Images in HANA

Hi,
I wanted to store images into HANA DB. So i thought of using BLOB data type.
Next i thought of exposing this data via oData service. Later came to know that oData doesn't support BLOB entries.
So we started using php server to store the images.
So here are my questions
1) Is there any way to store images in HANA other than BLOB data type so that it can be exposed via oData?
2) Since php is causing TCO, I am also planning to migrate this oData service to xsjs so that BLOB can be used.So is it advisable to convert the oData to xsjs and also what would be the performance impact when storing and retrieving happening in HANA?

Hi Aswin,
You can store the image file as string data type in hana. But, for file storage *CLOB data types are expected to be used. So , as you are not able to expose via OData, you can make use of an XSJS service to do the same. Consider that both OData and XSJS are web services are performance is proportional to the payload. In your case it does not make any difference in performance.

Hi bill,
in addition to John and provided that I understood your question correctly:
1. Edit the image with an image editing program. Once there, give a border around the image and then write in there your text.
2. Modify your table with another row and then write your text in this new space. Fill the frame and the resulting gaps with a "camouflage paint".
3.Seperate your image from the text with a line break and write your text directly into the column (next to, below or above the image).
4. You also could create a css rule for floating text (around your image).

Insert shape over image in table cell

Want to use circles, ovals, lines with arrows to point to some part (text or image) of a cell in a table.
Need to emphasize certain areas of graphics in a document used as a step by step type document.
If I add the shape outside the table and then try to drag/drop on to the image in the cell, the entire cell jumps to a new empty cell.
Can nod get image to appear over the image in the table cell.

Image changes each time you visit the site

I want to use a selection of images on my home page which change every time you visit the website. For example, on your first visit it might be an image of a dog, then on your second visit it could be an image of a cat.
Here is another example of this technique... http://www.applebybowers.com/ When you click the refresh button, the background image changes.
Does anyone know how this can be done?

Make an Image view larger when highlighted

Hi Everyone,
I actually have two questions but I'll present the other one in another discussion.
What is the best way to code into a site when someone hovers their mouse over a picture and I want the picture (image) to be 100%( for example) larger? Most likely I would want the larger image to be centered over the smaller image thus blocking off the smalller image until the person moves the mouse off of the smaller image region.

Project idea: quickest way to load pictures and movies to the page.

In my homepage.mac.com website I used a javascript which referred to a text file to pre-load all the gif, jpeg and png graphic files into the users browser. The first page to my website was a small page of text someone would read and then given choices of where to click to next. The time for reading and deciding what to do next gave time for the person's browser to then load most if not all of the graphic files, this enabling faster loading of any of the following pages. This code:

The introduction page to one's website has to be small, and contain info to make someone stop and read and to give the time necessary for the browser to work the pre-upload of graphics. Navigating between pages is noticeably faster once all the graphics are loaded in.
My homepage.mac.com webpage does load faster after I implemented the java code, though I haven't spent the time to implement it into my web.mac.com website. No time to do so as of lately.
And I'm sort of lazy in that it is not a priority to do so yet. Later on I will definitely want to tinker and put this code into my iWeb site, because my future website will probably contain alot of pictures, though if anyone is familiar with the script and wants to take the time to figure out how to work it into their iWeb website, and then pass on all the knowledge of how it's done to all of us here at these iWeb discussions ..., well, thanks for helping alot of us stay lazy and not have to struggle doing so ourselves. Embed PDF into webpage

I am playing with the possiblity of displaying pdf files inside an html document.
Has anyone had any success doing that?
It seems to have mulitiple issues acrosss the different browsers.

Multiple logos or watermarks on a photo

I am trying to figure out how to put multiple logos and or watermarks on multiple photos as a batch in CS6 or LR5. I'm pretty sure that LR5 can only do one png at a time. But I am doing shots of local bands and would like to be able to put their logo in one corner and mine in the other. I just don't know how to make it happen on both landscape and portrait style photos. Any help would be nice.

And by the way there is the misconception that we can protect our graphics (or videos). With little effort interested people can get to their destination. Under some circumstances it simply is a question of browsers technique.
You will see, that in the end it is still difficult to protect images from unauthorized copying. So you should use best (quote): "To discourage theft, use watermarks, lower quality images and/or digital watermarking like http://www.digimarc.com/digimarc-for-images."

you can see the hotspot icons by clickking into your image. By the way: hotspot technique doesn't work in conjunction with a background image.

