Marker offset in Mapviewer

I am trying to define an image marker with an offset in Mapviewer. The image marker is loaded with a 34x36 pixel PNG image and renders properly when requested. The image however is not symmetrical and I would like to redefine its origin so that the marker (in this case the base of a map pin symbol) aligns with the desired location on the map.
The Style definition looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<svg width="1in" height="1in">
  <desc></desc>
  <g class="marker" style="width:40;height:40">
    <image x="0" y="0" width="9999" height="9999" type="gif" href="dummy.gif"/>
  </g>
</svg>My questions are:
1. Are the x=0 y=0 attributes within the <image element designed to redefine the origin of the image?
2. Are these attributes actually implemented in Mapviewer? (I have tried a number of values without success)
3. What coordinate space are these values in? (i.e. original image is 34x36, scaling is 40x40 and the width and height attributes are both 9999)
Any thoughts of references to detailed documentation appreciated.
Ross.

When applying a Marker style to a point location on a map, MapViewer simply coincides the center of the Marker image with the target location. So if you want your particular marker's pin head (or tail) point at the point, you simply need to retouch your original image so that the pin head/tail is at the center. For instance, simply add more blank space to the bottom so that the image becomes symmertric vertically. many graphics editing tools can easily do that.

  • Add Printer Marks Offset

    When using the 'Add Printer Marks' feature under Print Production tools, is there a way to set the offset of the resulting marks from trim? I get files every day that have no marks and the marks that this feature create just don't work. The offset appears to be only about .040". It needs to be 0.125" for most jobs. You can edit object on the marks after creation in Illustrator but that would be way too much work on a multi page file.
    Is there a simple Acrobat plug in that would have this feature other than Pitstop available
    Thanks.

    You cannot adjust the printer marks offset in the 'Set Page Boxes' under
    Print production. I need to know how to change the offset of the 'Default'
    setting in the Add Printer Marks feature. Making the Quark Express marks the
    default would also suffice.
    Thanks.

  • Change crop-mark offset default/settings?

    I would love it if there was an option to make the crop-mark offset equal the bleed. Very often when printing or exporting PDFs, even if using a preset that's defined as including bleed and crop-marks, I still have to check the bleed amount and manual change the offset to match.

    Thanks for the action. I loaded the cs2/cs3 version into the actions panel in CS4 but when I tried it out I can't get it to work. I created a rectangle to use as a bounding box, then ran the action. It first came up with this error:
    "The object "Ungroup" is not currently available." Stop or Continue
    When I press continue, it runs through all the different steps in the action but instead of crop marks all it gives me is a tiny rectangle a fraction the size of the original bounding box rectangle that I originally specified.
    Is this happening because it's not compatible with CS4?

  • Change crop marks offset

    Do someone know how to change crop marks offset into Framemaker 7? I want to extend then to 0.125" (9pt) Thanks!

    These are hardwired and cannot be changed.
    You can always create your own crop marks on Master pages (objects can always be placed outside the defined page boundaries) or change the page sizes to allow you to see what you are adding. At print time, specify the sheet size required. FM always prints the "page" centred on the specified sheet size.

  • Set Trim Marks distance

    Hi all!
    I have a problem. I have to create an add for a magazine.
    In the technical requirements they say that "the size of the ad file equals to the trim size of the magazine plus 15mm from each side (5mm of bleed box plus 10 mm for trim marks, file name, date and time). The trim box is to be centered strictly in the PDF file".
    So I wonder how (and if) it's possible to set the  10mm-size for the trim marks.
    Thanks in advance

    ID will allow you to change the offset of the automatic crop marks when you export a PDF, but the automatic marks are shorter than 10 mm, so my inclination would be to use manually generated marks instead, and this is the workflow I would use:
    Set up the new file with the document size at the trim dimensions. Click the more options button to show the Bleed and Slug field if they are not showing already, and enter 5mm in the bleed size fields (by default these fileds are linked, so you can enter the number in the first field then move on to the Slug and they will all fill) then ente 15 mm in the first Slug box and click the chainlink symbol to fill the other three. Press OK.
    Your document will show boxes for the the page edge (and any margins you set), and outside that a red line indsicating the Bleed, and a cyan line indicating the slug area. Add a text box and type any page info you like into it in the slug area outside the bleed box, or you can use the Page Info automatic marks during export to add the filename, date and time.
    Build your ad, being sure to extend any color that hits the page edge out to the bleed guide.
    When you are finished, add a frame with no fill and no stroke the size of the page (trim) and select it. Open the Scripts panel and under Application find the Sample Scripts folder, then Javascript, and finally CropMarks.jsx. Double click the script. In the dialog, set the length of the marks to 10mm and the offset to 5mm (thpe in the units, ID will convert them to points), and click the "entire selection" radio button, and uncheck the Registration Marks box:
    The script will add a layer with the marks.
    When you export, go to the Marks and Bleeds screen and be sure you check the Include Slug Area box under bleed (the bleed size itself is now irrelevant). Also set the crop mark offset to 5mm and check the box for Page info if you didn't include that manually.

