Import format and scripts
Hi,
I have been testing an import script in a location but it kept showing me an import error message. Now I had only slightly modified a script from another location which i wrote a couple weeks ago so I was pretty sure I was working in the right direction.
However since the persistent import error messages, i tried copying the exact script that works well in the first location and pasted it in the other location just to see if it performs the same way. I changed the name of the script and the functions name within the script. However, stragely but to my consolation It still shows the same error message. The import files/extract files are identical and now even the scripts are identical but it works in one location and not in the other.
Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks,
Andy.
Perhaps the script isn't the error with that location and something else is or it's something in the load file that is exposing a flaw in the code.
Any chance you can share the error or the code? Would help a lot.

Imovie is limited to its import formats and does not allow for storing video in any rawformat. Which means all videos will contain lossy compression applied to the video….with no way to edit full format video. Is this statement true? Does iMovie support HD 1080p @ 60 fps?

yes and no!
using the intended Import from Camera routines, iM converts automatically in its very own AppleIntermediateCodec. so, answer is yes.
but …
a) Apple claims , aic is non-lossy intermediate codec. working with proRes in FCPX taught me, there are even less non-lossy-ness codecs
b) iM offers an Archive feature, which is basically a simple Finder/copy operation which 'clones' your SDcards content into some folder on your harddrive; e.g. you can later use these untouched 'raws' in another editor such as FCPX. so, answer is no.
c) when you 'override' the import routines by manually re-wrapping mts into a mov container, iM handles the 'native' h264s ... so, answer is no.
d) adding any effect, transition etc. reduces any interlaced source to 540p. (if you're working with 720p source, res is kept) … so, answer is yes. or, in 720p case, no.
< Johnny Depp's voice >… savvy?
Does iMovie support HD 1080p @ 60 fps?
via Import from Camera? No.
via re-wrapped mts>>mov? I was told yes, some say no.
one thing to be kept in mind when talking about these 'issues':
iM, this 12€, is meant as a CONSUMER toy tool.
it supports AVCHD vers1 (=no 1080/60p, no >24Mbps, no 3D).
fingers crossed, we'll see soon some iM/QT/FCPX update for support of AVCHD v2 ........
the main consumer devices are within the specs, iM supports.
using professional equipments makes usage of professional software (FCPX, AP) optional.
sorry for lengthy answer. -
Import format and/or digital copy protection issues
I'm new to the iTunes thing recently purchasing two 3gs iPhones. I have several hundred CD's ripped to FLAC format on a NAS device. When I add the networked folder to my iTunes it seems to read the directory and then add nothing to the library. I have even ripped these in .aac format and I get the same response.
I am now assuming that iTunes is rejecting them because they weren't ripped using iTunes. Cany anyone confirm that for me?
If I do go to the trouble of ripping them again will I be able to share them out to multiple devices? In my case a laptop and two iPhones.
Thanks in advance for the guidance.iTunes will not care whether a track was ripped using iTunes or another application, only that the track is in a format iTunes can accept, which does not include FLAC. It should work with standard AAC files, , though,so I can only guess that the utility you used isn't creating standard AAC. What did you use to do the ripping?
As to sharing, yes, you can sync iTunes with multiple iPhones. -
What is your preferred import format and why?
Just curious as to what people like to use for importing information into PowerShell. It obviously depends on the format of the information, like lists, single text fields and lists of lists.
[email protected]Thanks, Fred, this is actually for a new user script. I recently migrated our old new user script from VB to Powershell and things seem to be working ok with it, but it's time to expand it a bit and do automatic group provisioning. Each department is going
to send me a list of AD groups each new user should be added to for file/folder access and security and I was wondering the best format for those lists to be in. I was personally thinking have each list be a separate "text" file with each group on
a separate line and just import them as CSVs. What do you think?
Thanks.
[email protected]
That is not a CSV. THe usual and easiest method is to have thembuild an Excel Workbook with users listed by group:
Example:
UserID, Group
jsmith, users1
jsmith, users2
ljones, users1
ljones,users4
This would be easiest to loop through and should be easy to build. THis would be a SCSV or can be read directly out of an Excel WB.
If you want simple text then forget CSV
Use this:
jsmith, group, group2, group3
Now read oneline
and split
Get-Content usergroups.txt |
$userID,$groups = $_ -split ','
# process user
Now you have the userid and an array of groups.

