Images from internet & transparency

Hi all...
If I have a public domain graphic that I want to include on my iWeb page, how can I do this? Is using an html snippet the only way?
I can't find any way to include it. If I drag & drop it (from firefox to iWeb), it actually copies the image and puts the copy into the site-- as a jpeg rather than the original GIF, losing the transparency information.
Is there a way to just link to the original file via a url, in an img src= kind of way?
Thanks,
-jamie

Copy this code in the HTML snippet:
<img src="http://discussions.apple.com/images/rss-27x15.gif" width=30 height="20">
Apply your own source, width and height.
Transparent PNG are copied without change. Don't know about Gif, because I do not use them.

  • How to copy and paste images from Internet to keynote on iPad?

    I want to make presentations on the go using Internet images and keynote. How can I get images from websites copied into my photo album, as that seems to be the only way you can add a image in keynote. Is there legal problems involved in it? Because I can do it no problem using my desktop etc.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Click and drag is your friend!
    This thread probably belongs in the safari area, but anyway:
    If you click and hold, there should be a cursor that appears with a file. Then, simply drag it to your desktop where the file will appear.
    Or:
    Right-click (control-click) the picture and there should be a 'save image' or 'save image as' option. Select that, then save it!
    Afterwards, simply find the file in your screen saver options in system preferences, and then select it.
    Good Luck!

  • Extracting Image from Internet

    Hi,
    Am trying to extract an image from a URL as follows:
    try
    BufferedImage input = ImageIO.read(new URL("http://www.google.co.in/images/close_sm.gif"));
    File outputFile = new File("image.png");
    ImageIO.write(input, "PNG", outputFile);
    catch(Exception e)
    System.out.println(e);
    }The URL is a valid one. But still I get the following error :
    javax.imageio.IIOException: Can't get input stream from URL!Any idea where I am going wrong ?
    Thanks for any help ..

    Hi ashokkumar!
    Doc says there isn't an registered ImageReader!?!?
    Circumvent the problem obtaining an input stream from a HttpURLConnection via method getInputStream:
    HttpURLConnection conn = new HttpURLConnection(
    new URL("http://www.google.co.in/images/close_sm.gif"));
    conn.setRequestMethod("GET");
    conn.connect();
    BufferedImage input = ImageIO.read( conn.getInputStream() );
    conn.disconnect();
    If still find exceptions, check the connection response code
    code = conn.getResponseCode();
    and try to "negotiate" with server via HttpURLConnection methods like:
    conn.setRequestProperty("User-Agent", yourUserAgent);
    This (sometimes) helps to avoid "deny of service" on HTTPD server against some kind of requests.

  • I can't drag and drop images from Internet Explorer anymore?

    Whenever I would add album art, I'd find it on a website and drag the image directly from the website into the CD album art (from Get Info) and it would work. Now, I cannot do this in the new iTunes 8 version. I don't even know why I upgrade anymore because all Apple does is remove simple functionality that should work in every version.

    I haven't tried any manual album artwork since updating to iTunes 8. I do remember in the past that there were some websites that I seemed to not be able to drag images from. I usually rely on Amazon.com for my album artwork that is not in iTunes.
    Where are you dragging the files to in iTunes? In the Get Info pane, or in the lower left-hand corner of iTunes? You might want to try the one you're not using, just to see if there's a difference.

  • Photoshop auto saving images from internet?

    I've just received an image through an email which when I opened it automatically opened in my Photoshop album (only starter edition 3.0), however when I clicked to view the next image I saw an image I had randomly viewed on the bbc site half an hour earlier. The further on I clicked, the more images came up from working on the internet today. Can Adobe automatically save images you view but have not copied to any files? It seems quite strange and surely it will take me ages to find my actual photos in the future. Does anyone know what this is and how to turn it off?! Many thanks

    Sounds like you have Watched folders switched on [Edit/Prefs] and it is pointing to the folder structure that includes IE's cache folder.

  • Permanently removing part of an image from a transparent background png file

    Hello, I think I know the answer to this question, but I wanted to double check.  I am new to Photoshop and do not know all the functions.  I have a png transparent background file of a tree with a lot of branches.  I want to erase some of the branches so they are just permanently gone.  I would like to use this image on different backgrounds so I am looking to just erase the branches all together.  Is this possible?  If not in Photoshop, perhaps another adobe program?  Thank you!

    If you want to permanently delete the branches then you can just erase them using the eraser tool. I would always suggest keeping the original file just in case something goes wrong and you want to start again. So just open the .png, save a new version and start erasing the branches you want.

  • Saving Images from Internet to iPhoto

    New issue with Mountain Lion upgrade. When I "right-click" on an image on the internet, FaceBook, web site, etc. and select the "import into iPhoto library" option I receive an error that says "safari can't communicate with iPhoto" and I can't save the photo. It used to work just fine before the upgrade. Any ideas?

    Tried it here and got the same error as you did. Tried turning off Safari extensions and it worked. Turned extensions back on to see if there was one that was causing the problem and it still worked!
    Try turning off extensions on your Safari and see if you get the same behavior.

  • Can I get getting the input image from internet?

