Import Evolution email into Thunderbird

Anyone successfully imported Evolution mail into Thunderbird? I can't seem to figure it out and googling revealed no useful links ( at least none till I lost interest   )
Thanks

AFAIR, the use program is not the issue the format it is. I once used MH files from sylpheed via Evolution. A complex symlinksystem made it possible.
kmail user maildir as default. So just look for maildir to mbox converters usually available as command line tools. AFAIR the was aproject on sourceforge. But also look if kmail just includes an exporter for mbox. Just make sure you backup things before.

  • Trying to import Entourage Emails into Apple Mail

    I recently purchased a new Mac (Mountain Lion) and am trying to import the emails from my old Mac. I was previously using Entourage but I want to import them into Apple Mail.
    My old Mac will not restart but I have a copy on time machine. I think I have located the correct folder (and have copied it to my desktop):
    My User Name/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/Main Identity/Database
    However, when I click on the Import Mailboxes option in Apple Mail, it only gives me the following options:
    Apple Mail, Netscape/Mozilla, Thunderbird, Eudora, Files in mbox format.
    Does anybody have any ideas on how to proceed?
    Many thanks
    Claire

    One method which is manual is as follows.
    With the Apple Address Book and Entourage address book launched and both positioned so each is partially visible, select the Address Book "All" Group.
    Select a contact in the Entourage address book and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Select All to select/highlight all Entourage contacts.
    Click and drag all selected/highlighted contacts to the Address Book Name column for the "All" Group and release.
    After selecting all Entourage contacts, you can also try Edit > Copy.
    Select the Name column for the Address Book "All" Group and at the Address Book menu bar, go to Edit and select Paste.

  • Importing MDaemon email into OSX Leopard Server

    I currently use MDaemon email server software on a Win2K server computer to manage my company email. Can Email Services on OSX Leopard import all my old emails from MDaemon? I really want to make the change and dump Win2K forever....but I can't throw away 8 years of carefully organized emails and their subfolders. Is this a problem? Thanks in advance.

    Just looking to move about 4 years worth of archived emails for about 12 email accounts. I'm hoping I can merge all our old emails into Leopard Email Service. They are ".msg" files.

  • How to import non-IMAP Windows 8 emails into Thunderbird

    I've upgraded my daughter's tablet from the awful "resident" Windows 8 mail program to Thunderbird and would like to import her old .eml email files into her TB inbox.
    I've seen threads instructing how to do this if the old emails are stored on an IMAP account (gmail, yahoo, etc.). But we don't have an IMAP account. Just the .eml files from our POP3 provider in the weird locations where Windows 8 put them (long path names with numbers).
    If anyone knows how to make Thunderbird import these, please respond. Thank you.

    There is an add-on to TB which allows import and export of emails in various formats to a separate storage medium (external disk, thumb drive, etc.).
    The instructions on how to download and install it can be found at http://barryduggan.info/exportMail.php
    You should be able to import the .eml with that.

    re :When I send mail form my alternative personality email address
    Is the 'alternative personality email address' set up as a mail account in it's own right or is it an additional Identity to the imap mail account?
    If set up as 'identity':
    Tools > Account Settings for the imap mail account.
    click on 'Manage Identities' button
    Select the additional identity email adress and click on 'Edit'
    Click on 'Copies & Folders' tab
    Select 'Palce a copy in'
    Select : 'Other' and choose the 'Sent folder on the imap mail account.
    make any other necesary changes.
    click on OK to save changes to identity.
    click on OK to save changes to Account Settings.

  • How can I get imported Outlook email into folders in mail?

    I am a longtime PC user with email and calendar in MS Outlook (finally) converting to an iMac.  I used the Migration Assistant to transfer my old PC email to new iMAC running OSX Lion via ethernet.  On the old PC, I have ~15 years of stored emails in a *.pst file, organized by folders.  I want to retain that file structure to organize older email (but retain it on hard drive for later access) in mail on the iMac.  For example, I get an email confirmation of an online order, I move it to a folder called "Money" in case I have any problems with the item or need ot figure out how long since I purchased something for warranty.  After the migration I have 1,984 messages in my inbox on the iMac.
    Two apparent problems:
    1) Everything is in one folder.  I don't want to have to refile all this stuff again.  How do I get an intact folder structure imported to iMac email from Outlook 2000 *.pst file?
    2)  I don't think the migration moved everything form the old pst.  It took more than inbox, but not enough to be all the emails.  To avoid duplications, should I scrub the iMAC mail clean before any steps to achieve 1 above?  If so how do I remove the emil imported the first try to iMac?
    Be gently, true newbie status here.  Learning the iMac slowly - but can't go for long without email.....

