Implementing Currency Translation in BPS Layout

Hi,
I came to know that Currency translation is a very big task in BPS.  Currently we are using the Web layout.   We have a data in BPS table of different currencies.  But how can we show the data in the Layout with the local currency of the user.
When the user seeing the Layout it should be he local currency i.e EURO what ever may the the actual data currency.  And after changing the data in the layout it should get updated into the actual data currency not on the layout currency.
We need to see the currency only in the layout for local currency.
Please help me in this regard.  By using fox formulas i can change the entire data in the cube which should not happend
Please guide me
Thanks
Naveen

Naveen,
Currency translation at run times in BPS can become highly time and resource consuming. It not only impacts performance but can also lead to timeout if you are accessing the layout via web.
What we have done to address these situations, is to basically have the data stored in 2 currencies. The users would always see the data in their local currency.
We created a custom save button which would execute a planning sequence, which saves the data first and then converts it to a global currency in the background. This gave us the flexibility to report in both local and global currencies as well as enable the users to input data in their local currencies.
Hope this helps.

  • BPS Currency Translation with rate from previous year

    Dear All,
I am trying to use the BPS currency translation function. However, I would like to use an exchange rate from the previous fiscal year, in order to reveal currency effects.
I would appreciate any help, hopefully regarding ways to mend the standard function. I am afraid a workaround with the FM CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY would end up in a giant crutch.
    Thank you in advance,
    Lars Biederstedt

Thank you for your answer, Marc.
I would definitely like to know more about option 1.
Option 2, a fixed data, would not work, because data had to be translated monthly, with the exchange rate from exactly one year ago. I was really surprised, that you could not enter a variable as a time reference and use offsets, like you can in queries.
I ended up using an Exit-Function with the function module convert_to_foreign_currency. Unfortunately you cannot change characteristic values with Exit-Function, so I have to repost after every currency translation.
    Anyway, it works.
    Best regards,
    Lars

  • How is Currency Translation Adjustment Implemented?

    Hi,
How is currency translation adjustment implemented in SAP BPC 10.0? Is there any Business rule for it?
    Sincerely,
    Nicky

    Hi Nicky,
Currency Translation is maintained from currency translation business rules from web client.
You should enter your input from LC(Local currency) member of rate type dimension in the planning model. Then should create a data package which uses sap given currency translation process chain.
Also you should maintain rates in rate type model which is used by planning model.
According to the rates you have maintained in rate model, running data package in planning model will calculate from LC to the target currency(USD, EUR etc.)
You maintain the target currency to be calculated in entity type dimension's FX property in the planning model. Also you should maintain RATETYPE property in the account type dimension of planning model as AVG or CLO for P&L and Assets-Liabilities-Equity members respectively,
Maintain your package's logic script file as SAP standard process chain required.
    Hope these helps,
    Thanks,

  • SEM 4.0 - BPS Planning Function - Currency Translation (Account Based) !

    Hi,
Currently we are migrating from SEM 3.1 to SEM 4.0  and we are using Currency Translation (Account Based)and would like to use the same functionality, but for some reason the CT functionality is not working properly.  It is throwing garbage numbers in SEM 4.0.
Is anyone out there facing similar problem on the Currency Translation (Account Based) functionality on SEM 4.0.  Appreciate your help.
    Thx,
    Jay

    Hi,
We are working on Integrated Planning(IP). We are currently using a key figure based model, where in we have 0amount, 0amocac and 0amoccc for transactional currency, controllling area currency and object currency amounts.
If we go with account based model for keyfigures, i.e by taking currency type as 00, 20, 10 , we have a problem with the currency translation functions.
Could you please let us know, how we can handle currency translation with the account based model?
    Thanks,
    Srini.

  • CRM fields not populating in BPS layout for opportunity Planning 0crm_order

    Hello Support,
We are using SAP CRM 5.0 SP09 with BW 7.0 SP 09.
When creating an opportunity in CRM, the product data ( quantity ,
values) are not appearing in Planning tab( SEM-BPS Layout) .
Kindly let us know what needs to be done to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and regards,
    Rajiv Jain

In your CRM system, check your mapping from CRM to BW are correct.
You can do this in transaction SPRO. Menu path 'SAP Implementation Guide --> Integration with other mySAP components --> SEM --> Change mapping between CRM fields and InfoObjects'. Select planning application 'OPP' and click on 'Mapping table - system entries' on the left.
In here you should see the mapping from the InfoObject to the CRM field (eg. Infoobject 0CRM_EXPREV uses structure CRM_BW_OPPT_H and field name EXP_REVENUE).
In order for the value to be passed to planning you must tick the 'Empty' checkbox on.

