Import only a procedure or functions from a dump file
helllo
i have an entire dump file of a database.and i want to import only two procedures from the dump file.i am using oracle 9i.
suppose AFRES.DMP is the dump file and CALC_PENSION is the package i want to import from AFRES.DMP to my PRIME database.
Regards sourav
What I'd do is import (with ROWS=N) the schema containing the packages you want into a new schema, then copy the things you want to your destination schema. I think this is the only way to do this selectively.
Cheers,
Colin

Import only stored procedure packages
Hi,
I would like to import only stored procedure packages, procedures and functions (don't want
tables, views, etc.) from a dump file.
Can I do that?You can use exclude parameter of Datapump Import to exclude the tables and views.To know how to exclude tables this thread is helpful
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=425226
And also for exclude and include this link is helpful

Call a PL/SQL procedure or function from applet
Could anyone please let me know how I could call a PL/SQL procedure
or function from a JDBC method from applet with Internet Explorer?It depends from where you are calling your PLSQL routine. If it is SQL*Plus then you can use & (ampersand) with the variable to be input at run time.
If you are executing the PLSQL routine from another application (some front end application) then it's not possible. Because when a procedure is executing at server side, the front end application does not have control, and the control is only transfered back to front end application when the PLSQL routine either completes successfully or throws an exception.
In either case, you can not go back to the PLSQL routine.
In this case, what you can do is, write code in your front end application to get that variable value from user and then pass that value to PLSQL routine. -
Procedure and Functions from ADF View Layer
Hi,
Before i ask my question ,I would like to mention that I have done lot of googling on this topic before asking this question.
http://adfhowto.blogspot.in/2010/11/call-db-procedure-or-function-from-adf.html
http://adf-tools.blogspot.ca/2010/03/adf-plsql-procedure-or-function-call.html
Lot of threads on otn forum too on this topic.
I m pretty new to ADf too.
Now most of our logic is in procedures and functions ,so on various events on form(view layer) I need to call procedure and function and then return values back to value layer too.
Now the approach mentioned in the link above is good whats best approach to return out parameters to view layer considering i will be using either the DbCall class for all calls to procedures and functions
I am thinking of this approach to Create a view with static fields,and in Model layer set values for these fields and access them in view layer or binding view controls to these fields.
From View layer i will call the methods in AppmodImpl which will be calling procedure( methods will be exposed as Client Interface)
Also in few articles i came across generic CallStoredProcedure and CallStoredFunctions.
But my main concern is how to share out parameters with view layer....can anyone give link of showing application of it on view layer.
Regards,From your subject. am stating that, dont do all those stuff in backing bean. backing bean is 1:1 mapping with your .jpsx or .jsff .
best approach would be call those things your Application Module(model layer) exposed it. access the method over your pagedef. well said by ram. -

Hi,
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5.0.
=>How to do PL/SQL procedures and functions in ADF without calling stored procedure or function from DB?S, PL/SQL procedures and functions are done in Application Module class or in managed bean..By calling the stored procedures or functions from DB.

How to import only rows of tables from from a dump file
Good day,
I have impoted a schema from a dump files with option rows=n,(accordingly it should import only structure of the tables)
now i want to import rows for these tables in that schema. Kindly guide me how to do that. I have used below syntax for import.
imp userid=system/manager@testdb fromuser=abc touser=abc file=d:\abctest\
abc.dmp log=e:\abc15.log buffer=100000000 ignore=y constraints=n grants=n statistics=none rows=n;
Any help willbe much appriciated.
Regards
AnshHi Sybrand,
Thanx for the suggestion. Actually it is my fault that I had not explained the whole scenarion.
Let me explain it one by one...
(1) First i was importing a schema with rows=y option and I was getting some constraints error(can not insert NULL value in 'not null' column of some particular table) and import was unsuccesful.
(2) Then i desided to import only structure of the tables in that schema, and later disabled that constraint which was creating the problem.
(3) Now I m willing to import the data in these tables using that .dmp file, using rows=y, and this was my question if i m doing it in a right way or do i need to do some further step.
Hope this time i have made picture more clear.
Thanx a lot Hans and Sybrand
btw no wall around so can't bang my head :) -
Hi, I am working on Labview 8.0.
I am trying to communicate to a thrid party HW using the driver file he has provided to me.
The drive file is a *.lib file.
I am unable to call the function from the lib file.
I could get only from a DLL.
Pls help .

When it is possible in Lab Windows, why calling a function from a static library is prohibited?
I was trying to use Function node, but found that it is only for functions from a DLL file.
Will CIN be useful.?
LabWindows is not the same as LabVIEW. LabVIEW cannot call .lib files. LIB files are intermediary products and you need to use a wrapper DLL that's compatible with the object format of the .lib file. It's as simple as that. LabWindows creates C application and from that perspective is no different than a regular C
compiler. That's why you can call .lib files because that's how .lib
files are used.
A CIN, as pointed out, is something completely different and will not help you. -
How to call a function from a JAR file
Hi ALL,
I am trying to call a Public function from a JAR file from my JAVA
file. Can you please provide an example or suggest a good resource?
Basically my java file Test.Java should call a function called 'export_a_doc' from a JAR file Export.jar. How do I refer this in my Java file and call 'export_a_doc'?
ThanxHi,
HERE IS MY JAVA FILE
// We need this for Starting our Export Process
import com.newexport.Myclass;
public class MyTest {
// Our function to Start Export
protected static void test(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Starting. \n---------------------");
Myclass p = new Myclass();
try {
p.Start_Export(args);
System.out.println("Finished. \n---------------------");
} catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
public static void main(String[] args) {
test(args);
HERE IS THE BATCH FILE TO BUILD AND RUN
cd \JNI\Srcs
echo "-------------"
c:\JBuilder7\jdk1.3.1\bin\javac -classpath C:\JNI\Export.jar MyTest.java
echo "-------------"
\JBuilder7\jdk1.3.1\bin\java.exe -classpath c:\JNI\Export.jar MyTest
The Export.jar uses other jar files

