  • Implementing a Lock In Amplifier using a PCI-6034E DAQ card

I am looking for a lock-in amplifier and have read about the Lock-in Amplifier kit provided by NI. I am wonder in is it possible to implement a solution with a PCI-6034E DAQ card instead of the 4472? And if so what would be the limitions of using the 6034 for this application?

The requirements for the Lock In Amplifier are contained within the document linked bellow. The S series can be used with the Lock In Amplifier but not the E-series.

By this I mean does it tell you the name of the actual images.

But if the file has been embedded, the file name is lost.

  • I want to know the practical use of 0.0.0.0 IP

Pls forward how to use this IP in practical application.

Address 0.0.0.0 with a mask of 0.0.0.0 is the Default Route (aka :"Gateway of Last Resort")
It's a fairly popular convention in that Microsoft uses it, *nix uses it, Cisco uses it, and pretty much every other piece of networking equipment in recent history uses it.
The Default Route can be entered as a static route (ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 {next hop address or interface ID} {Optional (but rarely used for Default route) Metric}. The Default can also be learned through a routing protocol or DHCP assignment.

  • Noise in thermocouple measurement using PCI-6024E DAQ card

I am using a PCI-6024E DAQ card for thermocouple(TC) measurement. The
TC is installed in the mold cavity of an injection molding (IM)
machine. The leads from the TC are connected to the DAQ card using a
CB-68LP board. I made a  temperature mesurment task in LabView 7.0
with the two leads from TC as differential inputs and used CJC value of
    25 deg C.
The problem is that when the IM machine is OFF, I get a reasonable temp
reading with some slight noise but as soon as I turn ON the IM machine,
the temp readings go wild with a lot of variations around the mean
value. The temp values also don't go to higher values when the TC is in
contact with the molten plastic in the IM machine.
Do I need to ground something here or put a resistor in the I/O board?
BTW the IM machine is grounded and the TC give correct temp values when
connected to a hand-held temp reader.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hello  Aftab,
Looks like you need to use bias resistors to reduce the noise. Check out the following tutorial for more information about how to use bias resistors.

  • Mac G4 crashes using continuous generation with PCI-1200 DAQ card

I've been trying to use a PCI-1200 DAQ card with a Mac G4 to create a continuous analog output signal. The problem is that the computer locks up after a while (a few minutes). I have been using the Generate Continuous Sine Wave vi, but the problem remains.
I've tried slow signals (10Hz) and fast signals (2kHz) but the computer still seems to crash. I have no clue what is going on!

    bissdp,
The first thing I would recommend is making sure you have the latest version of the driver:
www.ni.com > Support > Drivers and Updates > Current Versions > Multifunction DAQ
Another you could try is to determine what component is causing the computer to lock up. Use a process explorer utility to try to see what processes are locked up. A search in google might turn up utilities like this one: (http://www.clarkwoodsoftware.com/peekaboo/)
Keep in mind heat or speed issues. It may sound funny, but you may want to try opening the computer case and making sure the board has enough air flow to keep it cool.
These are just some ideas for now, I hope they help.

  • Displaying and saving multichannel waveforms using PCI-6221 DAQmx card

I am trying to obtain voltage readings at 8000 kHz from 9 channels using a PCI-6221 DAQmx card. The waveforms are to be displayed on individual charts while being saved. I have run into problems when I have 4 channels reading in at the same time. The charts stop displaying the data. Since the program will be running within another program where video acquisition is being done, space/buffer size is a very large consideration. If anyone can offer any suggestions about being able to display and save this data without losing seconds of information, the help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nina

    Hello Nins,
The first thing to notice is that you are going far beyond the specifications of the 6221 if in fact you are sampling at 8000 kHz. Something I can tell you is that when you are performing fast acquisitions and processing the data at the same time, it is sometimes advised to have an acquisition loop (procucer loop) and a processing loop (consumer loop) and transfer data between the two. That way, you can put a wait in the consumer loop and use a waveform graph to plot the data rather than using a Chart wich requires memory.
    Hope this helps some...

  • How to avoid dependance between output digital port with a PCI 1200 daq card?

    Hello,

How to configure a robust state (high logic level) on a line of a port??
Does anybody have an idea on this problem?

    Hello,
    I've found the problem
    The PCI1200 has a chip 8255 for Digital I/O
If I use the bad VI, it reconfigures the port and all the lines go in a low logic state
so I'd to write only on the port or the line without reconfigure the port
So the good VI in the palett is: Port Write and not Digital Port write!
    See attached file..
    Thanks

  • Can the M Series PCI 6221 control 24 VDC solenoid valves like the NI 9477?

    Hi,
I am working on a project where three solenoid valves requiring 24 VDC and 8 Watts must be controlled by a PCI 6221 multifunction DAQ.
I read on the NI website that an external power supply and the NI 9477 can be used together to actuate solenoid valves.  Since I already have the PCI 6221,
I was wondering if an external power supply would allow the PCI 6221 to power the valves.
    Sincerely,
    Tristram Jordan

    Hey,
Is there any way to control solenoid valves using the PCI 6221 DAQ card? Is it possible for the DAQ card to control a driver circuit for the valves?
If there isn't an alternate way to control the valves, which DAQ do you recommend purchasing to control 3 solenoid valves and a pressure transducer?
I am not familiar with the compactDAQ. Does the digital output module need to connect to a DAQ card within the computer? If not, how does it communicate with the computer?
    Sincerely,
    Tristram Jordan

  • How to switch multiple relays using PCI 6601 DAQ card

What is the specification of the digital output value given from the PCI 6601 DAQ card? How to develop LAB VIEW code to switch a relay? Can anybody please explain?

