Imac sounds are "messy" and "fuzzy"

Sp I,m not happy with the sounds on my IMac (21.5",late 2010,3.06mhz I3)...I tried ( just to test) Boom and Bongiovi DPS audio devices and then the sound started to get fuzzy...I have removed them now both, but the sounds aren't good...I have Creative Gigaworks t20-speakers (through headphones connection).I may have messed up the audio- & midi settings so what are the Original settings for my Imac ? Could the audio devices (boosters) have damaged the speakers ? This sound problem is especially with Itunes,I know prefre to play my music through DJAY 'cause it sounds better.Sorry,I don't know quite how to explain this, but this bothers me...Any help and tips wellcome,THANK YOU !

Still no solution...Is there anything to do in Audio-midi settings ? Is it normal that it shows "Aggregate-audio-device" in the listing ? There shouldn't be any extra devices anymore....What are the default settings ? Getting desperade...

when I get a message my iphone 4s only vibrates even though all sounds are on and when someone calls the sound works perfectly normal.

Try a reset. To reset the iPhone, press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the slide to power off prompt). If that doesn't work, perform a Restore via iTunes (from backup).

  • IMac sound just up and quit

So here I was, just minding my own business, listening to music or something and all of a sudden BLAM my speakers just stopped working.  I try to adjust the volume but I get the Ghostbusters-style circle with a cross through it when I do (indicating that volume control is no longer an option).  I brought up output sound options in my system preferences and it simply states "The selected device has no output controls".
I've been searching all over the internetand have seen people asking for help and getting solutions with pretty much the exact same problem.  Only thing is everyone I've seen with this problem is a Macbook user and not an iMac user.  I assume that's why none of of the things that helped them are helping me.  I did the PRAM reset which did nothing.  I gently poked my headphone jack with a toothpick which did nothing.  I went into my Audio Midi Setup and verified that my in and out formats are set to 44100.0 Hz.  Don't know what else to do.  Someone.  Anyone.  Please.  Help!!  Thank you.

  • How can I get the sounds , like clicking, etc to work on iPad 2 with IOS 5. In the settings all sounds are on and the volume is high but I don't get a sound.

After downloading IOS 5, I no longer get the sounds on my IPAD 2 to work. They are on in settings and the volume is at maximum, but the sounds such as keyboard click, email sent etc, donor work.
    Any suggestions.
    Regards

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Awful sound, super quiet and fuzzy from S750

I have a new S750 system that I just received today. I plugged it in and while all the speakers worked, it turned my CD audio into something that sounded like an 32k mp3 - in other words, absolutely terrible.
The sound card is not the problem, it was plugged into a 5.1 gigaworks system right before I switched and it sounded fine. Also, using the headphone port on the S750 I can hear the audio just fine.
So unless I'm missing something... it seems like an internal problem in the sub? I'm gonna call Creative support later but wanted to get some feedback first, to see if this is a common problem or not.

After you have recorded your narration, open Window>Audio Mixer, and then play the Timeline. Watch the Levels Meter for that Track. What Levels are you hitting? I work more often in Audio, using my ears, rather than my eyes with Levels, but to start troubleshooting, we probably should establish that your Levels are good to start, and also that they do not go into the red, and thus Clip.
Also with Audio, there are several places to make settings, and those will depend on your system:
As Steve has pointed you, the Sounds settings in Control Panel, are the first place to start.
The sound card probably has a console too, and might be accessible from the Taskbar, from Programs>Realtek, or Programs>Creative.
Finding ALL locations for input and output Audio settings can be a slightly daunting task, as they are scattered about, and though settings can be perfect in one place, they can be far off in another.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - one other thought - as some users have had issues with the Narration Track, just drag your Audio Clip from that Fixed Track to any empty Audio Track, say Audio 2. Test. Did that improve things?

  • X-fi Xtreme Music - upgraded to Vista, now sounds are "tinny" and exaggerat

    Hi, friends.
So last night I upgraded to the Vista Home Premium OS. Besides all of the other little issues that are involved with that, one of my bigger problems is the sound. Mainly while playing games.
I'll use Counter-Strike:Source as an example, since the game is commonly known and it's one I played a lot on XP. So I have a good sense on how it "should" sound. While playing the game, sounds tend to be a little "tinny", and almost distorted. Kind of like it's playing on some cheap $2 headphones or something. The other problem is that the positioning is extremely exaggerated. So sounds that come from my right side (in-game) only play in my right ear, with little to no presence in the left ear. It sounds quite awkward.
Within the Creative control panel I've disabled all CSMM, EAX and Crystalizer effects, but these issues still remain.
I'm using the latest 5.0002 drivers and Bose Triport headphones.
Has anyone else noticed these problems? Is this a driver problem, or do I need to configure something in Vista?
    Thanks for any input.

Hard to say honestly but think your safe. Personally it seems a large pecentage of ppl with the SCP issues posted here also have Pci-e systems and or Raid controllers. I have an "old" system with AGP and not had a prob with the issue myself. Best bet if possible is to buy it local, that way if doesnt work right you can take it back immediatly.

