ILife 11 - Yes Yes No No

Hi
Now I got hands on.
YES - TimeLine is back ! Rudimentary but much better !
YES - RubberBand - audio level ajustment is back - GREAT ! !
NO - No Back to Camera via FireWire (or to Monitor for Quality Controll) - BAD
NO - Still not the tool for us making DVDs - - BAD BAD - Apple was = to Quality for
me so this is a real enigma. Compare Logic and other pro tools that evolve to an even greater qualty.
Bonus
• Trailer maker - This I never figured out - a real supprice - if they make it to use Photos too then it's 100%
• STORYBOARD - YES YES YES - This is a tool that might bring iMovie back to education
(it halted by iMovie HD6 - rest was far from logic and intutive)
My up till now feeling for this - It really got me to be interested to try it out
and if I can figure out HowTo get a good final result DVD or whatever so I can share
my monumental 6 hours vacation movies.
Yours rather uplifted Bengt W

Nop - It did not - Neither in iMovie'11
I really wished for a way around - or -
Any way to get my SD PAL miniDV projects to a Flat-screen with as good quality possibly.
Only way I found is by using my LapTop and in iMovie Playback full screen and connect
this to LCD-TV or Projector. This looks OK as I can judge it.
Still in need of way to deliver to other users in as full quality possibly.
Any suggestions ? Anyone ?
Yours Bengt W

  • ILife 08 - yes or no?

I am putting together some DVD's for christmas and am contemplating purchasing ilife 08. I have ilife 06, but with all the problems iMovie has been having in the new version I wanted to know if they were fixed or not with the lastest update.
If not I will stick to using 06, but wanted some opinions.
    Thanks in advance.

I am not having any issues with 08, and I have made about 40 movies in the past 4 months using source material from VHS tapes, mini-DV, and AVCHD. But I rarely use DVD's. I share with friends and family through a personal website which links to .mac webgallery. I have burned DVDs to test, however, and they work fine.
I would say if you have a Christmas deadline, stick to what you know. Then explore iMovie 08 after Christmas when you don't have the time pressure.

  • "to continue, type an administrator password, and then click yes" - yes but how?

    Hello,
I have removed myself from the administrator group and would like to use the "run as" feature only when it is strictly required.
Unfortunately it looks like it is not possible to use the Runas feature, if you are not member of the administrator group, as the prompt that appears shows the following message:
""to continue, type an administrator password, and then click yes" but you have no text field available to enter the required password ... am I missing something or is this a required behavior?
    Thanks for the help.
    Didier

How to fix UAC can't enter password, UAC type an admin password bar missing or do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? yes disabled on your admin account problem.
First you need to create a backup on everything in your library to your hard drive by cut&past option.
First restart your PC and tap F8.
Now you have to run on safe mode and then start menue> type> CMD> click or enter.
Now you have to type in CMD: NET USER ADMINISTRATOR /ACTIVE:YES
NOw restart you PC and login as the built-in Administrator account
Delete the account you have created, first download IObit UNLOCKER @ IObit.com and delete it with IObit unlocker,
Now you have deleted your account you must create a new account and log off your built-in Administrator account.
Now you have to go to your new account and Open CMD now type it again as NET USER ADMINISTRATOR /ACTIVE:NO
    you are done.

    Anyway.
I need desperately to find out from somewhere, where can I buy a "SPDIF I/O -plug", as it says in the
manual that will be combined to Optical Digital I/O card (available only on certain models).
Well my card has the socket in the audio card, and please someone tell me where to buy such a
cable I assume which then will be installed into the rear of the chassis as all the other cards etc..
I would appreciate very much if someone could shed some light for me on this matter, and I li've
in Finland so that might complicate things a bit but anyway thanx already.

  • To All: Yes, Yes, the battery causes the trackpad to go haywire.