  • Use of BAdi UC_CTR_XRPROC in Currency Translation

    Hi All,
Has anyone experience of the BAdi for determining Exchange Rate in BCS?
In BCS you have the option of customising the Procedure for Exchange Rate Determination by using a Badi, my current client has configured a custom one but I can't view the configuration (due to authorisation frustrations), so I can see that something has been selected but can't see what it is.
Selected Info from SAP BCS help:
You can create additional procedures for exchange rate determination in the customer namespace. The custom procedures, along with the standard procedures, are offered for selection in Customizing of currency translation methods.
If you specify a parameter when creating a procedure for exchange rate determination, this parameter is also offered for selection when the procedure is listed.
At the time of execution, whenever a custom procedure for exchange rate determination is encountered, the system calls the Business Add-In for exchange rate determination ( UC_CTR_XRPROC). There you can freely determine the exchange rate for each data record being translated.
    Also:
The E/R determination procedure is the second-last step for determining the value in target currency. (The last step is the currency translation procedure, for which there is also another Business Add-In, UC_CTR_CTPROC.) At this point, the data records to be translated are accessible, and the date of exchange rate determination is known.
All help will be much appreciated

    Thanks Eugene,
it appears to have been implemented at one of my current clients but I can't work out what it's doing.
An old, incomplete configuration document indicates that they were trying to stop the GC figure being updated unless Currency Translation Indicator <> 0 (ie RFD record is not updated by Currency Translation task, GC values are only posted to new records with CT Indicator >0)

  • Currency Translation with a Calculate Key Figure

    Hi,
Does anyone have experience with applying currency translation in BEX/Query Designer on a Calculated Key Figure?
I have a need for a calculated key figure to be converted to a target currency of USD (which is already defined via RRC1).  I also need the Results Row to display the summation in USD.
Currently, my calculated key figure displays two currencies (MYR and USD) and an incorrect summation of both currencies.
Here is how I have defined my calculated key figure:
    NODIM ( 'Consumption (STOs)' ) * NDIV0 ( 'Material Source Plant Cost' / NODIM ( 'Source Plant Price Unit' ) )
I am multiplying a quantity field by amount field and then dividing by a price per unit field.  I have applied NODIM on the other fields so that the amount field will retain it's properties.
Running this query through transaction RSRT and clicking on the Generate Report button, I get the following message:
"<b>Currency translation cannot be carried out for element 20 (my calculated key figure). Element 20 neither contains a Basic key figure nor a variable with type Amount. For this reason, you cannot and do not need to perform a currency translation</b>."
From the above message, I must be setting my calculated key figure incorrectly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Hau

    Hello Ajeet and N Ganesh,
Thank-you for your help.  I verified that the dimensions of my key figure 'Material Source Plant Cost' was of type 0AMOUNT, so that was not the issue.
The issue was in the error message that was returned when I pressed the Generate Report button in RSRT.  Essentially, currency conversions in BEX can only be performed on basic key figures or simple replacement path variables.
I can perform the currency translation on a SIMPLE calculated key figure that contains only the replacement path variable (where 'Material Source Plant Cost' is an attribute of my master data characteristic ZMAT_SRC).  However, I found that I cannot perform the currency translation on COMPLEX calculated key figures, like in my example above.
To get around this currency translation issue and as suggested by the error message, I created a SIMPLE calculated key figure for replacement path variable 'Material Source Plant Cost' and performed the currency translation.  The problem with this solution is that while I get my currency translation, I also get a calculated key figure that is aggregated, according to the query layout.
To get around the aggregation issue, I also created a dummy counter as a master data attribute (of ZMAT_SRC) to capture the aggregation.  I assign a value of ‘1’ to this dummy counter/master data attribute in the update rules to my ZMAT_SRC infoobject.
I then divide my new (aggregated) calculated key figure for 'Material Source Plant Cost' by the dummy counter (which is also aggregated).  Essentially, I divided the aggregated replacement path variable by the scaling factor.  The result is that I get a new calculated key figure that has been translated into the target currency and in the correct scaling factor.  I can use the new calculated key figures in the above formula; regardless of the report is rolled-up.
Again, thanks for your help.  It gave me the pieces to solve this puzzle.

