ILM generates partitions with names longer than 30 characters

Hi ,
I am not sure if there is a team that supports ILM, as I understand maybe you can help me on this forum.
When scanning for events on the Lifecycle Events Calendar tab, we hit ORA-12899: value too large for column
Double checking we see that the error is legitimate, as the partition name which is the column that generates this error, is 35 characters long. Oracle documentation strictly limits the column names to 30 chars.
Hence, I need to see who creates these partitions in order to see how can I reproduce the issue and maybe opening a new bug.
Does ILM creates the partitions and controls the partition name length?
Any ideas on how to progress this?

Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and run the following after putting that window in the front in the Finder:
tell application "Finder"
set the_files to {}
repeat with this_file in (get every file of entire contents of (folder of window 1))
if (count (get name of this_file)) > 30 then
set the_files to the_files & (this_file as alias)
end if
end repeat
end tell
the_files

  • Getting this error when saving: Names longer than 31 characters are not supported on the destination volume

I've just tried to save a document in Pages and got this error
Names longer than 31 characters are not supported on the destination volume
Never had a problem like this before. I haven't changed disks or formatted disks. Running latest Yosemite 10.10
The only reference I can find to this error on the internet says that it's for applications prior to OS X which I think we can discount.
The only other reference I can find in the support community relates to one person with problems saving attachments in Mail and dates from early 2014.
Can anybody give me a suggestion on what I might need to do?
    Thanks

What format are you saving to?
Where are you saving the files to and what is that volume formatted as?
Have you tested with files from other applications, such as TextEdit?

Very spooky. Not always reproducible, but it happened to me while using Office365-Outlook web-based email (saving a PDF).

  • Name longer than 31 Characters or 23?

I'm using Numbers 3.0.1 and getting a "Names longer that 31 characters are not supported on the destination volume" message. Well, the new file name is 27 characters long? Finely, the new document was saved with a name 23 characters long. I have many PDF documents with very long names. Is there a reason to limit a files names to 23 characters? This requirement while using Numbers seems to be going back towards DOS, does any one remember DOS.
After closing the new 23 character name document the name may be changed to a very long name and then opened with Numbers 3.0.1. What were they thinking?

I haven't seen a message like that in a long time.  My guess is the 31 includes the name and a "." and the extension of "numbers". 31-1-7=23 so the 23 character limit for the name makes sense with respect to the error message.
I have seen no problem naming files with long names using Numbers. What type of volume are you saving the file to?

  • Any way to create tablespace with name greater than 30 characters ?

Is there any way to create tablespace greater than 30 characters on solaris 10 and Oracle 10g. Any way ? because i have no other option.

    desc dba_tablespaces
So clearly the answer is NO.
Tablespace names are invisible and irrelevant. Why the question?

  • Can automator identify file names longer than a specified number of characters?

I have a lot of data that I need to ultimately archive to a PC solution but it currently has a lot of files with names longer than 256 characters.  I know I can batch update the names with automator, but what about an easy way to identify them?? Is there a way to identify file names based on file name length?

Not in Automator.  There are other ways but the question is once you have the files what do you plan to rename them. You can't just cut off all the chars above 256 as this will not ensure uniqueness.
So what convention will you use to make the names unique?
As for getting the files. This command run in the terminal will return all filenames over N long
    ls | awk 'length ($0) > N'
    so in your case
    ls | awk 'length ($0) > 255'
So this could be run from an Automator workflow or Applescript to capture the filenames you want to change. But again it's the renaming that is tricky.

  • Tag attributes can't be longer than 8 characters?

