Import eif files of OFA to Oracle 10g
I have exported my super and shared databases of OFA into "eif" files. Pls tell me how i should import it into Oracle 10g database and subsequently view it using BI Beans or Discoverer.
Thanks,
Krishanu
Thanks for the info.
I tried creating as given in the article, but i am unable to see the OLAP Catalog view. I proceeded as follows:
1)Created a User called DEMO and granted Unlimited Taplespace privilege to EXAMPLE.
CREATE USER DEMO IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD
DEFAULT TABLESPACE EXAMPLE
TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP
ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
GRANT OLAP_USER TO DEMO
CREATE DIRECTORY EIF_FOLDER AS 'D:\';
GRANT READ ON DIRECTORY EIF_FOLDER TO DEMO;
2)Connected to Analytic Workspace Manager as "DEMO" and opened OLAP Worksheet and gave the following commands
AW CREATE super
IMPORT ALL FROM EIF FILE 'eif_folder\super.EIF' DATA DFNS
(I got the error "CAUTION: FMV is being imported. However, this is a reserved word, so
you must rename the new object before you can use it")
Then, i gave the commands,
UPDATE
COMMIT
CALL CREATE_DB_STDFORM('super')
UPDATE
COMMIT
In the Enterprise Manager Console of Schema "DEMO" i can see the following objects,
Object Object Type
AW$SUPER TABLE PARTITION
AW$SUPER TABLE
SUPER_I$ INDEX
SUPER_S$ SEQUENCE
SYS_IL0000051573C00004$$ INDEX PATITION
SYS_LOB0000051573C00004$$ LOB PARTITION
SYS_LOB0000051573C00004$$ LOB
However in Analytical Workspace manager nothing is there, all the 3 folders of "Measure Folders", "Cubes" and "Dimensions" are empty.
Pls tell me where i am going wrong or am i missing any step?
Thanks,
Krishanu

Error while importing eif file
Hi Experts,
I was trying to export and import my AW as it may release some space after I did a failed attempt to do three generation update. Anyways I took the export and it create three files with two extension files.
$ ls -ltr
total 9812352
-rw-r--r-- 1 oradbdev oinstall 2147479552 Dec 26 01:24 OLAP_AGG_NEW.EIF.eif.e001
-rw-r--r-- 1 oradbdev oinstall 728924160 Dec 26 02:04 OLAP_AGG_NEW.EIF.eif.e002
-rw-r--r-- 1 oradbdev oinstall 2147479552 Dec 26 03:17 OLAP_AGG_NEW.EIF.eif
Mistakenly I gave name as OLAP_AGG_NEW.EIF.eif not sure if this is the issue. When I tried to imoprt it gave me following error and now I cannot attach the AW in RW mode through AWM but I can attach through OLAP worksheet.

BrijeshHi Stuart,
following are the commands. I am going to start the import in some time. Do you have any suggestion?
exec dbms_aw.execute('aw attach xpro_olap_wh ro');
exec dbms_aw.execute('allstat');
exec dbms_aw.execute('limit name to all');
exec dbms_aw.execute('export all to eif file ''XML_IMPORT_DIR/XPRO_OLAP_WH.eif''');
exec dbms_aw.execute('aw detach xpro_olap_wh');
exec dbms_aw.execute('aw delete xpro_olap_wh');
exec dbms_aw.execute('aw create xpro_olap_wh');
exec dbms_aw.execute('import all from eif file ''XML_IMPORT_DIR/XPRO_OLAP_WH.eif''');
exec dbms_aw.execute('update');
commit;
exec dbms_aw.execute('aw detach xpro_olap_wh');

Error on Maintaining after importing eif file
I deleted an object from my aw and then created an eif file.
I then deleted the aw and created a new aw
I import the eif file (it imported successfully)
I had to reset the mappings to the relational tables for each dimension
When I go to maintain the dimension I get the following error:
oracle.AWXML.AWException: Action BUILDDATABASE failed on object RPAPPA.CAREFIRST
at oracle.AWAction.BuildDatabase.Execute(BuildDatabase.java:737)

