Import objects to an existing user

Hello,
I need to import objects from production database to development database. Into development database tables, indexes,... already exist so what should I do in order to get exactly the same in development and production databases?
Is there any parameter for IMP command overwrites existing objects in database?
Should I remove owner and all objects before execute IMP?
In case I remove owner and all objects, should I create user before execute IMP?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Carles

IF you're in 10g, you have a solution by usage of impdb with TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION parameter set to REPLACE<br>

  • ORA- 31684 Object type already exists while import

    Hi All,
    I wrongly imported a user schema "AP_PD@SRV01" to user "A_IT@SRV02" (Instead of "AP_IT@SRV02").
    User AP_IT and Tablespaces are already exists and used remap option while import.
    remap_schema=AP_PD:A_IT (instead of mapping to user AP_IT, I misspelled as A_IT)
    remap_tablespace=AP_PD_DATA:AP_IT_DATA remap_tablespace=AP_PD_INDEX:AP_IT_INDEX
    After successful import to "A_IT@SRV02", I deleted the user "A_IT"
    SQL> DROP USER A_IT CASCADE;
    I restarted the import to the correct user schema .. i.e AP_IT@SRV02
    remap_schema=AP_PD:AP_IT remap_tablespace=AP_PD_DATA:AP_IT_DATA remap_tablespace=AP_PD_INDEX:AP_IT_INDEX
    and import was completed with the following errors

    My questions ...
    1.Can I assume that import was success as these objects were already exists.
    2.Does this effect in anyway to the end users if I ignore this errors assuming import was successful.
    3.If import is not a success then what should be my next step to import successfully.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.You mentioned AP_IT schema and tablespaces already exist before doing first import itself.
    Did you check the list of objects in AP_IT schema before performing import?
    The following error is just an informational message and can be ignored:
    ORA-31684: Object type USER:"AP_IT" already exists
    But, the other 2 errors which says that package +"AP_IT"."DBMS_NUMSYSTEM" already exists+ means you have package in AP_IT schema and it wasn't replaced from the dump you imported. If you need the package from the dumpfile, you can drop the package and can import PACKAGE alone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help Importing objects from 1 user to another user and problem with trigger

    Hello community, i am having a little difficulty with the exporting objects from one user to another specifically the exporting of the trigger.
    Here is the situation, because of SOX purpose whenever a update is sent to the client the dba have to execute the script as himself (priviliged user) and is not allowed to log into the schema to make changes. Therefore we perpend the object definitions with &user_schema.. and they define user_schema in sqlplus and execute the update script.
    Here is a small example which requires two users (user1 and user2) with the following grants (connect, create table, create trigger, create view, create sequence). Please forgive the naming of the objects, just trying to be as simple as possible.
    I start out by logging in as system user via sqlplus and execute the following.
    ------------------Begin sqlplus----------------------
    define user_schema=user1;
    create table &user_schema..abc01 (
      col1 number,
      col2 varchar2(20),
      col3 number,
      constraint pk_abc01_col1 primary key (col1)
    create table &user_schema..xyz01 (
      col1 number,
      col2 varchar2(20),
      col3 number,
      constraint pk_xyz01_col1 primary key (col1)
    create or replace view &user_schema..view1 as
    select x.col1, x.col2, x.col3, a.col1 as acol1, a.col2 as acol2, a.col3 as acol3
    from xyz01 x
    inner join abc01 a on a.col1 = x.col1;
    create sequence &user_schema..seq_xyz01 start with 1 increment by 1;
    create or replace trigger &user_schema..trig01
    before insert on &user_schema..xyz01 for each row
    begin
      if (nvl(:new.col1, -1) = -1) then
        select seq_xyz01.nextval into :new.col1 from dual;
      end if;
    end;
    /--------------------End sqlplus----------------------
    I would then proceed to export using the exp utility via the command line
    exp system/systempassword file=user1.dmp owner=user1
    Then import user1 objects into user2
    imp system/systempassword file=user1.dmp fromuser=user1 touser=user2
    Now the problem:
    When i take a look at the sql for user2 trigger (trig01) i see the following (viewed via sqldeveloper)
    create or replace TRIGGER "USER2".trig01
    before insert on user1.xyz01 for each row
    begin
      if (nvl(:new.col1, -1) = -1) then
        select seq_xyz01.nextval into :new.col1 from dual;
      end if;
    end;its referring to user1.xyz01 table, however i want it to point to is user2.xyz01 table. Can someone please help me out or offer another solution to go about this because i need the ability to import the objects into a different user without the import failing and having to recompile the object.
    I've also tried executing this while connected as system user via sqlplus:
    define user_schema=user1
    create or replace trigger &user_schema..trig01
    before insert on xyz01 for each row
    begin
      if (nvl(:new.col1, -1) = -1) then
        select seq_xyz01.nextval into :new.col1 from dual;
      end if;
    end;
    /but that fails stating that table or view does not exist, please help
    however that fails because i

