ILOM - Command line OK but no web access

On a SUN FIRE X4100 M2, we have command line access to the ILOM but the ILOM's web UI does not respond. Is this something that can be turned on or off, or is there a hardware problem with the SP? If it needs to be turned back on, what is the command to do that?
Thanks,
Scot

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Command Line Discoverer 10g

    Hello Forum Friends,
Long time no comms!! Hope all the regulars are keeping well.
Question, the majority of my experiences with Discoverer have come from version 4, including admin and desktop. I've recently transferred to a new job, and although they have access to 4, some of their customers only have 10g.
    Could someone tell me if the functionallity of uising command line prompts such as;
    DIS51USR.EXE /connect user_name/password@database /apps_user /apps_responsibility "Resp_name"
    /opendb "user_name:workbook_name" /sheet ALL
is still available in version 10g? I've hit a few stumbling blocks today, and a few errors, i think could be related to the <workbook name> syntax, but have also read on the forums that 10 g (is this also called plus?) does not really have the same functionality when it comes to creating batch files etc?
    Many thanks
    Simon

    Good Morning.
    After reading through a few bits and pieces on the OTN, i've now attempted to use the following command line syntax but to no avail;
    C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin\dis51usr.exe /connect sysadmin/password@db/apps_user/opendb
    I reveive the error "Failed to Connect to database - ORA - 12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified" , okay so this tells me there is an issue with my tns names connection, but upon review this all seems fine, i can connect using the same "DB name" in the syntax above logging in manually, i'm connecting to both standard and applications euls, there are no entries in the GYWID or the Foundation name within tools options conections in Desktop, but this makes no difference to my manual connection, in fact when i do add the standard entries of;
    Gateway User ID: applsyspub/pub
    Foundation Name: apps
    i can not connect manually.
Any suggestions would be great, many thanks in advance.

  • How can I deploy by command line on AS 10.1.3?

I have used oracle AS 10.1.3.
I have created ear file from command line.
But I don't know how i can deploy by command line?
However i can deploy from Web manage.
So, Please tell me How i can deploy by command line when i want?
    Thx

    Hello,
In OracleAS 10g R3 (10.1.3.x) you can deploy by command line using the admin_client.jar utility, that is exposed also as Apache Ant tasks. In 10.1.3.x you can use the same tool to deploy in a single stand alone OC4J instance to a multi-nodees cluster managed by OPMN.
Here the documentation about this utility:
    - Deployment Guide
    - Deploying with the admin_client.jar Utility
-Deploying with the OC4J Ant Tasks

  • My firefox has no command line

My firefox has no command line, or any other web developer tools, for that matter. In the Web Developer menu, the only tool I have is page source. I have re-installed firefox several times, and installed the different channels, but still no dice.

    Did you try Safe Mode?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

  • Creating ACLs via command-line

Is it possible to create ACLs using a command-line utility?
We are developing an application that will initially have 5000 users and will expand to 15000 users.
When new users are detected in Microsoft Exchange we create a new user using the command-line (unix) but we also need to create a custom ACL for that user that includes existing ACEs for existing GROUPS that will be providing support.
This is so that we can drop new Oracle reports into the users folders (again using command-line utilities) and have the reports use the ACL from the folder they are dropped into.
    Thanks for any help.
    null

Thanks for your response Tom. See my post above 15 items down labeled 'TAR submitted ...'.
Oracle provided sample code (listed in the above mentioned POST) that works just fine to create ACLs.
I am very interested in your suggestion to us an agent though because there does not appear to be any way to 'manage' objects (delete groups/acls, etc) through XML.
Also, Joyce indicated several weeks ago that Oracle does not support loading the class files and using Java from with Oracle DB to manage the objects.
Our application will rollout in a few weeks and we still need to automate the management of user creation/deletion as well as ACL modification for over 5,000 users.
The application is to automate the production and distribution of weekly reports using Oracle Reports server to produce PDF report files.
The biggest problem area is not the mechanical process of creating the reports but rather the proper architecture to enable our customer service and technical support departments to assist the users when problems arise.
    Our current approace is:
    1. Create a custom ACL for each user with ACEs that allow the proper access by tech support and customer service.
    2. Create a report folder for each user, owned by system with the user's custom ACL applied to it.
    3. Automatically generate the reports with Oracle Reports server, and load them into IFS using XML files. Prior to the load IFSMODE is used to have the user's report folder ACL (the PARENT) assigned to the report when it is loaded.
We would like tech support to be able to rerun a user's report if necessary but we can't figure out how to let tech support use the UI to submit the job to the report server, load the report into IFS and assign the proper ACL.
Will the soon-to-be-released IFS 1.1 allow its Java classes to be loaded in the soon-to-be-released 8.1.7 so that IFS management can be handled from within the database?
One last note - there are at least a dozen requests in this forum for more extensive documentation on using XML to automate the IFS functionality.
I would be willing to assist in any such project you guys put together including, writing or proofing documentation, testing sample code, etc. I would need to do this after hours on my NT environment.
    Thanks again for the response.