I've had my MacBook Pro for 5 yrs &amp; have left it plugged into power while in use with the battery in.
I've used it ~ 8-10 hrs daily this way for the last 2 yrs without unplugging it at night, I just put it to sleep.
Thought it might have been an altitude problem but I came from Florida to Colorado last yr w/out problems.
I now believe that constant use w/ battery in &amp; plugged into power 24/7 for the last 2 yrs didn't help.
It would get hot, the fan would go on &amp; I'd elevate the back to help circulation.
But it is 5 years old, a longevity for a battery I hear. I must say a swollen battery causes the trackpad to go haywire.

Not at an Apple Store, and if the iPhone is no longer under warranty, there is a cost.

  • YES, YES, YES, a thousand times YES!

The CFPB came through for me!  I have been fighting to have an invalid collection removed from my credit reports for over six months now! http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/Four-months-later-debt-still-hasn-t-been-validated/m-p/4115331  I took gdale6's advice and filed a complaint with the CFPB. I detailed all communication I had with the CA and original creditor, the lack of response from both, and why I believed the debt was invalid. I received an email this morning, stating Enhanced Recovery had responded to my claim. After a bunch of fluff where they try to absolve themselves of wrongdoing, and how they only collect what they're asked to, they get to the juicy part:
As of July 10, 2015, DeeBee78's account was closed in our office at our client's request, and a deletion request submitted to the credit reporting agencies on July 12, 2015. ERC will have no further contact with DeeBee78 regarding the account. If he has any further questiones regarding the account, he may contact T-Mobile directly. This is such a huge relief. I really appreciate the help I got from gdale6!

Congrats. Good to know this worked. I have a collection with CFC thats been a pain. I try CFPB route as well.

  • Force user to select yes/no based on criteria in another field

    Hello,
I have a training subform. When the user slects a course that was taken by an employee adn if the course offers a certificate (the table with the course has the yes/no value already chosen when the course was entered in a table called course list)
if the value is yes meaning a certificate is offered then the user must choose yes or no in a field called cboCertAquired

The fields are from two different tables. Course Information and General tables
If the field from course information table if the field [Certification Course] is set to yes, (*yes only) then I would like to force the user to choose wether the certificate was obtained or not by selecting yes or no in the next field
called [Course Aquired]. Some people may fail getting the certificate/certification. I only want to force the user to select whether it was obtained or not (yes/no) only if the [Certification Course] field is 'Yes'.
PS: I am not very good at writting code :-/

  • I received a pop up regarding security certificates when opening a PDF document today.  Is it safe to say "yes" to the installation of the security updates?

I received a pop up regarding security certificates when opening a PDF document today.  Is it safe to say "yes" to the installation of the security updates?

If you opened it with Adobe Reader, then yes: "Yes" is safe (I just did the same thing one minute ago).

  • YES Network SCAM!

I woke up yesterday morning - started crusing through the sports channels .... MUCH MUCH MUCH to my surprise I find the YES network.
OMG - Is someone screwing with me ? Or could this really be ? YES YES YES (literally) - its here. I am watching the Joe Girardi show, how awesome is this ? (this is starting off to be a great day!)
All day, I am so psyched, telling all my co-workers how they really have to switch over from COM-CRAP to fios, they have the YES Network now....., the internet is faster and more reliable, the service is cheaper and much better technology in general, why wouldnt you switch over.
I get home, all set to watch the Yanks vs the A's.... - what what what the hell ? I cant find the game ... Whats going on ? (ok maybe its on ESPN or Nationally Broadcast... NO)
What the hell ? Frantically searching the internet/google FIOS and YES and yup - I found what I was dreading - a F'ing press release from YES talking about nationally broadcasting YES to FIOS Customers - EXCEPT FOR THE GAMES!
The day turned out to be one of the worst... I know some of you out there like the additional programming that comes on the YES network, but for me, I feel like someone just took the jelly out of my donut.
Sorry all - I cant afford the $200 bucks for MLB EI, and plus most of the games are in Extra Low Def (thats what SD programming looks like on my HDTV)
FIOS / YES - please please please - work out a deal to get the Yankees games on the YES Network! I need some good news.

