Imap message - setHeader problem

on gmail server does not work changing on header (since today... yesterday everytging was ok...)
            Message m = f.getmessage(0);
            MimeMessage mime = new MimeMessage((MimeMessage)m);
            mime.setHeader(
                    "ABC",
                    new Date()
            mime.setFlags(new Flags(Flag.DELETED), false);
            try {
                f.appendMessages(new MimeMessage[] {mime});
                m.setFlag(Flag.DELETED, true);
            catch(Exception ex) {
                log.debug(ex.getMessage());
            f.expunge();
            f.close(false);I avoided connecting to store, getting session.
Problem is how to change header in ImapMessage - on other servers (aol, vfemail) everything works fine, on gmail everything was ok until yesterday... I don't know whats going on? Does gmail blocks setting headers? Is it possible to block something like this?
And second question - is it possible to change (or set) header to message without downloading, deleting and sending other instance of the same message on server? what in case when message contains attachments? this operation won't be efficient... this does not have any sense, imap should be fast so he should download only headers (subject, from) and the rest when message should be downloaded.
I have problem with synchronizing messages which are on server with messages in database. Does exist way to identify message 1 to 1? When I will get data from DB can I tell that on server exists EXACTLY one message which I want to download?

Thanks for the responses ..
yes, actually, I have tried reconstruct from mailbfr (options -o and -m) as well as via cyradm.. and SA
either option succeeds at reconstructing all the boxes fine, and permissions appear to be fine as well..
drwxr-xr-x 4 cyrusima mail - 136B Jun 3 2006 mailstore
mailbfr reports both partitions being operated on ..
my config also appears OK, its the same as has been working flawlessly for over a year :
admins: cyrusimap localadmin
configdirectory: /var/imap
partition-default: /var/spool/imap
unixhierarchysep: yes
altnamespace: yes
servername: mail.mydomain.com
sievedir: /usr/sieve
sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
lmtpdowncasercpt: 1
tlscertfile: /etc/certificates/mail.mydomain.com.crt
logrollingdays: 0
logrolling_daysenabled: false
tlskeyfile: /etc/certificates/mail.mydomain.com.key
imapauth_crammd5: yes
imapauthgssapi: yes
popauthclear: no
enable_pop: no
tlscommonname: mail.mydomain.com
tlsserveroptions: use
imapauthlogin: yes
partition-mailstore: /Volumes/path/to/alt-partition
I did notice an odd thing though..
although the boxes are being read from /var/spool/imap
and accounts show "default" partition (in SA)
when I try to create a box (via Mail.app) in IMAP acct..
it fails .. can't so it ..
and the IMAP log shows
imaps[22176]: IOERROR: creating directory /Volumes/path/to/alt-partition: Permission denied
so it appears to want to write to the right place and can't ..
but still reads from the wrong place.
something is amiss !!
where to look next ?

  • How do I archive IMAP messages with non Gmail/iCloud account on iOS Mail.app?

    This may seem like a simple question, however I don't seem to be able to work this one out for myself. I hope you guys/girls can help!
    I have my IMAP email account setup on my iPhone (own domain name, DBmail IMAP mail server running on VPS). Email works great; I can send/receive, delete, move messages no problem.
    When I used MobileMe, Gmail or iCloud, I was given the option to "Archive mail" in the account configuration for that mail account in Settings.app. However, with a simple IMAP account, even though I have an "Archive" folder in my IMAP mailbox, which shows up with a suitable 'Archive-like' icon in Mail.app on my iPhone, I am not given the option to "Archive mail" - i.e. move a message from 'Inbox' to 'Archive' by touching the Archive button - Instead, I just get the delete button, which just moves messages to my 'Trash' folder in my mailbox.
    Up to now, I've just put this down to Mail.app on iOS lacking this functionality. After upgrading to iOS 6 this morning (which I hoped would bring this functionality) I'm starting to question whether there's a setting or a workaround that I've missed that provides this functionality. I'm not sure I understand why Mail.app on my MAC allows me to Archive mail for my simple IMAP account, but my iOS devices won't.
    Does anyone know of a way to get a simple IMAP account setup in Mail.app on iOS to 'Archive' mail, as opposed to delete? Please chime in if you have any suggestions.
    Joe

    I know this is old but it's google #1 for the relevant search and it took me a while
    Settings -> mail, contacts, calendars -> pick the imap account -> advanced
    Move discarded emails to:
    Pick the 'archive' option
    I have no idea why, must be apple logic, but with delete being the default that's all you can do, when archive is the selection it replaces the deleted button but you can hold it down to get a delete/trash option also.

