Illustrator stops respond on opening..PC

Everytime I start Illustrator on my PC it opens and withing seconds the program stops responding..Help? Im on a free trial and running out of time. I want to purchase it maybe, so far Im not getting a good impression. I called tech support and the were useless

What about hardware details?
Does it opens and lets you create a new document and use any tool at all?
Does it just stops, frozen, or shuts down, does appear any message?
The culprit could be the program, its installation or something in your hardware or even a software utility.
You may also try to reinstall it again if other causes are diregraded.
Keep in mind, many thousands of users are running Illustrator without problems, to the best of their impressions.

If it works in a new window then you can drags tabs from the not working window to that new window.
You can also try to close the tabs via Ctrl+W and restore the closed tabs via Shift+Ctrl+T

  • IBook stops responding when opening Safari and then some....

So my iBook is a 2004 model...it's hard to say because I got it from a friend who passed away last year. I use my own sign in name that's not the administrator. The problem started with my iTunes where I would start up the program..it would think a bit after the program opened..then show me the Beach Ball and the program would stop responding. I had it fixed for a short period of time after trying something I found on these discussion boards. However, about 3 weeks ago it stopped working again so I transferred the music to my G5 Desktop...I don't need to have all the music on my laptop..no biggie.
So today...Sept. 17th 2007 I installed a Security Update for my iBook along with an iTunes upgrade and a Quicktime Upgrade. I had been using the internet the night before and all morning without a single problem. After I install these updates I restart the computer. When I go to open the internet..wireless I might add...which has never been a problem because I've never used a direct link for the internet on this computer...it starts to load the apple start page...then fails to continue. I move the mouse and go to click the refresh and it gives me that lovely Beach Ball. I right-click the Safari icon in the dock and it tells me it's not responding. I force quit and restart the computer again...this time when it starts up my Desktop has been reset to the solid blue wallpaper. Still the same problem with Safari. I shut it down and let it rest for the afternoon. When I get home I pull it out of my bag and try one more time....I got my desktop image back...same problem with Safari though. I run the Disk Utility "Repair Disk Permissions" and it gives me this error about a minute into working....
"Disk Utility internal error: Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
I've done this several times and continue to get the same error. I also tried the Verify Disk Permissions and got the same error. It's as if my computer gives up on running programs after about a minute (probably less) and causes all of my programs to stop responding without crashing the entire computer.
The warrantee is surely expired and I don't have the original start up disks the computer came with because it's a hand-me-down. So....if someone could help with ANY advise that would be great. Sorry about the length...
    -Jared

    Hi Jared,
I can help you get new system disks.
If you contact Apple in your country you can request a new set of basic system disks for your machine (I lost mine at one point as well...)
Once, you've done this I'd first run the Apple hardware test, you may also want to try resetting the PRAM
    1.Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
    Regards,
    Pete.

  • Firefox stops responding when opening dialog box

I recently had a problem with redirecting Google results to a variety of random websites. I ended up running ComboFix and that problem went away. Since then however, I have noticed that I cannot open any dialog boxes through Firefox (file upload, save as, download, options). Whenever I try the browser freezes and when i try to do anything it says it is not responding. I then close the program and sometimes I have to end the process in the task manager in order to open Firefox again.

    Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Mail stops responding when opening messages, replying, etc...

For the last few days I've been having an excessively annoying problem with Mail. Almost every time I select a message to view it hangs and goes unresponsive until I force quit it, normally I'd think it was because the message was large and it was just taking a long time to load it, but it happens even with completely text-based emails with only a few lines in them. It also happens when I try to reply to emails sometimes. The Mail app support folder is only 145MB, and I've tried restarting my computer and it still doesn't work.
Mail also doesn't seem to be hogging memory until it goes unresponsive.

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Have you installed Safari 3 Beta ? If so, uninstall it and see whether that makes a difference.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins or system utilities that could interfere with Mail? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Illustrator not responding when using pattern swatches

I made one pattern swatch and when I start using it and than try to save, my illustrator stops responding and just gives me the spinning wheel. I tried to make the pattern smaller, open a new document to paste it in there and save.....nothing works. I can not save any new designs with the pattern swatch. Help please.

I tried that too...still not responding. I ended up just making clipping masks....works too, but the swatches were easier to use.

  • Firefox stops responding. I need to exit and restart or reboot the computer.

I do not get an error message - the application simply hangs up during the opening sequence or stops responding when open. Also, some links within web sites do not work. • 775MB Illustrator file causes Illustrator to stop responding...

