IMovie ´11 Problem linking existing prosject to moved iPhoto libery..

Hello.
I ran low on storage space on my Mac Air and had to do something to continue working with my paraglidermovie.
I was not abel to move the the movies from " event libery" (from Macintosh HD) to the external drive (OSX-formated) to my new HDD. I had to do it another way. (This may be because the movies used in my prosject, was not organized in (new) happening.
So after moving the whole iphoto libery to the external drive, how do i link my existing project fil (with missing source signal on every tumbnail picture) to iPhoto-libery at the new external location?  (i was abel to link my iphoto to the remote libery, since the program asked if i wanted to create a new or use existing)
I have worked more then 30 hours on this movie, and would be very thankful if someone could give me a tips or two.
Is something unclear let me explain in another way...
The problem is linking the iMovie project to "external files" that i have allready used in my prosject.

You are correct, of course.  I do not have the media card that housed the .mts files. I had, perhaps errantly, thought that by dragging the entire contents of the media card to a hard drive that this would suffice. Clearly, something went wrong. I was able to have iMovie read the files, as I had used a 3rd party package to convert to .mp4. The issue was the size of the resulting files and their behaviour in iMovie.They were so bloated that I could not even skim over the clips in the editor window without a 1-2 second delay and even then, they would stutter.
I seem to now have my hands on a converter that is doing the job, although I am navigating through some audio to video sync issues.
