendmail

To the experts and the experienced:
I am trying to send email in html format from a Korn shell script on Solaris 10. The
email does get delivered and is displayed html-formatted, except that the From:, To: and
Subject: lines are displayed in the email body, rather than in the email header. I
would appreciate it very much if experts and the experienced could shed some light.
I use this command line to send the email:
sendmail -t [email protected] < testmail
The content of the testmail file is as follows:
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="frontier"
--frontier
Content-Type: text/plain
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Subject: test html email
This is a plain-text email.
Newman
--frontier
Content-Type: text/html
From: [email protected]<br/>
To: [email protected]<br/>
Subject: test html email<br/>
<h3 align="center">This is a html email</h3>
<p>This is the paragraph.</p>
<p>Newman</p>
frontier\
The email received in Microsoft Outlook (html-formatted), looks like this:
From: [email protected]
To:
Subject:
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Subject: test html email

This is a html email

This is the paragraph.

Newman
Two things in the email need fixing:
1. All the From:, To: and Subject: lines are treated as part of the email body and are
displayed in the email body, rather than in the header as I wanted them to.
2. The From: line in the email header is the actual sender, not the Bursar.Office as I
put in the testmail file. This can be easily done when using SMTP (telnet to port 25)
or mailx.
How do I tell sendmail/the email client to display in the intended places the From:,
To: and Subject: information that I specified in the testmail file?
Many thanks!
Newman

I searched in google and found a solution:
mailx -r [email protected] -s "test html email
content-type: text/html" john.doe < testmail
The testmail file is a pure html file with one

element. The content embedded in this element is the body of the email, with all the usual tags you would like to use:
, , <h3>, <p>, <ul>, etc.
The trick is piggy-backing a content-type with the subject. It seems to me this it to get the content-type into the email header rather than into the body. And that was exactly the problem I had.
The command lines was executed on Solaris 10. It works.
Hope this could be useful to someone who would encounter the same problem.

• Send Solution/Problem via email using CRMM_SEARCH

Hi All,
When you access tcode CRMM_SEARCH, theres an option there to send a solution/problem in email. However, when trying to send the email to my outlook, i got a message that contains a lot of "br" in its body.
Example:
"Problem: No authorization for tcode XXXXX "br br"
Create a new role for this tcode via PFCG "br br"
Have found that the "br" is the line break or new line in the paragraph.
Upon checking the set-up of my outlook, it was already set to HTML. Have also checked the RAW file of the email via SOST and there's also
in the body.
All I what is to deliver the email in my outlook without the "
" in its body.
Can anyone know how to fix this error? Is there any sap note available for this problem?
Hope to hear from you guys!

• Problems with email and SMS after 1.3.5

Let me first say that I love the Pre. Up until this point it has been perfect - I have a replacement, but that is because I dropped it (wrong angle, wrong location, broken screen). However, following the 1.3.5 update I'm now having a fairly important problem with email and sms - I can receive email and messages, but not send them.
I have two email accounts. My personal account is with earthlink. My work account goes through an ISP using the domain name of my employer. I'm not using Microsoft Exchange or Outlook. I have tried deleting and reentering the accounts and that did not work. I can receive messages but get error messages when I try to send.
The same for messaging. I don't use it very often. But yesterday I get a text message and tried to respond and got the error message.
I power the phone off every night because I have a landline and use that as the primary phone at home.
I have been looking around message boards trying to find a fix for this. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?
Thank you.

This question was solved.
View Solution.

I forgot to add that this is a stock Pre. There are no patches or homebrew apps.
Edit:
I found a fix for the email problem, in posts on precentral and this board from a few months ago. The info came up in a Google search, and not searches of the boards, which is kind of frustrating. Here is the info, and the link. I really wish Palm would put info about this work around on their site, or at least make it easy for people to find. The solution is the last message in the thread linked below:
Had the same problem. Checked with Earthlink - no help. Checked with Sprint - no help. Checked with Palm - no help. Here is what finally worked:
Delete the earthlink account and start over. When you do - this is the key - set up the account manually! If you use the Pre defaults and try to change the settings it will not correct the problem. Your settings for outgoing mail must be:
"smtpauth.earthlink.net"
Use Authentication set to "on"
username is your email address
your email password
port set to "587"
encryption "none"
Again, the key is to set up manually.

• My iphone will list my emails and the subject, but the body will be empty.

I have had my phone for approximately one year with no problems. Now it sends only the senders name and the subject of emails but the body is blank. I have checked settings etc. but can't find why it is doing this. I think it may have happened when I tried to open an attachment. Now, all my email is like this. I am traveling and need to get this fixed soon. I am not in a position to phone apple.

The problem lies with your computer.
If you are connecting the iPhone direct to a USB port on your computer - not connected to a USB hub, have you tried every USB port?
Desktop or laptop?
PC or Mac?

• Maverick Mail Printing Problem: prints email header on separate page from body of email. Why?!

Maverick Mail Printing Problem: prints email header on separate page from body of email. Why?!

For what it's worth, I can report exactly the same problem. I just recently converted from Outlook for Mac 2011 to Mail. I did the conversion while running Yosemite. I like pretty much everything about Mail EXCEPT that it take 2 pages to print a 1 page email!! The header appears on the top of p.1, followed by a blank space. The message begins at the top of p.2.
If you scale it down, you can get the message to begin to appear on the bottom of p.1, but clearly, Mail is inserting BIG SPACE between the header and the message. Changing the display fonts for Mail had no apparent effect (except that the font DID change, of course)....still a BIG SPACE between the header and the message.
Coming to Mail for the first time, I would have assumed that this was just a quirk of Mail, but am I understanding that some of you Mail users out there USED TO NOT have this problem?? I think it's pretty clear that it's Mail that's causing the problem, not the message, because I went over to my old Outlook and printed the same couple of messages with no such space between the header and the message. So Mail is inserting a space into the print formatted email message that is NOT there in Outlook's print formatted same message.
Be really nice to get rid of this problem, but my Apple Care free support has expired. Not sure I want to pay for something that's generic to Mail!! Anyone else made any progress on this?

• Sending email - problems with text in email body

Hello all,
for sending emails I use the FM from Thomas Jung (<a href="http:///people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/09/08/sending-e-mail-from-abap--version-610-and-higher--bcs-interface:///people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/09/08/sending-e-mail-from-abap--version-610-and-higher--bcs-interface).
Everything works fine, except that the text I attach in documents-content_text doesn't appear as a normal text in the email body but within an .EXT-attachment. Should this be a TXT attachment?
E.g. when I send the text 'Hello World' the email arrives with an attachment 'Hello World.EXT'.
Did anyone have the same problem? What's wrong?
Thanks for your help.

Email syncs now say "Updated Mar 30", the day I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0. Two days later it is still saying Mar 30. The notification should read the date and time you updated email receiving. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution to this?

We want to make sure your phone is in working order Mb_in_NC. I know it can be difficult when you see different times. What is your make/model of your device? When did it start? Do you have a different time on any other applications?

Problems Receiving Emails and some data on WIFI since latest software update.
My blackberry torch will not receive emails on wifi since the latest software update, I've tried numerous wifi networks and several handsets, even had them replaced and received a brand new. Still the same problem.
When turning off the wifi network on the torch, the phone will stall for 5-10min while it tries to communicate with the network (vodafone) to receive outstanding emails and data.
Can someone please inform Blackberry and get a quick fix on this

Sounds like you have Do NOt Disturb turned on.
