Images in a StyledDocument - .rtf / .html -file

Is there a limitation in streaming Documents to .rtf / .html-files?
I have a code like this:
DefaultStyledDocument doc = new DefaultStyledDocument();
attr = new SimpleAttributeSet();
StyleConstants.setIcon(attr, new ImageIcon("picture.jpg"));
doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), " ",attr);
RTFEditorKit rtf = new RTFEditorKit();
FileOutputStream rtfO = new FileOutputStream("file.rtf");
rtf.write(rtfO, doc, 0, doc.getLength());
HTMLEditorKit html = new HTMLEditorKit();
FileOutputStream htmlO = new FileOutputStream("file.html");
html.write(htmlO, doc, 0, doc.getLength());
No picture or references to it is written on any of the files.
Is this a limitation to the EditorKits, or have I misunderstood somwhere?
regards
Arne

Hi Arne,
was your problem with writing out a styled document (RTF) containing images
solved? I have stumbled across the same issue (RTF document, StyleConstants.setIcon(.)),
and there is no RTF-code produced for the icon.
Greetings, Sylvia

    previous version of Firefox worked correctly. Checked version and 3.6.8 does not render images. Downloaded and installed 3.6.10 and same problem with not rendering images. Images are correctly rendered in Opera and in Explorer. Someone else has reported the problem and can see images in Netscape.

  • How do I prevent CS4 from creating HTML files on export of an image?

    Everytime I export an image i am getting a html file created too.  It is annoying having to delete them manually every time, and there seems to be no option to turn this feature off.
    Generally I dislike CS4 compared to Macromedia Fireworks v8.

    You need to select "images only" in the dialogue box when you choose Export

  • HTML reader or other means to read HTML files in browser?

    On my old XP computer I had a default that easily allowed any HTML files to display as intended. On my Windows 8.1 laptop I can't find any option to do this. Will "Scratchpad" let me display html files? I have seen the online readers which are fine for text; but if images are included with the html file folder, it is very nice to have them show up on the page, which is linked to the images in the folder.
    I don't really want to go out and download software for this purpose if I'm missing something in my current system?
    thanks

    Are these some HTML files that you saved on your computer?
    Firefox can display locally saved HTML files, but depending on how the pages were saved, some elements may be missing. There also are some security restrictions that Firefox applies to local files in a different way than pages on the web. Still, it's worth a try.
    Normally, double-clicking the file will launch it in your default browser. If there are problems with the display, could you describe them in more detail?
    </blockquote>
    The folder is unzipped now...it is an art tutorial folder....and maybe I did the wrong thing by asking my Wordpad to be the opener of the text file. That is written as HTML. Each time I click it, all I get is the raw HTML on a wordpad document. Maybe I should try downloading the zipped file again? I have another one that is in PDF format, that is no problem at all! It's the one with that non-PDF text file that's giving me headaches...
    [EDIT] Never mind, I found it! The change to Wordpad did no harm. I right clicked on that file and sure enough, it shows Firefox as the first option! I don't know how I missed it before. But when I chose that, the file opened just fine in the browser.
    All is well now! Thanks! ----- rosebud

  • Can I do correction Design of a file which was made by Dw CS6(html file) on Muse?

    I am still Adobe Muse biginner.
    Can re-design the html.file (Creative cloud's providing Dreamweaver CS6 made, exported file) on Adobe Muse?
    How to import it into Muse the file?
    I tried these 3 cases experimentally:
    1) FILE - Open site - gray and non active
    2) Insert HTML - unclear
    3) Copy and paste from opened the html data from word - uniform regulations of the html file of Dreamwever will be changed and changed on Muse's new document
    The html file which I want to re-design, it is constructed by quiet simple composition by txt and JPG images, just one site(page), I expect that the material makes be operate like a iWeb (Apple) or Dreamweaver.
    I don't want to destroy glossy design made by Dw, keep almost design, just I would like to insert image, and want to export html file again.
    Is it possible? If it were possible to do it, how do I devise it? Do you know if the procedure was written on Adobe's pages on online, or not? Please tell me the possibilities.
    I want to ask the posibility whether half constructed site can re-make on Muse.

