IMovie put into iWeb page

Very frustrated. *Roddy and Old Toad*: I like your outlines for getting video onto a webpage, but even though I follow your diretions, nothing seems to work. *Old Toad*, you have those family montages on your site and I LOVE THAT! Help me get those onto my site!
I am looking to put an iPhoto slideshow, that I had sent to iMovie for editing for iDVD, into a webpage in iWeb. I'm doing this as an example of some work that I can do for people (photo montages). Is there any way to get this onto the site so that both PC and Mac users can see this without having an issue?
Please keep in mind, I need step-by-step direction on this....baby steps.
Someone, please help!

Were you able to get the QT Movie w/o QuickTime to work on the PC? This was an experiment to see if the concept which works with mp3 files would work with a QT movie file. I'm told by QuicktimeKirk that it won't work with Vista. Are you running Vista on the PC at work?
Since I don't have a PC available (I consider myself lucky ) I've not been able to check to see if the QT Movie w/o Quicktime method works as hoped. It might not.
The only sure way to get your movies out to all would be to convert them to flash. Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site has good info on that: http://roddymckay.com/VisualMedia/FlashVideo.html
Another good source of information is http://iwebfaq.org
The movie with the family walking was created with an iFrame. I uploaded the movie to the Movies folder on my iDisk and use the following code in an HTML Snippet:
<iframe src="http://homepage.mac.com/MMe_Account/.Movies/QTfile.mov"
style="width:870px; height:500px";
scrolling="no" controller="true" frameborder="0";</iframe>

  • How can I export iDVD into iWeb Page?

I made a short DVD by sending iPhoto pictures to iDVD. Everything works fine: music, captions etc., but I cannot get it into my iWeb page. Is there any way now to export it to iMovie so iWeb can take it?
    Frank

    Frank:
You need to export the slideshow from iPhoto to a Quicktime movie and then add that movie to iWeb. Did you export just the photos and add the music, captions, etc there?
There are a couple of ways to add a movie to iWeb and avoid having the movie load while the page is loading: 1 - QT movies; 2 - Opening Movie in New, Specially Sized Window.
The key is toexport out of iPhoto as a QT movie.

  • How to put some iWeb pages onto my Blogger blog?

    I am using iWeb '09, 3.0.3 (501)
There are two pages on my website that I would like to put on my personal Blogger blog. The iWeb page has a hyperlink that opens up another page. That first page also has some lightning flashes behind the old haunted mansion. (The URL links to those pages are below.)
I would like to somehow get the HTML of the first page and the page that comes up when a person clicks "Enter."
*Please, how can I do it? Theoretically, I see that if I can get the page into HTML and then paste that HTML into a Blogger page, then I can get the page. But how do I get the HTML from my iWeb page?*
    The page is here: http://web.mac.com/lorna6/Websiteof_Lorna_Alexander/TheyreAlive.html
The page that comes up when a viewer clicks the "Enter" link is here: http://web.mac.com/lorna6/Websiteof_Lorna_Alexander/OldMansion.html
Also, the link on the Index page is here: http://web.mac.com/lorna6/Websiteof_Lorna_Alexander/SITEMENU.html
and I want to put that into a gadget in the sidebar of my Blogger blog. How to do it?
The story that I had earlier intended to put into this website is now going to be in my blog.
    -L

As iWeb only creates the html pages upon publishing you need to publish your site from iWeb to your desktop and it will then appear in your site folder. Double click one of the pages in your site folder and Safari will open it.
To get the html, you can either open the page in Safari and click on View Source and copy the code from here or you can download a text editor such as TextWrangler and open your html page with TextWrangler and copy the code from here.
iWeb code it quite messy so copying and pasting it to your Blog might not work that well - it can be done in iWeb, but not sure about Blogger?

  • Adding photoshop .gif animation files into iweb page?

I recently learned how to do some simple animation in Photoshop. I can save the files as a .gif or a .htlm file. Does anyone know how to load them into a page so the animation plays on a loop like it is suppose to?

Hello thanks for the suggestion but if you do this it crashes iWeb, one of the post I read before posting said this, and I tried it and for some reason it does crash (spinning wheel just hangs)

  • Can I change the frame/picture that is shown for a movie put into iWeb?

I have a transitions (fading in from black) in a movie that I brought into an iWeb page. The picture on the iWeb page is completely black, since that is the first frame of the movie. Is there a way to change this so I can select another frame to be the one that shows up on the web page for the movie (so I can choose one with people, for example, instead of it just being a black box)? Thanks-

Select the movie by clicking once upon it and, in iWeb Inspector's QuickTime pane, try adjusting the +Poster Frame+ slider.

  • Embed video into iweb page

Is there any way to embed video into my iWeb page without making an external HTML file?
    Thanks.

