Impdp / SQLfile and parallel mode ?

Hi,
On 10g database we have a dump generated in parallel mode (parallel=8) and DUMPFILE=expdp_file%u.dat
Files are expdp_file01.dat, expdp_file02.dat, ... , expdp_file08.dat
I would like to retrieve all the grants in a sql file with this command :
impdp dba@mydatabase dumpfile=expdp_full%u.dat LOGFILE=impdp_gudb_test.log DIRECTORY=EXP_DIR sqlfile=grant.sql include=grant schemas=DBA parallel=8
Error occurs :
ORA-39002: invalid operation
ORA-39047: Jobs of type SQL_FILE cannot use multiple execution streams.
Is there another way to retrieve all the grant from a multipart dump ?
Thanks for help.
Regards,

Just leave the parallel=8 off. SQL file jobs can only run in serial mode. The export parallel does not have to match the import parallel, so just remove the parallel clause.

  • Can I use parallel and multiplexed mode?

    Hi,
    I have
a NI USB-6259 DAQ Module (Two Connectors with to Cables to two SCXI-1349, which connects the DAQ to the Chassis)
    a SCXI-1001 Chassis
3 SCXI-1143 8 Channel Low Pass Filter Modules
    and
    a SCXI-1180 Front End Plate
As the DAQ has 16 diff. AI Channels, I would like to drive two SCXI 1143 in multiplexed mode(connected to Connector 0 at USB-DAQ via SCXI 1349) and one in parallel mode assigned to AI 8-15 (Connected to Connector 1 at USB-DAQ via SCXI 1349) .
The configuration is approved by MAX
But when I run it with the software I get an error saying that a simultaneous scan is possible Error -223835. And that the selected channel is not in the task Error: -200486.
Can one DAQ device(like NI USB-6259) be assigned with Channels 0-7 in multiplexed mode (multiplexing two SCXI 1143 8 Channel) and the rest of the channels in parallel mode for on SCXI card? NI-USB 6259 has to separate connectors but is it still seen as one DAQ card?
What does the error say? I thought I configured for a simultaneous scan.
Attached to this post is a picture:
Top Left: Back view of my NI USB-6259
Top Right: Front view of my chassis with three SCXI 1143
Bottom: Back view of my chassis. Two SCXI 1249 are connected to two Cards. One card should be run in parallel mode, two in multiplexed mode.
    Cheers,
    Alex

    @ Lorenz-Mie
you are right that I need a new DAQ device, but as stated in the M-Series manual on page A-108:
"Use Connector 0 of  your M Series device to control SCXI. NI-DAQ 7.4
and later supports SCXI in parallel mode on Connector 1."
Thats what I've done. I'll keep on trying.

  • Parallel and multiplexed modes for SCXI...

I am having difficulty understanding how the Parallel and Multiplexed modes for SCXI modules work.  I've been trying to find one comprehensive document but have been unsuccessful.  Can you please help considering the following configurations:
    Single chassis, single module
    Single chassis, multiple modules
Multi-chassis, single module on each (I don't know when that would ever be used, but nevertheless...)
    Multi-chassis, multiple modules
Also I would appreciate it if you could mention when the DAQ device's onboard multiplexer is used, when the SCXI chassis/module/bus' multiplexer (I don't know where exactly the SCXI-based multiplexing occurs) is used, and when both are used.
    Thank you.

