IMovie Titles

I am "captioning" a thirty minute movie recording. I am clipping the movie and adding Titles to act as captions. The one problem I'm having is that I have to adjust each and every Title every time I add them. I am changing the Title preset from 'fade in/out:Project Setting (.5s)' to 'Manual 0.0s.'
My question then: Is there a way, possibly in TERMINAL, to change the iMovie preset on the Titles browser?

Be sure that you are dragging the name of the title, ie. 'rolling credits' and not the text.

Tibetan character in iMovie titles not working.. :(

Mac OS X version 10.9.4
iMovie version 10.0.4
When i try to write a Tibetan character in iMovie titles which is in this case 2 letters on top of each other isn't coming out as it should be.
This is what I'm trying to write... for example: སློབ་གྲྭ Instead of getting that word (which means school) I get this: ས ླ ོ་ག ྲ ྭ
It does work when i use the first two rows of iMovie titles but the rest like the 'Scrolling credits' and the newest titles aren't working.
Can somebody please help me with this issue?
(If you want to see the problem by yourself, you can copy the first characters above and it'll look like the second one which is unreadable.)
If you can help me with this problem it would mean the world to me.
By the way, I already went to the Apple store and called the support telephone but no one could help me there.
I have been waiting for the newest update before i post this but the new update didn't do anything about my issue with the iMovie titles.
I really hope someone will write me and help me out.

I'm using the Tibetan QWERTY board...same as the one in iPhone i guess..?
when i check on the Tibetan keyboard on mac, and choose the middle one from the 3keyboards which normally works perfect on iMac Doesn't work that well anymore..(it comes out like the 2nd character above)

Foreign language fonts for iMovie title pages and captions

I would like to write title pages and captions i iMovie in the Polish language.
Typically, characters that are specific to the Polish language are entered by using the alt key and the letter that is to be accented. This doesn't seem to work in iMovie.
How can these special accented letters be entered in iMovie title pages and captions?

Did you go to system preferences/language & text/input sources and check the box for the Polish keyboard layout, and then select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder? Which key does what can be seen using Keyboard Viewer.
Try Lucida Grande if the font does not have the necessary characters.

Removing Geotag from iMovie Title

How do you remove the geotag from the iMovie title? I want to use a photo that does not have an accurate geotag as the first item in my movie. I can't edit the geotag in the title and I can't find the setting to remove the geotag from my title. I have tried to change the geotag in iPhoto to an accurate location but that does not appear to work. I am using iMovie 10 and iPhoto 9. The geotag says South Atlantic Ocean when, in actuality, it's Durango, Co. VERY annoying. Any ideas?

I had the same problem. Click on the title in your timeline. Then click on the T in the picture viewer area. Underneath the toolbar a little world icon will appear. Click on this and it will give you the option of where to set the geotag title (including none).

How to I reuse Old iMovie titles as a signature closing credit?

All I can find in iMovie Help is to reuse last title created. I would like to reuse an old title created previously. When I cut and paste it from previous projects however, it always distorts, drops the text, or doesn''t include the proper disolve. (My name changes into my website address.) I cannot locate the supposed blue Text bar to copy just that. One time when I cut and pasted from an old project, it actually gave me the inverse of what I wanted (address to name) instead. Surely, there must be a way to save and reuse a closing credit title? Right now, I've restorted recreating it new for every film clip I produce! Thanks for help.

As you've found out, cutting and pasting doesn't work so well in iMovie.
(For what it's worth, it works much better in Final Cut Pro X)
If you want to use the exact same title sequence in another project here's something you might try:
First, duplicate using File>Duplicate.
In the duplicate project, cut out everything except the title sequence you want. Now Share>Export the project and then import it as a new event.
Now you can add it to your new project and any others you'd like to.

How to change font in imovie title

I have put some titles in my iMovie and cannot change the font. I click on the Title and the font fetures are not active, so it remains the default font.

I was struggling with changing fonts too -- then I used "Upper" which can be changed and Simply copy and paste it into any other style of title.
IT WORKS! (what a hack)

IMovie Titles Don't Fit on TV

Often, when I create a title in iMovie, the width of the title does not fit the TV screen (it is too wide) when I burn it to DVD. However, I don't know that until the DVD is burned.
For example, when I try to use the Music Video title, which is justified left, the left side of the title is cut off after I burn the DVD. Also, the Show TV Safe Area option on iDVD does not help because that only applies to themes, etc and does not help me with titles in the middle of the film.
Is this just my TV? I have not tried it on others. If not, is there some way I can detect in either iMovie or iDVD whether the titles will fit?

