Import from another CP2 Project

I have slides 1 to 10 on my main file. I want to import
slides 1-34 from another CP2 Project but the import starts at Slide
1 on my main file and overwrties?
Any Ideas on how I can direct the import to start at the last
slide of my main?
Cheers
Mik

Hello LawStudent,
As a matter of interest what happens if you select the last
slide in your project using the Filmstrip and then perform the
import. Does your slide then still get overwritten?

  • Importing from another catalog

Does "Import from another catalog" import photos already in the target catalog (i.e. duplicates), or only photos not already there?

The import from another catalog dialog box has several options that you can select or not, as you see fit.
    See item 5 here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS9616DD60-0C3A-484b-8413-053347F21456.html

Using numbers for roster information. Imported from another program. Now seem to have extra headers, one listing name, address, etc. & another A, B, C. They don't mesh & can't get rid of either. All info there, but can't change width of columns.

I think my problem is that I have inadvertently created three tables (I only want one). I have included a screen shot of the light grey line under B and the words Table 1 behind it.

  • Import from Excel to Project - blanks cells are having dates automatically added

Hi. I'm very new to Project but have started setting up a Roadmap using it which is working fairly well so far, although have hit one snag.
I have data in Excel: it is a list of projects with 4 columns containing the dates of various stages (planning, initiate, execute, close). I have created a reusable map so this can be imported into Project and the Gantt chart to show pre-defined markers
on the timeline for each stage on each project row. All well and good so far.
However, not all of the projects in Excel have all of their dates defined. E.g. a project might not yet have a close date. But when this is imported into Project a date gets applied for it. I have no idea why!
How do i get the import into Project to allow any blank cells from Excel to remain as blank so that nothing is plotted on the Gantt chart for that particular section?

Thanks for both of your replies. I have tried this and the same issue occurs. I have checked each row in the imported Project data and they are all showing as set to 'manually selected' yet at some point in the import Project is adding data to blank cells.
I have retried using a simple test excel sheet and when this too is mapped into Project, any blank cells get populated with the date that appeared in the preceding row for some reason:
I can then go through and manually delete this cell in Project (which then replaces it with an "NA") - but if i have to manually do this whenever importing from Excel into Project then it makes it very time consuming.
Surely there must be a way for Project to not auto-populate blank cells? Or am i missing something fundamental?

  • Why is Lightroom 5.4 not recognizing existing photos when importing from another catalog?

I have lightroom 5.4 now updated on my studio desktop computer and my laptop when working in the field. I have a folder of images on both computer catalogs and that inlcudes the negatives on each computer. I made a bunch of edits and changes on my laptop of that folder of images and then exported the changes as a catolog to import into my studio catalog but lightroom doesn't recognize the photos when I import from another catalog. Lightroom tries to add the photos as another folder even though the negatives are there and they are already imported into the desktop catog. Why doen't lightroom recognize they are the same images when I'm importing as catalog? I've always done this with past versions of Lightroom with no problems. I'm just exporting the previews since the negative files are already on both computers. What is wrong?

The folder hierarchy has to be exactly the same; the slightest thing can throw it off, an upper case on one machine and lower case on the other or a misspelling.

  • LR5: Import from another catalog - can't copy

From LR4 on my desktop PC, I used to be able to select File->Import From Another Catalog..., navigate to a catalog on a networked laptop, select which photos/dates I want to import, then choose to Copy Photos to a New Location and Import. This would both copy the photos over the network to my desktop, and add the photos to my desktop LR catalog - in one step. Always worked great for me for getting travel laptop photos back into my main desktop & LR catalog.
Both desktop and laptop recently upgraded to LR5. But now when I try this same procedure - the "Import From Another Catalog..." dialog no longer has the option to Copy Photos to a New Location and Import.  The only options are Add New Photos To Catalog Without Moving and Don't Import New Photos.
Of course I can work around this by doing it with 2-3 extra steps: I can import over the network like above, but choose Add New Photos to Catalog Without Moving and then later copy the files & find the missing photos. Or export to a separate catalog & copy everything, etc.
So what happend to the Copy Photos to a New Location and Import option in LR5? Was this option removed explicitly?  Or is there something else I'm missing (file path permissions, etc) that would cause the option to not be shown? Thanks.
    Lightroom 5 64-bit for Windows, ver 5.0
    Desktop: Windows 7 64-bit
    Laptop: Windows 8 64-bit