  • Can't print .indd booklet to PDF; opens print utility instead of Acrobat

    Thanks in advance for any help you can lend.
    I have a 16 page .indd document that I'm trying to export via "print booklet", using Adobe PDF 9.0 as my printer. Every time I try to print as a PDF, it goes through the process of compiling the images, loading fonts, etc., but then my printer utility opens (obviously giving an error) instead of Acrobat. When I just choose export as PDF I have no issues whatsoever; Acrobat opens and it saves properly. I need the document, though, in a saddle stitch imposed format for the printer.

    I'm a Windows user, so I may not have this exactly right, but printing to PDF from Print Booklet on Mac is a two-step process -- first you printto Postscript file using the Acrobat 9 ppd, then you distill the file. • I'm using a card template and trying to find what Avery product I should get to print the card on

    I using a Pages greeting card template and trying to find out what Avery product I should buy to print it on. Where is this infromation?

    The Avery web site has the layouts of its products and also ms Word tempaltes that open in Pages.
    If you wish to use the Pages' templates select the overall rectangle of the card:
    Inspector > Metrics
    To find out the size and then look for the matching Avery stock, you will probably have to adjust bot the size and position for a close match.
    However since greeting cards are just rectangles folded in half all you need to do is print them on card stock with some crop marks offset from the corners and cut them out with a sharp knife or a guillotine. Not rocket science.

  • Export PDF Workflow with Applescript and CS3

    Hello,
    I am setting up some PDF workflow with Applescript.
    On a given moment, as my script runs and after getting some user-input answers to questions in some dialogs, my script tells InDesign CS3 to open the Export Adobe PDF window for the current document. I copied and pasted that small part of the script:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"
    tell document 1
    export format PDF type to "Macintosh_HD:Test01.pdf" using "somePreset" with showing options
    end tell
    end tell
    When you run this small part of my Applescript, InDesign opens the Export Adobe PDF window (as expected) waiting for me to click on "Export". That is exactly what I want, since the user is given here a last opportunity to change some values (for example page range, or spreads). When all is set, the user can click on Export to close the dialog and finish the script.
    Problem: I was hoping that the Adobe PDF Preset "somePreset" would be selected in the first pull-down menu of the Export Adobe PDF window when this window is opened by the script. Unfortunately the last used preset is always selected by default. Anyone suggestions or help?
    Kind regards,
    Bertus Bolknak.

    My operators enter the page range and filename into a dialog box. Then I set those in the script. I use the Press Quality preset to start with and then set the changes I want into a export variable. I set things like bleed, marks, page range, etc.
    Here is an example:
    set theProps to properties of PDF export preset "[Press Quality]"
    try
    delete PDF export preset "Schmidt PDF"
    end try
    set theStyle to {name:"Schmidt PDF", acrobat compatibility:acrobat 7, bleed top:"0.125i", bleed bottom:"0.125i", bleed inside:"0.125i", bleed outside:"0.125i", page marks offset:"0.125i", include ICC profiles:Include None, effective PDF destination profile:use no profile, effective PDF X profile:"No Color Conversion"} & theProps
    make PDF export preset with properties theStyle
    set properties of PDF export preferences to theStyle
    set color bitmap sampling of PDF export preferences to none
    set grayscale bitmap sampling of PDF export preferences to none
    set page range of PDF export preferences to (item i of myPageList) as string
    export document 1 format PDF type to (PrinergyFolder & myJobNumFinal & "_" & VerCode & ".pdf") as Unicode text without showing options
    I am also doing this in Quark.

  • Bleed not showing in exported PDF

    I'm submitting a postcard design to hotcards.com and am worried because the bleeds that I have are not showing when I create the PDF.
    I've included the crop marks when exporting (and checked 'bleed marks'.) Don't know if I should submit with the crop marks, and I'm not seeing the bleed. My color (bleeds) just end at the margins.
    Any advice?
    http://cellocelli.com/design/CellocelliPostcardBack.pdf
    http://cellocelli.com/design/CellocelliPoscardFront.pdf

    First of all, you need to include the bleeds in your InDesign document; 1/8" is pretty standard for bleed in the US, but check with your printer to be sure. Start by including a bleed in your page layout: Document Setup > More Options > Bleed and Slug. Type .125" for all 4 bleeds (if you check the little chain icon on the right, you'll only have to type it once). This will add a red outline outside your page area to show where the bleed should be. Then you'll have to stretch your backgrounds to snap to the outer bleed lines.
    When you export the PDF, click "Use Document Bleed Settings" (in the Bleed and Slug section of the dialog box). I also change the marks offset to 1/8" to match, just so they're not too close to the page area. That should give you a good PDF for the printer.