I was working on a file this morning and saved it in .Ai format. This afternoon I came back to work on it again and now it won't open. Illustrator hangs, and then stops responding. Is there a way I can fix this?

I don't use Illustrator CC and could not open the file in AI CS5 as there is no .pdf part included.
Nonetheless I took a quick look at the preview in Bridge and would say that there is something terribly wrong with the physical file size. What I see there should never take about 800 MB unless you are using some weird techniques. If all that objects are simple vector shapes it would only be about KB, not MB.
Some CC users who can open the file may or may not verify my point of view.

Microsoft Office 2004 (Word) unable to save files
I have been running Office 2004 on my Intel iMac with Snow Leopard for some time and all of a sudden I cannot save a document. Word just stopped responding and I have to force quit. I can open Word and create a new document but I cannot save it. I reinstalled Word but that didn’t help. Then went to the Internet and found at least one other Mac user having the same problem which it suggests is caused by a recent Mac Security Update:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2004-macword/word-2004-wil l-not-open-or-save-documents/b04eb870-9b0d-4f3b-bb47-b122301e36f6
So I check for a new Mac Security Update and sure enough there was one. I downloaded it and now Word seems to be working, as it should. I can both open and save files. The only problem remaining is that when I open Word I get the following error message “An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library”. I contacted Apple but they were unable to help.
How can I get rid of this error message?

Look, I realize you might have to get your machine working, so this is how you revert back.
    Restore proceedure to pre-Security Update 2012-001 v 1.0 & v 1.1
#1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
Backup files off the computer (not to TimeMachine). If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB/Firewire port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. It's best to have two backups of your data off the machine when trying to restore.
Disconnect all drives now to prevent any mistakes from occuring.
    #2 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility First Aid to >Repair Disk  of your internal drive  (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway)  or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
    #3 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001 v1.0 or v1.1
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001 by checkinig the details and unchecking the blue check box.
#4 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason as they are missing the part they installed into OS X.
If for some freakish reason you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall older programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.

    That's it really.

  • Firefox is taking a long time to open and load my home page, didn't happen while the old version. Also stops responding frequently.

    Hello there,
I have been a loyal user of Firefox since 2005 and have never had and issue with this browser. It has been my top choice when it comes to using it in my devices along with suggesting to other people. The problem I have recently began to experience happened after updating to the newer version...4 or 5, not sure which. My Adobe Flash player is up to date and have no add-ons running that are not part of the default browser.
When I click the icon it takes a long time for the window to show up and a good minute before the homepage shows up and is functional to use. I never had this issues with previous versions so I am assuming there might be some bug causing this particular problem. Also, when I am playing games Firefox decided to stop responding and I have to force quit so my games don't suddenly slow down. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.7; I also tested opening Safari and it opened and loaded the homepage is about 3 seconds, I don't wanna have to switch unless I have to. Any help is appreciated, thanks. :)

    Hi Donekes,
First off I need a little more information to help with troubleshooting.  You say that an error occurs when you "try to re-open the same problem app before the old session completely exits".  Does the error have an error code or dialog display?  It may also be possible to receive an error log.  Here is a knowledge base that explains how to retrieve error logs.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/54E361E3FF477EC186256C320068184F?OpenDocument
If you are able to get that information then please post.  Have a good day.

  • When trying to open a link in the page I am on and open it in a new Tab the browser stops responding.

I open the browser and the Hime Page opens as expected. When I open a link to an item or article on the page in a new Tab Firefox stops responding and thye top line on the screen shows that to be the case. The only way to resolve the issue is to exit or close Firefox and start again. This has just started yesterday (Oct 12) as before that the process worked fine.
When I open a new Tab and then type in a new web site it will open and allow access with no problem, provided I have not open a link as outlined in the first paragraph. I can open several tabs in this manner and Firefox works as expected. But if I try to link from any page and open in a new Tab i get the "not responding" situation again.
After closing Firefox so I can restart it, the browser will open but the first screen will be a blank tab rather than my home page. I can open web sites and Firefox proceeds as expected as long as I do not try to open a link from within the page in a new Tab. I get the same "Not responding" situation.
If I immediately close Firefox after it opens without my homepage and then restart it then my home page will open as expected.
I have not made any changes to programs or setups in Firefox or on my computer in the immediate time before the problem started.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • I  just upgraded to Itunes 10.4 but Itunes stops responding as soon as I open it! What do I do?

I just upgraded Itunes but after I restarted my computer it wont open.
I opened it with safe mode using the shift and ctrl buttons but when it opened it stopped responding.
No matter how many times I try it stops responding.
    Please help me!!
    How do I fix this?

    1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.
