IMac Yosemite and Envy 4507
I have just set this printer up fine it works fine printing from mobile device but when I try to print a photo to 4x6 paper from the imac it prints only quater of the picture. It looks like it is printing A4 onto 4x6 but there is no options within the imac preview app to change the paper size etc. Has anyone else experienced this king of problem?

Please try adding an HP driver rather the default AirPrint option, then check for any difference:
From System Preferences click on Printers & Scanners.
Click the plus sign and select the listed HP Envy printer.
Within the Use drop down ment, change the preselected AirPrint option into the printer model option and add the printer.
Now try printing using the newly created print queue and check for any difference.

My screen sharing functionality did not show up in the dock with an updated icon. Upgraded to Yosemite and can no longer remote into my work iMac through screen sharing- it is turned on in settings?
I believe the location of the "Screen Sharing" app has changed, which explains why if you had it in the dock it has been replaced by a ?
Don't forget you can launch screen sharing (once your VPN connection is up) by typing in the Safari destination slot vnc://remotemachinename:portnumber (omit the :port number if you are using the default VNC port, 5900). This should launch Screen Sharing and put its icon in the dock. You can drag the Screen Sharing icon to the left of your dock and it will hopefully remain there after you exit Screen Sharing, or you can right-click on the icon when it's running and select Options->Show in Finder to find out its new location and drag its icon to the permanent entries in your dock.

I upgraded to Yosemite and computer running very slow. It is an older iMac 2009. if I cant get it running faster I will have to downgrade os or upgrade ram. Is there something else I can try? Here is scan of computer:

iMac at work, iMac at home. (Latest Yosemite and Apple Remote Desktop updates installed) Need to work from home at night. I don't know how to set my permissions so that I can just control my iMac at work.
If they have set up port forwarding for you already then that is different. In that case, then you could be experiencing the bug with the most recent release of ARD (3.7.2) and in particular ARD 3.7.2 and Yosemite ARD version 3.8 clients. It has been reported numerous times in the forums and to Apple that since 3.7.2, clients are frequently unavailable to connect to despite there being no network issue between the remote computer and client computer. I have not seen anyone report it who was working from outside the LAN to inside the LAN, but I have the same issue with a number of my own computers that are simply on a different subnet, so it stands rot reason that it would happen from a port forwarding location.
I am sometimes able to resolve the issue locally by SSH connecting into the client computer using Terminal on my admin machine and restarting or relaunching the ARD agent on the remote device, then trying to connect to it again after about 30 seconds.
The Terminal commands for this procedure are as follows, though you might need to include a port number from outside the LAN:
First:
ssh ipaddress -l adminusername
(example: ssh 192.168.1.1 -l macadmin)
Second:
sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -restart -agent
After that, waiting about 30 seconds and trying to observe or control usually works, though the computer may still fail to show an online or lit-up status indicator. -
Hello I formatted my iMac today and wanted to download iphoto again but after i press the button to install it in the app store nothing happens! same with the yosemite upgrade.. In the iPhoto ratings there are alot of other people facing this problem I hope somebody can help me. thank you in advance
If you have OS X 10.6.8 as you state you can not get iphoto form the App store - you must have Yosemite OS X 10.10. installed to download iphoto 9.6 from the App store
If Nothing happens then you need to contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

I have a new IMAC 5k running Yosemite and when I log in I am asked a whole series of questions as to what keychain can access. How can I authorise all of these to be available upon login? Items concerned are such as "Talagent", "Messages agent" etc
Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ First Aid
There are four checkboxes in the window that opens. Check all of them. if they're not already checked. Close the window.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.
If you use iCloud Keychain, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device. -

Thanks, I was thinking so. I installed my CS4 from a CD in 2008, and it looks like Adobe has taken another approach to selling their products. I'll be downloading CC Photoshop a little later today.

Just updated my iMac to OS X Yosemite and my Photoshop will no longer open. Pop up message informing, Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application. I have the pay monthly package and don't know where to start.
Do as it says: Reinstall the program. Run the cleaner tool and let CC app do the magic.