    Hi 23r23,
While there might be a finite limit to the number of characters in the command for the Run object, it is definitely more than your current command.
The problem in your case sems to be the path of your files. Since you have spaces in the folder names, you will have to enclose this in two sets of double-qoutes as below:
    "cmd /c move /y ""C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Lookout 5.1\2004\*.*"" \\leo-2k1\Groups\Film\Data\2004"
Normally, as with the DOS command prompt, you would need only one set of double qoutes with paths that have spaces. However, Lookout expects two sets of double-quotes because one set of double-qoute is part of the command.
About moving the file while Spreadsheet object is writing to it, I don't think doing th
is is a good idea even if the cmd allowed it. Anyways, you can try it out to see if it does.

    Khalid

  • Command line compiler (rhcl.exe) adds on rogue full pathways into [Merge Files] of .hhp

I'm using RH 9 and generating chm outputs on my Win 7 64-bit computer.
I have a core chm help file and several sub chm helps that get merged into it.
I have a batch file that regularly compiles our help files locally and then copies them into a common local directory. It then copies them up to a mapped network drive where they are picked up by the nightly build of our installer.
The problem I have, is that the command line compiler (rhcl.exe) is adding on a full pathway for all the sub helps listed in the [Merge Files] section of the core help's .hhp file, causing these problems:
    1) First of all, the pathways are wrong. The pathway it puts on is from the location of my .xpj file of my core help project. The output directory for the compiler is actually sending all the helps to a different local directory.
    2) These need to be relative, and should not have full pathways. The full pathways make it so that when I click on a subhelp TOC entry that subhelp's topic opens up in an entirely different window instead of merged into the core help's window. (See #13 on Peter's helpful site here about the problem with absolute paths: http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh9/using_rh9.htm)
Here' what I want it to look like (the good):
    [MERGE FILES]
    pcdmisportable.chm
    pcdmistutor.chm
    pcdmisvision.chm
    pcdmislaser.chm
    pcdmiscmm.chm
    pcdmisUJB.chm
    pcdbasic.chm
    toolkitmodulesvwmp.chm
    pcdmisdci.chm
    toolkitmodules.chm
    pcdmisnc.chm
    pcdmisip.chm
    toolkitmodulesblade.chm
    pcdmisregistry.chm
    pcdmisfixturing.chm
Here's what it looked like after the command line compile (the bad and the ugly):
    [MERGE FILES]
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmisportable.chm
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmistutor.chm
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmisvision.chm
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmislaser.chm
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmiscmm.chm

    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\toolkitmodulesblade.chm
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmisregistry.chm
    d:\hg\pcdmisqa\pcdlrn\help\corehelp\pcdmisfixturing.chm
    I've done the following ....
I've checked my .xpj file and they have relative paths only.
    I've deleted my .cpd file.
I've removed chm references from my rhbag.apj.
... and the hhp file still gets modified with pathways to my core project
    directory tacked on:
It's strange; because if I compile without the command line, by opening the project and running the generation inside of RH, I don't get the problem where it re-writes the [Merge Files] section with the pathnames.
Any ideas on where are these rogue full pathways coming from and how I can fix it? Or is it just a bug with the command line version of the compiler that Adobe will need to fix?

I don't use command line generation but to the best of my knowledge, this has not been fixed.