I personally tend to agree with the last post... - the channel is pretty useless to me if the games are not on. I know some people enjoy getting the Joe Girardi show, and being able to watch batting practice, but I have seen pretty much all of the Yankeeography and the rest of the filler. Batting practice might be ok to see A-Rod back in action - its cool, but again - I feel like I just go duped.
I dont think I will be watching the channel at all - another / different sports channel would have probably been the better way to go.
My guess is that this is the first step of the Yankees working with MLB to come up with their own package - since the YES network is now being broacast nationally, it wouldnt take that much for them to be able to turn on the games / turn it into a paid package.
Although I am sure MLB, IN-Demand, and all of the other players who have rights to other specific time slots (like the Saturday afternoon, and Sunday evening games will have a fit it that what the Yankees try to do)

  • Returning YES/NO conditionally

I have a table for recording maintenance actions on large ships. The table has a "task_number" column (a code to identify the task) and a "task_class" column which refers to each ship type (small, medium or large ships, for instance). The task numbers are not the PK, and there are duplicates. Each record contains the task number, task class, and more associated information. The task number and task class are never null. I would like to run a query that would return something like this:
If the table contained data such as
    TASK_NUMBER | TASK_CLASS
    X-3161-0 | SMALL
    X-3161-0 | LARGE
    X-1984-3 | LARGE
    P-3535-1 | MEDIUM
    P-3535-1 | SMALL
    P-3535-1 | LARGE
    TASK_NUMBER | SMALL? | MEDIUM? | LARGE?
    X-3161-0 | YES | NO | YES
    X-1984-3 | NO | NO | YES
    P-3535-1 | YES | YES | YES
So, as you can see, every task number should be included, and then the class applicability follows. I do know ahead of time what all of the "classes" are--I don't have to figure that out at run time.
If this can be done easily with plain SQL, I would appreciate it, but PL/SQL is acceptable too.

As requested, here are the CREATEs and INSERTs. Although, I think the last posts may have answered the question. I'll be giving it a try in a bit.
    Thanks for all the help!

I am hoping to create a table with TASK_IDs, which I usually create like this:
    SELECT
         t.task_type || '-' || t.equipment_id || '-' ||
              TO_CHAR(t.task_nr, 'FM099') ||
              TRIM(BOTH ' ' FROM c.task_nr_rev) as TASK_ID,
Note that the TASK_ID is composed of parts from two different tables, t. and c.
So I will have the TASK_IDs followed by the task description, task abbreviation, equipment name, etc, and then YES's and NO's based on whether they apply to each ship class. So at the top, I would have SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE, with a bunch of YES's and NO's below them.
By the way, how do you guys post mono-spaced? I don't see the <code> tags are working here.

  • IMovie 09 iLife 09

Hello out there, I know that I asked this before but I wondered how people are enjoying this new program 09". I am presently using iMovie etc. version 6 and I am very happy with it. I am quite interested in the newest but want to hear some feedback before I consider purchasing it. Most of what I do is simple picture videos, created in "photo to movie" & iMovie then shared to iDVD. I want to know that I can keep most of the feature that are on 06" version and then have some new features???
    Thank you in advance!

iDVD 7.0.3 (from iLife 9 - yes, delightfully confusing) has a few improvements on iDVD 6, like a few new themes and more choice of rendering quality, but by itself not worth the extra money for iLife 9. There are no 'new features'.
iMovie 8 (from etc) is so different to iMovie 6 that it would probably baffle you, like it did me. IMO completely non-intuitive (it has no timeline for a start), and I simply don't use it - also because I can't, as it does not accept a DV signal via an analogue to digital converter.
I also use Photo to Movie, which continues to improve. Stick with your Photo-to-Movie ~ iMovie 6 ~ iDVD 6 combo. But that is just my personal opinion.