  • How to to print an .indd document with a border around the edge?

    I have an Indesign document that I want to print with a slight border around the edge.
    I print this after exporting it as a PDF.  But when I choose the various combinations of 'print printer's marks' in the export settings, none of them seem to work.
    I want just a simple thin border line around the edge of the document to print.  I don't want the interior body to print (which it sometimes does).
    I know this can be done, because on some of my .indd documents it works... but I can't figure out what I did to get it to print that way.
    HELP!
    and thanks....
    jn

    Thanks... the visible guides setting change took away the purple interior rectangle.
    But it still doesn't print the border outline.
    Here in text form is a summary of the .indd file settings that does print a border correctly, as I like it to.
    The relevant paragraph under Marks and Bleed has crop marks off... and document bleed settings on.
    I wonder what I'm missing?  Sometimes I wished Adobe just used plain english... like 'print border outline of document'!
    Thanks!

  • Setting PDF/X compliancy standard

    Dear group,
    How do I set the document to a PDF/X standard with the PDFExportPreferences?
    I'm trying to allow the input of bleed with a prompt and have marks and offset follow this (eg. Xmm bleed = Xmm mark offset, and no bleed = no marks). I've found that using a joboptions preset file will overule my bleed/marks/offset settings to those defined in the preset so I've been trying to define all the necessary PDFExportPreferences within the script but can't get the PDF/X standard compliancy part right (unfortunately Adobe sample scripts doesn't cover this) - I would like to export with X-1a compliancy, an output condition and and use the destination (from the UI) "Convert to destination (preserve numbers)". Any tips on the syntax?
    Kind regards,
    Rasmus

    Dear all,
    This is what I've learned so far creating a custom PDF/X export setting:
    with (app.colorSettings)
    enableColorManagement = true;
    //This wont work on my Mac workstation. Setting the subsequent
    //CMS parameters will change the InDesign ColorSettings to "Custom".
    //My idea was to create a named preset through the script.
    //cmsSettingsPath = "/some path/";
    //cmsSettings = "some preset";
    rgbPolicy = ColorSettingsPolicy.convertToWorkingSpace;
    cmykPolicy = ColorSettingsPolicy.combinationOfPreserveAndSafeCmyk; // 1129345124: combinationOfPreserveAndSafeCmyk
    workingSpaceRGB = "Adobe RGB (1998)";
    workingSpaceCMYK = "ISOnewspaper26v4";
    engine = "Adobe (ACE)";
    intent = DefaultRenderingIntent.relativeColorimetric; //1380545123: relativeColorimetric
    useBPC = true;
    mismatchAskWhenOpening = false;
    mismatchAskWhenPasting = false;
    mismatchAskWhenOpening = false;
    Embedding and using a CMYK policy on a document level:
    with(app.activeDocument) {
    cmykPolicy = colorSettingsPolicy.combinationOfPreserveAndSafeCmyk; // 1129345124: combinationOfPreserveAndSafeCmyk
    cmykProfile = "ISOnewspaper26v4";
    The custom export setting:
    with(app.pdfExportPreferences) {
    //PDF output options
    standardsCompliance = PDFXStandards.pdfx1a2001Standard; //1396912481: pdfx1a2001Standard; 1396922419: pdfx32002Standard
    pdfColorSpace = PDFColorSpace.cmyk; //1129142603: cmyk
    //outputCondition = "outputCondition"; //this is not working?
    //outputConditionName = "outputConditionName"; //use this instead
    //alert("effectiveOutputCondition: "+effectiveOutputCondition);
    //ocRegistry = "http://somesite";
    //alert("effectiveOCRegistry: "+effectiveOCRegistry);
    pdfDestinationProfile = PDFProfileSelector.working; //1967419235: useDocument; 1466921579: working
    //alert("effectivePDFXProfile: "+effectivePDFXProfile);
    Be aware that InDesign apparently cache some of these settings even when quitting the app? A forced reset (trashing the prefs files or hitting the key-combo when starting) will solve this temporarily.