Import Format script required to work across multiple fields
I am currently constructing an Import Format, and using datapump import scripts on several of the fields to implement specific logic based on the values present. For example:
Function TBNetwork(strField, strRecord)
If Left(strField, 1) = "N" Then
TBNetwork = strField
Else
TBNetwork = "Network N/A"
End If
End Function
However, I need this to also evaluate the values across other fields too, but the default two inputs for the function are strField and strRecord.
How can I achieve this? Can I declare new variables and define as follows?
Dim strCustomer = varValues(23)
Or do I need to look at implementing a different type of script? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!strRecord represents the entire data line from your source file that is currently being processed. You can parse this to get any of the values from your data line to use/evaluate in your script. There is an accelarator script DW.Utilities.fParseString which will do the string parsing for you. As you probably know strField only returns the field from the data file that you have specified in your import format for the associated dimension.

FDM Fixed-Width Import Format & Multiple Accounts/Periods Issue
Hi FDM experts,
I have an issue that I wanted to reach out to you on regarding fixed-width import formats and how to cater for my current scenario for export to Hyperion Planning.
I am working with a flat file (.txt) I need to import to FDM with the current format;
A
B
C
D
E
F
G
Z
Year
Channel
Product
Jan-MTD-Account 1
Jan-MTD-Account 2
Jan-YTD-Account1
Jan-YTD-Account2
Dec-YTD-Account2
2013
Channel_1
Product_1
1000
2000
1000
2000
10000
These are all fixed in width so the field lengths will need to be defined in the import format. The requirement for loading to the system is only a speciifc Month YTD value for both Account1 and Account 2.
If my chosen Month is 2013 Jan, I will only require columns F and G to be loaded. These are the issues I have identified;
Can a fixed width import format cater for loading to multiple accounts in the same file? Or would I need a separate import format per account?
Can a fixed width import format cater for loading to a variable Actual Month period? Or do I need 12 import formats/locations per month?
Your help is much appreciated!
Many thanks
AaronHi Aaron,
the solution you are looking for needs pivoting your source file.
Think that FDM, by default, only accepts files with one single column for amount. You have to pivot your file based on your logic and import the pivoted file.
For example:
Year Channel Product ... Jan-YTD-Acc1 Jan-YTD-Acc2 ...
2013 CH1 PR1 1000 2000
If your POV is Jan-2013, your data imported will look like:
Year Channel Produc Account Amount
2013 CH1 PR1 ACC1 1000
2013 CH1 PR1 ACC2 2000
All this process can be automated by playing with Import Scripts.

Multiple FDM Import Formats for One Location
I want to import trial balance data directly from the Oracle Financials database. I'm creating an import integration script to pull the ledgers directly via a SQL statement. My issue is that I also want to be able to write scripts to modify each individual field on the import, similar to a delimited import script where I can have a script for each dimension. Do you know if it's possible to combine import integration and delimited scripts in a single location? I'm guessing it may be a combination of the Import Format and Integration Options settings on the location, but I'm not sure which one should go where. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is not possible. Any adjustments to the data would need to be done within the integration script.

FDM - Import Format (Fixed Column Type - No Delimiter)
Hello,
Question on FDM. I've built an import format and successfully imported a Fixed Column type text file. Everything imports beautifully. FYI - The format of the file looks just like a Trial Balance with a column for Debits and one column for Credits. In the import format setup, I am using the DrCrSplit script. Weird thing here is that I noticed it just ignored any of the rows where the balance was over 1 million (but brought everything else in perfectly). I've played with the Start and Length fields to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
JamesGood day,
You can add a script as the last item to you amount import format, this will dump the values to a text file which may give you some idea of the issue. Open you file in a hex editor, there may be non printing characters.
Thanks
Function dumpamt(strField, strRecord)
'Declare Local Variables
Dim objFSAppend
Dim objFAppend
Dim strFileAppend
Dim blnCreate
'Initialize the file path
strFileAppend = "\\networkdirectoy\YourFileName.txt"
blnCreate = True
'Open the file system object and create the file
Set objFSAppend = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set objFAppend = objFSAppend.OpenTextFile(strFileAppend, 8, blnCreate)
'Append Data to File
objFAppend.WriteLine(strField)
'Close the objects
objFAppend.Close
Set objFAppend = Nothing