    Hi hasi,
did you read the manual and the specs of the PCI6601? It says: "5V TTL/CMOS compatible"...
You shouldn't expect to much current from a simple DO pin - probably it's not enough to drive your relay!

  • 32 bit I/O using PCI-6533 DAQ card

I am thinking of purchasing the PCI-6533 DAQ card and need to know if the the 32 bits can be configured individually as input or output. I know that they can for unstrobed and static applications but I need to be using strobed or non-static. I also know that the you can set the 8 bit ports as input or output ports for highspeed. So my question is... Can I configure each individual line as input or output for highspeed applications?

    Hi,
Unfortunately, the 653x boards can only be configured on a line-by-line basis for asynchronous digital I/O.
When in synchronous pattern acquisition/generation mode, the 653x is divided into 2 groups (2 ports in each group). These two groups can be operated independently as input or output and at different clock frequencies. However, all lines on both ports of a group are configured in the same way.
If you are looking for completely individually controlled lines in a pattern generation/acquisition application, you might consider the new high-speed digital board (NI 655x).
Hope that helps. Have a good day.

  • What is the maximum number of samples that can be acquired with a single trigger using PCI-6036E DAQ card?

    1. My PCI-6036E card has a FIFO of 1024 bytes in AI. Maximum how many samples can be acquired with single trigger for digitizing a waveform?
    2. PCI-6036E DAQ card has got a AO with 10ks/s update rate? Can I generate a pulsed output with the AO of this card? I need a pulse of, say, 5 V and 1 kHz frequency.

    Giri,
1.The trigger is usually for enabling the acquisition. I mean, when it is logic zero, you acquire nothing; however, when it is logic one, you start acquiring your waveform, and you can acquire continuously without having to worry about how many samples, unless you want to set your program for doing so. You can acquire continuously by implementing buffer acquisition. Finally, the FIFO that is in the board will not affect the buffer acquisition.
2.Yes, you can do that! You can generate your 5V signal with that specific frequency, and you should not have any problems, because the freq fits in the update rate.
I hope this information is helpful.

  • How do i generate the TTL pulse from PCI 6024E DAQ card

Hi, I'm trying to write a program which generates a single TTL pulse when it is run. My goal is to generate the pulse, send it to the output channel of my PCI 6024E DAQ card, and then use a BNC cable, to display the signal on the oscilloscope. I have written the code and I think it appears fine but when I try to view the signal on the scope I am unable to see the pulse. I have tried slowing down the sweep on the scope and have adjusted the voltage and time scales but have not seen any response. After examing my DAQ card, I noticed that none of the PFI/TRIG terminals on the card are wired; the output channel connects to terminals for DAC0OUT and Ground. I'm wondering if this pin needs to be wired in orde
r to generate the pulse since PFI0/TRIG1 is the start trigger terminal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
You are looking for a retriggerable pulse generation. Please check the Generate Retriggerable Pulse (DAQ-STC).vi example that ships with LabVIEW.

  • How can I connect the output of a force transducer unit(BNC cable) to the PCI-6036E DAQ card via the SCB-68 block connector?

I m using the 404A force transducer unit by Aurora Scientific and i want to connect the (converted to Volt) output, which is a BNC cable, to the PCI-6036E DAQ card via the SCB-68 connector block, facing difficulties in choosing the correct input mode for my signal(couldn t clear this using the manual), setting the switches and which channel shall i use in the block connector in order to configure ot with LABVIEW

    Hi MSc Student,
Connecting your transducer to the 6036E card via the SCB-68 connector block should be pretty straight forward. You have 2 choices of input mode, Referenced Single Ended (RSE) this is where you will connect the screen of the BNC cable to a ground connection for the DAQ card in the SCB-68 and the other to any analogue input channel . These are listed in the device pinouts in the help section of MAX, under the 68 pin devices section. The terminal block numbers correspond to the DAQ card's pin numbers. Another method, which avoids ground loop problems would be to use the Differential connection and connect the signal and ground connections of the BNC cable to a differential analogue input, these are listed in the 6036E manual and in th
e MAX help section again. the disadvantage to using this method is 2 analogue input channels are used and you must use the lowest 8 analogue input channels for differential inputs.
The switch settings that you need can be found in the manual for the SCB-68 in table 2-1, the manual can be found here : http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/320745b.pdf
The switches are for power to extra signal conditioning and the cold junction compensation for thermocouples which in your case you do not need so set the switches to the positions in the first box ie Direct feedthrough, with temperature sensor disabled and accessory power disabled. The channel you use should not matter the only ting to remember will be that if you use differential mode measurement that you will be connecting the signals to AI(n) and AI(n+8) so differential input 0 is across the connectors for AI0 and AI(8). The channel numbers corespond to the analogue input number for the card.
    I hope this information helps,
