Images shrunk in crystal 8.5

Has anyone experienced an issue where images such as a bmp appear shrunk when displayed in a report, even though the bmp looks fine when opened with another application? The file name of the bmp is also displayed in the report.

Hi
It may be possible that the report has got some issues within itself. Try checking as below:
1. The section on which you have the OLE object, insert a subsection below and insert the OLE there.
2. See if that too shrinks.
If that too shrinks, you can also check the size of the image, page set up of crystal, try a landscape.

  • Image Quality In Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010

    I am using the new production release of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 and I am having an issue with image quality when adding an image to a crystal report.
    The image itself is a .TIF file,  and when opened in Windows, the quality of the image, which is mostly text, is very high. The image was created from a electronic PDF form and I intend to use this as a background for the crystal report, over which I will place data fields.
    As soon as the image is added to the report you can see the degradation in quality in the design window and in the preview window within visual studio. The quality remains low when viewing the report in the WPF report viewer and when printing from this control.
    I have ensured the "Retain Original Image Color Depth" option is checked but this has made no difference (the image is black and white anyway).
    The image in the report has been left at its native size, no resizing at all. The image is 355KB in size if that's relevant.
    Is there a reason the image looses quality when added to a report? Is it being compressed? More importantly, is there a way to make the image retain its native quality when adding it to a crystal report?
    Thanks in advance.

    The following image is the image I am trying to display. Although imageshack has converted it to a png, if you right click and save the image you can open it and zoom in with little image degradation.
    http://img132.imageshack.us/i/j301.png
    The following is a screen shot of how the tif file looks in the designer when zooming in:
    http://img138.imageshack.us/i/j30lowquantity.jpg
    The second image has lost its clarity and is unusable when printing.
    I hope this helps.

  • Unable to view images in the crystal reports on a jsp

    Hi folks,
    I am unable to view any image (not even the ones like businessobjects logo) in the crystal reports fetched from the CMS. I am able to fetch the report properly. But I don;t get to see the images in the reports.
    If anyone of you know how to fix it. Kindly post it. It's urgent.
    PS: It would be great if you could kind of share a check list of things that need to be taken care of while viewing a crystal report with images.

    Hi Suresh,
    Please check that you have crystalreportviewers11 (for version XI) or crystalreportviewers115 ( for version XI R2) folder in your BO installation and your web.xml has correct reference to it. You can copy this folder over in your web application and
    Add an entry in web.xml as follows ( if it doesn't exist)
    <context-param>
      <param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
      <param-value>/<your application name>/crystalreportviewers115</param-value>
    </context-param>
    crystalreportviewers11\115 have images folder which contain all the images for Logo and toolbar. Check the images folder in viewers and make sure that they exist.

  • Image Resolution in Crystal Report

    I am facing problem in image resolution when resizing big picture in crystal report.
    Please help.

    Thanks for your reply
    The issue is the pictures (e.g. employee photos) are saved in Database as BLOB data type.
    The report is loading employee photo into the report (e.g. employee card), but the loaded picture is coming up with much less quality than the original.

  • Vista/Adobe 9/sql image Error in Crystal Report:Failed to Export the Report

    When I try to export my Crystal Report (v2008) from a Vista machine (using Crystal RDC export methods) as a PDF, I get the following error:
    Error in Crystal Report:  Failed to export the report.
    This only happens when a particular subreport (that contains a sql image) prints (based on an input parameter).  We have other subreports (within this same report) that print a sql image just fine.  But, when this subreport prints, the above error appears.
    I can run the same report on an XP machine without error.
    Exportmodeller.dll and crtsv.dll are both installed and registered to the
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\bin folder
    I have tried opening the report, removing the image, and then adding it back in again to the subreport.
    Still receive the same error.
    Any suggestions?

    Don,
    Can you please clarify?
    Our VB6 app that uses Crystal XI RDC runtime components.  Our Crystal reports are edited in CR2008 SP1 developer edition (not through the VB.NET embedded report designer).  We have deployed the CRXIRelease 2 runtime components (via the merge module) to our client machines in order to execute the RDC.
    We can print/preview/export to excel, but the pdf creation is failing with this error.
    We are only using the RDC (which we know is no longer supported) because of huge issues with the Crystal for .NET methods we are having with our customers (I have an active case for this issue).  Therefore, we have to rollback our .NET product and revert to the RDC code.
    Vista is failing to create a PDF for a report developed in the CR2008 SP1 developer edition when using the RDC.
    When you say  "Also, those old dll's will not work in CR 2008. Last patches will give you the option to export to Excel in Legacy mode. We built it into our export dll.", what do you mean by "will not work in CR2008"?
    Thank you

  • How to dynamically load a Base64 string to an image on the Crystal Report?