    When performing an update in their system, the same script will be run with different values, thats not the problem.
    The client currently have just that one schema in their environment, however they want to have another instance of the application set up in their environment (same database) and have that go off on its own track separate from the original application.
    Now when we do an exp of the schema and the imp it into another user it get imported, however its incorrect. As stated before the trigger will be acting on the table in the original schema when it should be acting on the table in the newly imported schema.
    I suppose there is no other way around this when a trigger is created the way in which i outlined above. I guess after the data gets imported into a different user the trigger would have to be recompiled to point to the correct table.
    If you have an alternate solution to go about this i am open to suggestions. However like i mentioned in the original post because of SOX purpose the dba is not allowed to log in and execute update scripts as the schema user. The scripts should only be executed as that privileged user (dba).
    Also if i hard code the user when the trigger is created
    create or replace trigger user1.trig01
    before insert on user1.xyz01 for each row
    begin
    if (nvl(:new.col1, -1) = -1) then
    select seq_xyz01.nextval into :new.col1 from dual;
    end if;
    end;
    /it still doesn't get imported the way that i want it to be imported in user2
    create or replace TRIGGER "USER2".trig01
    before insert on user1.xyz01 for each row
    begin
      if (nvl(:new.col1, -1) = -1) then
        select seq_xyz01.nextval into :new.col1 from dual;
      end if;
    end;now when i do an insert to test
    insert into user1.xyz01 (col2, col3) values ('abc', 123); -- Works fine, no problems here
    insert into user2.xyz01 (col2, col3) values ('abc', 123);Results in an error ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("USER2".XYZ01"."COL1") because the trigger doesn't exist on user2.xyz01 table.
    Just try and create the schema like how i outlined above in your environment to see what i'm talking about. It seems that the only way to get the trigger to be imported the way i want it to is to actually log in as that user and create the trigger.
    sqlplus user1/user1
    {code}
    create or replace trigger trig01
    before insert on xyz01 for each row
    begin
    if (nvl(:new.col1, -1) = -1) then
    select seq_xyz01.nextval into :new.col1 from dual;
    end if;
    end;
    {code}

  • Importing one schema to different user name

    How can I import one schema (all objects of a user) to another user's name in same database?
    When I tried to run import, I found import expects that same user name and tablespace name should exist in target database.
    Tnanx

    imp help=y" will show all available options << and imp is documented in the Utilities manual which will explain the parameters that are not obvious.When doing a fromuser touser import you may encounter some object validation errors for third party owned objects that are referenced in stored code (packages, functions, procedures) and views if the touser does not have privileges on them or the objects do not exist in the target database.

  • Importing object privileges

    I have this question about schema based export/import. 10.2.0.4 db.
    With old export/import utility if I
    -- export user A
    -- export user B
    -- import user A in another db. Since user B does not exist I correctly get some errors for object privileges user B has on objects owned by user A
    -- import user B. Those privileges are now imported. Old import utility imports object privs that user B owns on user A's objects
    With expdp/impdp utility if I
    -- export user A
    -- export user B
    -- import user A in another db. Since user B does not exist I correctly get some errors for object privileges user B has on objects owned by user A
    -- import user B. Those object privileges are NOT imported. Impdp does not import object privs that user B owns on user A's objects.
    Is there anything I am missing???
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Alle,
    if i have understood your question correctly then you want to import the grants of user A to user B.
    it is possible only if you have the EXP_FULL_DATABASE or IMP_FULL_DATABASE role is attached to your profile.
    If you have no EXP_FULL_DATABASE role, you can only export your own schema. If you have EXP_FULL_DATABASE role, you can export several schemas in one go. Optionally, you can include the system privilege grants as well.
    Thanks.

  • Object does not exist :  MESSAGE OL 826 - Production issue

    R/3 release 4.6C
    Transaction: FB03
    Custom WF:  Triggering events: FIPP-CREATE  and FIPP-COMPLETED
    When we try to post a document (journal) the workflow gets triggered and reaches the approver. The approver approves it and then it gets posted.
    Here in this case, after the approval the workflow running into error with u201Cmessage OL 826 Object does not existu201D
    When I click on the message I get this information
    Object does not exist   :   Message no. OL 826
    Diagnosis :   You tried to create an instance of the object type EMPLOYEET with the
                        key 1234520080603. No instance of this kind exists.
                    PERNR u2013 12345
         Date      - 03.06.2008
    I checked this using the FM P_EMPLOYEE_CHECKEXISTENCE and it is working fine there. This FM is used in EMPLOYEET object for existence check.
    Initially I thought the problem was with document and the buffer but after checking u201Cdiagnosisu201D message, it confirms me that this is related to Employee.
    This is happening only to one employee and all other have NO issues.
    I have checked with HR team and they reckon everything is fine from their side.
    Since this is in Prod I am unable to debug and test.
    I was looking into the previous forums to find the solution but couldnu2019t find RIGHT one. Could you please suggest any solution for this ?
    Your help greatly appreciated.