  • Can't import MapInfo TrueType fonts into MapBuilder

    Hi forum
    I am trying to import TrueType fonts from MapInfo, that we used to use in the MapInfo application, that we are migrating from. I try to use the "Import TrueType font" function in MapBuilder, but when I want to view the font afterwards, I just get a blank page. I have tested with the font MapInfo Cartographic (TTMICG__.TTF), which you can obtain as part as the free "MapInfo ProViewer" package from MapInfo, available here:
    http://extranet.mapinfo.com/products/download.cfm?ProductID=1062
    My own first idea was, that the underscores in the filename might cause trouble, but that doesn't seem so. Renaming the TTF file didnt make any difference. The file seems to import ok, but the Preview window remains empty.
    I have tried importing a "standard" font like Times New Roman, and that appears to work fine. Are there any specific type of TrueType fonts, that MapBuilder does not like, and which you therefore for some reason cannot use in a marker style for MapViewer?
    Thanks in advance

  • Frequent Style Switching in JTextPane Too Slow

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using a JTextPane to display multiple lines of text.
    Whenever I move the caret, I want characters in certain positions (which are determined by the new caret position) to be highlighted.
    For that, I'm using javax.swing.text.Style.
    The following snippet gives a demonstration of what I currently do inside my CaretListener:
    getStyledDocument().setCharacterAttributes(0, doc.getLength(), unmatchStyle, true);
    for (...) {
    if (...) {
    getStyledDocument().setCharacterAttributes(i, 1, matchStyle, true);
    However, I've found that setting the Style like that, letter by letter, turns out to be very slow. Is there any other way to achieve the same effect in a more efficient way?
    Thanks in advance,
    Captain Skull

    A few questions about your code.
    Could you measure how much time does it take for all parts?
    How many chars must be marked? May be it's reasonable to keep all marked offset and switch them one by one instead of applying character attributes to the whole document (first line of your code)?.
    The logic is each change of char attributes relayouts all the views. If you call it 100 times it means 100 times relayout the content, recalculate views sizes and repaint. It's really time consuming.
    You can try to remove all Document listeners from the document, do your changes, add all the listeners back and call general relayout e.g. by custom Document change event.

  • Export to pdf hangs on large reports

    Post Author: SueIrvine
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Hello. I have a Crystal Report that's part of an ASP.net web application written in VS.2003. The report is grouped so it can be run for 1 record or hundreds. The report runs fine for a data set of up to about 100 records. (the report is 1-2 pages long) After this, the export process hangs and never finishes exporting the report. (the file size in my temp directory shows 0) This is the code I'm using to export the report. With a large dataset, it never makes it past crReportDocument.export()        Dim crExportOptions As ExportOptions        Dim crDiskFileDestinationOptions As DiskFileDestinationOptions        Dim Fname As String        Fname = "c:\temp\" & Session.SessionID.ToString & ".pdf"        crDiskFileDestinationOptions = New DiskFileDestinationOptions        crDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = Fname        crExportOptions = crReportDocument.ExportOptions        With crExportOptions            .DestinationOptions = crDiskFileDestinationOptions            .ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile            .ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat        End With        crReportDocument.Export()        crReportDocument.Close()        Response.ClearContent()        Response.ClearHeaders()        Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"        Response.WriteFile(Fname)        Response.Flush()        Response.Close()        System.IO.File.Delete(Fname) I appreciate any help you can give. I've Googled this issue for the past few hours and have not found anything helpful.Sue in Ithaca, NY

    I quickly put this together… You said in the first post you have 3 presets… Have you set the marks offsets in there? It's bare bones NO error trapping in it but you could add that… It would expect your named presets to exist… Just replace my '5mm' and so on with your names…
    #target indesign
    function exportFolder() {
              var i, inFolder, idFiles, doc, offSet, pdfPre, pdfFile;
              inFolder = Folder.selectDialog( 'Where\'s the folder of ID files?' );
              if ( inFolder == null ) { return };
              idFiles = inFolder.getFiles( '*.indd' );
              for ( i = 0; i < idFiles.length; i++ ) {
                        doc = app.open( idFiles[i] );
                        offSet = doc.documentPreferences.documentBleedTopOffset;
                        if ( offSet == 5 ) { pdfPre = app.pdfExportPresets.itemByName( '5mm' ) };
                        if ( offSet == 10 ) { pdfPre = app.pdfExportPresets.itemByName( '10mm' ) };
                        if ( offSet == 15 ) { pdfPre = app.pdfExportPresets.itemByName( '15mm' ) };
                        pdfFile = File( doc.fullName.toString().replace( '.indd', '.pdf' ) );
                        doc.exportFile( ExportFormat.pdfType, pdfFile, false, pdfPre, '', false );
                        doc.close( SaveOptions.NO );
    exportFolder();