    I have a signature stored in my SQL Server 2008 DB as a Base64 encoded string. It is in a datatype of nvarchar(MAX), field named ="signature_stream"
    I am using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008.a XML field definition file to load the data to the report.  In that file [signature_stream] is a xs:string type.  This is a asp.net application so ideally I would like not to have to save the image to disk before showing it.
    I need to be able to take [signature_stream] and load it onto my report from server side code.
    Any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Hi Jimmy,
    CR is a 32 bit app so it won't be able to handle an image in x64 format unless you find a way to convert it to x86 type.
    The MS SQL client may be able to do this for you though. Install the SQL Native 10 client from the MS SQL Tools menu options and then convert/update the report and DSN to use the SQLNCLI10.dll as the client dll.
    See if you can add that field to the report, if that works then you can add any image to the report and set the image formula to that database field using the Formula field:
    click the X-2 button for graphic location and select the field with the image in it.
    Now preview, if the Client converts 64 to 32 bit then this should work for you, if not then only option is as Dell pointed out and save the image to the HD in BMP or JPG format and then you can use the same Graphic Location formula to point to the folder and file location.
    To update it in code it would look like this in the KBase article:
    2021348 - Modifying a Picture object in .NET ignores Object.Height and Object.Width when setting Condition Formula Can Grow is enabled
    Symptom
    When modifying an existing picture object and using a formula to update the image file location and name using the .Modify() method the image is not sizing accordingly.
    Environment
    Crystal Reports for Visual Studio
    VS 2010
    VS 2012
    VS 2013
    Resolution
    You can do this all dynamically and creatively as you wish but the basics to updating the image is as follows:
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PictureObject boPictureObject = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PictureObject(); ;
    string strNewImageFilename = "D:\\Atest\\DSC_2655.jpg";
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ReportObject oReportObject in objects)
        if (oReportObject.Kind == CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.CrReportObjectKindEnum.crReportObjectKindPicture)
            var oPlaceholderPicture = oReportObject as CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PictureObject;
            if (oPlaceholderPicture != null)
                    // clone the original object so it can be modified
                    var oNewPicture = (CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PictureObject)oPlaceholderPicture.Clone(true);
                    var cf = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ConditionFormula();
                    PicFileLocationFormula.Text = "\"" + strNewImageFilename + "\"";
                    oNewPicture.Format.EnableCanGrow = false;
                    oNewPicture.GraphicLocationFormula = PicFileLocationFormula;
                    oNewPicture.Width = 4320;  // 3 inches
                    oNewPicture.Height = 1440;  // 1 inch
                    rptClientDoc.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.Modify( oPlaceholderPicture, oNewPicture );
                    // Call the Modify again to update the CanGrow flag to false - default is set to True
                    oNewPicture.Format.EnableCanGrow = false;
                    rptClientDoc.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.Modify(oPlaceholderPicture, oNewPicture);
    This issue has been tracked with ADAPT01727457 and scheduled for SP 11 ( possibly SP 10 )
    In the mean time use the above work around

    Hi Folk,
    I have a problem to display an encrypted file in crystal report with transparent background.
    I have a column varbinary(Max)  in SQL Server Database which stores  image bytes. I have decrypted this column before displaying in crystal report. The report display the image but with a black background instead of transparent.
    Is there an answer to this ...

    Hi there,
    how can I remove all images that are inside a Crystal Report programmatically? How are they stored internally? How can I access these images?

    Hi Ludek,
    thanks for the hint. I did the following which removes everything. Unfortunately, the limitation to Images (I wanted to remove a bmp I added to the report) does not work, do you know, why (see commented line)?
    //remove images
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.ReportDefController2 reportDefController = rasDoc.ReportDefController;
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.ReportObjectController reportObjectController = reportDefController.ReportObjectController;
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ReportObjects reportObjects = reportObjectController.GetAllReportObjects();
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ReportObject reportObject in reportObjects)
        //if (reportObject.Kind.Equals(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportObjectKind.PictureObject))
              reportObjectController.Remove(reportObject);

  • Image shadow in crystal report

    Hello expert:
    in my crystal report, there are a few images, but those images are attached with light grey shadow in following situcations:
    (1) when I export this report into PDF file from CR 2008
    (2) when I display this report in infoview
    (3) when I export this report into PDF file from infoview
    (4) when I print this report from infoview.
    but for the following case, there is no shadow for those images
    (1) I print this report directly in CR 2008
    (2) print this report into PDF file, then print this PDF file
    I want to create PDF file for this report. and also remove shadow for those images in the PDF file? Appreciate very much.

  • No images when deploying Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005

    Post Author: wcl
    CA Forum: Publishing
    Developed a ASP.Net web site that uses Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005, everything works fine locally.
    Following instructions from  http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/merge_modules.asp#07 a deployment package has been created using CrystalDecisionsRedist2005_x86 merge module and the website has been installed.
    When it is deployed to a remote development server the report images are not displayed.  The report navigation works, it is the images that are not found when the report is displayed.
    Should the vs2005 key be entered some where on the remote server?

    Thnakyou very much for your quick reply.
    The directory has not been created by the merge module,  which folder should it be created in and what contetants should it have?

    an example of an image it can not find is "/aspnet_client/System_Web/2_0_50727/CrystalReportWebFormViewer3/images/toolbar/upd.gif",  so does the folder '/aspnet_client/System_Web/2_0_50727/CrystalReportWebFormViewer3' need setting up?

  • Load Multiple Images in Crystal Report using Paths

    Hi Guys,
    I am currently in need of developing a new requirement for our company's client. We have to load multiple images using just link in Crystal Report. Let's say that the images are stored in a folder (e.g., C:\Datafolder\Images\) and i have to fetch two images to show in crystal report (say, C:\Datafolder\Images\imageval1 and C:\Datafolder\Images\imageval2). These are actually dynamically created and therefore the number of images are not known and so i have to iterate through the list of image links.
    Is it possible using merely crystal report and how?. If not, can I do it using Crystal Report SDK?. Any help will be appreciated. Please take note that we're also using C# in developing our software applications.
    Thanks and best regards.