  • VMWare Fusion and Parallels Desktop Benchmark Comparison

This is a quickie benchmark of VMWare Fusion and Parallels Desktop using Super PI, PC Mark 05, and Passmark.
    VMWare Fusion 36932
    Parallels Desktop 3094 Beta 2
    Notes:
Both virtual machines were allocated with large 10+ GB virtual disks and 640MB of RAM. The VMWare CPU was configured with two processors. The Parallels CPU was configured with 1 (two is not available). VMWare reported the CPU as 1 physical, 2 logical processors running at 2.66 GHz while Parallels reported 1 physical, 1 logical processor running at 9.6 GHz (the combined speed of all four cores on the Mac Pro). The max observed CPU utilization in activity monitor when running under VMWare was 200% and max under Parallels was 173%.
I chose not to compare 1 VMWare CPU vs. 1 Parallels CPU. While Parallels does not support SMP or multithreaded processes on multiple processors the CPU utilization on the Mac went well above 1 core (173%). For this comparison, I wanted to see results of max processing based on what the two vendors have delivered, as opposed to benchmarking the underlying "virtual or hypervisor cpu" on a 1:1 basis. This explains why VMWare was 2x faster than Parallels on some CPU tests.
Both of these products are beta. VMWare is running in debug mode (can not be turned off in this beta).
Caveat emptor on these stats. This was an unscientific exercise to satisfy my curiosity. Some of the extraordinary differences are highlighted with <--.
    Platform:
Mac Pro 2.66 GHz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7300GT
    Disk 1 - OS X, 73GB Raptor
Disk 2 - dedicated disk where each virtual machine image was created separate from the OS or any OS-related virtual memory files.

Thanks for posting these numbers - it's an interesting comparison.
I would expect the final VMWare fusion performance numbers to be quite a bit better than that of Parallels - they have almost a decade's worth of experience more than the Parallels folks in this arena, and a much larger development team to boot.
Once VMWare Fusion is released to the public, I think that you'll see a clearer distinction between the two products. VMWare will continue to appeal to the professional customer, with a more robust feature set and corporate-friendly features (and a correspondingly higher price tag); Parallels will fall more into the consumer/VirtualPC-replacement market. It will be interesting to see how Parallels will be affected when (and if) VMWare player is ported to OS X.
Interesting about the Parallels performance stats on a native partition - looks like almost enough reason to avoid the bootcamp partition approach altogether. Sharing a native windows installation with a VM in parallels is a pretty scary situation in any case, as the two environments have entirely different hardware configurations. Do-able, but there is some black magic involved (if you want to see an example of what I mean, try to move a windows installation from one machine to another w/different hardware sometime - it ain't pretty); I wouldn't try this in a production scheme unless I had REALLY good backups.

  • VM Fusion and Parallels and even a Boot Camp question

I have both Fusion and Parallels installed and have a question about how Windows is displayed .
with Parallels, I get the usual Windows desktop and with Fusion I get a "menu" for navagating to different areas/programs/settings
What can I do to get Fusion to display the Windows desktop as Parallels does? I haven't used either enough to know which I prefer, but I can tell you one thing, I immediately disabled the internet connection for both. There is NO WAY I would ever connect to the 'net in Windows.
I actually think that after I get Leopard I will try installing Boot Camp just for comparisons sake. I will have to "slipstream" a disk with XP to include SP2, but the directions are pretty clear, if I read them really slowly.
I'd really like to hear from someone who has successfully "slipstreamed" a disk.
    thanks

Sounds like you were using Fusion's Coherence mode to launch individual applications which some people prefer. But you should have first had Windows desktop.

  • How to call a method in parallel mode

    Hi,
I have a web application (ADF/JSF/EJB3) developed under jdev 11g
I need to call a method in my backing bean but in parallel mode.
The idea is that when the user click on a button to compute something i do not want the user to wait untill the process is finished.
    e.g.
    public String doSomeAction(){
    callMethodXY();
    return null;
I do not want to wait until callMethodXY is finished to continue with my process.
I just want to call it in parallel and continue working normally.
    Which is the best approach.
    Regards,
    Emile

    Emile,
No, not my opinion at all. I was simply stating a fact that if you do this in another thread, you must not access FacesContext nor the binding container from that other thread - it's a technical limitation. If you have something that needs doing in the background, then a thread is a fine way to do it.