  • SO patches are messy and bloated

In short, SO installs patches like a pig that craves magnetic bits. I've installed every patch since 8 came out and the last was patch 8. I decided to check the HD after it was done and it was consuming 1GB of HD space. This was ridiculous so I decided to poke my nose around to see what was going on and I found the following,
    1) SO keeps old versions of files around. This is just as bad as MS keeping patches around.
    2) Even though the initial install specified that I wanted the EN-US language installed, every patch installed after the initial install continues to install every single language.
    Cleaning results...
    Before - 1GB
    After - 330MB
    I recommend the following,
    1) have the install script remove files that have been renamed - no point in keeping them around.
    2) have the install script figure out which language is installed and ONLY install the language that the user has installed.
This should be cake to implement and not doing so is a huge mistake, IMHO.

Still no solution...Is there anything to do in Audio-midi settings ? Is it normal that it shows "Aggregate-audio-device" in the listing ? There shouldn't be any extra devices anymore....What are the default settings ? Getting desperade...

  • PSA: in iOS 7.1.1, alert sounds are tied to your media/game volume and not to your ringer volume

I was befuddled by this for a long time.
Alert sounds would just stop making noise.  This includes dings from txt messages and new mail.
If I went to Settings>Sounds>Text Tone and select several options, all I would get were vibrations.
I rebooted the phone and toggled the silence switch on and off.
I finally figured out that if I started a game and turned the volume up, the noises would come back.
I think it is reasonable for a user to wish to play a game on mute but still hear alert messages.
I think if we can only have two separate systems for audio control, the alert sounds should be tied to the ringer, not to the media/game sounds.
When I spoke to an apple support person over online chat, they seemed to agree that this sounds like a bug.
I have seen many confused posts in these forums regarding alert sounds suddenly disappearing.
Below is the text that I submitted at http://www.apple.com/feedback/
If you share this problem, I suggest you do the same.
    My case number is 606343836
    Begin message:
I've had a 5S since a few weeks after launch and this problem has only come about in the last few weeks, so I suspect it has to do with a recent OS patch.
Sometimes my alert messages just stop working.  They seem to work one minute, then they stop.  Alert messages would include email notifications and txt message pings.  When they are not working, I can go into Settings>Sounds>Text Tone, and all of the options will simply result in a vibration and no sound.
Rebooting the phone does not fix the problem.
What I have found to fix the problem is to open a game and raise the volume of the game.  Then when I exit the game, alert messages start again.
This seems reversible, if I go back in and mute a game, my alert messages go away as well.
If this is by design, I do not think it should be, as I think it is reasonable for a user to want to control the "media" part of the volume separately from the "ringer" and "alerts" part of the volume. It makes sense to want play a game or video on mute but still get alert messages. If anything, I think the alerts volume should be tied to the ringer volume, I think that would make sense.

Additional info, which makes me think this is a bug rather than a feature.  If you go into Settings > Sounds and turn off the "Change with Buttons" option, then the ringer should always ring at the volume of the slider on the screen.
The volume buttons now appear to only affect the media/games volume, and it works as expected EXCEPT:
if you are in a game and you mute the volume in the game, then exit the game, all alert sounds are muted and you can't turn them back up by raising the volume with the volume buttons.
If you go back into the game and raise the volume within the game, then exit the game, then alert sounds do turn back on.
I have tested this with two games from two developers.

  • Sounds are disappearing

I have a fifteen minute project with about 45 audio tracks. Most of the space on the tracks is empty though.
When I export a quicktime, even of just a minute or two, some of the sounds, or just portions thereof, are not present in the exported quicktime. A sound might cut in and out. Some sounds are there and some are not. Even if just six of the tracks have audio on them the problem still happens.
I always do a full render before exporting.
    My attempts to fix it:
    - under User Preferences > General, I set "Real-time Audio Mixing" to 1 (it then defaulted to 2) and "Audio Playback Quality" to "High"
    - I deleted the preference files per a pdf on this site, which has helped me in the past, but not this time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this fixed and I'm totally stuck.
    Thank you.

Sequence > Render Only > Mixdown
    This fixes the problem.

Intel OS X 10.7 iMac has white screen and three-alarm sound, won't start up

The 3 beeps during start-up are telling you that the RAM is bad.
If you can access the RAM modules, you may try taking them out and putting them back in, perhaps it's only bad contacts.
If that doesn't help, you'll need new RAM module(s).

  • I took my iMac to be fixed and when i got it back, mail was not set up. I called Apple Support and they helped me set up mail. Then the emails went to trash on the iMac and on the MacBook Pro (same emails). There are no numbers by the 'inbox' to tell how

I took my iMac to be fixed and when I got it back, mail was not set, so I called Apple and they helped me set up mail. Now the new mail goes to trash and there is no number by the 'inbox' to tell me how many new messages I have. I cannot save a draft to 'drafts.' There is a large number by 'trash' (I think all mail went to trash - including drafts). When I send myself an emai, it goes to trash also. This is on both my iMac (the one taken in) and my MacBook Pro (same emails) which was not taken in.
I went to 'rules' but have no idea what to do there. There are no rules in the rule box. When I click 'add rule' it puts 'rule 1' in the rule box, but since that was not there when I took it in, I delete it to have an empty rule box.
Can someone pleasehelp me. I am completely stupid with all this. Do not under stand what is suppose to be set up in 'rules.'
    Thank you so much,
    Arudi

Now new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
I also can save drafts now on both computers.
Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.
Two emails > AT&T email and gmail.
Apple's Mail program for email - yes, and gmail.
    IMAP for both accounts.
Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.
Thank you. I relized I had done the labeling wrong when so much of my question appeared twice and no one else's did. I know how to do it now.
    Thank you so much,
    Arudi
