Image to mpeg / create mpeg

Hello.  Recently I wrote a small vi to take a 3d array of binary images and convert it to avi format.  I have been asked to research and find out if it is possible to convert an array of images to mpeg as well.  I am aware of freeware that is available to convert avi to mpeg and
vice-versa, but I was told to make the conversion directly from the
binary arrays to mpeg.
Has anybody out there ever had a need to convert an array of images to mpeg format instead of avi??
all thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Mike,
It's relatively late and many of my braincells are asleep...  However, the above statement caught my attention....
Do you mean that a video compression file (let's say MPEG-2 for instance) could be renamed to ".avi" and be read by Labview?  --- I must have missed something somewhere... --- ?? ??

  • Trying to create MPEG-2 with .mpg extension

    A client requires an MPEG-2 file with .mpg extension, less than 10 Mbps bit rate, twin channel mono audio.
    Can I create this in compressor from a .mov?
    If I choose multiplexed audio and then manually change the extension from m2t to mpg will this work? (the client will playback in a solid state mpeg player)
    Also - I am working in PAL and they require a 1024x576 pixel file: when I select 16x9, will this give the correct setting (assuming my source material is anamorphic)?

    Since the client asks for MPEG-2 with .mpg extension, I guess they really mean .mpeg as gogiangigo mentions. In other words, they want an MPEG-2 Program Stream.

    About Elementary, Transport, and Program Streams
    There are three common MPEG-2 stream types that are used to deliver MPEG-2 encoded video:
    • Elementary streams: These streams contain only one MPEG-2 content channel and no audio. Elementary streams are required if you intend to use your MPEG-2 encoded video as a DVD Studio Pro asset.
    • Transport streams: These streams can contain several MPEG-2 content channels and associated audio. All the channels are multiplexed together, allowing the receiver to choose which to play back. Compressor supports creating single-channel transport streams that can optionally include associated audio. Transport streams can also recover from interruptions during playback, making them ideally suited for broadcast and streaming applications where noise or network congestion can lead to interruptions.
    • Program streams: These streams contain only one MPEG-2 content channel and its associated audio. Program streams require an error-free delivery method and are primarily used for storage or processing within a computer. By default, the Compressor MPEG-2 encoder creates elementary MPEG-2 steams. You can configure the MPEG-2 encoder to create transport or program streams and choose whether they should include audio in the Extras tab. See “Extras Tab” on page 197 for more information.
    Note: All the Stream Usage settings except Generic output elementary streams. If you select any of the other Stream Usage settings and then configure the output to be either a transport or program stream, the Stream Usage changes to Generic. See “Stream Usage” on page 185 for more information.

  • Can't create MPEG 2 with audio

    I have a 2 minute HD 720p sequence created in FCP. I'm supposed to convert it into an MPEG 2 File with audio, NTSC 4:3 Letterboxed and no bigger than 45MB.
    Every time I try, I get an unrecognizeable file with an extesion .mts instead of .m2v.
    I'm using compressor 2. So far I...
    1) Selected DVD Fastest Encode 90 min/ 4:3
    2) Selected MPEG 2 6.2 mbp 1 pass 4:3
    3) In inspector, kept default except : Average Bit Rate 2.4; Field Dominance - Automatic; Multiplexed MPEG -1/Layer Audio.
    It's on this 3rd step that I notice the file name gets changed. I'm also not sure how to do the letterboxing. Any help appreciated - this is due ASAP!

    What are you going to use your MPEG-2 file for?
    If you want an MPEG-2 .mpeg file with both video and audio, you need to make an MPEG-2 Program Stream. Exactly what did you do earlier when making m2v with audio earlier? Maybe you included the an audio preset too, from the DVD presets folder? That is the way you do it if you want to author your DVD using DVD Studio Pro. Then you want a separate video and audio file, to bring into DVD Studio Pro.
    Transport Streams have the .mts extension (wrapper), while Program Streams have the .mpeg extension (wrapper).

  • How to convert vob to mpeg with mpeg to vob converter for mac

    MPEG has standardized the following compression formats and ancillary standards: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, and MPEG-4. MPG is one of a number of file extensions for MPEG-1 computer files.
    VOB is based on MPEG-2 program stream format.MPEG to VOB Converter for Mac can both convert MPEG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, MPEG-4) to VOB for Mac and convert VOB to MPEG on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard included). Moreover, it could convert HD MPG (MPEG-2 HD) to VOB and VOB to HD MPG (MPEG-2 VIDEO) on Mac OS X.
    Free download mac vob to mpeg converter.
    Step 1, Import or drag and drop VOB or MPEG file to this Mac VOB to MPEG (MPG) Converter.
    Step 2, Choose output format as VOB or MPEG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, and MPEG-4). You are allowed to trim, crop video, and set video biterate, resolution, and screen size before conversion.
    Step 3, Click “Convert” to start VOB to MPEG or MPEG to VOB conversion. This powerful software support ripping DVD and converting VOB and MPEG in batch.
    Note: If you are not satisfied with the original video effect, you can trim, crop, add watermark and set brightness with this applicaton, learn how to edit vob on mac snow leopard
    Tips: A good, open source tool for playback VOB is MPlayer OSX and VLC Media Player, and Apple DVD player. If you wish to burn the VOB files to a standard DVDR disc, you need to have all the other standard DVD files as well, including IFO and BUP files. If you have all of the required files, you can get solutions with freewares like handbrake.