  • Mail constantly re-downloads thousands of IMAP messages

    On my laptop, I have nine IMAP accounts set up. Many of them are very old and have tens of thousands of messages stored in many folders.
    Mail.app is caching them locally, but frequently it seems to feel the need to re-download many thousands of them. The Mail Activity panel always shows things like "Incoming messages: 4507 of 10833, 53 KB/s".
    If I look at the activity window, it is synchronizing IMAP folders ... and the folders it is synchronizing haven't changed in over two years: I have stopped storing new messages in them. So it should already be synced, and Mail.app shouldn't have to download new messages anymore. But it re-downloads them often. Not every time I open mail, but at least a few times per week.
    I don't think the problem is with the folders on the server, because (1) I don't see this doesn't happen on my Mac Pro desktop, and they use the same mail accounts, (2) They are gmail accounts, which I'd assume Google configures intelligently. Though, the desktop is on all the time and Mail is always open, so maybe it does re-download them frequently but I don't notice.
    It's very annoying because it pegs my processor at 100% for about 20 minutes every time it happens, which is often. Slows down the machine and heats it up enough to burn my lap in just a few minutes!
    Any thoughts on how to get Mail.app to be sane about syncing local copies of remote IMAP messages? This is ridiculous.

  • IMAP messages do not appear in viewer

    I am having a problem with two out of three IMAP mail accounts from a private server not displaying new IMAP messages in the viewer. The counter shows that the messages have arrived, and I can find and read them via the iPhone or webmail. If I quit mail and restart the program, the messages appear, another work around is that I have to rebuild the mailbox every time I want to see my messages. I running Mail version Version 4.1 (1076) and Mac OS X 10.6.1.
    Can someone explain what might be going on and how I can solve the problem

    Exactly the same problem here on my home and work computers. Work computer runs 10.5.8, home computer runs 10.6.1.
    Two IMAP accounts display messages sometimes, sometimes not.
    Hope somebody figures this out, extremely annoying.

  • New IMAP messages don't show as "unread" in Lion

    I recall fixing this problem in Leopard, but I can't remember how I did it.
    I read my email on three devices (iMac, iPad 1, iPhone 3G). Since I upgraded the iMac to Lion, I've found that Mail frequently, but not always, retrieves new IMAP messages, but they don't appear as unread (i.e., no blue dot). Consequently, they're easy to miss, and the Dock icon badge doesn't show the new count, either.
    Suggestions?

    Mail Preferences > Viewing > Display unread messages with bold font.
    On the top of the same preferences page is the option to use classic layout i.e. SL.
    Mail Preferences  > General  > Make sure that Dock unread count is selected.
    S.

  • NOTES show other IMAP messages.....why?

    In the section called REMINDERS, that shows Notes and To Do, Mail is displaying folders that should be in the IMAP area, not in here.
    Does anyone know why?

    looks like messed up mail preferences. quit Mail and move the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to the desktop. start Mail. it will be empty and you'll have to recreate all your accounts. once you do Mail will recognize existing mailboxes so you won't have to redownload your messages. the problem should hopefully go away.

  • Recover deleted imap messages from os x server

    Ok so my work email is IMAP on mac mail (imac lion)  running from a mac server 10.6.8 snowL.
    My settings on my imac mac mail are so that deleted IMAP messages are removed from the mac server after 30 days.
    but how do i get these messages back/restore? they are not in my mac mail trash?  is it done server side?
    doh!

    Now I've testd all available clients. None of them can access fiel sharing on the server:
    10.6.8
    10.7.4
    10.8
    Therefore I assume that it isn't an authorization problem.
    If I do "telnet steve.local 548" on the server itself, I get a connection. So the server must be running.
    The firewall has been disabled by "sudo pfctl -d".
    The 10.6.8 client can even do screen sharing. So there must be an IP route.
    I'm still clueless now.

  • The message "A problem has occurred trying to process your request. Please try again later. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused." is displyed when I try to log on to my internet banking. Please can you tell me why?