OK - never mind. I think I figured it out.
LR appears to only display the Copy Photos to a New Location and Import option when you have a drive letter mapped to the root of the remote volume where the images are stored (and where the remote network catalog is located). Just browsing to the catalog via UNC path doesn't seem to work. Basically, you have to trick LR into thinking the photos are on a local drive.
I think when this was working previously, my desktop probably did have a drive letter permanently mapped to my laptop drive root. That mapped drive seems to have disappeared during the laptop upgrade from Windows 7 -> Windows 8.  So no change in behavior between LR4 and LR5.
In general, I find this the quickest & simplest way to get travel photos from my laptop catalog back into my desktop catalog, when I return home from a trip.

  • Lightroom 5 (64-bit) Import from Another Catalog... will not complete.

Ok, here is the situation.  I have a LR4.4 cataloge that contains thousands of edits and all my publish services. File size is 1.2Gb.  I used the LR5 beta and would like to import the edits from that catalog as well as the edits and services from the LR4 catalog.
Here is what I have tried.  Open the LR4 catalog in LR5, tell it to upgrade the catalog for use with LR5.  This step works without any issues and the edits and services are present.  Now I tell LR5 to import from another catalog and select the LR5 beta catalog.  LR begins processing but will never complete.  Once it gets to checking for changes in duplicates it seems to hang.  Checking the Windows Task Manager reveals that LR5 is still processing, but I have let it sit for over a day and it will not complete the process.  I have also optimized both catalogs before attempting the import again, but that seemed to have no effect.
The system should have plenty of processing power being that it is an overclocked 6 core Phenom II running at 4.25GHz with 16GB of RAM, but it seems to just never finish.
    Ideas?

If that doesn't work I don't know what to suggest.
If that doesn't work, Dax_Morgan can use WreckHover to recover develop settings from the troublesome catalog. Note: it won't get any other metadata nor collections etc., and if Dax already has fresh xmp, that might be a preferred option. But, just so ya know...

  • After "upgrade" to new firefox, bookmarks didn't transfer. Help tells how to import from another browser but not old firefox. Also my anti virus (latest update) apparently not compatible with 4.0 Can I restore my old version

    Question
After "upgrading" to new firefox none of my bookmarks are in new bookmarks help topics tell me how to import from another browser but not from previous version of firefox. Another problem is my anti virus ( most up to date) is apparently not compatible with 4.0 liked the old firefox would never have "upgraded" had I known my anti virus wouldn't work. Can I get old version back

Check with Kaspersky as to what versions of Firefox their programs are compatible with. It is up to Kaspersky to keep their stuff up to date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. And if they are unwilling or incapable of doing it, they should inform their customers of such and maybe refund their customers instead of stringing them along.

  • How to export a photo album from my iphone that was previously imported from another mac?

Again, I'd like to export a photo album from my iphone to my mac. What is unique here is that the album was originally imported from another mac to my iphone. When I open iphoto on my mac it will import everything else but this particular album. It's from my old iphone that crashed but I was lucky enough to export the pics from my old phone to another mac and then import them to my new iphone. Great as that is, I'd still like to export them to my mac. HELP, thoughts, ideas

Sync it to your new computer.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync.

  • Importing from another catalog hangs up at "Checking for changed duplicate photos" in LR 4.3

Importing from another catalog hangs up at "Checking for changed duplicate photos" in LR 4.3.
I went on a vacation so exported a subset of my main LR catalog on my PC so I could do some work on my laptop.  I added some new photos and also editied some olde ones.
Now that I am back home, when I ty to Import from the smaller catalog into my Main Catalog on my PC, the Import from catalog process gets immediately stuck on the step "Checking for changed duplicate photos.'
How can I work around this?
Is this a new bug in 4.3?
    Thanks.
    John

Yes, the catalogs were optimized, but...the master catalog on my desktop is
    HUGE.  I mean...really, really, HUGE.
So, that probably explains the very long time it took?
But...I was confused at first, and really did think that LR was 'stuck'
while importing from the smaller catalog and "Checking for changed duplicate
    photos".
Next time, I'll just be more patient.
And...in the end, everything went as it should, and I now have all my edits
and new photos incorporated into my HUGE catalog on my desktop.

