Import Progress Bar Stalled

Copying and importing images from my compact Flash card, the progress graph in the top left corner never completes, in fact it stays at about 15% complete. When I click the x to cancel the task and look for the files, they are there. The progress bar works fine on exporting files.
MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8, Canon 7D files

Curious bug here; I was able to download 40 images yesterday  and the progress bar acted as it should, as in LR3, but subsequent a download of 6 images this morning, the progress bar stalled as described in my first post; then just now I’m downloading 177 images and the bar is proceeding again as normal.
Could it be related to number of images? Because as posted above, when downloading one image it even refused to show it, whereas several are shown but the bar is not progressing and with many, the bar progresses.

    I'm having trouble upgrading to ITunes v12.0.1 with
    Win 7. Download progress bar stalls and eventually cancels itself. Have tried
    Tools --> Download Only, but same result. Have been using iTunes for 3+
    years without difficulty; I have lots of ram, hard drive and speed.
    Thanks for your input

    One step listed in the link to "helpful" info, was (when Iooked 30 seconds ago), to search for and download the newest version of iTunes. I'm running iTunes on Win 7 machine and was prompted to update today, 10.22.2014, and did so without a problem. Having said that, however, it looks as though the latest iTunes (12.0.1.26) is finally doing what the last version refused to do, which is to actually fully populate all my playlists on my 6, but there is a hitch: 12.0.1.26 will NOT allow you to show the sidebar unless you click on "playlists," that is, you cannot keep it open all the time.
    And, when plugging the 6 into the computer, the phone icon shows up but clicking on it does nada. What does work, for some strange reason, is clicking on the tiny icon (just under the "Store" menu link at top screen) which looks much like a tiny barrel, someone's idea of external drives, I suppose. The phone then comes up, with the list of stuff on the phone just under it where the sidebar used to be. Sync is now restricted to the lower right of the screen.
    Apparently, you will also need to update your iPhone's software as well; some friends with the 4 and 4s, however, had troubles with them after upgrading. The message from Silicon Valley (I can see Apple from my backyard, ha ha) is apparently, "keep upgrading," folks, get rid of those old phones.

  • Secure Empty Trash Progress Bar Stalls With 4 Items Left

    Greetings All,
    I've recently installed OS X 10.5.1 and have had pretty good luck. I just tried to use the Secure Empty Trash function and the progress bar seems to be stalled with 4 items left. The trash can did "empty" with the associated sound effect when the bar hit 4 items, but that's as far as the bar will go. I've forced quit and have restarted the computer, added more trash, and run Secure Empty Trash again, but it always seems to stall out with 4 items left
    Is there a way to make it go all the way to 0 items?
    Where can I look to confirm if any trash is actually left (the trash can is empty)?
    How can I be sure all my trash was securely destroyed?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Thank you very much for this input... it is helpful. I downloaded the program and I can see how it will be extremely handy. I didn't realize that there were enough problems with the finder emptying trash to result in programs written to help with it. It must be a large enough problem in the big picture, though.
    I looked through the developer's site and didn't see an indication regarding the type of emptying this program does (i.e. secure or normal). I am assuming it's a normal emptying of the trash.
    Thank you again.

  • IOS 6 progress bar stalled on reboot?

    I've gotten through the download and "preparation" to update to iOS 6 — I'm doing this over-the-air — and my iPhone 4S/64GB has been sitting on a boot screen (black screen with a logo and a progress bar) with a progress bar nine-tenths of the way "filled" for some time now. Is anyone else seeing this? Any ideas of what I should do about it?

    Millions are updating at the same time.  Leave your phone alone and it will progress, albeity slowly, but it will progress.

