Import from another system
Hi,
our Peoplesoft system is :oracle 10g R2, tools 8.49. We are creating another one , also with oracle 10g R2. We have done a full export of Oracle database :
expdp system/password@MYDB DIRECTORY=dpump_dir1 DUMPFILE=exp_ful_MYDB_PROD_230109 FULL=Y Logfile=expMYDB_230109.logNow to import to new database, should I import FULL :
impdp system/password@newdb DUMPFILE=EXP_FUL_MYDB.DMP LOGFILE=ALAIN.log FULL=Yor to a schema :
impdp sysadm/***@NEWDB DUMPFILE=EXP_FUL_MYDB.DMP SCHEMAS=sysadm LOGFILE=import.logMany thanks
Since a Peoplesoft database is not only one schema, but at least three (PS, PEOPLE and the objects owner - SYSADM), a full import should do the trick.
It could be some different path depending how you built the target database where you are doing the import into.
Nicolas.

Hi All, We are in to Release 11.5.10.2.There is a specific requirement to Prevent users from creating Manual Sales Orders in Oracle and yet users should be able to book the Sales Orders Imported from CRM system into Orcale. Please advise.
Thanks for your advise.
However, I missed to mention that we have two set of users One is for Finished Goods and another for Spares.
Only Spares users need to be prevented from creating Direct/Manual Sales Orders in Oracle.
As you suggested, if this will be done at Form level, that may Disallow FG users also to create Manula Sales Orders which should not be the case.
Further, I tried to test one scenario through Processing Constraints but it did not work.

Ok, here is the situation. I have a LR4.4 cataloge that contains thousands of edits and all my publish services. File size is 1.2Gb. I used the LR5 beta and would like to import the edits from that catalog as well as the edits and services from the LR4 catalog.
Here is what I have tried. Open the LR4 catalog in LR5, tell it to upgrade the catalog for use with LR5. This step works without any issues and the edits and services are present. Now I tell LR5 to import from another catalog and select the LR5 beta catalog. LR begins processing but will never complete. Once it gets to checking for changes in duplicates it seems to hang. Checking the Windows Task Manager reveals that LR5 is still processing, but I have let it sit for over a day and it will not complete the process. I have also optimized both catalogs before attempting the import again, but that seemed to have no effect.
The system should have plenty of processing power being that it is an overclocked 6 core Phenom II running at 4.25GHz with 16GB of RAM, but it seems to just never finish.

If that doesn't work I don't know what to suggest.
If that doesn't work, Dax_Morgan can use WreckHover to recover develop settings from the troublesome catalog. Note: it won't get any other metadata nor collections etc., and if Dax already has fresh xmp, that might be a preferred option. But, just so ya know... -
Importing from another catalog
Does "Import from another catalog" import photos already in the target catalog (i.e. duplicates), or only photos not already there?
The import from another catalog dialog box has several options that you can select or not, as you see fit.
See item 5 here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS9616DD60-0C3A-484b-8413-053347F21456.html -
Using numbers for roster information. Imported from another program. Now seem to have extra headers, one listing name, address, etc. & another A, B, C. They don't mesh & can't get rid of either. All info there, but can't change width of columns.
I think my problem is that I have inadvertently created three tables (I only want one). I have included a screen shot of the light grey line under B and the words Table 1 behind it.

I have lightroom 5.4 now updated on my studio desktop computer and my laptop when working in the field. I have a folder of images on both computer catalogs and that inlcudes the negatives on each computer. I made a bunch of edits and changes on my laptop of that folder of images and then exported the changes as a catolog to import into my studio catalog but lightroom doesn't recognize the photos when I import from another catalog. Lightroom tries to add the photos as another folder even though the negatives are there and they are already imported into the desktop catog. Why doen't lightroom recognize they are the same images when I'm importing as catalog? I've always done this with past versions of Lightroom with no problems. I'm just exporting the previews since the negative files are already on both computers. What is wrong?
The folder hierarchy has to be exactly the same; the slightest thing can throw it off, an upper case on one machine and lower case on the other or a misspelling.

LR5: Import from another catalog - can't copy
From LR4 on my desktop PC, I used to be able to select File->Import From Another Catalog..., navigate to a catalog on a networked laptop, select which photos/dates I want to import, then choose to Copy Photos to a New Location and Import. This would both copy the photos over the network to my desktop, and add the photos to my desktop LR catalog - in one step. Always worked great for me for getting travel laptop photos back into my main desktop & LR catalog.
Both desktop and laptop recently upgraded to LR5. But now when I try this same procedure - the "Import From Another Catalog..." dialog no longer has the option to Copy Photos to a New Location and Import. The only options are Add New Photos To Catalog Without Moving and Don't Import New Photos.
Of course I can work around this by doing it with 2-3 extra steps: I can import over the network like above, but choose Add New Photos to Catalog Without Moving and then later copy the files & find the missing photos. Or export to a separate catalog & copy everything, etc.
So what happend to the Copy Photos to a New Location and Import option in LR5? Was this option removed explicitly? Or is there something else I'm missing (file path permissions, etc) that would cause the option to not be shown? Thanks.
Lightroom 5 64-bit for Windows, ver 5.0
Desktop: Windows 7 64-bit
Laptop: Windows 8 64-bitOK - never mind. I think I figured it out.
LR appears to only display the Copy Photos to a New Location and Import option when you have a drive letter mapped to the root of the remote volume where the images are stored (and where the remote network catalog is located). Just browsing to the catalog via UNC path doesn't seem to work. Basically, you have to trick LR into thinking the photos are on a local drive.
I think when this was working previously, my desktop probably did have a drive letter permanently mapped to my laptop drive root. That mapped drive seems to have disappeared during the laptop upgrade from Windows 7 -> Windows 8. So no change in behavior between LR4 and LR5.
In general, I find this the quickest & simplest way to get travel photos from my laptop catalog back into my desktop catalog, when I return home from a trip. -
Question
After "upgrading" to new firefox none of my bookmarks are in new bookmarks help topics tell me how to import from another browser but not from previous version of firefox. Another problem is my anti virus ( most up to date) is apparently not compatible with 4.0 liked the old firefox would never have "upgraded" had I known my anti virus wouldn't work. Can I get old version backCheck with Kaspersky as to what versions of Firefox their programs are compatible with. It is up to Kaspersky to keep their stuff up to date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. And if they are unwilling or incapable of doing it, they should inform their customers of such and maybe refund their customers instead of stringing them along.

How to export a photo album from my iphone that was previously imported from another mac?
Again, I'd like to export a photo album from my iphone to my mac. What is unique here is that the album was originally imported from another mac to my iphone. When I open iphoto on my mac it will import everything else but this particular album. It's from my old iphone that crashed but I was lucky enough to export the pics from my old phone to another mac and then import them to my new iphone. Great as that is, I'd still like to export them to my mac. HELP, thoughts, ideas
Sync it to your new computer.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync. -
Importing from another catalog hangs up at "Checking for changed duplicate photos" in LR 4.3
Importing from another catalog hangs up at "Checking for changed duplicate photos" in LR 4.3.
I went on a vacation so exported a subset of my main LR catalog on my PC so I could do some work on my laptop. I added some new photos and also editied some olde ones.
Now that I am back home, when I ty to Import from the smaller catalog into my Main Catalog on my PC, the Import from catalog process gets immediately stuck on the step "Checking for changed duplicate photos.'
How can I work around this?
Is this a new bug in 4.3?
Thanks.
JohnYes, the catalogs were optimized, but...the master catalog on my desktop is
HUGE. I mean...really, really, HUGE.
So, that probably explains the very long time it took?
But...I was confused at first, and really did think that LR was 'stuck'
while importing from the smaller catalog and "Checking for changed duplicate
photos".
Next time, I'll just be more patient.
And...in the end, everything went as it should, and I now have all my edits
and new photos incorporated into my HUGE catalog on my desktop.