  • XSL-FO Stylesheets (Oracle XSLT processor via command line)

How does one go about editing BIP XSL-FO stylesheets converted from the MSWord plug in by using external tools?
The converted files have many, many calls to Oracle functions that are unrecognized by the editing tools.
We are using Stylus Studio and are getting errors on functions calls such as:
    <xsl:variable name="_XDOXSLTCTX" select="xdoxslt:set_xslt_locale($_XDOCTX, $_XDOLOCALE, $_XDOTIMEZONE, $_XDOCALENDAR, concat($_XDODFOVERRIDE,' ',$_XDOCURMASKS,' ',$_XDONFSEPARATORS))"/>
This is but one example of course. There are many calls in each template and they are quite varied.
Is there a way to "register" these with the tools so that they can call them (via tnsnames?). Even to having them ignored would be preferable to having the previewer completely fail.
    Scott

    Hi Scott.
there's a JavaAPI which you can use. So it's not really a command line interface, but perhaps it can fullfill you requirements.

  • Misinterpreting asterisk as command line argument

I want to convert arithmetic expressions from infixed to postfixed. I want to be able to enter the expression on the command line. But when I do same, asterisks are not treated as a character in the string for:

    For instance, if I enter: ( 2 + 3 ) * 5
    the loop:
    for (int i = 0; i <arg.length; i++)
    System.out.println(arg);
would print each symbol correctly, except the asterisk. It would list all the files and subdirectories of the current directory. How can I have the program recognizing the asterisk as an asterisk?

Yep, sure does. Just tested it myself out of curiosity.

  • Latest DNG converter not working in command-line mode

Today I downloaded Adobe's latest DNG converter. It is failing with both .NEF and .CR2 files when run in command-line mode. It does appear to work in GUI mode. The switches+arguments I've used for my tests are:
    -u -e -p1 filename.CR2
    (or filename.NEF)
With an older (CS2) version of the converter, the above arguments produce a .DNG output file as expected (with .CR2 files; I didn't try it with D3 .NEF files; surely that older version doesn't support the D3's format).
With the very latest version, running the program with the above command produces no output. There's no error message.
The 'readme' file that comes with the converter doesn't include any information about command-line usage, but I did find a PDF file covering this (adobe.com/products/dng/pdfs/dng_commandline.pdf). The switches+arguments shown in the PDF file appear to be exactly the ones I used in the past.
I'm sure I'll need to use the most recent version to convert D3 RAW files. Is there something wrong with how I'm specifying its command-line switches/arguments?

It struck me silly that I've been running tests with v.3.3 when 5.2 is the latest, so I downloaded it. The setup "wizard"...hmm, why is it a "wizard"? It provides no choice of installation path. I didn't realize this because immediately after I'd launched it, I knocked something onto the floor, reached down to pick it up ... and looked back up just in time to see the "wizard" complete the installation...but where, I didn't know. It didn't display any information about where it had installed the app. Adventures In Discoverability. :) I hunted around on the hard drive until I found it (C:\Program Files\Adobe -- well, at least you can launch it if you think to look for it in the 'Start' menu). So ... that needs a bit of work. Anyway, I copied the app into a directory of my choice -- one that's in my system's %PATH%, replacing spaces in the name with underscores. It works fine in that directory -- no problem with the name-change as far as I can tell. Now back to the fun stuff...
This version doesn't seem to require a fully qualified path to the input file or to the output directory when "-d" is used. That's an improvement. IOW, this worked:
    converter -p1 -d DNG filename
where "converter" is the program's name, "DNG" is the name of a subdirectory of the directory where I'm running the test, and "filename" is the name of a RAW file in that directory.
The program still doesn't know how to create a directory (or ask about creating one if it doesn't exist). Fails silently if "-d" is used and the specified directory doesn't exist. But at least this version returns an exit code of 1 due to the failure -- better than returning 0.
Still doesn't understand wildcards. Hope done sprang eternal there for a moment, but oh well. Back to "for" loops...
Still fails silently, returning exit code 0 (oops), if a nonsensical command-line is used (e.g., using "-c" as the only argument).
Hey, how about a truly silly command-line error -- a command line including both "-c" and "-u". What happens? It "consumes" the first of the two mutually exclusive switches, ignoring the second -- you get a compressed DNG file. Swap the order of the switches, and you get an uncompressed file. (I'd vote for a syntax-error message in that case, m'self.)
Interestingly strange little program...If I run it from the command line, it drops back to the command line immediately after I press ENTER. That makes it appear to have failed. But it hasn't -- it's running in the background, and a few seconds later the DNG file is created. But, if I run it from within a batch file, it does NOT return control to me until it has completed writing the output file. Wonder what's up with that.
    Fun stuff. :)