27" iMac Yosemite update hangs.
The original upgrade to Yosemite (10.10) took almost a full day! The computer hung during one of the reboots and just showed a blank grey screen, no apple logo, no progress bar, nothing. I left it like that for about an hour thinking it might be working in the dark... Eventually I had to power cycle. Disconnected power at the wall outlet for about 5 minutes, then reconnected and tried to start. After about 20 minutes, got to the same point, grey screen:no action, again waited at least an hour.
Then I did a safe boot. System came up OK in safe mode to the log in screen. As soon as I logged in, it proceeded with the interrupted update, which ran to completion. Yay!
Now, every update to Yosemite that arrives gives men the same grief!
To add some more, the "Pro Video Formats 2.0.1" update has installed about 4 times, and is asking to be installed again? There's no indication that it fails the update so whats going on?I saw the set hibernet mode to 0 trick and it failed. Guess I can try 3 because reinstalling OS X did nothing but cost me another few hours and a little faith in Apple. Getting annoyed as I see how many people complain of the identical issue and the fixes are variable and random. Suggests to me that it is a major design flaw in the hardware and Apple got too cute with the just works idea and didn't put a damned power button on the display so there is no manual way to do it and no 'insert a pin here' type trick to reset the thing.
Asking for a refund tomorrow. Past the 14 days so maybe they'll say no but if so then every time this happens I will swap it out. At least then I know it is a three hour fix and as I was working on this for hours today it occurred to me that if the trick is to do 57 different things and maybe one will work then that is not why I made the switch to Apple. I could plug everything in on my PC and it all 'just worked'.
Really poor customer service - the support folks are very nice and I am sure they know that this is a systemic issue but aren't allowed to say so. Feeling pretty stupid for going on faith right about now. -
I upgraded iMac to Yosemite, and my Adobe CS5 products (Photoshop, dreamweaver, etc) would not open. A message popped up saying I needed to load Java SE 6. The Apple Tech support person had me select all the Java folders and files in my library and delete the. I then downloaded Java 7. However, nothing happens when I click on the program icon. I went to reinstall the products, but the activation code was not valid (even though I got it off the Adobe site for my products with Adobe). I tried to install just one product (Illustrator) in the trial mode, but still nothing happens. How can I get my Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and other programs to work?

I upgraded my mid 2007 IMac to Yosemite and it has been running very slowly since then. I have 3GB of ram. Has this been a problem for anyone else?
Your iMac year and model is low on RAM.
3 GBs is really not enough RAM to operate your Mac under OS X Yosemite OR Mavericks smoothly and efficiently.
New Macs now ship with 8 GBs of RAM as minimum, base installed amount of RAM.
Your Mac model can take a maximum amount of 6 GBs of RAM.
I strongly recommend purchasing and installing the necessary RAM amount to meet the 6 GB RAM total.
If you live in the U.S. , Correct, compatible and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
OWC (macsales.com) has the proper RAM module or kit needed to get your Mac to the 6 GB RAM total limit.

Uninstall Trend Micro software. It is not needed and could prevent your computer from operating properly. If there is no uninstaller for the software, then see the following:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

Is Yosemite install different for iMac, MBP and MBA?
I recently downloaded Yosemite using my iMac. I then copied the "Instal OS X Yosemite" app from the applications folder to an 8Gb USB stick. I then upgraded another iMac successfully. I then tried to upgrade my MBA but the instal failed with '7 minutes remaining'. I left this for 36 hours - nothing! Having contacted Apple support I finally had to resort to an OS reinstall. (Good to have backup files in the cloud).
I was told that the install app was machine specific insomuch as the iMac, MBA and MBP sport different hardware. (Bit slack of the developers, I should have thought)
Having at least one of each, seems I now have to d/l around 16Gb to satisfy upgrade across the board. Good for my ISP but takes a lot of time with my bandwidth.
Is there a better way to achieve multi-machine/type upgrades given they are all part of the same family?Apple Support are mistaken because there is only a single version of the OS X Yosemite installer.
I've seen many threads in this forum concerning the installation process stalling, but I'm afraid that I don't know what causes this problem or how to resolve it.