Can not get a logo to link to the index page.

Every month I change the monthly sponsors for our tournaments. I removed last month sponsors and want to replace with this month in DW. I put my cursor where I want the logo to go and I can not get it to link. I want to replace the Main St Jewelers and Microtel with The Mill Casino logo. The website is thesoba.com

As I can see in your source code you use a directory "LOGO's" you better should write "LOGOs", and in the same way you better should delet the blanks in the names of your directories.

the erstwhile "wall initiaded headache" is gone, I hope and now you want some more?Let's balance my reason: Those lines are there for a purpose to show the link focus i.e. that is the active link, it is a usability thing in my tuppenceworth.
If you are adamant that, I could imagine this solution: Try setting the background color of the table or div and the image similar to the color of the images.

Problem loading images in adobe bridge html photo gallery

Can someone please, please help me!? I can not figure out why the images will not load in my adobe bridge html photo gallery cs5. I am not getting any error messages in Firefox and just the x in internet explorer.

I created the gallery as a html file for compatibality reasons due to accesbility issues with flash, and followed the general insturctions. The gallery folder is called wetlandsgallery and it is loading everything style-wise except the images themselves.
I then made the gallery within an iframe so it would be more similar to the other pages on the site and contain the menu bar - but no change on the lack of images!
Having looked around online I think it might be something to do with the bin folder?? Does this have some secutity somewhere thats protecting the images? I am also unsure if I filled in the FTP info correctly when creating the site as I was getting the message "could not connect to FTP server" so I had to copy over the file from my hard drive to the server provider files. All the tutortials say to load your gallery and no mention of what to do when it won't connect to FTP server.
If you could also tell me how to edit the image sizes that would be a great help too, as any size changes I make to either the bin/large or bin/thumnail images makes no difference in what appears in the preview?
Help would be very greatfully appreciated as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure it out with no sucess and a possible bald patch!

Using your source code without these things I could see some of your images.
2. Looking to your website with my IE8 into image 7 (e.g.) I saw this:
what means there is a reference to a html file, not to an image. ???
3. Here it becomes interesting (completely contrary to my point 2.), looking for your path:

I can see this image in my IE8 (some people in front of a "wetland". But still I've to assume (as Murray already did too), that there is something wrong with your upload and the pathes.
4. Allow me to make one brief point, we talked about here on several occasions: please don't use spaces in image, folders or filenames. I'll quote Murray: In general, URL encoding spaces does not lead to problems. ... Whatever the details are, though, using spaces in filenames or paths is a bad practice which WILL lead to problems.
5. What concerns the image sizes, maybe later (I didn't understand your question correctly I fear). There is still my language barrier, I'm sorry.

Help with SWFObject2, problem with display of alternate image

I'm trying to use SWFObject2 dynamic publishing version to test the visitors browser for flash pluggin and the version.
I want to only show my flash image if the browser finds the flash plug in and it supports the correct version of flash for my banner, otherwise I want to display a jpeg image in its place.
When flash support is available in my browser the flash image is displayed, no problems. But when Javascript or flash plugin support is not available and my alternate image jpeg is displayed something wierd happens and i would appreciate any help on this:
The image is displayed but is pushed to the right of the screen and it seems to have a box behind the image, the edge of the box is only visable and changes colour on rollove like it wants to be clicked, obviously i cannot see what the box is because the image covers it. There is nothing wrong with my image, i put that in place first and tested it loaded ok before i added the SWFObject code and file.

How do I add text to an image?

I have purchased a template and imported it to Photoshop. I then sliced the template into sections, saved it for web and opened the index file in dreamweaver. My questions is, how do I add text to the images? I want to add the text content, within the boxes on the template, but because they are exported as images from Photshop I can't seem to do it...So let's say there is a box in the middle of the template and I want it to say, Services at the top and below that have a little information about the services offered with a "read more" button at the bottom. I have exported the template out of photoshop with text added and with the boxes empty. I tried to add the text in dreamweaver but couldn't. When I export the sliced template out of photoshop with the text already included, it does show up in Dreamweaver, however it is not in html and I would like it to be for SEO purposes. Forgive me if this question is silly or already answered, I have looked everywhere and couldn't find the answer.