    The downloads folder in the history manager? I'm not sure what you mean.
    When I click on History, I see what I've put in the screenshot. Then it starts telling me where I've been today. Nothing about downloads, per se. I've been getting at those through Tools/Downloads.
    I have FireFox set up to ask me where downloads should go, rather than automatically sending them to my Downloads folder in Windows, and even if it had automatically saved to Downloads, it wouldn't still be there now.
    In a pinch, I suppose I could skip the first few in the downloads list, and then start right-clicking on individual downloads and selecting Go To Download Page, but I was hoping there might be some way to narrow it down, by getting at the date on downloads. That's fairly easy in History, but I don't see any way to do it in Tools/Downloads.

  • Bitmap image won't show after converting HTML file to pdf

    I have a program which saves a technical report as a HTML file. I don't  have another choice as to file type to save as. This program has a  template which generates the report....and there are fields which are  filled in...some text fields, and one is a company logo. Just to be  clear the logo itself is not in the template, a holding place is there  which points to the location of the logo on my drive. This is all set up  by the program and can't be altered.
    If I save the logo as a jpg, png or tiff file, the logo shows up in the  final HTML report and if I use Adobe Professional (version 7.0 on Win XP)  to create a pdf the  image also shows up - a perfect replica of the report is created in pdf,  making it convenient for printing and email.
    If I save the logo as a bitmap file (which creates a higher resolution  and sharper looking logo) the logo shows up in the initial HTML  technical report, but when I convert this to pdf the file is not found,  instead it shows as a small square red box with the error "Bad file  image" or "unable to download image".
    I can't understand why this would be the case as the logo is saved in  the same location whether it is jpg, png, tiff or bmp. It just seems  that the Adobe Pro doesn't know how to "find" the bitmap logo from the  HTML template.
    I did try converting the HTML document to Word but it threw the  formatting out and when it was converted to pdf it cropped the page  & I wasn't able to resolve this...maybe it can be done but it is a  long way around in any case, particularly if steps then need to be taken  to correct the formatting.
    At the moment the document can be printed with success from the original  format - then it's a matter of scanning the printed document in order  to email. It can't be emailed directly because of the embedded  information which is lost if then sent to the recipient's computer.  However it would be nice if the doc could be converted to pdf which  would then make it easier to transfer the file to a backup drive or for  email.  Any ideas? Thanks

    Thanks for your response. Yes I did mean .bmp files.
    The problem is not getting it to show in HTML - but Adobe then picking it up from there. I guess though if it is not a standard format for HTML then maybe Adobe has trouble recognising it if it is there. Also, it is possible for Adobe to convert .bmp files if they are inserted in the HTML file, but I have instead a template with the code for the location of the file rather than the graphic itself.  I don't have this problem using the other file formats and getting them into pdf...it's just that the images aren't as sharp as the bmp. I have tried various formats and resolutions so if there isn't a way I can get the bmp from the HTML file into pdf I might just have to live with printing and scanning from the original. Thanks for your input, it confirms what I was thinking. I'll leave this unanswered for now in case someone else has further information.

  • Inserting image to a html file

    Hey guys, its been awhile since i worked with codes and i now need to ad an image to my home page where i left a space just for it. I know the image code but it doesn´t seem to be working i think i am placing it in the wrong place. Can someone help me out please ? If needs to i can send the html file (home.html) and the screenshot of my page.
    Thank you guys

    This is the code from your posted link.  I copied View > Source from FF and pasted into NoteTab....  Removed white spaces and copy Ctrl+C & pasted Ctrl+V here using >> Syntax highlighting > Plain.
    Unfortunately, this is only the bloated HTML.  It doesn't include styles from your 9 external CSS files!
    So where are you trying to insert an image???

  • HTML Files in portal that access relative images

    We put html files on some of our pages. These open up and display their contents, which include images. These images we store on the same portal page (but hide them) so the html page has access to them in the same directory. So, we basically, use a portal page as a web server directory to put the html, css, images, etc.
    Is this going to break in a future version of portal?
    According to:

    "Following this release, path-based URLs that follow the following syntax will be obsolete"
    That sounds to me like my above scenario will break. Yes?
    Thanks.