  • ILife no, iPhoto Yes...

I want to get iPhoto, but don't want to pay for the iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, or iTunes.
I already have DVD Studio Pro, Final Cut Express HD, and iTunes 6, and I am not interested in GarageBand at all.
Is there a cheaper way to get a non-pirate copy of iPhoto 5?
    Thanks

    Hi William,
As I recall, you install the CD/DVD and go through all the beginning steps until you get to the actual installation. At that point there should be a button for a custom install, and then you choose what you want to install.

  • New mac mini and suitability

Hi all, i was considering buying an imac27inch i7 but am struggling to press tghe buy button (this would be my first mac). I already own 2 pcs 2 laptops. Instead, i am considering buying the mac mini and putting the rest towards a cruise for the family - unlike me not to be so selfish when it comes to technology sss..
anyway, principally i want to play around with ilife - will the base new mini run this without issues? I am also interested in mainly iphone development, again I assume this machine is suitable?
Can this machine be bootcamped to run windows 7? (my durrent E6300 core2 pc runs win7 in 2gb).
All in all, would love i7 27inch but if this little beast will do the business then i might have difficulty jutifying.
last thing.. the 27inch seem to have some issues, any known probs with mini?
    thanks all

I think that is Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes and No, the only real issue I have with my Mac mini is I can't put it down, I just keep using it, I even get up through the night for a quick dabble.
Go book the cruise. (And the Mac mini of course!)

  • After one month or more with out .mac working, can we get our money back?

It has been over one moth with out iweb working properly, I dont care of getting back the money of iLife, but yes to the money I am paing for my .mac account since It has been over one month that is not working and the only reason I have it is for my personal web site that is my work portal, everithing I do (Photography & Film) has to do with interactive web page, so Has been more than a month that I can't give my clients what they pay for and is really bad apple is not doing a thing.
Ye s we have read a lot of postings that the problem is being fix as we think, but really that has been the case since a little bit more than 15 days and as today we have not seen a think fixed, still iWeb don't publish and we have tried everithing apple and users told us and still not a single good renponse.
iWeb 2.0.2 was the worst upgrade from an apple software ever, can we get our .mac accounts money back so we can go to a better service?
    Sincerely, Adolfo Pardo: (www.cinematograf.com

Actually when my account expires on April 18 2008 I am not renewing, any more If I don't get my money back soon I will cancel then my account and move to a more stable company, probably rapidwever or to a host way more stable yahoo or someone who hears the customers and has 24/7 service for errors on their system.

