IMovie not letting me export in 1080p

I'm working on a imovie project that previously was able to share to a 1080p file.  Now it only has the option of 720p.  All my original clips are 1080p so I'm not sure how to share in 1080p.

I believe the resolution setting of a project is determined by the first added movie clip.  From then on it can't be changed.   You can see the setting by selecting the project icon and choosing Info from above the viewer on the right.
Is your project set to 720p?  If so it won't let you share to a higher resolution.
From what you say it seems that my first statement may not be correct but try creating a new project,  putting a single 1080p clip in it and immediately checking the resolution setting for the project.  If it is 1080p I think you will find that you can copy everything from your problem project to the new project, (deleting that first clip if you need to afterwards) and you will still be set to 1080p.
Let me know if it works.
Geoff.

  • Both After Effects & Adobe Media Encode CC giving are not letting me export.

    Dear All,
Both After Effects & Adobe Media Encode CC giving are not letting me export movies.
Some times they will, but after one file both programs give me the following error messages.
    After effects:
“[file path and name].mov. An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)"
    AME:
    "Can't read from source."
I've went through the forum and found threads & pages discussing the problem.
    E.g.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/08/solutions-for-problems-with-quicktime-files-in -after-effects-cc-12-0-because-of-conflict-with-dvcprohdvideoout-quicktime-component.html
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1252092
After following all the tips and suggestions (from deinstalling quicktime components & audio components to completely reinstalling CC) I'm still experiencing the problems.
Which leaves me in a bit of a squeeze. I need to export over 144 movies in the coming 2 days and the only way to do this is to quit and open media encoder (or AE) after each single export.
    Not really an option.
Both problems have the process Adobe QT sever in common, I took this from the console:
    9/26/13 1:02:44.517 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[171]: ([0x0-0x42042].com.adobe.Adobe QT32 Server.application[331]) Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11

    System information:
Retina MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) (16gb ram)
    Mac OS X 10.8.5 (12F37)
Running Adobe CC (for teams), all apps are up-to-date.
I don't no why Adobe puts out such a buggy piece of software (I know it has to with Apple's poor 32bit quicktime implimentation, but hey, this was known information no?).
Upgrading to CC has given our office nothing but problems.
Hope someone can help to find a work around until Adobe realeases a proper update and solves this problem once and for all.
    All help is much appreciated.
    Kind regards,

    Hello Tim,
Thanks for the really quick response!
Regarding the crash log: it doesn't reference com.apple.audio.CoreAudio (though it did before, so I followed all the steps in your blog post before I posted to this forum).
    I've uploaded the crashlog to:
    http://martijnlambada.com/TMP/AdobeQT32servercrash.zip
If you want to inspect it. It mentions the DXV codec (which I also uninstalled), but the crash keeps occuring. Also I need to export to DXV since it's the only codec the d3 media
    server accepts (http://d3technologies.com).
I followed all the steps in the troubleshooting steps.
Codecs used: I've tried everything from animation to Apple ProRes (including: h264/motion jpeg/uncompressed). With all codecs the Adobe QT32 server keeps crashing (though I can't always reproduce).
Export destination: Internal SSD (same as where the OS is installed on) + External raid (via firewire & thunderbolt) + external HD via usb 3.0 (tried everything).
When does the problem start: Really hard to specify, sometimes a day without crashes, sometimes every export for days on end. Sometime after restarting (tried logging out, restarting, switching off and on the computer). With other programs running and with out. Now checking every process active when exporting, and comparing log files.
Can you export to other formats: See question 1, sometimes I can, sometimes not.
When you launch AE and/or AME, is QT32 Server running? At what point does it stop running?  Still runing when I open the program. It crashes when exporting (ofter after finishing the first export).
What component files are in your Library/QuickTime folder?: Currently the folowing:
    AppleAVCIntraCodec
    AppleHDVCodec.component
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    AppleMPEG2Codec.component
    AppleProResCodec.component
    DesktopVideoOut.component
    DVCPROHDCodec.component

  • I have Adobe Premiere Elements and it will not let me export?

I have Adobe Premiere Elements and it will not let me export? It also will not let me login. It says  photoshop.com is temporarily unaivalable and to check my network settings. Error 400. Can anyone help me? I need to export this video as soon as possible.

You don't say which version of Premiere Elements you're using, but Photoshop.com was discontinued last year, so you won't be able to log into it.
As for exporting -- it's hard to give you specific information without knowing which version of the software you're using and on what operating system but -- which Share or Publish & Share option are you using and what is happening when you use it?

  • Help!!! Premiere Proc CC will not let me Export!?!?!?!

