IMac is making a loud nose through the speaker and then freezes.

I have a 17" iMac that is approximately 2 years old. It has worked well until a few months ago when it started re-booting occasionally and now has started freezing up and making a loud thumping noise through the speakers. I suspect a power supply problem but would this explain the loud noise?

First off try:

+1. Shut down the computer.+
+2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
+4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+

Then after you get it up and running got to: System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items and check to see what kind of junk is set to startup at log-in.
Next open the Dashboard, check for and disable any suspicious widgets that have sounds and alerts.
Then if the iMac is still producing odd sounds check to see if there isn't an application that has the internal mic turned on and passing the sound thru to the output buy lightly tapping on the hole next to the iSight camera.

When restoring my backup from my old iphone via my computer to my new iphone, it gets all the way through the restore and then at the end it says there was an error and doesn't restore. Doesn't say what error.

I have done all the above. I am in Germany using an iPad 2, trying to call an iPad 2 in the UK. My IPad goes through the call and then times out. I have been on the phone to the receiver at the time so know they had their iPad on.
What do you mean that you can't "call" an iPad in the UK?? That doesn't particularly make sense. You can email to an iPad or text them, but the iPad is not a phone, so how do you expect to "call" them??

every time I try to sync my phone and restore my content after I updated my iPhone, iTunes goes through the prompts and then says "cancelling sync" at step 5. I cannot restore my apps or music!
when i try to sync my music which i have on my PC's itunes it will just not transfere on the phone. everything will sync [apps, videos, contacts] but the music will just not transfere.
and when i try to download the music from the phone's itunes store it will say "Error. Tap again to retry".
Thera are no more details i have! i have no idea why the songs will not sync and will not download! -
I've updated my ipad to iso7 now the sound is distorted through the speaker and headphones, it is unusable! I wouldn't dare to update my iphone. Is anyone else having this problem? Can't seem to find any fixes online?
A reset should fix it:
Double click the Home button. Slide up with one finger on ALL your apps to close them.
Then, Press the Sleep/Wake button + Home button and hold 15 seconds or until you see the Apple logo.
This will reset your device without erasing data, apps or settings. -

My iPod touch 4g is making a static noise in the speaker and in headphones help!!!!!!
It makes this loud static/cracking noise out of the speaker whenever I try to play music or a video . It also does this out of the headphone jack to I know this because I have a brand new pair of beats by dre solo hds and there's still static in the bit when I tried it on a different device the headphones worked perfectly fine.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Im really stressed about my Imac. Its about 3.5 years old. I never had a problem with it until today. I turned it on and all of a sudden it went grey with an apple in the middle. Then it turns black! So what can be wrong with it? Does this mean I lost everything on my computer. I dont have any back up files on my Imac cause I never thought this would happen. Im worried cause I have all my photos on it and music. What should i do? My main thing is that I don't want to lose my stuff on my Imac.You could see if the suspect iMac can be

Connected to another Mac, with a proper
FireWire cable, the other Mac could see
the hard disk drive in your suspect Mac
as just another external hard drive; and
you could try to reclaim files from there
into the healthy Mac's drive or burn the
files over onto removable disc media.
What computer are you using to post here?

pertain to the 'first series' flat panel G4
iMac, the symptoms and some issues
behind them would not be dissimilar in
a G5 verses those in a G4...}
Will the computer start up in SafeBoot?
That's with the Shift key held awhile
until the screen appears, and a login
window is there. If you can do that,
then you may also be able to repair
disk permissions and see if it would
restart. And, you could also see if
the computer can start from the OS X
installer disc; to run 'repair disk' or
also to try to run Startup Manager
and see if you can get the Apple
Hardware Test to start the Mac.
There may be some problem, but to
identify the cause will involve some
troubleshooting. My immediate issue
in this question is my lack of sleep.
So, I may have to mentally shut down
for a time and reboot tomorrow!
You could try and see if resetting the PRAM
can help this, since it is non-invasive:
Try resetting the P-RAM. Hold optionapple+pr
keys down until you hear the boot chime 3 times.
You can invoke the Startup Manager on bootup
by holding down the Option key to see choices
to include a Hardware Test on an installer disc.

Over the past few months I have been having issues every time that I log onto my Hotmail account. My Foxfire has seemed to be "buggy" for the past three upgrades but now mostly everything is working well. When I log onto one of my Hotmail accounts, I can start to check it and within a minute or two, Foxfire will freeze and I have to Force Quit. To my knowledge, I'm not missing any PlugIns, I have not changed anything in my settings, yet it constantly freezes. I have to Force Quit Foxfire every single time I want to check my email. I really like FoxFire and don't want to go back to Safari - Help!

Also, my bookmarks save(exported) file is 12,924 KB in size, which seems rather large to me. And I do have a large amount of sites saved, so...
Any ideas/help?

I once had a phone call in the middle of a trip. I was listening to my music and phone rang. It was work calling. I answered the phone and the music continued to play. I had to tell the person to hold, then i had to use multitask to find the app and manually turn it off. Once that was done, i retrurned to the phone call to find out that when i receive an email it too plays through the speaker while i am on the phone. Why wouldn't it mute these things while i am making a phone call? Is there a setting for this? It seems to me that this only happened since IOS 5, but i can't be 100%. What i am 100% on is the fact that it happened on my Iphone 4 and is now happening on my Iphone 4s.
The music continued to play with the iPod?
If so, when a call is received while listening to music with the iPod, when the call is answered the music should be paused. When ending the call, the music starts playing again from where is was paused.
There is no automatic mute with notifications for received email or messages while on a call and there is no setting for this. -
hi im having huge problems trying to install flash for my mac 10.5 imac, iv gone through the internet and tried all of the solutions, everytime i try to install flash it says cant read the download file, or it just wont install, anybody plz help!

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

New ipad 2 is making clicking sounds through the speaker
Just received my new ipad 2 in the mail. I set up the ipad yesterday, no external noises whatsoever. Went to use it for the first time today, and as soon as I picked it up, and before I could even open the cover, it began to make clicking noises through the speaker .It does this with the cover closed, and when I am not even touching it! ( The cover is the correct cover for the ipad2 w/3G)
It sounds like rapid camera clicks, but I have yet to use the camera. I checked to make sure it was not taking pictures on its own, and it wasnt. I even covered the outside camera lens just in case someone had hijacked the camera remotely from somewhere out in cyberspace!

PS It was purchased thorugh the online apple store as a refurb.NEVER MIND! In the Sounds Settings, I just turned the Lock Sounds switch to off and that solved the problem!