  • MPEG and MPEG-1 the same?

    Are MPEG and MPEG-1 files the same thing? If so, MPEG-1 is listed as an import file format under "Tech Specs" on the QT Pro site. How come I get an error when I try to open my MPEG files? Is it the wrong fuel, Kirk? When it says QT Pro can import MPEG-1, what does that mean exactly? When I open a file, am I "importing" it?

    You need to examine the file "contents" and not the file "extension" when trying to view .mpg files with QT Pro.
    In the old days we would distinguish the two "flavors" of MPEG files by using .mpg for MPEG-1 formats and .mpeg for MPEG-2 formats.
    It doesn't work that way any longer and many other file extensions can use MPEG-1 formats inside another "wrapper" (.mov or .avi).
    If you get the error message (-2048) when you attempt to open a .mpg file it is safe to assume that the file is actually MPEG-2 format. These files require the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 more, from Apple).
    If you get no error message (but the player window opens and doesn't show any content) use the Movie Info window to determine the codecs and formats used in the file.
    History:
    MPEG-1 is like VHS and not much software creates it any longer. Normal size is 352X240. It brought us the .mp3 audio file. Let's just let it die and go away.
    MPEG-2 is the current format of most DVD's. Normal display size (in QT Pro) is 640X480. Looks and sounds great but needs improvement.
    MPEG-4 is the new kid on the block. Up to High Definition display resolution and numerous audio formats that allow up to 24 channels of audio.
    The file extensions used to be: .mpg, .mpeg and .mp4.
    No more. Now you can have MPEG-1 formats inside .mov or .avi containers. You can also have .mp4 files inside .mov containers. .avi files don't seem to play by any "rules" any longer. They are a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.
    Hopes this helps, or at least makes you hungry.

  • How do I use copyprofile, image manager and create a wim file to Sysprep a reference Windows 8 computer.

    Im trying to deploy a reference machine (configured) to other machines (exact or close image) with different hardware.
    I have successfully used sysprep in out of the box, generalise, shutdown mode although i havent tried to deploy this to another device.  Unfortunately it doesnt copy the profile to default.
    I understand that I have to create an answer file using image manager based on that image, save it to a usb drive and attach this in the sysprep command line when sysprepping it.
    My problem is I dont know how to easily capture an image of windows 8 into a wim file so that i can add this into image manager to create a answer file.  Im also not sure what I have to do in image manager, is it a simple matter of creating and saving
    the answer file or do i have to configure it to copy the profile specifically (theres only one account anyhow).
    I also want to know if i have to attach the drivers or are all the standard drivers put into the sysprep image as standard.  I would like the machine to be an exactly replica, same as doing a clone (but with the drivers for the new machine installed
    so it will boot) same as doing a clone and then repair? If thats possible.
    Any specific instructions on this would be helpful.  I have read the microsft links but they are somewhat confusing.

    I know this is a very late response but I thought I'd post for others who search.
    The easiest way to create the .wim file is via WinPE, this guy's two YouTube videos explain the entire process in detail -
    Windows 8 ADK Part 1: Capture an OS image - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ8zKX_8E9w
    Windows 8 ADK Part 2: Windows Image Deployment - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHIvoqSw_FI
    Here's a quick rundown from my notes:
    WINPE
    Create WinPE via imaging tools command prompt
    copype amd64 c:\winpe
    makewinpemedia /iso "c:\winpe" "c:\winpe\winpe64.iso"
    UNATTEND
    Open Windows System Image Manager
    Configure unattend.xml
    Save unattend.xml to sysprep folder
    Create script and save it to sysprep folder to launch sysprep with unattend
    @echo off
    cd C:\Windows\System32\sysprep
    Sysprep /oob /generalize /unattend:C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\unattend.xml
    SYSPREP
    C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep
    Run as administrator
    OOBE/Generalize
    Shutdown
    CONFIGURATION of WINPE

  • How do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3?  i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow.  i see how you do it when you just play a slideshow.

    how do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3?  i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow.  i see how you do it with presets when you just play a slideshow, but i don't see an option to randomly shuffle the slide order when you create a new slideshow.  i know you can sort it by different fields, but i want it to be random.  thanks.