    Hi I  know the input could be a file using different formats, but can I use Premiere PRO
    to capture the image and edit it to add some text.
    ( i.e ). we have a potential customer, who could give us the opportunity to cover some
    events, for that we were thinking to use this device :
    http://www.mushroomnetworks.com/product/streamer-pro
    As you can see at that url , they can give us the  reassembly  service for bonding uplink for the unit to the CDN.
    ( Content Delivery Network ),  The question is :
    Can I use Premiere PRO to get that image ?  edit it and add a Score box ( if that event is a football game ), or
    something else, like a title.
    If that is possible what would be the best place to do that ?, Maybe between the two clouds ?, of there is a url
    address for each one of them.
    Thanks.

    You need to first do the set-up in iPhoto prefs and navigate all the way to the Support Files folder.
    - Open iPhoto and choose iPhoto >> Preferences.
    - Select the General tab.
    - Click the Edit Photo menu and select In Application.
    Then navigate to:
    Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 13/Support Files/Photoshop Elements 13 Editor
    Highlight the editor application (Photoshop Elements 13 Editor not Adobe Photoshop Elements 13) and click Open
    Then close iPhoto Prefs.
    You should now be able to edit normally from the iPhoto Library e.g.
    Double-click to edit in iPhoto editor.
    Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in elements editor.

  • Images saved from internet websites

    Help. It seems that when we e-mail photo's (even a single photo), the slideshow is capturing images from internet websites we have visited previously. How do configure the settings such that website images are not saved and thus potentially added to photoshop? It tends to confuse folks to whom we send photo's when they start to see images from websites the kiddos visit (Disney, Nickelodian etc.).
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Vibha, thank you very much for taking time to try to help. I think Jim Jutte also suggested what you did, and I have made the adjustments. Because of my concern over this matter however, I stopped using Adobe for my pictures. So I'm not sure if it will work.
    What will let me know is when a friend e-mails me some pictures using Adobe Photohouse, and if it has the 'slideshow' feature with it. I will try it and that will no doubt show me if my adjustment worked. (Actually, I guess I could send myself some pictures to one of my own e-mails, and that would tell the story, huh?)
    Nevertheless, thank you.

  • Problem: importing a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere.

    Dear Adobe community,
    I am trying to import a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere Pro CC. Whatever file format I choose to export from Photoshop, Premiere Pro CC will not import the file correctly. When I import is, two things occur: 1) the image gets imported, but the white background is still there or 2) the image gets an error "The importer reported a generic error".
    Does anyone have an idea how I can get an image with a white background transparent into Premiere Pro CC.
    Specs:
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, eind 2013)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB RAM
    1536MB Intel Iris videocard
    Thanks!

    You need to make sure the image has an alpha channel.
    Images like jpeg dont have an alpha channel.
    Psd or png do and the image has to be RGB.
    Make sure the background in PS is also transparant.

  • Images not loading while accessing portal from internet

    Hi all
      we are trying to publish the portal on internet. We have used  apache as reverse proxy  and it is in dmz .
    When we access the portal from internet we are getting the  login page  but it is with out images (e.g branding imag etc).
    we also could login  in the portal but we only see  the links for  Help  Personalize  Log off  , Histrory Back  and Forward  remaining page is blank.
    Is this reverse proxy configuration issue?
    Can any body help us in resolving this issue.
    Regards
    Rajendra.

    Hi Rajendra/Experts,
    We are currently working on custom webdynpro application which needs to be exposed to Internet using Apache HTTP Server.
    We can able to access URL, but no images are getting displayed and also the application not functioning when we click any button/links.
    Below is HTTPD file configuration
    ProxyPass /esampleApp http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/esampUI/ESamplingApp
    ProxyPassReverse /esampleApp  http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/esampUI/ESamplingApp
    when we look in to images URL which is being called from Apache we  found out "webdynpro" is missing in the URL.
    Actual URL in Portal Server: (working)
    http://portalhostname:port/webdynpro/resources/local/esampUI/Components/esampling.ui.ESamplingComp/logo.gif
    Apache URL:
    http://Apachehostname:port/resources/local/esampUI/Components/esampling.ui.ESamplingComp/logo.gif
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

  • Copy/Paste Image from Clipboard - still no support for transparency?

    I just tried to load an Image from the Clipboard by using DataFlavor.imageFlavor. Everything works well if the clipboard-image doesn´t use any transparency. When loading an image with alpha-channel (png or gif), the transparency occurs as black pixels. Here is the code snippet:
    Clipboard clip = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemClipboard();;
    Transferable t = clip.getContents(null);
    BufferedImage img = (BufferedImage) t.getTransferData(DataFlavor.imageFlavor);img.getType allways returns TYPE_INT_RGB, even if the image contains alpha-data.
    According to this Bug-Report
    [http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4720930]
    this should have bin fixed in 1.4.2, if i´m not wrong?
    Can anyone confirm this problem, and is there any workaround? The one described in the bug-report doesn´t work for me, since clipboard-images in my case don´t match DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor.

    The best is to try it yourself I guess.
    Go to Github and try pasting an image into the compose editor.
    The editor definitely supports image pastings. They work directly in Chrome(ium).
    Thus I am wondering why Firefox does not support direct pasting from clipboard into the editor.
    See the attached screenshot regarding the editor I am talking about.