    Dear Mike/Martin,
            Could you please explain a bit about the authorization problem?
            PERNR    A, B, C, and D do the posting the docs through FB01 and PERNR  X usually do the approvals. the problem is happening onlyl with PERNR A ... if the approver has the auth problem then it could be same issue with other...  please correct me if I am wrong.
        As Martin suggested I have contacted HR team but they say .... they dont see anything different or changes for this EMP.  The personal record is coming from the EVENT FIPP-CREATE or COMPLETED so there is no manual interaction.
    Just guessing: if this is the problem for all the employees then what could be the reason ? guessing that in random it is happening to this emp. He has posted 6 docs....all of them have the same issue. I checked last 3 months records and I did see Couple of workflows in last 3 months with the same error....  so just thinking if this is the problem with all emp happens onlly ramdomly.
    Thoughts ??
    Thanks & Regards,

    Any and all help is always greatly appreciated.
    Robert

    Hi Guys,
    Thank you both for your responses, my findings are as follows:
    1. HOST=X.X.COM, ensure host is reachable : PING works and host(s) are reachable.
    2. In RAC Env, ensure TNS Name is correctly spelled, spelling fine, i can connect with the tns name (is TNS name same as SERVICE_NAME?) by: sqlplus 'user/user@racenv'; but my efforts still will not allow me to use:
    sqlplus 'user/user' it tells me that the host or object is does not exist, does this refer to the actual physical machine or the service name, or the instance name?
    All host entries in my tnsnames.ora file refer to the vip addresses of both servers holding the rac installation, and both are resolved just fine, testing with ping; any other way to test this?
    tnsnames file contains CONNECTION strings in the following order (does the listener entry need to be in the file? on the machine that i am trying to connect from?):
    LISTENER_ORCLTELE =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.9)(PORT = 1521))
    ORCLTELE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.9)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcltele)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC2))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    I tried removing all entries but the entry for MSRAC, but still no joy:
    MSRAC =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.12)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.13)(PORT = 1521))
    (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = MSRAC)
    (failover_mode =
    (type=select)
    (method=basic)
    (retries=180)
    (delay=5))
    Thanks again,
    Robert..
    In the sqlnet.log file the error is as follows:
    Fatal NI connect error 12545, connecting to:

  • How to import your MS Active Directory users in an Oracle table

    Hello,
    I first tried to get a Heterogenous Connection to my MS Active Directory to get information on my Active Directory users.
    This doesn't work so I used an alternative solution:
    How to import your MS Active Directory users in an Oracle table
    - a Visual Basic script for export from Active Directory
    - a table in my database
    - a SQL*Loader Control-file
    - a command-file to start the SQL*Loader
    Now I can schedule the vsb-script and the command-file to get my information in an Oracle table. This works fine for me.
    Just to share my scripts:
    I made a Visual Basic script to make an export from my Active Directory to a CSV-file.

    Greetings,
    Richard de Boer

    I have a table with about 50,000 records in my Oracle database and there is a date column which shows the date that each record get inserted to the table, for example 04-Aug-13.
    Is there any way that I can find out what time each record has been inserted?
    For example: 04-Aug-13 4:20:00 PM. (For my existing records not future ones)
    First you need to clarify what you mean by 'the date that each record get inserted'.  A row is not permanent and visible to other sessions until it has been COMMITTED and that commit may happen seconds, minutes, hours or even days AFTER a user actually creates the row and puts a date in your 'date column'.
    Second - your date column, and ALL date columns, includes a time component. So just query your date column for the time.
    The only way that time value will be incorrect is if you did something silly like TRUNC(myDate) when you inserted the value. That would use a time component of 00:00:00 and destroy the actual time.

  • System Copy -- database PRR conains user object belongs to system user dbo

    Hi all,
    I am having an issue while performing the system copy for the sql server.
    Actions taken so far.
    1.Detached the database.
    2.Installed central instance in the target system .
    3.Attached the database using attach as option.
    4.Then used STM coll for the conversion.
    5.Bought sap in Up condition.
    Before detaching the database made export for java addin abap in source system
    Then I am trying to import the java add in abap using sapinst(system copy option)..In the half of the way i am getting the below message as ..
    DATABASE QAS containus user object belongs to system user dbo.
    I have performed the 551915 , 151603 but the still the same message is dispalying.

    Hi,
    what do you get executing this statement:
    use <SID>
    go
    select * from sys.objects where schema_id =
    (select schema_id from sys.schemas where name = 'dbo')
    go

  • Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

    Hello,
    I've installed XE 10.2 under Fedora Core 7 from the downloaded .rpm. The RPM installs fine, and I've run the config from the command line. I've edited my bash file to load the environment variables. Here's my hosts file:
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx hostname hostname.domain
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    When I start the oracle-xe service from the services interface, I get this:

    with the HOST name filled in. None of the messages I've searched though on this forum relate to this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    ps. I'm running this on my local machine.

    Thanks! that got most of my listener up and running. I now get this:
