Import dd-mmm-yy hh:mm:ss / dd-mmm-yyyy hh:mm:ss from flatfile to DateTime

I have a three flat files with data from Oracle.  The dates are in two formats:
01-APR-10 00:00:00
01-Apr-2010 16:27:07
SQL2008 R2 SSIS.
On the connection manager I have the date fields as string[DT_STR].
The SQL destination table uses [datetime]
In the Data Conversion Data Type, I have tried the following:
DT_DBTIMESTAMP
DT_DBTIMESTAMP2
Error is: Data conversion failed while converting column "DELETE_DATE" (556) to column "DELETE_DATE_XX" (559).  The conversion returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential
loss of data.".
Suggestions??
-Al H

Hi AI H,
From the error message “Data conversion failed while converting column "DELETE_DATE" (556) to column "DELETE_DATE_XX" (559).  The conversion returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of
a potential loss of data.”, we can infer the issue is caused by the input column “DELETE_DATE” cannot convert to the output column DELETE_DATE_XX in Data Conversation Transformation.
In Integration Services, when you want to convert from a string to a date or time data type, the string must use the string format that corresponds to the appropriate date or time data type. For example, to successfully convert some date strings to the DT_DBTIMESTAMP
data type, these date strings must be in the format, "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss[.fff]". For more details, please see:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141036(v=sql.120).aspx
So to fix this issue, we should convert the original format data to “yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss”, then import the date to SQL destination table. The following expression is for your reference:
LEN(DELETE_DATE) == 18 ? ("20" + SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE,8,2)) : SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE,8,4)+ "-" + (UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "JAN" ? "01" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "FEB" ? "02" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "MAR" ? "03" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "APR" ? "04" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "MAY" ? "05" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "JUN" ? "06" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "JUL" ? "07" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "AUG" ? "08" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "SEP" ? "09" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "OCT" ? "10" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "NOV" ? "11" : UPPER(SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 4, 3)) = "DEC" ? "12" : "00") "-" + SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE, 1, 2))+SUBSTRING(DELETE_DATE,LEN(DELETE_DATE)-8,9)
The following blog about Converting Strings to Dates in the Derived Column Component is for your reference:

How do I get photos from the iPhoto import folder to the iPhoto library?  It uploaded, but hung while deleting from my camera, so no imported photos are in the iPhoto library.  I watched it upload about 400 photos, one by one.  They're somewhere, but they don't appear in the iPhoto library. As iPhoto was deleting them from my camera, it got hung up, then a message came "you should eject before disconnecting a device."  I hadn't touched the camera.  The message came by itself.  I couldn't get iPhoto to respond, so I disconnected the camera and did a Force Quit.  Opening it back up, the pictures were gone.  Can somebody help me?

What version of iPhoto are you running?  Assuming it's iPhoto 9 or later Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4

Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture,  and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/  then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture  something .plist  remove them too.
    then try again.
And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
    ~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist
    Regards
    Léonie
P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
You can reveal it also  from the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > Go,   then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences".

I want to import songs frm my Ipod to my itunes library.  Songs were ripped from CDs to the ipod not purchased from itunes store...how can this be done?

You would have to let itunes rip the songs from the cd's, or you would have to copy the music from the computer which ripped cd's.
iTunes does not support transferring music from the ipod unless it was purchased from the store.

  • Advice Needed - What's more important: Number of cores, RAM, Processor? Comparing similarly priced Macbook Pro's from 2012 - 2013

What is more important? Cores, RAM, Processors etc?
There are several models available right now on the apple store that are similarly priced but offer different specs.
I'm looking to purchase a secondary Mac for making music (house/techno in Logic) on the move and to be able to carry out basic work tasks.
The models at similar prices available are:

Which should I go for? Is retina all together a better machine and a good enough update, or should i go for a 2012 model which is almost maxed out like 15.4?
Any advice and experience of these machines is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    kkd_ldn

    kkd_ldn,
because the RAM in the Retina models is non-upgradeable, I’d say that RAM is most important on the Retina models.
All of the models above will perform basic work tasks well; I haven’t tried making music on my Mac, so I don’t know what the bottleneck there might be. If it’s CPU-intensive, then the 15-inch quad-core model might be the best choice, despite its slower CPU speed. You can upgrade the RAM on the non-Retina models if RAM turns out to be a bottleneck.

  • After some updates, Aperture stops recognizing previously imported files, and rewrites video metadata dates.  How do I keep the from occurring?

I have been using Aperture since version 1 (to now, 3.x.x), and after some updates Aperture fails to recognize the files previously imported.  I have checked the selection box that says "Do not import duplicates" every time I import.  I have pics and videos dating back to 2001 in the Aperture dB.  Videos were imported once Ap started to support it.  (Well, the initial support was really bad...)  Anyway, those earlier video files all have the same date - now - thanks to Aperture changing the dates to 3/24/00.  The funny thing is, Aperture will not let me manually correct the dates.  To me, it seems that after every major update, the dB gets "reset" and forgets files already imported.  I'm not saying pics/vids imported in the last month, but say six months to five years or more.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
I do not think this matters, hoever, my Ap is set up with referenced original on an external drive.
    Thank you!

    WOW!
I'm REALLY impressed by your exhaustive and detailled description!
How long did it take to write? Sure longer than the import itself...
Thank you so much. I got a working import of Ap2 lib before but your description have me various hints for handling problematic or faulty projects.

check the lower right corner of the iTunes window
if you don't see this while the homeshared library is loaded, home sharing hasn't been set up properly.

    no.
    that's expected behavior.

  • Importing XML file to InDesign : making a bloc clickable using an url field from the XML

Greetings, here is what I want to do, I want to know if it is possible and possibly how.
The idea is to make one big InDesign document in which I would import multiple xml flies such as the code sample given below
Then apply some InDesign styles to display certain fields in a certain way.
The document is eventually rendered into a PDF file that will be clickable.
The trick is I want every block to be clickable and target the URL given in the XML <url> </url>
    Can you help me ?

If you select the text you want to be clickable then go to Window>Interactive>Hyperlink you can then add a hyperlink to that entire block of text.
    Is that what you want?

  • Uninstalled. Still get error msg that replicate endlessly over time or import wizard comes up. How do I exorcise this program & all files from machine?

I've re-installed to try putting all files back in place/overwrite the lingering file hoping that with another uninstall it would take all the files including whatever causes the error. In App Data Local/Roaming I've deleted the folders AMozilla after a restart of the computer because it says files in use when trying to delete any time other than while system is still loading at start up.
Most of the time it's just an error saying Firefox isn't working properly and it replicates itself over time. I have the choice of minimizing and then waiting as each one takes over the taskbar or close each one as they pop up. Every so often it pops up the wizard from first start up after install asking to import favorites from IE/Chrome.

    Did you also delete....
    #C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    OR
    #C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

  • How do I import IE8 on Win 7 bookmarks (it only asks if I want this from Safari)?

I have a new MacBookPro also running Windows 7 (on Parallels 6). I have just discovered that Safari will not let me select separate download locations for each download. This is a total "deal killer" as I get much email with attachments on multiple topics. For this reason I went to Firefox.
When I click "Import" on the Firefox "File" menu it only give me the option of importing from Safari, that is, it DOES NOT ask "from a file?" "from another location" etc. How do I transfer my old Internet Explorer 8 bookmarks to Firefox??

Nope when i open it a box comes up telling me it's an animated gif you can only view one frame, if only Adobe made it that simple.

so.on.Firstly and most importantly do NOT store dates as char columns: that's what the DATE type is for.
Secondly, i'm not sure how you get your output from the input, particularly as your SQL contains 'partition by loc_name' which
doesn't even exist in your example table.
Why has the same name got two rows with those min/max times. Are you partitioning by val1?