  • How to handle runtime error in PreUUT step when running in Parallel mode

I would like to run Test UUTS in parallel mode, and some actions are done in PreUUT such like read serial number and fixture control.
The process model won't goto PostUUT Step when runtime error occurs in PreUUT step, so i would like to add some actions to check if sequence error in cleanup and go back to setup in PreUUT step, but i find it skip all the actions in setup and main step?
What should i do if i want to go back to run PreUUT again as the first time to run when runtime error occurs?
Or, is there any good way to handle this kind of error withour restart program?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This question does not depend on PreUUT or ParallelModel at all.
    First of all:
A Runtime Error is a situation where TestStand encounters a problem which makes further testing either impossible or senseless. So a Runtime Error always indicates a situation where proceeding the test sequence is not recommended.
Nevertheless, there are situation where you want to handle those errors without stopping the execution. A "traditional example" for this is initialising serial/GPIB devices. If the device does not reply, there might be different issues the operator can easily resolve and (if corrected) the sequence can proceed properly. The operators action could be:
    - Check if device is switched on
    - Check connection between PC and device
So the error state is used to inform the operator about the malfunctioning device and regarding of the actions the operator takes, the execution will either proceed or terminate.
When TestStand encounters a Runtime Error, it initially reacts with displaying a dialog. This behavior can be modified in the Station Options >> Preferences >> On Runtime Error.
Furthermore, you can install callback sequences which are called if an error occurs. Those would be either SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError or ProcessModelPostStepRuntimeError (depending on the fact if you are changing the process model or simply working with client sequence file callback overrides). These are "normal" sequences you can use in order to get system information, loop on the step or....essentially do whatever you want. If you want to proceed though, you must not forget to reset the error flag.
    hope this helps,

  • Using SCXI-1520 in Parallel Mode.

    Hi all,
I am using SCXI-1000 chassis and PCI-1024E DAQ card.
I want to use my SCXI-1520 in Parallel mode.
Is there any other way to configure my 1520 in parallel mode other than directly connecting to DAQ board using SCXI-1180 feed through panel and SCXi-1302?
Some of my friends are telling that there are some Patch files, through which we can use the scxi-1520 in parallel mode. Is it true? If it is true please give me how use the Patch files( or alternative solutions).
    Thanq
    Regards
    Preetam

    Preetam,
As explained in the SCXI-1520 user manual, Traditional NI-DAQ does not support true parallel mode operation of the SCXI-1520. However, NI-DAQmx does. I would recommend installing NI-DAQ 7.2, which includes the latest version of both Traditional NI-DAQ and NI-DAQmx. Then you can use the NI-DAQmx driver to control your SCXI-1520 in parallel mode. To configure the SCXI-1520 in parallel mode with NI-DAQmx, simply select the Parallel Mode check box when setting up your chassis and modules in MAX. I hope this information helps.

  • 10.5.3 and parallels video sync issues

My video in my virtual XP now gets all fuzzy and chops in and out, until I reset the window size (by dragging or using the contoll panel and changing the size 1280x1024, etc, etc). The screen calms down, but eventually because of moving in/out of the virt to the osx side, the video takes a hit and starts buzzing and individual elements of the windows gui (for instance, the start bar only) start flashing in and out. Again, until I force a screen re-sync by changing the size. I own fusion and parallels and am in the process of migrating my parallels to fusion via the convertor tool. Too much set up in the my xp to just try re-starting. I did however, for testing, create a NEW parallels virt, and install a fresh XP into it, SAME issue with the video, so then I did a linux, SAME issue.
10.5.3 has jacked up the video within parallels, I have checked both sites and not found mention of this yet, so here I am.
For reference, I run all my virts in windowed mode, not full screen.
    Anyone have any info? Thanks.
    SD

I know this is a pain in the butt, but I had to use my Virt to get work done, and cant waste the time to reboot, reboot, etc, etc.
Heres a temp fix, possibly a full time one for you all, Download the Demo of VMWARE's Fusion (vmware has been around 10 times longer than Parallels), and you can test it for a month free (possibly Parallels will have a fix by then), they also have a Fusion Migrator tool, its also free, so I downloaded fusion with a test key, and the convertor, ran it, it converted my parallels to a fusion vert (leaving my parallels alone until they can release a fix) and made a duplicate of it (disk space is the only requirement) that loads in fusion.
Now I enjoy some of the features parallels uses, mostly the mapping of my windows My Documents to my Mac Documents, something fusion doesn't do, but can manually be done.
BUT to my surprise, fusion has 3d graphic support, as well as dual core emulation for the virt (which means you can turn it off, make it use 1 core) and get a better equal virt / OSX performance.
I hate to sound like a sales person, but if you need to work today, heres a free solution, I might just stay with fusion since I can play games I had to previously boot camp to use.
Lets hope a fix comes out, but its been nice to know about the graphics. I just created a small 5 gig xp install, for gaming only, running it on firewire 800 disk space, and I CANT BELIEVE the performance while being hosted from firewire, no lag that I thought the I/O would have running from a external disk.
Anyways, hope that helps. When I find a fix for parallels I will post it, I tried rolling back 1 update on Parallels and it didn't fix it, unfortunately they don't let you download old revisions, maybe someone might have something older than 5584 cause it still is affected as well, 5584 and 5600 both are crippled by 10.5.3.
Sad thing is what does apple care that it made XP break on it. I hope they do care and attempt to help.