  • Nikon D300 and D70 RAW support broken

I am an Aperture 1.5 user that recently upgraded to 2.x due to my purchase of a D300. I was shooting a D70 before.
I am just sort of getting my Aperture library back in shape (sold my G5 and moved completely to MBP until there is a Sub 2k machine that takes two external monitors and/or apple offers matte displays). I started importing some pictures from my D300 which were made with firmware 1.1. The first thing I noticed is that the autostack on import wasn't working. Moving the time domain slider over does nothing until I reach the far right hand side when it stacks the whole flash card full of files together.
The other odd thing I noticed right off is that it does not auto-rotate shots done in portrait. After noticing that, I changed the import view to the "spreadsheet" format and all of the metadata was blank. Another side effect was that I imported some photos and had aperture place them on a network drive using the year/month of the pictures as the directory structure. This resulted in all of the shots going into a folder structure of 2000/1/ which is completely incorrect as the shots were taken last month and have a correct date/time stamp in the exif header in the files as well as on the actual files themselves.
I though, perhaps I need to have the 1.10 firmware upgrade on my D300, so I applied that and shot some test pictures with the same result, autostack broken, autorotate broken, no metadata at import. I checked the picture post-import and the metadata seemed to all be there (F-stop, picture orientation, lens data, etc...). I though this might be a bug with the D300 format or using 12bit RAW+Jpeg Fine so I took a few shots with my trusty D70 in RAW and had the exact same issues.
I finally gave up and took a series of shots with the D300 in Jpeg Fine. All of the above features worked perfectly this time. I repeated the test with the D70 Jpeg files which also worked perfectly.
The issue only seems to present itself on import. RAW files that are already in my library seem to be fine.
There is some horrible bug in the handling of Nikon raw files from at least two camera bodies. I looked around and there are some other threads on the discussion groups here citing inability to import and some other camera makes and models and I wanted to get a thread started about the core of these issues as I was able to cross-check with two bodies. I have access to a D80 and a D90 body as well to test with but didn't bother as the D70 support should be well baked at this point.
    Here are the numbers:
Hardware: MBP 17" 2.4 "Santa Rosa" 4 gig ram
    OS: 10.5.5
    Aperture: 2.1.2
    RAW Support: 2.3 update
Flash Media: Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III 30mb/sec
Flash Reader: Sandisk "14 in 1" OSX compatible (supposedly)
    D300 Firmware: 1.01 and 1.10 tested
D300 image format: 12 bit RAW (.NEf) + Jpeg large/fine
    D70 Firmware: 2.0
    D70 image format: RAW (.NEF)
So when can we expect a fix for this issue and will this require an export and re-import of all of the shots I have already imported?
This is pretty serious as RAW file handling is the #1 feature of Aperture and Nikon is one of the top two brands of camera. This bug has broken multiple features in the software which should have set off red flags. This also broke support for an extremely old body. This is telling me that Apple has a QA problem in their test rig for Aperture.
This is serious for me personally as this is a heavy use time of year for me and I'm not feeling good about this software. I'm a 1.0 user that upgraded so I have $400 into aperture at this point and I'm not certain it's worth it.
    Thanks

    mindedc wrote:
Was your aperture a clean install or an upgrade like mine?
Yes upgraded from 1.5.6 to 2.0 and now 2.1.2
If an upgrade, did you move an old aperture library or did you export all of your pictures as projects and re-import them to a clean aperture library as I did?
Library was upgraded when the Aperture opened it in V2.0 - no did not bother to do what you did.
Did you purchase your Aperture 2.0 some time ago (when it first came out?) or in the last month as I did?
When it first came out. If you purchased it last month, it should have most, if not all of the updates.
Are you on PPC or Intel as I am?
On Intel - in fact on MBP like you, just 15" instead of 17"
Are you on a platform with a GPU or integrated graphics like I am (Shouldn't make a difference for this but...)?
To be clear, MBP has a dedicated GPU and not integrated graphics like MB.
Do you have the D300/D200 write something into the exif headers using the copyright or image comment as I do?
No image comment but Copyright, new feature since firmware 1.1, on D300.
Do you keep your machine meticulously clean or do you have lots of software installed like I do (xcode, office 2008, vmware, macports)?
I try to keep it clean as much as possible. Meaning that I clean out temp and cache out and try to keep the system up to date. As for apps, yes, yes, Parallels instead, and no, respectively. Have lots of other sw installed.
Do you have other pro apps like I do (final cut)?
    No final cut.
Do you have iLife 08 installed like I do?
    Yes. Also iWork.
Would you be willing to swap a raw image from your D300 with a raw image I have and try to cross-import into each others libraries to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is related to unique aperture installations (mine being a "bad" one) or that it is a setting/configuration issue on a per camera basis?
Actually, this test does not do anything. I don't recall the exact thread but it is here in the Aperture Forum, that stated that if you use a card reader (which is what I do), then there are no issues importing D300 nef files. But if you hook up the camera direct, then the issues you have articulated exists.
That might explain why some people are troubled by this and others are not.
Btw, I have D70 as well and have no issue with the nef files from that camera as well.
It seems to me that there is an issue. But there is also work around if you import via card reader. I realize one should be able to do whichever and not encounter any problems but I do believe it is not a major issue or deal breaker so to speak.
    Cheers