Multiple import formats in one FDM application....?
I wanted to know in my situation where there are 15 EBS Set of Books. whether it is possible to use only 1 FDM application to import all these data into my HFM application.
My ERPi application is like this :
1 source application that is EBS.
1 target application that is HFM.
15 EBS Set of books, for which i think i have to create 15 import formats in ERPi for each set of books. this also implies to the locations.
then I have to do the common period mapping and category mapping.
in the Data load Setup: I have to select each location and do the member mapping. create a data load rule for each location.
FDM Application:
i already have an FDM application which i am using to import data from EBS to HFM using ERPi, till now i have only used 1 set of books just to verify that everything is working fine. now as everything is working fine with the application, I want to add additional import formats in the existing FDM application to answer the import formats and locations created in the ERPi application.
Is it possible to do like this, if so then i need your assistance in achieving this task.
please put your comments in this regards.
Thanks,
Shantan KommeraYou can do this by specifiying the appropriate data load rule to be used by ERPi within Integration Option 1 in the location. This will kick off the data load rule you specify in ERPi that should be tied to the corresponding set of books in EBS.

Import Format for Separte Debit and Credit Columns (comma delimited file)
I have a file that is comma delimited with a sparate debit column and a separate credit column:
Sample:
Ent,Acct,description,Dr,Cr
,1000,test,100,
,110010,another test,,100
My import format is this:
Comma delimited
Field Number Number of Fields Expression
Entity 1 5 SGB_ABC
Account 2 5
Amount 5 5 Script=DRCRSplit_Comma_Del.uss
I've tried writing the following script to pull the amount from the debit column into the credit column but it just skips the lines with no amount in field 5.
'Declare Variables
Dim Field4
Dim Field5
'Retrieve Data
Field4 = DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 4, 4, ",")
Field5 = DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 5, 5, ",")
'If Field4 has a value then fld 5 is to equal fld 4.
If IsNumeric(Field5) Then
Field5 = Field5
Else
Field5 = Field4
End If
'Return Result into FDM
SQFLD5 = Field5
End Function
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks!I got it to work using this script:
Function DRCR_Comma_Del(strField, strRecord)
'Hyperion FDM DataPump Import Script:
'Created By: testuser
'Date Created: 7/22/2009 9:31:15 AM
'Purpose: If Amount is in the DR column move it to the CR amount column.
Dim DR
Dim CR
DR = DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 5, 4, ",")
CR = DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 5, 5, ",")
If IsNumeric(DR) Then
strField = DR
Else
strField = "-" & CR
End If
DRCR_Comma_Del = strField

Import configuration and ICM scripts into ICM 7.5X
Hi all.
I just want to find out if it is possible to export configuration & ICM routing/ Admin scripts from ICM 6.0 into ICM 7.5X? I understand that there is an import/export function in the ICM script editor. Can I just export the scripts from ICM script editor 6.0 and import them into ICM script editor 7.5X?
Appreciate any comment and advice.
Thanks & Regards,
EricWhen you use the EDMT to upgrade your Logger database to be compatible with the 7.5 Schema, all your scripts will be converted. So nothing to do here.
If you have a 7.5 system (say in the lab) and want to try to export a script in .ICMS format and try to import into a 7.5 script editor, it may very well work. Never tried it myself. You sure have to have a bunch of config in place before importing any script otherwise "unresolved" references - and you can deal with that.
What is your aim?

Import Format script required to update multiple fields
Further to my previous post yesterday (Import Format script required to work across multiple fields I now need my import script to update multiple (two) fields at the same time, based on criteria set across multiple fields. So far, I can use DW.Utilities.fParseString to assess the values across multiple fields, but I now need to update not only the field in question, but also an additional field at the same time. For example:
Function TBService(strField, strRecord)
' How do I update a second field at the same time?
Dim strField2 As String
If Left(strField, 1) = "S" Then
If DW.Utilities.fParseString (strRecord, 3, 8, ",") = "B1110" Then
strField2 = "N101"
Else
strField2 = "Network N/A"
End If
TBService = strField
Else
TBService = "Service N/A"
End If
End Function
Is this even possible? Should I be looking at creating an event script which would work post-import? Or can this be done right here in the import script?All the logic you require can be encapsulated in the import script for the second field. You don't need to reference the second field in the first import script.

Paragraph format and character format in script
hi expects,
what is the difference between paragraph format and character format in script?Hi Rohit,
Paragraph formats control the formatting of paragraphs in SAPscript whereas Character formats are used for text formatting within paragraphs.
Character formats will have Standard attributes like Bold, Italic, Underline, Font family, Font size etc.
Paragraph formats will standard attributes of Character formats and in addition to this, they will margins, Indents, tabs, Alignments, Line spacing and delimeters.