QuickTime Media Link format. One of mine as an example:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/.Public/wwdc_keynote.qtl
They are text based files that download when clicked so there is no need for any addition html code to open a new page.

  • Meta Tags:  How to Paste into iWeb pages?

I created Meta Tags on Go Daddy. I'm not really sure what Meta Tags are, but I understand they help my web site with keywords and search engines. Here's the Meta Tag codes I created (appears to be three codes).
<title>Dana Point Bodycentre for gift certificates massage skin care body treatments</title>
<meta name="description" content="Dana Point Bodycentre offers gift certificates, gift centre, day spa services for massage, skin care, body care, body treatments, medical skin care, botox, laser hair removal, med spa services and specials">
<meta name="keywords" content="Dana Point, Bodycentre, massage, skin care, gift ideas, gift certificates, gift centre, holiday, specials, book online, instant gift certificates, botox, medical skin care, laser hair removal, med spa, therapist, boutique, retail">
Go Daddy says to "paste the Meta Tag into the Header of my page." I don't understand what they mean by that. I asked them for more help, but they won't help me any further. I need to know exactly where to paste these codes? I created these codes for my Home page, so I suppose the codes go into the .HTML file, or the .file for the web folder. But where? On the .HTML file, when I open it up in Text Wrangler, I see a lengthy text of codes. Where do I paste these codes? And what is the "header" of my page mean?

NOTE 1: about Meta-Tags and Search engine optimization:
Some time ago you could "feed" search engines with words by putting them in the meta tags. Nowadays search engines ignore those tags (probably due to spamming) and only look at the content.
I never did any Meta Tags and it seems to me that my site works fine without Meta Tags on google... Google include PageTitle and PageContent and it works great without any optimisation. Another issue with Meta Tags on iWeb now is that if I publish to a folder I can add MetaTags with text editor but next time I publish to a folder iWeb will overwrite that file and Meta Tags are gone... I then would have to make them all over again... Time... Time... Time...
Bottom line: I see no need for Meta Tags
But people reading this... You're free to decide by your own... it's up to you...
    *5 TIPS:*
    -Update your sitemaps
-Make a second nav bar made of text links as previously explained
-Further use synonyms in your content. Write your content so that it fits as good as possible everything a 'googler' could search for.
-Search engines don't look for tags, they look for the content of your pages.
-In the end it’s all about three things: Content, Content and Content

  • Embedding scripts into iWeb pages (v 1.2.2)

Quick question: How do I embed scripts into a iWeb blog page? I'm trying to embed this script...
    <script src="http://www.konami.jp/gs/kojimapro/mgs4bp/blogpartsen.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
If you can explain an easy way to do it I'd appreciate it very much, thanks
    using iWeb 1.2.2

Someone posted this in a forum thread:
You can use a .js file in iWeb. The way I prefer doing it is creating an unadvertised/linked page on your site (named "javascripts", for example), and dragging the script onto that page. Then, on any other page containing the HTML to call the js, point it to ../javascripts_files/filename.js (in keeping with my example page name).

It's not very clear what you expect to happen when someone goes to the site. Are you supposed to see the "front" page and then click on something to go to the "back" page? If so, there needs to be a hyperlink added to the front page. If you will clarify this perhaps someone can help.

  • Inserting Google map into iweb page

    Hello
I have just bought iWeb 2, and used it to start a website at http://web.mac.com/peterdewit/toymaker/Home.html. (it comes up if you leave the end bit off!)
I followed what seemed to be incredibly simple instructions to create a Google map. It looked so easy I thought it was too good to be true. Unfortunately that turned out to be the case!
After more than one hour I gave up. A map of 1 Infinite Loop Cupertino California was determined to remain as the star attraction of my Location page. Even my wooden Royal Danish Life Guard and Grenadier Guards Drum Major couldn't remove it!
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
    Any help gratefully accepted.

    Here's a wild guess...
Sometime ago, I read in this forum about somebody having problems with the default email address used by iWeb for the "email me" button. It seems to get this from your personal information in "Address Book" which you filled in when you first opened the application.
If you didn't do this, it is probably still using the Apple Computer Inc. information.
Try trashing the Apple entry and make sure your own "user" one is up to date with your correct address, email etc.
I hope this helps - I DID say it was a wild guess!

  • Possible? Recreate my original Homepage pages into iWeb but retain old URL?