Recovery onto hard drive from another system - Pavilion 790n
This old computer was scrapped and hard drive is being used in another system.
I've decided to let the kids use it and have it up and running again, but used a hard disk from an old emachine computer - I thought I'd wiped it clean, but didn't remove the recovery partition
The system installed Windows & drivers from this recovery partition and works decently, but all of the drivers etc. are the ones from the old emachine and none of the HP system specific drivers are installed. (I do not have the HP recovery disks)
I'm not sure how much is missing as it has only been up and running for a few hours, but I know I don't have any of the dvd drivers.
Q1: Should I wipe the hard disk clean again and start fresh or can I add the drivers I need?
Q2: How do I get every driver I need for this system? The page for this system shows none of the hardware drivers I need. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=75924...
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hello there SeeBryte!: why not look at your device manager then write down what you see there(it's a listing of all of your components in your PC then go either to www.google.com or www.bing.com there at either one there is a rectangle where you enter the name of each component after that you go to the website of whatever manufactureed the component
& look for your drivers there.
then I'd do the same to all your programs
ultimately I'd buy a retail box of windows 7 or Vista & install it via the clean install (formats it to start over again)
good luck
hope this helps

Data import from old system to new system, key by raw16 column
hi, experts,
now, I have a new system, the system design is to use raw(16) column as key column in all database tables.
of course, when new system goes live (in production), all new transaction records are written to new system database.
when the new system inserts new records, it handles itself to avoid conflicts by value of the raw(16) key column
I now face this issue:
I need to import data from old system to new system, I use sys_guid() to fill up the raw(16) column in new system database.
how can I avoid the conflict from value of raw(16) column between old system data and new system database data?
the sql I write is very simple:
insert into new_sys_table_a (key_column_raw_16, ..., ... )
select sys_guid(), old_sys_col_a, old_sys_col_b
from old_sys_table_a;Manik wrote:
Hi,
Can you try this as a synch script (you can call so), sys_guid is a sequence, so just run through till u have sequence surpassing your old sequence. Give it a try.. I did not test it, but algorithm might be helpful for you.. Since when did sys_guid become a sequence that can be compared to other sys_guid's to know if it's been surpassed or not?

Any way to import from another drive and leave clips in place?
Hi
Is there any way to import from other drives where you can leave your media in place?
Whenever I've imported clips from another drive I had to copy them to the library, while clips on the same drive as the library I could leave in place. Besides getting a bit tired of FCP treating like a kid with Alzheimer's, what would one do, say, when a drive gets full? I could see big projects needing more than a single drive.
best
elmerLIke Russ said, the copy of the entire folder structure is similar to creating a camera archive. This copy or archive is treated just as if it were a camera card - in particular, "leave in place" is not available, and you have the option go import just parts of clips if you want.
so technicay even though they reside in a hard drive this is like importing from camera, as opposed to "import from file".
I Will try to describe how I handle my media. I hope this will help clarify things a bit. I am not saying thus is the way to do things, but it is my way.
I keep archives of the camera cards, which I then erase and reuse.
I import clips from my camera archives which I store as external media (copying to a folder of my choosing instead of into the library). These movie files, plus other files that I get from other sources, can be later imported and used in other libraries using "leave in place".
And all of this of course needs to be regularly backed up. -
Assign User Task According to Hierarchy From Another System
Hi all.
I am new in Oracle BPM, I'm doing a project where I have to perform a relatively simple approval workflow.
My problem, is actually in associating people who should make approvals to set up reports.
My BPM project is integrated with LDAP (AD - Active Directory), but the staff hierarchy is on another system.
As I am very new in technology do not know the tools to implement the integration with other hierarchies system, I know it is possible to perform an integration via REST (which is what I need).
I would like an opnion on how I can make this integration.
An example of what I need:
John - Operator of human resources
Mark - Manager of the Human Resources
John will open admission report of a new Official, at the time that he send the request for approval, I will need to access this other system to know you're above it, in this case would MARK and send the Report for MARK.
Could someone give me a help how to do this? Some steps or tips on how to find or which component used within the JDeveloper.
I appreciate any and all help. Thank you for your attentionHere is a post by Marcel van de Glind from AMIS on how this is done: Humantask Assignment: Assignment via External Routing - AMIS Blog
It's far better than any documentation I've ever seen on the subject. He goes through how to do External Routing for human tasks step-by-step. This would let you call your external system to determine the participant to assign the instance to.

Import from another CP2 Project
I have slides 1 to 10 on my main file. I want to import

As a matter of interest what happens if you select the last
slide in your project using the Filmstrip and then perform the
import. Does your slide then still get overwritten?