Importing roles from a dump file question..
Hi All,
Is there a way of importing (using imp) ONLY roles from a dump file?
I have a dump file of a database from an oracle 9i - version 9.2.0.3 that I'm trying to import into oracle 11g. The import complains about roles not existing and the grants fails due to that.
Is there a way to import the roles 1st from the dmp file so that when I import the grants (grants=Y) I won't be getting these sort of errors:
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1917 encountered
ORA-01917: user or role 'RppT_ALL_ROLE' does not exist
IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1917:
"GRANT UPDATE ON "LOCATION_CONTACT" TO "RppT_ALL_ROLE""
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1917 encountered
ORA-01917: user or role 'RppT_ALL_ROLE' does not exist
...ThanksI'm guessing that you're referring to run this on the 9i database and then copy the output to the 11g DB if I'm not mistaken!?
Not possible as I don't have access to the 9i database. The DB is on the client side and they've given us a dump file. I'm trying to import the dump and then validate objects counts.
Is there a way to directly import the roles from the dmp file?
Thanks -

Calling an external C function from a C file in JNI
Hello,
I am trying to call an external C function, from a C file which is being called by a Java file. I am getting an unresolved symbol error. I have tried many things like, making the external C function in the format of JNI, etc, etc. It is still not working. I think it has something to do with linking the two C files. If anyone can please answer this, it would greatly help me. here is the code:
HelloWorld.c:
#include <jni.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include "MyOldHello.h"
#include "HelloWorld.h"
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
Java_HelloWorld_print(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj)
helloPrint();
return;
HelloWorld.java:
class HelloWorld
private native void print();
public static void main(String[] args)
new HelloWorld().print();
static
System.loadLibrary("HelloWorld");
System.loadLibrary("MyOldHello");
MyOldHello.c:
#include <jni.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include "MyOldHello.h"
void helloPrint()
printf("\nHello World!\n");
MyOldHello.h:
void helloPrint();
Now i use the Visual C++ command prompt to compile this by saying:
javac HelloWorld.java
javah -jni HelloWorld
cl -Ic:\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\include -Ic:\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\include\win32 -MD -LD HelloWorld.c -FeHelloWorld.dll
and now it gives me the error saying that there is an unresolved external symbol, which is the call to helloPrint in the file HelloWorld.
If anyone knows how to solve this, or how to call external C functions from a C file that is being called from a Java file using JNI, please respond.
Thanks
NickHi,
In your post on velocity review, you did not compile MyOldHello.c. You compiled a C file that included the header file for it and called a method defined in the header. The linker is never going to be able to find the code for this if you do not include the object file for this.
Try this. You will also have to add in any JNI libraries you need to link against but I am sure you could work that out.
cl /c MyOldHello.c
cl /c -Ic:\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\include -Ic:\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\include\win32 -MD HelloWorld.c
cl /LD MyOldHello.obj HelloWorld.obj /FeHelloWorld.dll

Use function from external Javascript file
Hi All,
Is it possible to use function from other javascript file. If possible then please post some example.
ShonkyAs Harbs mentioned, you can use doScript().
Maybe you can do something like this:
First I created simple function in separate file and exported it JSXBIN
function myAlert(myString){
alert(myString);
Then, I copied contents of that JSXBIN and put it into variable
var securedFUNCTION = app.doScript("@JSXBIN@ES@[email protected]AffABC40BhAB0AzHjNjZiBjMjFjSjUDAC0EzAEByB");
or
var securedFUNC = eval("@JSXBIN@ES@[email protected]AffABC40BhAB0AzHjNjZiBjMjFjSjUDAC0EzAEByB");
And simply called function
myAlert('My test String');
Also, you can use include external script with #include to call JSXBIN, but you need to wrap contents of JSXBIN file into doScript or eval().

Is it possible to view/get the table data from a dump file
I have dmp files generated using expdp on oracle 11g..
expdp_schemas_18MAY2013_1.dmp
expdp_schemas_18MAY2013_2.dmp
expdp_schemas_18MAY2013_3.dmp
Can I use a parameter file given below to get the table data in to the sql file or impdp the only option to load the table data in to database.
vi test1.par
USERID="/ as sysdba"
DIRECTORY=DATA
dumpfile=expdp_schemas_18MAY2013%S.dmp
SCHEMAS=USER1,USER2
LOGFILE=user_dump_data.log
SQLFILE=user_dump_data.sql
and impdp parfile=test1.par.Hi,
To explain more about my situation.
Target database has the dump files, where as the source database (cloud) doesn't have access to the target database.
However, I can request the target DB DBA team to run the par files and provide me the output like a SQL file which I can take and run it in my source database.
I got the metadata the same way, but is there any way I could get the data from the dump files on the target DB without actually accessing it? My question might sound weird, but please let me know.
<
1. export from the source into a dumpfile. You can do this on the source database and then copy the file over to your local database or you can do this from a local database if you have a database link defined on the local database that points to the source database. In the second case, your dumpfile will be created on your local database.

Haven't found a workaround for impdp utility. Anyone knows?Are you sure you are using the impdp utility correctly? Because if you do, then sqlfile should have all gory details.