  • No Progress Bar when importing from Camera

    I just updated to iLife 06, and I noticed when I was importing new photo's into iPhoto 6, that the progress bar does not move. The photo's import fine, but I have no idea of the approximate time it will take, since the progress bar never shows up.
    Has anyone else seen this? Is there any pref files I can clean out to see if I can get this feature back?
    Thanks, and sorry if this has been discussed, but I could not find anything when searching the forums for this issue.
    - Bruce

    Well, I just imported 10 photo's and the progress bar worked. My previous import where the progress bar did not work, had 125 photo's, with two of them locked. I have removed the locked photo's, and removed the regular photo's, and now the progress bar works. I do not know if it was because there was 125 photo's or if it was because I had a few locked photo's, but now it seems to be working.
    I will test things out by locking some more photo's and seeing if the progress bar shows up when I import. I also chose to delete the original photo's after importing them.
    Has anyone else imported a lot of pictures, and had a few locked on the camera, and noticed if the progress bar works or not?

  • Slow Startup w/ Progress Bar - com.apple.SecurityServer stalling?

    Okay, I've noticed this issue for the past few months and it's quite annoying. Every time I restart my machine the progress bar comes up and the computer takes about 2 minutes to get past the Apple logo/progress bar. When I look at the Console it appears that the stall comes right after these three items:
    3/8/11 12:16:44 AM com.apple.SecurityServer[35] Session 0x22cf66 dead
    3/8/11 12:16:44 AM com.apple.SecurityServer[35] Killing auth hosts
    3/8/11 12:16:44 AM com.apple.SecurityServer[35] Session 0x22cf66 destroyed
    Then, about 2 minutes later kernel starts and the startup proceeds. Does anyone know what this could mean and how I go about fixing the problem? Thanks for the help!

    Sorry I cannot offer a solution, but I am having a similar problem.  My machine starts up just fine with no delay, so I am not expriencing the Apple logo/progress bar delay, but instead when I login to my machine the screen will go black and ask for my username and password a second time.  Also, sometimes after waking from sleep and entering my login credentials, the desktop will so up then go black for a short period before resuming.  My console output also has the three similar entries:
    5/13/11 11:29:21 AM          com.apple.SecurityServer[24]          Session 0x247439 dead
    5/13/11 11:29:21 AM          com.apple.SecurityServer[24]          Killing auth hosts
    5/13/11 11:29:22 AM          com.apple.SecurityServer[24]          Session 0x247439 destroyed

  • CF10 Mandatory update - stalls at progress bar

    Hello, I have tried a few times to install the mandatory update on CF10 following the instructions via cmnd prompt
    cd to C:\ColdFusion10\hf-updates where the downloaded cf10_mdt_updt.jar is located
    execute c:\ColdFusion10\jre\bin\java -jar cf10_mdt_updt.jar
    The intsaller runs fine and steps through the requisit steps - shuts down CF server fine - then commences to install only to freeze completely very early in progress bar. Im required to shut it down via the task-manager.
    I have tried many times... even reinstalling CF
    Does anyone have any suggestions
    IIS7.5
    Windows 7sp1
    CF10 Standard (and developer)

    How to fix this issue...
    - log into the windows safe mode to ensure that no other processes conflict with the update process. In safe mode non-essential processes and services do not run.
         > Start > Run> msconfig
         > switch to the "boot" tab and check > safe mode > select network option
         > switch to "General" tab > Selective startup > Select System services option only - For some reason if both default options are left it wont work
    shut down then start
    - enable the built-in administrator user account in windows (you can disable the account using the same command and replacing the yes parameter with no)
         > Start > Run > cmd > net user administrator /active:yes
    - log on to the newly enabled user account.
    - launch the windows command prompt in the administrator mode and change directory to the ColdFusion JRE at ( <root>\ColdFusion10\JRE).
    - Run the downloaded update jar : java -jar <update_jar_file_with_location>
    Apparently the issue was due to insufficient privileges. Even though the CF install was installed under the Windows 7 default install Full Administrator level account.
    It is not resolved by only launching the cmd line under 'run as' Administrator... this simply doesnt work under these circumstances.