    Hi. I have a similar issue. Migration assistant seems to have pulled in all my email accounts (6) correctly and also the mails that were sat in those inboxes. However, the entire folder structure (where I would drag and drop) has not migrated and nor (it seems) the email contained within. I also have a .pst (which is not corrupted on the PC) and is not huge. So I would like to move all my history across. I don't particularly care about the folder structure but I do, of course, want all of my history transferred.
    Is there any easy way to do this? Otherwise all I can think of is moving all emails on my PC from the folders to an inbox in Outlook, unarchiving the .pst emails and then doing the email migration all over again.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Importing Yahoo emails into contacts list

    I have 3 Yahoo email accounts. There are different email addressess saved in each account since they are used for different things.  Some of the email addresses are saved into the contacts app on my iphone 4s (where the phone numbers are) but there are a few missing. When I go into mail, obviously they are all there. I just don't know how to actually get them all into the contact list where you also keep phone numbers. Under settings, mail etc the contacts slider button is on for all 3 accounts.
    I hope I'm making sense!

    go to   settings > mail contacts and calandars ,  then select each account and verify whether the slider for contacts is turned on
    Hop that helps

  • Trying to import Windows Mail into Thunderbird.

    FAQ says to use Tools|Import/export|Import all messages from a directory. All I get is Import and nothing else. No Import/Export etc. When I proceed, only options are form Eudora, Outlook and Outlook Express and no Windows Mail. Picked OE but doesn't work. I exported WinMail .eml files to a new directory for selection.

  • Import .wab file into thunderbird.

    All I want to do is import my Outlook 2003 addresses from my old Dell laptop (XP SP3) to my new HP G61 laptop (Win7). I've copied the .wab file onto a memory stick and that's as far as I can get. I can't see any option in firefox to import the .wab file. IT REALLY SHOULDN'T BE MADE SO HARD TO DO.

    If you have Outlook on same computer:
    Tools > import > Address book click on Next
    select: outlook click on next
    you may need to map the fields.
    Otherwise:
    You need to export the address book as .csv file.
    then Tools > import > Address book click on Next
    select: Text file(Ldif. .tab. .csv, .txt) and click on Next.
    If neither of the above are possible then you need to convert the .wab to a .csv file.
    One possible method found by googling:

  • Mbox import into Thunderbird from Mail

    In attempting to recreate my folder structure in Thunderbird (and following Mozilla's online instructions), I have moved several mbox files from my Mailboxes directory into Thunderbird and they appeared as they should have. However, I have noticed that many of my folders in Mail do not have an mbox file associated with them, rather just a .plist file. Any idea where the mbox files for these folders might be or how to create them? Thanks.

    I might want to note that Thunderbird might be a tad slower and have less synergy with apple's native address book etc.
    Anyway it should be possible, first you might want to create a seperate folder that contains all your e-mails as in send-backup, received-backup..etc. Then create a copy from your user > library > mail folder on your desktop (for testing & backup).
    Then you can try to import e-mails into Thunderbird using the import fuction.
    Good Luck

  • I find no way to import my my.yahoo data into Thunderbird, the import does not show a source.

    I downloaded and installed Thunderbird then used the import command to import my contact list. It did not import anything. I tried to import everything, again it imported nothing. I uninstalled TB and re-installed it. This time I tried to import everything first, and again it imported nothing. I have tried exporting the contact list from Yahoo email in both .csv and .ldif, but find no way to input or import them into TB. What can I do to import the address or contact file into TB. I have changed computers, but I am still using Windows 7 pro, and TB didn't have any trouble when I put it into the previous computer, which used Yahoo, last time. I'm at a loss as to how to do this other than manually typing in the listing, and I don't intend to do this even though I like TB much better than Yahoo for email.
    Also, when TB copied my email from Yahoo, it failed to transfer most of my archived email, although it did get some of them. How can I move the rest of my archives, (3 email addresses) into TB? None of the canned messages address my problems.

    '''re: Address book:'''
    Export the contact list from Yahoo as a comma separated .csv and save this on your desktop.
    In thunderbird.
    * open 'Address Book'
    * Tools > Import
    * select 'Address books'
    * click on Next
    * select 'Text file (ldif, .tab,.csv,.txt)
    * click on Next
    * locate the.csv file on desktop and click on Open
    * map fields to match Thunderbird fields
    '''re: Mail'''
    Do you have a Pop mail account?
    If yes, then all pop mail accounts (no matter what the email client) can only see the server Inbox and download any previously not downloaded email.
    To get other emails in other server folders onto Thunderbird, you need to:
    * logon to webmail account using a browser
    * move emails into inbox.
    In Thunderbird
    * click on GetMail to download those emails.
    * Move emails into suitable folders.
    * repeat as necessary to download emails.
    Three email addresses - this would require a mail account for each email address.