    Since upgrading to the latest version of Firefox, I'm now getting the message "A problem has occurred trying to process your request. Please try again later. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused." when I try to log onto my internet banking site. This occurs after going thru the first two steps of the login process. I don't get this problem when I login to all my other bookmarked sites, or when I use Internet Explorer. I'm using Windows XP. Any suggestions? (Note: I've just reloaded version 6 of Firefox, but it's not made any difference.)

  • Hi! I can't upgrade my iTunes 10.3.1.55 on my Windows XP 2002 SP3 to the latest version of iTunes. Got the message: "A problem has occured with the Windows Installer-package. A program needed for this installation could not be run." What to do?

    Hi! I can't upgrade my iTunes 10.3.1.55 on my Windows XP 2002 SP3 to the latest version of iTunes. Got the message: "A problem has occured with the Windows Installer-package. A program needed for this installation could not be run." What to do?

    Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
    Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
    If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • Problem with HP pavillion dv7 giving message (a problem with the internal fan enter = shutdown

    HP Pavillion DV7 notebook PC
    Windows 7 64
    intel I5
    6 gig memory
    service pack 1
    I am trying to identify a problem with my HP Pavillion dv7 laptop
    Several months ago it started getting hot and showing messages about problems with the internal fan and battery. It would say enter = shutdown and shut off. I suspected a bad battery so I checked it without it just plugging it in with the power cable. It seemed to work better so I assumed that was the problem.
    I ordered a new battery and it worked for a while. The problem came back and is getting worse. I can run it without the battery for a while but it gets got and shows the same message.
    I read on here that flashing and updating the bios worked for some but the latest update gives me an error IHISI not support BIOS then Insyde flash not supported.

    Shortly after launching itunes, the program freezes and gives me the following message:A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. The program then closes, even if I have not completed what I am doing. How do I resolve this problem?

    That is what I thought. Cannot figure out how to turn it off, though.
    However, when I talked to her over the phone, she is definitely using Firefox. I tried to access her Internet Explorer, but it has been deactivated, I believe by Firefox.
    She primarily uses the Internet to communicate with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Her e-mail account is with Yahoo Mail, and she uses Firefox to access it. Occasionally, she uses the web to look up information, and may have downloaded a virus.
    Do you think there's something in Yahoo Mail that conflicts with Firefox? Is there some remnant of Internet Explorer that needs to be deactivated? Could she have a virus?
    Any information would be gratefully appreciated. I live 7 hours away, and can only help her over the phone. I'm trying to develop a course of action that I can use with her. I know a little bit about Firefox, so need your expertise.

  • ITunes will not open, no message of problems

    iTunes does not show up whenever I click on it, and no message of problems comes onto the screen. Absolutely nothing at all happens. Help?

    See if QuickTime will open. iTunes uses QT codecs to play everything.
    Sometimes QT will give an error message, where iTunes won't.

  • RFC Message: Internal Problem, in REDWOOD CPS.

    We have Redwood CPS 7 connected up to SAP IS-U Supply.
    We keep getting random RFC errors when executing a script.
    Any Idea
      ERROR LOG   *******************
    ABAP_RUN: R/3 call BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN failed
    RFC error: XM034
    RFC Message: Internal problem (function BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN)
    TCTRETURNS/        : deleted
    /ERROR LOG   *******************

    Hi,
    if this is a random issue I assume that the authorizations of the CPS communication user are OK, otherwise please verify:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/49/bb35b8623a489aa63abd9f5ebf2448/frameset.htm
    If this random issue happens only if you execute your custom script, I would assume that the script wants to create a job with invalid data. For example: some data is missing or wrong like start date/time, job class, job user, job name.
    Let's analyze what you have posted here:
    RFC error: XM034
    RFC Message: Internal problem (function BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN)
    -> XM034 point to the XMI log
    -> use transcation RZ15 to analyze the XMI log
    -> XM034 means "problem detected" (see appendix 8 of document ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/icc/bc-xbp/BCXBPDOC70V3.pdf)
    I locked into the code and indeed it seems that function BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN returns this message if the job cannot be created.
    So if Sys- and XMI-Log cannot help you in solving this issue, I would create a message for dev. support.
    Cheers,
    Martin