  • HT1212 My ipad mini has been crashing a lot recently so I started a system reset. However, it's now stuck with the progress bar less than a quarter gone: this has been the case for several days now. I have tried resetting from itunes but it needs the pass

    Now it's stuck with the progress bar less than a quarter full. I have also tried resetting through itunes which works right up to the point where itunes states that it needs the passcode to be inputted into the ipad to connect to it. At which point it then sticks at the same progress bar point. HELP!! please, this ipad is really important to my work.

    Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
    The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
    Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.
    Good Luck

  • Intel iMac - won't start - grey screen & progress bar

    I have a 2006 Intel iMac - 20" model, Intel Core Duo, 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, etc.  It was one of the very earliest Intel iMacs.  Kept updated, running OS 10.6, etc.
    It has worked extremely well for over 5 years - apart from the Superdrive being temperamental sometimes - but has suddenly gone wrong.
    Last week the machine completely froze for no apparent reason.  I had to force a reboot.  This failed - grey screen and the grey spinning wheel (if that's what it's called), indefinitely.
    Forced reboot again and this time held down the shift key to go into safe boot mode.  This time it was successful, and I was able to get to the logon screen & log myself in.  I opened Disk Utility & attempted to do some diagnostics but the machine froze again.
    Looking around various other forum postings...I rebooted the machine in single user mode and was able to get to the command line to type 'fsck -fy' to attempt to fix disk problems.  This failed repeatedly, with an error message 'invalid node structure'.
    I tried to boot my machine from the OS X disc but my Superdrive refused to play ball - it would not read the disc (or any other disc for that matter, including a copy of DiskWarrior that I have).
    I have now got hold of an external DVD drive in the hope that this would show up as a boot device when I switch the machine on while holding the option key down.  No such luck - the drive powers up ok (power via USB) but I'm not given the option to boot from it - in fact that screen doesn't appear at all.
    All that happens now on powering up - regardless of what I do - is the grey apple symbol appears and a progress bar beneath it.  The progress bar gets stuck about 5% of the way along, and then after about 10 minutes it disappears and is replaced with the grey spinning wheel thingy.  And then it just gets stuck - nothing else happens.
    HELP!
    All my important data is backed up on an external drive via Time Machine, so that should be safe, but I'm desperate to get the machine running again.
    One thing that occurred to me is that I've had a program called ReFit installed on the machine which allowed me to run the machine as dual boot etc. (and I do have a couple of other small partitions on the drive, not currently used) but the ReFit welcome screen stopped appearing a couple of weeks ago for some reason.  I'm wondering if this has somehow messed things up...?
    Grateful for any suggestions...
    Thanks,
    Alan.

    For the drive, you should be OK with any SATA 2 at 3 MB/s transfer speed. You could also use a SATA 1, no jumpers needed. (Not SATA 3 - can't be jumpered down.) The early 2006 Intels were 1.5 MB/s -- at least the drives were, so I'm assuming the SATA controller on the logic board was also. Might just be SATA 2 hadn't yet been introduced and can run the faster SATA 3 without jumpers. My guess is not. You should be able to set jumpers on the drive for backwards compatibility. You'll have to contact the drive manufacturer or go to their website for that info.
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/stats/imac-core-2-duo-2.16-20-inch-sp ecs.html
    As for the superdrive, I'd contact the manufacturer to check on compatibility.
    Glad I'm able to help. BTW, in case you haven't noticed, maybe you want to have a look here.

  • ITunes store won't load. The progress bar freezes at about 50% and I get nothing but a white screen.