              Hi,
I am in the process of migrating a web application from another server to Weblogic
7.0 and have run into the problem that none of my tags with attributes longer
than 8 characters seems to work. The error message I get is :
/Login.jsp(8): Error in using tag library uri='webtool.tld' prefix='tool': The
Tag class '<classname>' has no setter method corresponding to TLD declared attribute
              '<attribute name>', (JSP 1.1 spec, 5.4.1)
probably occurred due to an error in /Login.jsp line 8:
              <%@ taglib uri="webtool.tld" prefix="tool" %>
I can make this go away by shortening the attribute name, but I have a lot of
attributes with long names...is the limit configurable somwhere?
              Thanks in advance,
              Karen

So I think the problem is due to the namespace length. I'm right?
We can't change the consumed webservice to reduce namespace length and our customer ask us to solve it in PI. Is there any way to change the namespace before to be treated and get a correct application error?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Neetesh,
we developed our own adapter module. We use it in our receiver soap adapter, module tab, before and after the standard module sap.com/com.sap.aii.af.soapadapter/XISOAPAdapterBean.
In this audit log secuence you can see that the problem seems not to be solved, because the error is triggered when processing response message inside adapter module sap.com/com.sap.aii.af.soapadapter/XISOAPAdapterBean, so our module is not called and the problem remains.

  • Error on passing paramter names longer than 16 char on portal import page

After created a transport set, we used portal import page to import it.
However, when we select that transport set and click "import", an 404 error occured right away. The url is:
    /pls/portal/PORTAL.wwutl_ui_export_import.import_eds
When we check the Apache error logs, it seemed all parameter names that are longer than 16 characters in the page's html form were passed wrongly. Those characters
after the 16th character of the parameters' names were some unreadable or wrong
ones. For example, P_EXPLICIT_MODE_EDS was passed as P_EXPLICIT_MODE_ˆ„N to the
backend pl/sql procedure and that's why there was a "SIGNATURE (parameter names)
    MISMATCH" error I think.
My question is actually why the internal portal pages couldn't pass parameter
names that are longer than 16 characters. Are there some settings wrong with
the portal metadata database or oracle portal itself, or even our linux system? Was it because maybe we set the multilanguage-support for our portal?
This error also happens in some other portal internal pages. Please help and you can also contact me at email: [email protected]
    Thanks a lot!

Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
    What I did wrong was:
    - not copying the master image to the nbi folder
    - selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:
    http://www.shellharbourd.det.nsw.edu.au/pdf/misc/osxrestoringnet.pdf
This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder.

I'm getting an error using Restore-SPSite thats most likely caused by URL's longer than 260 characters. How can I find out which URL's are too long? It's a huge site collection so it's not an option to search manually.

check this blog, allows you to take an inventory of all files in your web application and flag those files where the path (or URL) is longer than 260 characters.

    Hello Sap Experts,
The user is getting an error on saving the bank infotype. (0009). The user is trying to create a IT0009 for an international assignee. The error is "entry in field bank account number is longer than 10 characters.
The default characters allowed maximum specified in the technical field is 18 characters. The abaper also checked and confirmed that it is specified as 18 characters.
This is only for a single employee.
    Please provide your suggestions.
    Thanks
    Jyothsna

    Jyothsna,
You need to extend Bank Account number length....even though 18 will be the max length..by default assignment of length will be different from country to country. So you need to extend the length of Bank a/c number in trasaction OY17.....select the country and change the bank a/c number length to 18 and Checking rule to 5 max value length.

  • LSK longer than 30 characters ?

    Hi !
Is it possible to set the length of Legacy System Key to be longer than 30 characters ?
    Thank you for your help!
    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi,
if you speak about legacy keys for Contract account or Contract then you can create customer includes CI_EVER(tbl EVER )
    and CI_FKKVK (tbl FKKVK).
For Contract exist enhancement "SMOD_EMDK0001 - IS-U: Contract - Subscreen Integration and Field Check".
For Contract account exist user-exit PBO EXIT_SAPLES37_030 and PAI EXIT_SAPLES37_031.
For customer screen you define PBO, PAI method and via spro hide standard field.
May be exist customizing possibility to change length LSK, but i not found and always using abap-code((

I was able to create a concept by using the Function module 'SOTR_STRING_CREATE_CONCEPT'. Now, I need to create a text and then read the text where ever I want (the text can be longer than 132 characters and also may contain special characters) from abap functions as per my requirement.
my requirement is not based only on SAP Scripts.