  • Problem with importing a clip from another iMovie project

    Hello
I want to import a clip from one iMovie project to another iMovie project.
Both projects are in 16:9, but when I import a clip it's no longer in 16:9.
The clip is croped and I have a black bar on the right and left side.
How can I solve this ?
    Jufke

Have you tried Copying the clip in Project A and Pasting it into Project B?
When you Copy and Paste clips, try to Copy and Paste all at the same time. More here:

  • Importing Slides and Objects from another Captivate Project

    Hello,
I'm working in Captivate 4.  I am creating an updated version of a course which was also created in Captivate 4.  The course consists of slides imported from PowerPoint as well as screencaptures from an application.
To save time, rather than re-creating all the objects, I imported them from the older course.  However, after I did that, any attempt to insert any standard objects (rollover images in this case) gave me an error message and the application shut down.  The file is completely corrupted.  Does anyone have any idea why this happened?  The only other thing I can think of is that I do tend to copy and paste images onto slides (rather than using the insert functionality). Although most of the time, the application allows it, sometimes it locks up the course.  Could that be the culprit?  Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Seems indeed that something got corrupted, could be a slide (or more) or objects. But it is difficult to tell the real cause. To detect the culprit, try to copy to a new blank project (same resolution), but not all slides at once. How did you copy/paste images: from another application or between slides? If it is from a graphical app please use the Insert function to preserve quality.

  • How to I import a folder from another FCP Project?

I come from the Avid world where you can import a bin from one project directly into another. Is is possible to do this in FCP? I have this one folder
with all my music in it which I created in the first project and I'm trying to import this music folder into different projects.
Should I have created a project called music and just open that project everytime I wanted to use music for different projects?
    Patch2000

    I have this one folder
with all my music in it which I created in the first
project and I'm trying to import this music folder
    into different projects.
I think you should simply organize your Music into a Folder on your computer. When you're doing a project that needs music... point to/import from this folder. No need to import every piece of music you have in your library.
You can audition your music outside of FCP then import what you need. It's the same with Motion Backgrounds too.

  • Any way to import from another drive and leave clips in place?

    Hi
Is there any way to import from other drives where you can leave your media in place?
Whenever I've imported clips from another drive I had to copy them to the library, while clips on the same drive as the library I could leave in place. Besides getting a bit tired of FCP treating like a kid with Alzheimer's, what would one do, say, when a drive gets full? I could see big projects needing more than a single drive.

LIke Russ said, the copy of the entire folder structure is similar to creating a camera archive. This copy or archive is treated just as if it were a camera card - in particular, "leave in place" is not available, and you have the option go import just parts of clips if you want.
so technicay even though they reside in a hard drive this is like importing from camera, as opposed to "import from file".
I Will try to describe how I handle my media. I hope this will help clarify things a bit. I am not saying thus is the way to do things, but it is my way.
I keep archives of the camera cards, which I then erase and reuse.
I import clips from my camera archives which I store as external media (copying to a folder of my choosing instead of into the library). These movie files, plus other files that I get from other sources, can be later imported and used in other libraries using "leave in place".
And all of this of course needs to be regularly backed up.

  • How do I improve package loading performance in BIDS when I open a package which is imported from another place?

[This is just for sharing information for those common asked questions collected from forums. If you have any better way or feedback, please directly reply in this thread so that community users can benefit from your answers.]
    Question:
I have a SSIS package which has some execution problem in production environment and I need to check it and perform debugging on my local machine, however when I add the package into my SSIS project and open it in BIDS, my BIDS hangs for a long time.
    Answer:
This issue is usually caused by the fact that your SSIS package is complex with many tasks including many connection managers. When you open the SSIS package in BIDS, by default the validation process on each task will start. Since your SSIS package is copied
from another place, the connections may be invalid. In this case, the validation process will spend a lot of time and cause the BIDS not working during this time.
To resolve this issue, you can do as follows:
1.Before you add the SSIS package, select your SSIS project first, then click the SSIS menu, and change your SSIS project to Offline mode by checking "Work Offline".
2.Add your SSIS package to the project and change each Task's DelayValidation property to True.
3.After these steps, you can modify the connections to be valid based on your local test environment.