  • /sapapo/c5 transaction in parallel mode

    Hello All,
I just got a doubt regarding transaction /SAPAPO/C5. One of my coleague is saying we should not execute this program in parallel mode, he says it may create some inconsistency( he got info from one of SAP person ). Is it true?, does any body any Info about this?. Can we execute in parallel?.
Thanks for your help in Advance.
    Regards,
    Srini

    Hi Srini
As far as I know, I do not know the clear restriction on this. And  I know some customer who
    use parallel processing of /SAPAPO/C5.
(Off course, when you schedule C5 in parallel, each job should different orders. So you need to be careful about selection variant).

  • Is running CrossOver and Parallels on the same computer a bad idea?

I know one could ask, why do you need both? Well I already had Parallels on my MacBook and I like to support CrossOver, so I bought it for the iMac and I have been running MS Office 2000 on it.
Now I'm beginning to think I might want to switch my Parallels (XP Pro) over to my iMac, and I tried installing Parallels on my iMac but it seems to not run right. I put my XP Pro disk in to install and Parallels gets stuck in a Dos-like mode where all I see is the black startup screen with a "Boot from CD Drive" message and nothing happens at all from the XP CD. And also, it won't let me quit the virtual machine; I have to manually shut off the iMac, which I'm sure is not a good idea.
So I'm wondering if having CrossOver on my computer is causing the problem.
    I appreciate any assistance,...
    Many Thanks, ...Frank B.

The Parallels Boot Camp icon is the one you would use to create a virtual machine for Windows that has already been installed in Boot Camp. Also, when you create a virtual machine, if Windows is already installed in Boot Camp, Parallels will name the virtual machine "My Boot Camp" by default.
Boot Camp is not included with OS X, you have to download it from the Apple website. There are two versions, one for Windows XP and one for Windows Vista, so make sure you download the correct one.
You won't be able to use your Parallels for Windows license key to activate the Mac version, you'll have to buy a separate key for it. You can get a 15-day trial key if you've never used it before, so that will let you try it first before you decide if you want to buy it.

  • Running Audition 3.0 on Win7, alternating between BootCamp on Mac and Parallels cause re-activation

Can anyone or Adobe themselves give an explanation as to how Audition 3.0 (and perhaps Audition CS5.5) verifies the machine hardware that it is running on to ensure that the purchased software license is not being installed on multiple machines?
I ask because it would appear that Audition 3.0 (at least) views its installation on the same single Windows 7 image as being 2 separate PCs if the same Windows 7 is booted into parallels and then at others times into BootCamp.
Yes, yes I know I can get Audition CS5.5 natively for the Mac, but for now I wish to run Audition in Windows. So please avoid discussions on this and instead offer me some advice as to why/how Audition reads the hardware it is running on.
    The problem:
    - I boot into BootCamp Windows, Audition 3.0 runs OK.
    - Boot into MacOS, run same BootCamp VM Windows from parallels, run Audition 3.0, it runs asking for registratation. Registration succeeds.
    - Boot into BootCamp Windows, Audition 3.0 runs runs asking for registratation. Registration succeeds.
    And so on...
If I stick with one mode of running Windows, i.e. BootCamp OR via Parallels, Audition doesn't ask again, however, switching between the two triggers the re-registration.
Using the same VM/Windows install image/drive.
But I guess what is happening here is that the (virtual) "hardware" profile/signature/id presented to Windows/and 3rd-party applications, is different in BootCamp and Parallels and that applications such as Audition use this for authentication/registration to prove that the license is only running on the same hardware.
An ideal solution is that Parallels complies with the same hardware profile that BootCamp presents to Windows and 3rd party applications so that both Parallels and BootCamp are wholly seen as the same machine.
I've raised a support ticket with Parallels themselves.
I've posted on Parallels forum thread: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=103398
    awaiting moderation
But I also think Adobe could be a bit smarter as to how they detect that their software is running on the same machine that it is licensed for.