Caused by: oracle.AWXML.AWException: ***Error Occured: Error Validating Dimension Mappings ACTIVE_INACTIVE.DIMENSION.
at oracle.AWAction.BuildDatabase.Execute(BuildDatabase.java:731)
... 3 more
It seems as if it doesn't know where the source is during the maintain process, but it does know where the source is when I am mapping the objects.
I can create a new dimension in the aw, and map it to the same relational table and it works fine. Anyone else run into this problem?Hello papparotto!
Have you found something out?
I recently did an export by:
CDA my_directory
LIMIT NAME TO ALL
ALLSTAT
EXPORT ALL TO EIF FILE ' brian_AWM_PERSONAL_FRISK_20080421_V1.EIF' rewrite
And import:
IMPORT ALL FROM EIF FILE 'temp/brian_AWM_PERSONAL_FRISK_20080421_V1.EIF' INTO 'personal_frisknarvaro' DATA DFNS
The mapping was lost but it was possible to redo it. Got the following errormessage in the mapping:
oracle.AWXML.AWException: Action CREATE failed on object MAPGROUP1 at oracle.AWAction.Create.Execute(Create.java:226) at oracle.AWAction.Interaction.execute(Interaction.java:241) at oracle.olap.awm.dataobject.modeler.ModelDO.update(ModelDO.java:749) at oracle.olap.awm.dataobject.modeler.DimensionDO.update(DimensionDO.java:747) at oracle.olap.awm.dataobject.dialog.PropertyViewer.doApplyAction(PropertyViewer.java:770) at oracle.olap.awm.dataobject.dialog.PropertyViewer.access$200(PropertyViewer.java:54) at oracle.olap.awm.dataobject.dialog.PropertyViewer$1ApplyThread.run(PropertyViewer.java:550) Caused by: oracle.AWXML.AWException: An error occurred creating DimensionMapGroup D_FRISK_ANSVGRP.ANSVGRP_H.KUND.MAPGROUP1.DIMENSIONMAPGROUP : ***Error Occured in CREATE_MAPPING_GROUP: D_FRISK_ANSVGRP.ANSVGRP_H.KUND.MAPGROUP1.DIMENSIONMAPGROUP is already a value of PERSONAL_FRISKNARVARO!MAPGROUP_DIM. at oracle.AWXML.DimensionMapGroup.Create(DimensionMapGroup.java:482) at oracle.AWAction.Create.Execute(Create.java:200) ... 6 more
I then removed everything an did an import through the menu. The mapping was lost but it was possible to redo it.
How should I move my AW between environments?
(When I create AW from Template, I don’t get the programs and have to create then manually.)
Best regards,

Hi all,
just a couple of technical question about AWM:
this is our scenario: we exported and EIF file from AW then we try to import this EIF file into another DB and the import procedure appears completed.. but if we try to browse the imported AW with AWM we get an exeception.
We also would like to use API from a Java client application that should create a DWH of example and should import an EIF file just using a bottom. Anyone know which are the correct API to use to get this?
Any idea??
Many thanks,
Gianluca and PaoloImport has a lot of options, so it depends on what you want to do.
C:\> imp help=y
will show you all possible options. An example of full import :
C:\> imp <username>/<password>@<TNS alias> file=<DMP file> full=y log=<LOG file>

Hi Linda,
The database version is 10g and OS is linux. Can we use filesize parameter for the export. Please advice on this.FILESIZE will limit the size of a file in case you specify multiple dumpfiles. You could also could specify multiple dump directory (in different FS) when given multiple dumpfiles.
For instance :
dumpfile=dump_dir1:file1,dump_dir2:file2,dump_dir3:file3...Nicolas. -
Error WUC-14 after open a File with CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FOPEN (Oracle 10g)
Hi,
the error WUC-14 occurs during open a file with forms10g.

Afterwards the error message it ist possible to write into the file and close it correctyl (without am error message - also the Information is correkt).
During debugging the error occurs in the function GETPROPERTY (Webutil).
the error occurs only sometimes.
Can anybody help me to solve the problem ?
best regards,
Alexandra SchermannHi Alexandra,
You can catch the exception in Exceptions part and close the file. Something like,
DECLARE
F_VersandZahlen CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE;
BEGIN
F_VersandZahlen := CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FOPEN (F_Dateiname,'w');
<do your processing>
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FCLOSE(F_VersandZahlen);