    Why do you use html files exactly ? Because, we have legacy HTML documents that are from our pre-portal intranet days. We were able to just stick them into a portal page and they worked. And, the nice thing is that they can link to each other with relative links within the same directory/path. So, it's not just images. We really don't care that much about images, that was just an example that would be easy for people to understand. Using the /images folder does not solve most of problem. And, like I mentioned before, we also have PDFs with PDF-to-PDF web links where they all link to each other with relative links within the same directory. We also have some Flash (swf) files that take advantage of page-path URLs.
    It's not like our whole portal is made up of HTML documents. But, we used many of them instead of Word or PDF documents, because that's what we had from before. So, in most cases we can convert them to PDFs. But, there are some cases where we have mini websites made up of HTML files all stuck into a Portal page. These, and the PDF-to-PDF linked documents are a bigger problem.
    This is a major headache that we are not looking forward to.

  • The icons for html files are blank . . . how do i get them to show the firefox image

    on the desktop and in directories, the icons for html files are blank . . .
    firefox is my default browser . . .
    how do i get the icons to show the firefox image ?? . . .

    You can check for issues with the Windows icon cache and try to rebuild the icon cache.
    # Open the Task Manager (Shift+Ctrl+ESC)
    # In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
    # Open the file picker via "File > New Task (Run)" and click the Browse button.
    # Type or Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local (%LocalAppData%) in the File name field (AppData is a hidden folder).
    # Select the IconCache.db file and use "Delete" in the right-click context menu to delete the file.
    # After the IconCache.db file has been deleted, start a new explorer.exe process via "File > New Task" to get the desktop and Taskbar back.
    The IconCache.db file is a hidden file, so make sure that you can see hidden files.

  • Can I insert an html file as an image into an HTML page?

    The site I'm working on (www.ngospen.com) has PNGs for background art - 10 - 15 kb per image. As the site is intended for settings with low bandwidth, I'd like these background images to be as small as possible.
    When saving for the web, one of the options is Save As HTML file. When I open the file, the artwork appears the same as the PNG (no lost resolution), but it is a much smaller file size (1 - 2 KB).
    Is it possible to insert these HTML files into my HTML pages?
    Thanks!

    Are you meaning that you work with fireworks?
    If so the html and the images you export are flattened images (slices), you have to put those images directly into your html page.
    If you want to save the file (fireworks) as a flattened image you could also goto save as -> flattened png.
    If you save your image from fireworks just as png it contains the layer information etc. etc. from fireworks, that's why you should save them as flattened png, or just export the slices.

  • How to save HTML file with images present in the server to local machine

    Hi all
    In my application i have a option for the user to save HTML files with images present in the server. The HTML file is getting saved but the images are not being saved.
    The code i am using is below :-
    l
                        File fname = new File(filePath);
                        if(!fname.exists())                return;
                        FileInputStream istr = null;
                        OutputStream ostr = null;
                        response.setContentType("application/"+format);
                        response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + fname.getName() + "\";");
                        try {
                             istr = new FileInputStream(fname);
                             ostr = response.getOutputStream();
                             int curByte=-1;
                             while( (curByte=istr.read()) !=-1)
                                  ostr.write(curByte);
                             ostr.flush();
    Can anyone suggest what i need to do
    regards

    The client should probably parse the html that comes down, and look for <img> links, and request those of the server as well.

  • View metadata near his image in a html file?

    Hi
    I am new to this board,
    I wanted to ask if there is a way to publish the metadata of an image, (or filtered metadata), into a html file, (for expample near the image).
    It want to publish photos with some of the metadata of it made readable on an easy way...
    Thank you in advance for looking at my problem
    Erwin

    Within Bridge you can select a batch of images and convert them to a Photoshop Web Photo Gallery.
    You can customize the page templates that Photoshop uses. I've not seen any documentation for metadata but some of the templates display caption, copyright, etc. Try searching or asking on the Photoshop forum.