I think it's very, very unlikely that you'll get an answer to this. Simply because to answer it is an out-and-out invitation to hackers. All I can tell you is that each copy of Audition will allow two installations, but only on different hardware, and that you aren't strictly allowed to use them concurrently. The intention is that you can have one install on a desktop, and another on a laptop. Any conjecture that you might make about this may or may not be true - even if you guess correctly though, I doubt whether you could easily do anything about it. The only thing that Adobe are going to do is to offer to sell you another seat, I guess - that way you could have three installs. But requests for further information are almost certainly going to fall on deaf ears.

  • Concurrent Bootcamp and Parallels???

I have a 17” MacBook Pro and am a diehard Mac fan. However, there are a few Windows programs that I need to run at home, so I set up another login ID and added Parallels Desktop 4.0, along with Windows XP and the few Windows programs I need, to that new login account (ie, distinct from my primary Mac account that I do all of my Mac work out of). This setup works great.
    Three Questions:
    1) Is there any advantage to run Parallels in that separate account, or should I just consolidate Parallels into my primary account? I set up the separate account for Parallels thinking that it would keep my primary account “safer” and “more stable”, but perhaps I am completely wrong.
I now need to add a program for work that involves remote access to work computers via PC software.
    2) Is there an advantage to set this up to run in Boot Camp (rather than Parallels)? I am assuming that it will run faster there. Also, will this keep the rest of my Mac safer than if I run it in Parallels?
    3) If I set my work PC program to run in Boot Camp, will my personal Parallels programs in the separate Mac login account still run fine, or will they somehow conflict with each other?
Sorry for such basic questions, but any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much!

There's absolutly no need to set up a separate account. The parallels partition is seen like a document by MacOS that you can copy paste, save with Time machine...
Also, when it is into your primary account, you can put some windows apps in your dock !
Me, I've only assigned Parallels to a space in MacOS. By this way, when I launch Parallels, I go automatically to space 2, and go back to Mac by alt-tab.
You can also use the Coherence mode, and put the Windows bar on the top. By this way, you will have to 2 bars together : amazing !!
The difference with BootCamp is mainly that
    - Yes : Boot Camp makes your Mac a real PC : better speed. In My iMac 2,4 Ghz, XP is reaaaaally fast !
    - For games and Flash : some flash games doesn't run on Parallels. With BootCamp, you run everything. Genrally speaking, when you have animations, BC is better
    - When you use BootCamp, you use all your RAM : in Parallels, you share it with MacOS. For that reason, it's better to have 4 Go RAM to run Parrallels. More RAM = more speed, but 4 Go is the best approach. Note that, before adding RAM, I was using 1 Go RAM, so 512 for Parallels (with XP !! forget about Vista), and it was OK for standard needs.
But now, with, 4 Go, I can run XP, MacOS, and some Unix apps, such as Gimp with X11.
The only safe action that you have to take is ... install a antivirus on your PC partition !! (antivir is free and well noted)
Finally, I kept to 2 options : I have BoootCamp and Parallels, but Parallels is really comfortable

  • Use DAQ in Parallel Mode

Is there any issues using a DAC card (M-Series) in TestStand in Parallel Mode?  I would like to have 4 instances running in parallel all using ine DAC card.  Of course, each instance would be using separate channels.  How would you create the reference to the DAC card?  I assumed that one insides could open the DACCA card but could be a race conditon.

The M series cards (if I remember correctly) only have one clock for input and one for output.  This means that you can only do one operation at a time on the device, even if it has multiple channels.  If you are doing a true parallel test (rather than a batch test), I would recommend using a Lock in TestStand on the card so that only one UUT tries to access the device at a time.  If you are using Batch, you can use the same setup, or have a "worker" thread that does the DAQ operations and then sends the data to each thread using a Notifier.  Depending on how long you are using the card, this may be more trouble than just doing it independently and using locks.