I have Tiger in the box and still have to install it.
I just bought iLife '06 today and will install it after installing Tiger.
I already have a .Mac homepage up — created with Homepage Manager.
I am thinking now that I would like to recreate that original homepage but do it with iWeb.
How do I end up with my original homepage pages all re-done into iWeb templates but retain my original .Mac homepage URL? All my friends know that URL. Could someone please explain?
    — Lorna in Southern California

Well really it's not OR but AND. If you want to do away with your old >homepage-style pages and send people to your iWeb pages via the old URL, >then you must put the redirect on the old pages.
Or you could leave the old pages up but add a link that says "Here's my new homepage..." or something like that...
Hi... I see you live in Florida — and hope you are not in any of the traditional hurricane paths!
I think that I want to start copying/recreating my Homepage pages into iWeb pages and accept that I will have a new URL someday in the near future (because I intend to do the copying as fast as I can and not stop). I can send a notice out and change a few other things. However, I have questions for that interim time when I am working on the iWeb pages but not finished with them.
While I am working on iWeb pages, I am given a new URL, right? And thus, I would at that point have two URLs with .Mac. Is that possible? As I see it, the first URL would be the one I have now, which is the address of my present .Mac Homepage Manager Homepage. And the second URL, wouldn't it be the URL of the iWeb pages? That's possible???
I understand the concept of having a redirect page from my original Homepage ultimatly to the new iWeb page, but is it an automatic redirect or one which the viewer can activate if he wants to? I would not want a redirect page to quickly, blindly switch a visitor from the old Homepage to the new iWeb pages which are incomplete.
I don't understand the mechanics of URLs. I don't know what a Redirect Page looks like or how it works and I don't see how I could be working on my new iWeb pages with its new iWeb URL, all the while leaving my present Homepage alone, viewable by visitors with ITS OWN URL.
    [several minutes passed]
And now that I have sat here and thought for several minutes, it seems that the easiest thing to do would be to have no redirect page for a while. All that I ask in that case is: Is it possible to do that? Is it possible to have my old/present Homepage viewable while I am working on my iWeb pages?
I think I just solved one of my questions all by myself. If I begin to work on iWeb I will be given a new URL — an iWeb URL. Thus technically, when I Edit and Publish in iWeb, technically, people could view those pages, but chances are they will not if I don't announce the new iWeb URL to them. OK. I see......
I am asking all of this now because I am the type that needs to envision and understand a project from start to finish before I start. I do not like surprises — and cyber surprises have the ability to unsettle me.
Could someone please realign my erratic thoughts? Are my goals possible? Can I have my present .Mac Homepage Manager Homepage viewable and visitable while working away on copying them to my new iWeb site? (I bought iLife '06 yesterday and will install it and Tiger today. Tiger first and iWeb'06 second, as instructed.)

  • Iweb/iphoto: not able to put photos into iweb site unless named by me!

This is wierd, surely this cant be right. I am building a site in iweb. Sometimes I can drag the photo in no problem, to drop it on the page - any type page, doesnt have to be a Photo /Albums page.
But other times, only the name of the file and a box comes onto the page- no actual photo. Seems to be when the name of the photo file is from the camera, because photos named by me seem to be ok. (But not always! )
Other times, the photo I'm dragging just springs back.
Please can someone tell me what's happening and how to get round! Becuase I am stuck - I cant put the phtos I want into my website.
(I find iphoto pretty annoying anyway - I prefer the way I used to organise my phots on pc, more logical with me naming the folders. I get in such a muddle- it's so much easier to orgaise photo files in Finder, but they still end up messy in iphoto because it doesnt recocgnise the changes Ive just made with Finder! arrggghhhh!!!)

Have all your photos been taken with your camera, if so, they are all jpgs. You can take them from iphoto and place them on to the desktop into a folder. They should all work when you place them into iweb. I have been able to drag and drop illustrator files, photoshop files and jpgs, all which were photos in the first place. It shouldn't matter what they are.
The ones that don't work have you manipulated them in photoshop?

  • Putting a "Capture" Box Into iWeb

Is there any way to insert a "capture" box into an iWeb page?
What I mean by this is, a spot where someone can input information i.e. Name, Email, Phone Number etc. and hit submit and the information gets emailed to my account or into a database.
I'm not sure if iWeb has this capability, but I'm thinking it can be done by inserting an HTML Snippet of some sort?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can put a form into an HTML snippet but how you go about it depends on where you publish.
If you publish to a server that allows you to run scripts, you can set up form mail, a web email address and redirect this to your Mac Mail if required.
If you publish to MobileMe you need to use a service like Wufoo or Formlogix.

  • Integrating an interview into my iweb page

    Hi Guys,
Could anyone give me any ideas about how I could integrate an interview into my iweb site. It is a long text (currently in ms word format) w and so putting it as one continuous block on one of the iweb pages would just be too much I was thinking of some kind of pop-up windows (more PDF-ish?) with navigation arrows, but I can't seem to come up with anything.
Here's the site as it stands:

    Any tips please?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi QTK!
Just a quick question, where will the pdf document reside? Will it automatically copy the file into the folder of the published site?