Help to create complex graphs in oracle 10g reports
As my company has migrated from 6i to Oracle 10g, but as graph ogd files are obselete in Oracle 10g , I am trying to create new graphs in Oracle 10g.
But problem I am facing that I cannot give axis value 'LABEL' or define my own scale or draw any lines on chart or inshort plot graph as I need. Moreover no way to read objects on Chart. In forms 6i it was easy to read object with command "OG_GET_OBJECT(OBJECT_NAME)". Helps tell me to use graph.dtd but I am unable to use it or I don't know how to use it. No documentation available anywhere how to use graph.dtd syntax.
Is it possible to achieve my above goals or any other tools to customize charts.
PrashantHello FormsEleven,
First of all very Thanks for reply. Thanks for your valuable time given to me.
I don't have any error in my java/jinit console infact latest jinit is running and web browser start with message applet are being loaded and Oracle forms service installed successfully. All other forms details are very well displayed on browser form, only bean area remains empty. Following are my formsweb.cfg details. Note on below [bigraph] section I have commented some lines but that also done after my form did not work.

i have export data from user and create a dmp file.how to impdp that dmp file in to another user.please give me steps.
Hi,
You can use following command to import data thru impdp utility of Oracle 10g
impdp system/<paswd> schemas=scott directory=dmp_dir dumpfile=dbbkp.dmp logfile=dbbkp.log
impdp system/<paswd> directory=dmp_dir dumpfile=dbbkp.dmp logfile=dbbkp.log schemas=scott remap_schema=scott:scott
where
impdp= an import mode
schmas=in which user you want to import dump file
directory=directory name you've created if not then
create or replace directory <name>;
grant read write on directory <name> to <user>;
dumpfile=<name>.dmp
logfile=<name>.log
remap_schema= targetuser:sourceuser
Thanks

Oracle Database Migration(Oracle 9.2.0.4 to Oracle 10g)
I want to migrate my database from Oracle 9.2.0.4 to Oracle 10g XE, is there any method to migrate the database successfully..?
My plan is to empty the existing database on the Oracle 10g XE then export the database from old machine(Oracle 9.2.0.4-including privilages,users,tables,etc) and import it to the new machine(Oracle 10g XE), but i was worried if I empty the existing database(Oracle 10g XE), all the tables will be gone(including Oracle 10g XE system table that do not exist in older oracle version) and after I import the database to Oracle 10g, I afraid the database will encounter any problem because I've deleted the Oracle 10g system tables.
Anyone can give me suggestion on how to migrate the database successfully..?
Thank you.What's the Edition of your Oracle 9.2 ?
I don't think do full export/import from 9i to Oracle 10g XE is good idea. The chance you will have problem after import is very high.
Instead, you may want to consider do schema user level exp/imp.
Don't drop any thing belongs to SYS and SYSTEM on 10g XE. Actually you only need to drop the sample users like 'HR' -

(407)-858-8454It's probably dimension order. When you use a for statement, you are specifying the order in which you want things to be processed. I copied your statement as the order. What you really need to do is a describe on one or more of your variables:
describe f.minsThe system will respond with something like (I've made this up):
DEFINE F.MINS VARIABLE INTEGER <time product geography...>The describe command lists the dimensions from fastest varying to slowest. Unfortunately, for historical reasons, the FOR command takes its arguments from slowest to fastest. So (ignoring the rest of the dimensions I didn't list) you would
use a FOR statement like this for optimum looping:
FOR ...GEOGRAPHY PRODUCT TIMEYou don't really need to list time (it only has one value), but it doesn't hurt anything. What is going on here is we store values in the AW as an (approximately) linear array, ignoring some complications, and if you specify the "right" order, we will pull all the values on one page before going to the next page. If you don't specify the "right" order, you will be pulling each value from a different page, and doing a ton of I/O. With a command like REPORT, which does its own looping, it tends to loop in the optimal order internally.
Rearrange your dimensions on the FOR statement in order to optimize your looping.
If you use the script you already have, you will need to make one additional change to it. You either need to delete the existing program:
DELETE EXPORT_ITbefore you re-define it or make it active:
CONSIDER EXPORT_IT before you can re-populate the text. I frequently do:
DEFINE PROGRAM EXPORT_IT
CONSIDER EXPORT_ITwhen I am using a script to create a program. You will see an error on the DEFINE after the first time, but you can ignore it. You might want to DESCRIBE the program to make sure you have the text you expect.

Importing and executing a .sql file into Oracle 10g
Hi
I am looking to import and execute a .sql file(create scripts created of a databse designed in MS SQL Server 2005). The file was imported into Oracle APEX 3.10 but we are unable to execute the script. Please suggest alternatives as to how we can import these files.
Thanks in advance.You likely need to migrate the database (objects and data). This is not so easy and you should have a look to migration tools: http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/07-sep/o57sql.html.