    1. My PC running on Windows 7 64 bit
    2. Installed Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1.0 software
    3. Created a listner after insalling above database software
    4. Created data warehouse database and unlocked OWBSYS and OWBSYS_AUDIT accounts
    5. Set ORACLE_HOME=C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\
    6. Set TNS_ADMIN=C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\NETWORK\ADMIN
    7. After doing this I was able to connect all the source and data warehouse databases I am concerned with.
    7. Installed Oracle Warehouse Builder Client 11.2.0.3.0 64 bit
    8. Created repository using repository assistant insatlled duing database software.
    9. Created oracle database module for the schema created under data warehouse database.
    10. Tried to import database objects for the oracle module and got the error explained above when clicked on Finish
Please someone reply to this thread since I searched lot on google and didn't get any solution and not understanding what this issue is.

  • Error "could not be read" when importing in LR5

    Import problem
    Lightroom 5
    Mac OS X 10.8.4
Try to import CR2 files from CF card - files show in import screen but then will not import
    "Import Results
Some import operations were not performed.
The following files were not imported because they could not be read (1):......."
Then lists ALL files on CF card
I tried copying CR2 files to a temporary folder on my desktop but get exactly the same message. Also tried importing iPhone images and get exactly the same message.
This all worked for the first week LR5 was installed and has just started happening after a week
Have no problems at all in Lightroom 4.4
Message title was edited by: Brett N

I am having the exact same issue. Completely unable to import photos of any kind into LR5 from any source. I have been having to import all of my photos into LR4 and then open LR5 to "Copy from another Library", but I think that is a ridiculous step to have to take.
My workflow is that I copy all photos from my memory card directly to a RAID I have and then I import that folder, in place, into LR. Every time I try to do this, the import window is completely blank. The same workflow I have been using since LR version 1 no longer seems to apply in LR5. I have even tried importing the photos to that same folder directly from the memory card through LR5, but it hasn't worked.
This really seems like a gigantic BUG that Adobe, somehow, overlooked in their zeal to get LR5 out the door and into consumer's hands. I have tried importing RAW (NEF) files, JPEGS, copying to DNG and nothing seems to work.
There are tons of features in LR5 that I am using (after the workaround I have laid out) and it is frustrating that I simply can't move forward. I realize that it is a new release, but this seems very basic to me. You should AT THE LEAST be able to import the photos that you are wanting to work on. I just don't know how this release made it.
Thank you for opening this thread. I also have no XMP files in any of my folders. Not quite sure why that is working for other folks. I have also tried to import directly from my iPhone and iPad with no significant results.
I am wondering if it may have something to do with the Camera Raw filter that came with LR5? I should try telling LR5 to "Open Photos in Camera RAW 6.0 and later" and see if that helps at all.

  • IPhoto '09 can't "locate" a recent set of imported images

    ISSUE
NOTE: This is for a MANAGED iPhoto library NOT a Referenced one, and the original image files DO exist and are located in both the source location and the iPhoto Library.
Late last friday (11/6) suddenly started getting the following error messages on a specific set of images imported into iPhoto from an external Hard Drive:
    • The photo “classes.nib” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.
The quoted filename varies, but are all like the above, NOT the actual image filename.
I've had the message before, (rarely and not for years) but normally the filename in quotes is the name of the selected image i.e. "IMG_2251.jpg, etc. and has always been due to the actual file no longer existing for one reason or another (usually some thing I did)
The error message only appears during Preview of the image set in the Library >"Photos" index section.
I am currently ignoring the warning, since:
    • the images DO appear to exist (in iPhoto Library> Originals > [the year] > [the date]
    • are obviously being managed by iPhoto,
    • can be edited by iPhoto (see more info below)
But this obviously makes me nervous about the integrity of my photo library (i do have time machine and some disc media backups of many (not all, yet) albums, but still ...
    CONFOUNDING FACTORS
    1. Despite the error message:
    • the image preview appears (not an "!" or "?") before and after dismissal of the message
    • I can continue on to edit the image from the preview step.
    • I can right click on the preview, select "Show Original File" and iPhoto locates the original image in the iPhoto Library Package file.
    2. It does not appear if:
    • I ignore the message and continue on to to edit the image
    • I preview the image in the "Library > Events" index section.
    • I preview the image in the "Recent > Last Import" index section.
    3. Trashing, and emptying trash (from any index view) then re-importing them hasn't helped.
    4. All offending photos can be opened, viewed and edited in various image viewers, editors (Preview.app, the Finder Quickview, Photoshop CS 3, Graphic Converter
    5. Subsequent imports don't appear to have the problem.
    SUGGESTS:
    • A database problem?
    RESOLUTION STEPS:
    Attempted with no corrective results.
    1. Trashed problem photos and emptied iPhoto Trash, reimported images from Ext. HD via drag-n-drop to library index
    2. Above, re-imported via File > Import to Library ...
    3. Above 1 and 2 import steps with files copied to Local HD
    4. Step 3 above with duplicated files (via File > Duplicate)
    5. Opened a photo file in Preview, did save as ..., imported into iPhoto
    6. Step 5 above with Photoshop CS3, slightly cropped image, saved as, imported into iphoto.
    7. Ran "Disk Utility > Verify and Repair Disk" from Snow Leopard Install Disc (there were file and folder count mismatch issues)
    8. Re-ran Verify afterwards with clean bill of health.
    RECREATION STEPS:
Unknown on how to initially trigger but the last and only iPhoto Console logs appear to be from around the time the issue began:
    11/6/09 9:07:39 AM [0x0-0x1e51e5].com.apple.iPhoto[3976] Fri Nov 6 09:07:39 Trebor-4.local iPhoto[3976] <Error>: kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSShapeWindow

    RESOLVED (if not altogether answered)
Performed the iPhoto database rebuild cha-cha again - this time selecting ALL checkboxes (previously only selected "Rebuild from backup)
After rebuild, some photos appeared to be fixed, but photos that still showed the the error were all within specific Photo Rolls and DID NOT allow me to "show original file" on right click.
On inspection within the iPhoto Library package, the remaining problem photo files were all ALIASES, not actual image files.
Although the error dialog allowed me to to try and find the missing original, browsing for it didn't work. All image files listed in the browser were grayed out and not selectable.
SO, not sure if this was kosher, but the following seemed to clear things up:
    * found real images for the aliased files on archived media
    * copied the real files over the aliases of the same file name
    * accepted finders warning that I was replacing files of the same name
    * returned to the iPhoto rolls and previewed the previously error prone images
NOTE: I DID NOT close iPhoto while I was doing this. Not sure how dangerous that was.
iPhoto seemed none the wiser, and the error message was gone. (oddly, initially the first photo in each affected roll still threw up the error, but when I moved on the the next one and came back, all seemed well and the message was gone)
Did not appear to be a rhyme or reason to which rolls contained aliases and which didn't - photo/file date stamps weren't contiguous (so it wasn't a problem of a series of event imports from the camera/card.)
Best I can figure is somehow some sets were imported as referenced files although my iPhoto is set to use a managed library.
I'm in the process of consolidating some older manually managed image archives, so I don't know when this happened, or if it's the result of some accidental duplication, aborted import or what. I DO know that I had not encountered this error before, and I know I reviewed the affected rolls some time in the past, long after I had imported them.
Well, all seems to be on the mend. So life is good.
Except for those crufty leftovers. May still want to do something about that.
Thanks to Terence for leading me to look in the right places.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Active Directory Import- Manager field not updating

    Hi,
SharePoint 2013 Active directory import  -Manager field not updating
    Concern/Issue-
We are using SharePoint and configured the Active Directory Import .First import it seems everything is working fine and OOB Organization chart  built using User profile data is coming out right.
Now the user is moved from one Organization Unit to Another.
Now our Manager field is not Updating .There is change in AD manager attribute but not reflecting in the SharePoint User profile.
Manger field is mapped to "manager" attribute in SharePoint.
We tried removing the user and Re-Import using Incremental import but no luck.
    Thanks for help in advance
    Sachin

Moving a user from one OU to another in AD won't normally change the Manager attribute in AD.  You would need to edit the user's organization settings to change the manager value in AD.  I've also seen these changes not be picked up unless something
other than just the manager field in AD changing.  Try changing something like Office location and see if the manager change is picked up by AD Import.