  • Currency Translation key not appearing in dropdown for selection

    Hi BI Gurus,
We are using BI 7.0 SP 08 and SAPGUI 6.40 patch level 19. Let me explain our scenario.
We are using SEM-BPS for Planning. Data is loaded to BW InfoCubes and then uploaded to summerized Infocube.
We are also loading data from flatfiles into other set of custom Infocubes similar to IM Cubes.
Planning is done in Transactional infocube and there is multiprovider on top of Transactional Cube, Summerized standard Cube and summerized custom infocube (for flatfile) for reporting.
We are pushig back the final plans to R/3 system and currency conversion is automatic. There is no problem here.
We are loading planing data and actuals from flat files to our IM custom Infocubes. The data is coming in different currencies and we are converting and updating in the cubes in fixed currency USD. Once plans are finalized,we want to give some kind of tool to the users to see their appropriation requests and the plan value in local currency. We are thinking to create some BEX queries for this purpose. Users will Select their requests and currency and the query will display their requests in local currency.
RRC1 tcode does not work in BI 7.0. There is an equivalent Tcode RSCUR to create the Currency Translation Key. I created a translation key. Now I am trying to use this key into BEX, using GUI for 3.X and BI 7.0. This key is not appearing in the dropdown for the currency translation key selection. So there is no way I can use this key.
I went through a number of postings in this forum and still looking for the right one. Is something I am missing? or Is some bug in BI 7.0.
I know it was working in BW 3.5. Can you guys share your experience? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • EBS currency translation not "posting date"

    Hello,
We implemented EBS ealier this year.  The currency translation date on the FF_5 postings is taking the "document date" and not the "posting date" when determining which currency exchange rate to use.  This is only an issue for a couple days at month end when the document date is in the current month, but the posting date is in the prior month.
What do we need to do to change the currency selection back to "posting date".  I have never seen SAP use anything but posting date.  I have tried reviewing all the configuration of doc type and other set up during EBS implementation and cannot see how we have triggered this date.
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards,
    Morgan

I neglected to mention that we are calling this currency translation through a WAD button using the SET_CURRENCY_TRANSLATION command.  I did do a test by applying the currency conversion within query key figure.  This seems to work.  So it appears the issue is with how the WAD is processing the variable, not the query.  When I display the variable in a drop down item within the WAD it does have the default value that I have assigned in user exit.

  • Currency translation on Query level (YTD exchange rate)

    Hi Experts,
I want to implment the currency translation logic in query as below. Please advise what I should do.
    Case 1
    Variable entry screen
    Posting date (range): 01.09.2007 - 31.03.2008
    Query result
Sales amount figures from 01.09.2007 - 31.12.2007 => use exchage rate at 31.12.2007
Sales amount figures from 01.01.2008 - 31.03.2008 => use exchage rate at 31.03.2008
    Case 2
    Variable entry screen
    Posting date (range): 01.09.2006 - 30.06.2008
    Query result
Sales amount figures from 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2006 => use exchage rate at 31.12.2006
Sales amount figures from 01.01.2007 - 31.12.2007 => use exchage rate at 31.12.2007
Sales amount figures from 01.01.2008 - 30.06.2008 => use exchage rate at 30.06.2008
In query, key figure sales amount will be shown in ONE column. Please give a hint how to implement this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Helen

    Hi Helen,
I guess you are trying to user conversion based on data record. data record intunr dependent on variable entry.
So for the definition of currency translation, use time reference as end of calender year/quarter and info object as posting date.
This should work fine for the same key figure, based on posting date, as per the example provided by you.
    Hope I am clear enough.