    If you want to rearrange images in random order you can try an AppleScript:
    retrieve a list of selected images from Aperture
    shuffe the list properly
    create an album in Aperture and add the images from the list to the album (make sure that the album set to be orederd manually)
    Here  is a sample script that shuffles the selected images and displays them in random order in Full Screen Mode:
    on removeItem(ims, i)
      -- remove the item at position "i" from a list ims
              if ims is {} then return {}
              if (length of ims is 1) then return {}
              if i < 2 then return rest of ims
              if (i = length of ims) then return (items 1 thru (i - 1) of ims)
              if i > (length of ims) then return ims -- should be error?
              return (items 1 thru (i - 1) of ims) & (items (i + 1) thru (length of ims) of ims)
    end removeItem
    on shuffle_items(ims)
      -- shuffle the items of the list "ims" randomly
              local numitems, ims_shuffled, nextrest, nextpick, i
              set numitems to length of ims
              if length of ims < 2 then return ims
              set ims_shuffled to {}
              set nextrest to ims
              repeat until nextrest is {}
                        set i to (random number (numitems - 1)) + 1
                        set nextpick to item i of nextrest
                        set beginning of ims_shuffled to nextpick
                        set numitems to numitems - 1
                        set nextrest to removeItem(nextrest, i)
              end repeat
              return ims_shuffled
    end shuffle_items
    on shuffleIms()
      -- retrieve the selected images from Aperture
      -- and display them in random order in full screen mode
              local imageSel, shuffled, i
              tell application "Aperture"
      activate
                        set imageSel to (get selection)
                        set shuffled to my shuffle_items(imageSel)
                        set fullscreen to true
                        if imageSel is {} then error "Please select some images."
                        repeat with i from 1 to count of shuffled
                                  reveal {item i of shuffled}
      delay 3 -- chnage that to the time you want
                        end repeat
                        set fullscreen to false
                        return shuffled
              end tell
    end shuffleIms
    shuffleIms()
    Some more code snippets to go from here:
    To create an album:
                        tell library 1
                                  if not (exists album "shuffledAlbum") then
      make new album with properties {name:"shuffledAlbum", image version:shuffled}
                                  end if
                        end tell
    And to add the images from the shuffled list to the album:
                        repeat with i from 1 to count of shuffled
                                  duplicate item i of shuffled to album "shuffledAlbum"
                        end repeat
    Regards
    Léonie

    Your image history (if I understand you properly) is stored in your catalog file, and nowhere else, and so it is only on a single drive.
    Do you mean you have edited photos on multiple drives? This isn't a problem for Lightroom at all, the software doesn't care, and you can leave things just the way they are. But if it bothers you for some reason, you can move the photos to a single drive if you want. In Lightroom select the desired photos or folders (it's easier to do this using Folders) and drag them to the desired drive.
    Alternative if you will be moving lots of folders: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

    How can I save an image I have created in Pages as a jpeg? The image has both a photo and various text boxes. I would like to use it in one of the Photocard websites but they only accept jpeg. Any easy solutions please.

    Hold command shift 4 and draw a box around what you want and then click again, on your desktop a .png file will appear.
    To convert it to jpeg, open it in Preview and Save as.
    if you want all your screenshots to be jpg, download the free Tinkertool and make the change.

    Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
    Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
    Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
    Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
    What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
    Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
    Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.

  • How do I import MPEG or MPEG-2 videos in iTunes?

    We have lots of family movies, may work well in iTunes, but most of them are MPEG or MPEG-2. iTunes doesn't seem to want to work with these. Is there a plug in that will let me get them in my iTunes library?

    purchasing _*QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component for Mac OS X*_ may let you play the movies in QT, if that's sufficient.
    otherwise you will have to convert the files into an iTunes friendly format. you can use _*MPEG Streamclip*_ or HandBrake (both free).
    it may be necessary to install Perian on your machine.

    We have issues to restore old images that were created with ZDM 7 on NetWare. PXE booting works, everything looks okay, but when we should see the progress bar of the imaging process, we just stuck.
    Creating a new image works fine. Restoring the newly created images also works fine. It is only restoring the old images that were creted with NetWare ZDM.
    Should this cross platform imaging work at all? Assuming that we are on the same ZDM version level on both environments?

  • Mutiplexing fails when trying to create mpeg!

    Gretings guys! Well here's one for ya', Attempting what is typcally an issue free task; when tryin to export a project to adobe media encoder to create an mpeg 2 file, after it spends hours processing the file I'm getting the message" Multiplexing has failed, please check the settings and try again". What causes this problem? I'm using CS3!

    There are two places, that you need to check on, in AME. This shows both tabs in the MPEG dialog screen. Obviously, you will only have one open at a time.
    Hope that this helps and good luck,
    Hunt
    PS - the screen-cap is from PrPro 2.0, but should be very similar in CS3.