    Helo,
I have Creative Cloud for my Pc. I downloaded Premiere Pro CC onto my Pc. I had made a video, and exported it already. When I was going through the video again I found a mistake, so I deleted that video, went into Primere Pro CC and fixed the mistake. But now, Premiere Pro CC will not let me export the video?!?! It lets me click on the export, but it wont let me click on media, or any other options except forBatch List, AAF, and Final Cut Pro XML.
Also, in my apps section od Creative Cloud, it says that Premiere Pro CC has an update and that it has "Bug Fixes"... When I go to update it, it says that the update failed because it cannot locate the files?!?!
    Thank you for your help!

Be sure the sequence is highlighted before trying to export.
    Not sure on the update.

  • IMovie 10: how to export in 1080P

    I use iMovie 10.0.3
In the export settings, it will only allow me to choose between SD / 540P and HD 720P, the option for HD 1080P is there but greyed-out (cannot be selected).
Can anyone explain to me, why that is and how I can change this to export at the hightest quality?
Oh, and why is there not a dedicated forum for 10.0.3?
    Thanks!

Hi guys, just answered my own question, after looking around, click on the project then went to properties in the inspector. This then allowed me to choose the Preset which i then set to be 1080... That was the answer .

  • Image in nested sequence does not let me export my project

    Hello,
    Here's my issue:
In my Premiere project, I have a "Master" sequence in which I have normal a/v files and two nested sequences, for the video intro and ending.
The problem is with the nested intro sequence, which is composed of several images that I've animated, plus sound. I've narrowed the source of the problem to one specific image in this sequence, which is 5760x3240. I've read in other threads that images larger than 1920x1080 can be a problem, but couldn't find further info.
What happens when I try to render my video in 1080p with this image in a nested sequence is the encoding fails with AME giving me this log message -
    " - Encoding Time: 00:00:01
    09/22/2014 10:45:46 PM : Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error."
When I try to render in 720p with the image in the nested sequence it works fine. When I take the image out of the nested sequence and just put it on the "Master" sequence it also renders just fine, even in 1080p.
So my question is - why can't I render my project if I have this image in a nested sequence, and if possible, how can I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello again,
While trying to do what you told me I've come across something interesting. Apparently it's not only that one image that's responsible for the problem. Here's how I have it setup:
Premiere for some reason seems to have trouble rendering the still image "BG2.png" (1920x1080) AND the problematic 5760x3240 nested image at the same time. As "BG2.png" does not actually appear until later, I tried cutting it just before the point where it should appear. With that, AME was able to render the video until the point where "BG2.png" started, then it failed again. So I checked in the nested sequence and also cut the 5760x3240 image (because it appears briefly in the start of the sequence then has its oppacity set to 0, it wasn't a problem). So what I had was the 5760x3240 image cut after it appeared (instead of just turning down the oppacity) and BG2 cut before it appeared, that way those images didn't overlap in the master sequence. With that, AME was able to render it just fine. So I have no idea why, but those 2 specific images won't let my sequence render when they ocuppy the same time. Any ideas?

  • Make a video smaller within iMovie (not resize for export)

I am trying to fit a clip within another clip which has chroma keying. Video "A" is a video clip of people watching a TV screen. The screen portion of the TV has been chroma-keyed. Video "B" is the actual footage of the event. I want to fit video B within the simulated TV screen in video A. I know that Premier can resize videos but I am not sure if you can do that on iMovie.
    Thanks,
    FG

FinalCutExpress would allow that too, incl. making the insert perspective..
    ok, iM:
    no.
    but a workaround... :
    • create in any paint-app a black.jpeg (or any other color)
    • add that to a new project
    • add your 'TV signal' as pic-in-pic
    • re-size * that … => now, your TV-signal is in right place and right size ..
    • export project, re-import to your original project, use Greenbox to 'overlay' ..
to * find the right position, export a freeze from your original project to your paint app, add 'markers' ..
re-reading this let me assume, I should illustrate that .. I'll be back in a minute ..

  • IPhoto 9.2.3/Lion will not let me export my library.

    Hello all,
I am running the latest version of iPhoto (9.2.3) on Mac OSX Lion 10.7.4.
When I try to export my photo library, I eventually get an error approximately half-way through the export that "Cannot create...."
I have tried changing the format (Original, Current, etc.) as well as the scheme (Numbered, File Name, Album Name, etc.) and it has made no difference.
I have also tried rebuilding the iPhoto library and repairing permissions, it has made no difference.
Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, how did you fix it? I am fit to be tied with iPhoto, this has been going on for nearly three days and I am still nowhere closer to a fix. Please help if you can, thanks.
    John

That's not the latest version if iPhoto. But I would be sure to fix this before updating.
This 'Cannot create...' error can be down to a number of things, but the two most commn are:
    1. Trying to export to somewhere that cannot deal with the amount of data your exporting. For instance to the top level of a FAT drive or an overcrowded disk. So, where are you exporting to?
    2. Corruption in the Library: can you view all the photos at full size?