  • Printing Document and Comments of a BPS layout

Do you know how i can take print out of all the comments that i have in a BPS layout. Where does all these comments and documents are stored and how can i retrieve them. If it is same a Documents tab under BW, how can i get those documents for a particular layout, as i do not see the options of a Layout except to go with Queries and Info Cube.
What is the alternative solution  to achieve this. All my Users want to see the comments of other users and then plan on it..
    Thanks and appreciate your ideas.
    Veeru

    Hi Marc,
I have a requirement to print the comments entered in the planning layout to be printed in a Bex Web report.
I implemented your 'How To' paper but I still have to produce a web report to show all the comments from the planning layout.
I found on the forum about reading the DMS through a FM and writing into a table and uploading into a cube as a charcteristic.
    Are there any better alternatives?
    Thanks,

  • Currency Translation Type - Problem with Posting Period (0FISCPER3)

    Hi Gurus,
We are currently working on an Implementation project in Integrated Planning (BI 7.0) and are having issues with Currency Conversion for each Month. The requirement is that Client will maintain Currency Exchange rates on a month on month basis for Exchange rate type P.
In all the Info providers we have used Posting Period 0FISCPER3 as a Time characteristic and NOT 0FISCPER ( Fiscal Year / Period ). Eventhough 0FISCPER appears as a Standard time characteristic in all Info providers , we have not even considered the same in all the Aggregation levels.
When we are now defining a Currency Translation Type thru RSCUR transaction , we select Variable Time Reference as "Beginning of Period" and the ONLY Standard Info Object available there is 0FISCPER and not the Posting Period 0FISCPER3.
Is there anyway that we can include 0FISCPER3 also as a Standard Info Object !!!!! If not , is there any way out ..... Do we have to include 0FISCPER necessarily as a characteristic in the Aggregation Level ? Please advise.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

    Hi,
In the IP modeler you can also use the FOX formula for conversion.
    CURC(<amount>, <d>, <exchange rate type>, <curr_from>, <curr_to>)
This reads the RSCUR table, and you can write your own date from fiscal or calander. So it is most flexibel.
    Maybe this helps.

  • Change Data in BPS Layout: Exit Function

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
After some changes in the code, it seems that xth_data table is assuming the “new content”. In debugging, we could see that the assignment was made and xth_data records are now in a different order. But when executing the BPS Layout assigned to this planning function, all the lines (records) still in the same place. The Layout doesn’t change.
    This is the code:
    FUNCTION Z_ORDENAR_CLASSIFICACAO_PLANO.

      CALL METHOD cl_sem_planarea_attributes=>get_instance
        EXPORTING
          i_area      = i_area
        RECEIVING
          er_instance = lr_area.
      CREATE DATA lr_t_data TYPE (lr_area->typename_t_data).
      ASSIGN lr_t_data->* TO <lt_data>.
      <lt_data> = xth_data.
      CLEAR xth_data.
      l_sortfield = 'S_CHAS-0CMMT_ITEM'.
      SORT <lt_data> BY (l_sortfield) DESCENDING.
      MOVE <lt_data> TO xth_data.
    ENDFUNCTION.
Does anybody understand this behavior, why the changes in the user-exit are not assumed in the BPS Layout?

  • Currency translation with user defined exchange rates in a BEx report

    Hi guys,
our business department requests a new functionality in our BW system. They want to simulate a currency translation in a BEX report. But this currency translation should be so flexible, that the user can change the exchange rates directly in the report.
For example: The report should show a list of all our local company revenues. In the first column the plan revenues will be shown in the local currency (each company has its own local currency: USA->USD; Japan->YPN, Great Britain->GBP and so on). This revenues comes from a normal infoprovider, loaded via flat-file.
In the second column the user should be able to enter or change a plan currency rate. The entered exchange rates should be stored in BW for a next use. They won't maintain the rates directly in TCURR, because this rates are only for simulation use !
In the third column the translated Revenues in Euro currency has to be shown under the use of the exchange rates from the second column.
I investigated a lot of time in the SAP help and here in the SDN, but I didn't find any solution to realize this. Is there generally a possibility to make a currency translation with exchange rates out of the TCURR? Would it be an option to use the integrated planning function of BW? Or is this requirement to far away for an simple implementation in SAP BI ?
I hope, someone of you has also fixed a similar problem or has a good inspiration.
    Thank you in advance.
    Thomas

    thanks for the prompt reply!
Unfortunately, exchange rates are not a part of my cube. They are held in different tables, and referenced depending on what kind of exchange rates I need to be looking at (average rates, daily, planning etc.). The only way for me, at the moment, to know which rates have been used is to go to query global view, and look at the type of conversion, and then try to figure things out. Plus there can be a different key date used in the query, which makes things more complicated.
    Anyway, it was worth asking
    Thanks again.