How do I drag iMovie titles?

I'm using Imovie 5.0.2, and I really like it, but I'm running into a simple problem.
The issue is, I can't figure out how to make titles appear over an image or clip in Imovie. I select the "Titles" category, choose the speed, type of title, font, content, etc, and it appears correctly in the preview, but when I preview the whole movie it doesn't appear. I've read in the discussion threads that I am supposed to "drag the title down to where I want it", but what is it that I am dragging?
If you could tell me that would help soo much. I just can't seem to figure it out!! Thanks

Imovie titles won't activate -- did before

The titles in imovie won't turn on -- they come up when i click on T but when I try and select a particular title nothing happens

To use a title, click and drag it and drop it on a clip in your project.

IMovie titles - drop shadow

I may be missing something really obvious, but i'm hoping for some help if there is an answer.
I simply do not want drop shadow on text when i make titles, i can not find a way to switch it off.
On a similer line, i have made simple graphic title pages up as jpg but when imported into iMovie (HD) they go blurry and look awfull. I have tried a multitued of file types and obviously bumbed the quality to 100% but no joy. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you a pleasure to be here although i am a little unsure how much i will be able to help other people. I quite recently switched to Mac and haven't really had many problems to solve. Why i bought a Mac really after coveting them for a few years and being stuck in windows ****.
Aaaanyways. You do make a very good point. However i don't actually edit for DVD very often, this is all for web and particuly when using white lettering on a background the text looks dirty as it fades in. The style i use is also very much in tune with the website i run, very bright and... blocky i guess is the closest i word i can find to describe. Very simplistic indeed. Orange and white are the clours of choice for the project i am on now.
As you say, drop shadow has its use and reasons for using, but right now i really don't want it and don't seem to have that option with iMovie. In fact the ONLY place WMM beats iMovie is on the titles front.
I appreciate it could be a case for stepping up to a higher end application but i am currently prohibited by cost and actually like working with a simplistic editor for now. Learning to walk before i run

How do I change the font color in my iMovie titles?

I have selected the title, and a color from the color wheel, but the titles remain white. What do I need to do?

There are only certain titles that have that SHOW FONTS button available. When you select one of those titles....highlight your text, then push that button...you'll get a pop-up window that will give you about 9 differnt font selection, the same about of color selections and then sizes from 1-9. You just move your cursor around as you move around the highlight text in your title will change to show you what it would look like if you clicked on that FONT, COLOR or SIZE.
If you don't like those you can click on the system font panel button in the lower left hand corner and go to town there...

There could be a missing component in Snow Leopard. I would try backing up your system to an external disk using a tool like Super Duper. Then reinstall Snow Leopard. Then use the Migration Utility to reinstall everything,

IMOVIE -TITLE SCREENS / SCROLLING CREDITS CUT OFF -

Hopefully someone out there knows how to fix this....A title in my video (scrolling edits, with names) cuts off at the bottom portion of the last name entered....The title is the exact length as the clip it corresponds to....What is making the bottom of each character cut off? ANY help greatly appreciated. Frustrating - as I'm done with the video but can't burn with this defect. Thanks in advance for guidance.

Hi Diana - there is no 'one-click' answer, but it is possible to almost do what you want.
1. Create a centred title (with the 'over black' box ticked, and set to its longest duration) with the words you want, and in the preview click on the words and drag them to the top of the window.
2. Trim off the ends of this clip to remove the fade-in/fade-out of the text.
3. Copy and Paste this clip as many times as needed for the scrolling (which you will now add to these clips).
4. Although you can now use the scrolling title option, its short-coming is that it will scroll over the title at the top of the page). In my experiment I used the Far Far Away title. Type in the cast etc, and choose a duration to last as long as your combined title clips. De-select 'over black', and apply this by dragging its blue 'T' to the front of the previously-created title clips.
5. It may be worth changing the colour of the scrolling text for added effect.
See how that goes. You will need to experiment. Make the whole thing longer than you at first imagine it needs to be, as the scrolling travels quite quickly otherwise.

IMovie Title Durations

Hi all,
When I try to put a title into my movie, the time the title is on the screen is about 3-4 second less than the title duration dictates. It's the same for every title, over black or over video. Anyone have this problem, or maybe, a solution?

Welcome to the discussions!
A titles total duration also includes the amount of time the title spends fading up and fading out.
Are you taking that into account when assessing your tiles duration?