  • Logic8 will not let me Export Audio to Movie

So...I have had another weird one.
Normally (in LP7) when I am working with a movie file that has audio attached to it and I want to Export Audio to Movie, Logic brings up a screen before it bounces which shows me what audio is currently attached to the movie and gives me the option to exclude or include that audio in the bounce. Since going 8 that window does not show up. Ever. Logic mixes what I want to bounce with what is already on the movie.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    I've solved my problem!
    First I tried to export audio to a "Apple Motion JPEG A, 768 x 576, 16,7 Mill." Movie - that doesn't work! After converting the reels to "H.264 Decoder, 720 x 480 (853 x 480), 16,7 Mill." - exporting works as before :o))
    Try it...

  • Since upgrading to Lion I have Quicktime problems, it will not let me export files to iTunes, it is telling me file maybe damaged this is with wmv and quicktime formats, I also have problems with quicktime freezing and no sound on some files

    Anyone got any ideas?

OK, I did as you suggested, the first step didn't seem to do anything, I selected to download it said immediatly "thankyou for downloading" but didn't ask permission as normal downloads do and it was also instantanious, no download time waited.
So I went onto the second step, downloaded and ran the free trial, showed lots of errors as I'd expect something selling a service to do. I have no idea what the registry does but am wary not to mess with it as if its damaged it makes things very very difficult. I don't know what to do with the results on that one. The messages all seem the same:
The Default Value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App paths/Your App exe contains an invalid path...etc and then goes on to specify a file or someters and numbers and semi colons. There are 388 like this. Again, I have no idea what to do with that information or how essential a registry clean is. About 5 years ago I had a Sony Ericsson mobile which would not transfer pictures to my computer. I called Sony up and they did a registry clean for me. It did nothing, I was still unable to transfer pictures and made a mental not to never ever get another Sony Ericsson handset. I can't help feeling a sense od deja-vu with this so am reluctant to do anything to the registry unless someone is there to pick up the peices on the other end as I can't just afford to go out purchase another computer hard drive.
Then I went back, re-downloaded the itunes again, this time it did actually try to download something.
    I got an error message:
Error writing to file: C:/Config.Msi\2b8263.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory
To which I said I did and to "retry"
It seemed to download fine! I have no idea what was different this time. Nothing I did was any different other then going from your link rather then the pop-up link I normally get. Maybe its just better to use a different link?
    Thanks again!

  • IMovie won't let me export in HD

I imported an MP4 into iMovie, set the project preference to 16:9 and it still won't let me export the movie in anything but the "tiny and mobile" options.  The "medium, large and HD" options are greyed out.
What could be the problem?  thanks

After hours of searching through forums I have found the solution to our problem.
iPhone 4s video is automatically shot in HD. There is no way to turn this off.
In iMovie Version 9.0.4 iLife '11 you can set your project properties  (File>Project Properties) to either either 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 standard.
Now HD is specifically widescreen and you can not create HD video in a 4:3 screen ratio. This is what my project was set to after spending over 16 hours working.
Once I change the ratio I was able to share and export my project in 720P and 1080P HD
You will have to tweak your project a little as when I went from 4:3 to 16:9 it cropped some of my video weird.
I hope this helped you as I am thoroughly relieved to have figured this out and slightly proud that I did it on my own.

  • IMovie Won't Let Me Export?

    Hello!
My iMovie won't let me export in HD (1080p or 720p), which has proved to be very frustrating.
    It first starts exporting:
but then after a few minutes, a message comes up:
What do I do? I've spent ages on this video, and it's really irritating, for me to start it all over again! I've updated all of my software, checked the App store for updates for iMovie, but there's nothing! What do I do???? GAH!!
Please help! Thanks in advance! Thank you!

I have the same problem and then some. I movie won't share this particular project, but it also won't save any changes made to it or any other project. At least that's what it started doing, now when I go to even try to make any changes it wigs out and things get scrambled in the Project window and it plays video from another project.
When I create a new project, the Share menu is available, but it won't save changes to that project either. And by that I mean I can put stuff in the project and do whatever, but as soon as I quit and relaunch the application, the project is empty. I did figure out that if I make changes in a new project and immediately share it to the media browser that it will save the changes, but then it messes up my other project even more somehow!
Tried archive and install, deleting plists, reinstalling iMovie and iLife support stuff (twice), repairing permissions, and changing permissions in the project package. Any other ideas?

Lion should still be available if you call the online Apple Store. If the Apple Store still has it, they will ask for your Apple ID and credit card number and will then send you a code which you can redeem in the Mac App Store. The Lion installer will download and run automatically.
Confirm compatibility with your current applications and Lion before you upgrade; in particular you will not be able to run any appications that were written only for PowerPC Macs.