    I'm running iTunes 10.5 beta 7 but this issue has been happening since I was running 9.  One day I clicked on a link for an app I saw on techcrunch and it pulled up in iTunes as being in the UK store.  I clicked ok and my iTunes hasn't worked since.  I can log into my account but can't access anything in the store or Ping.  I've googled this issue and found some similar sounding stories but none of the solutions have worked.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, turned of the itunes store in parental settings and checked "except for iTunes U", I've uninstalled apple aplication suport and installed safari and every other option I have found and nothing has worked.
    Sometimes if I let it sit long enough what looks like an unstyled version of the store comes up but is completely unusable.
    Just to be clear, this has been happening since before I was running any beta software or OS.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you gchin.
    I emailed apple support and they got back to me, I did what he said and it's fixed! SOLUTION found- see below.
    I said:
    "I can't access the iTunes Store. When I click on it the progress bar stops at 50% and I'm left with a blank white screen (no error msg). I have uninstalled and reinstalled, run the iTunes diagnostics (it said all was ok), gone through all of the online help material and I've tried turning off my firewall. Nothing works. I can't sync my iphone either (stops on verifying iPhone so I think it's getting stuck on trying to contact the store). Plzz help."
    They replied:
    "Greetings from Apple iTunes Store Customer Support! I am ########.
    I understand that you have had issues accessing the iTunes Store. I know how eager you are to have this issue resolved. I will certainly assist you.
    #########, for this, I recommend that you attempt to resolve this issue by once again uninstalling iTunes and QuickTime, and then reinstalling the latest version of each. • What's happened to the Share Monitor or at least a progress bar in 10.0.6?

    Previously when exporting using the Share menu, I either had a progress bar or the Share Monitor to show how my export was doing.
    Now in 10.0.6 there appears to be neither of these items so I have no idea how long it will take.
    Am I doing something wrong or have both these items disappeared?
    If the latter, how do I estimate the time the export will take?

    All exports in FCP X as of 10.0.6 are background processes, and GPU enbled so they are much, much faster.
    Click the Background Process indicator in the Dashboard to see the progress there.  Just like when you import files.   The great news is, now you can contiue working while exporting is going on in the background.

  • Mac boot issue; gray screen, spinning wheel, and progress bar

    Recently I shut down my Mac only to find when I tried turning it back on it was very slow and unresponsive. I proceeded to shut down a couple more times and this resulted in a gray screen upon startup with a spinning wheel, apple logo, and a progress bar. The progress bar did not fill at all at first, and as I left my laptop for about 40 minutes, it still hadn't moved. I proceeded then to boot in recovery and tried to repair my disk. This resulted in another issue, and would not repair, so I decided to just erase my HD, since there was not anything important on it anyways. I really just wanted my laptop to turn on so I could start my paper. Well it wouldn't erase my hard disk and this led to me becoming very impatient and just quitting the process. On the next attempt to boot in recovery, the hard disk doesn't even show up. Only the recovery disk (previously there were two disks as options, as well as the wifi selection). I'm now using safari through the recovery option. I'd like to simply get my computer back. If i can't get anywhere on here, i'm just going to bring it to the apple store and return it, most likely, as i've had nothing but problems with this thing. I've had it since the middle of September, and I can't hardly believe i've already encountered such an issue. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

    I'd make a trip to the Apple Store - your hard disk may be dying (the Recovery partition is very small) or there might be something corrupt in your system. They'll be able to evaluate it.

  • Displaying an Indeterminate Progress Bar While a DB2 Stored Proceedure Runs

    How do I display a dialog with an indeterminate progress bar while a DB2 query runs? Could anyone point me to an example or some strong docs?
    I learned Java about six months ago, so I'm relatively new to the language. Through searching and documentation, I've been able to find all the examples and answers I've needed so far. Now I've run into an issue I can't find anywhere. It seems like the most basic thing in the world. I have a DB2 stored procedure that takes about 5 minutes to run. While it's running, I want to display a simple dialog with a progress bar going back and forth (no buttons, no user interaction).
    I'm using Eclipse 3.3.1.1 as my IDE, and running the application from a JAR file. I have Java 1.6.0.30 installed. The DB2 query is running in response to a user clicking a button on the form (an ActionEvent). All of my forms are using Swing (JFrame, JDialog, etc.).
    The crux of my problem seems to be that I can bring up a dialog (which should contain the progress bar), but I can't get it to paint. All I get is a window that's the right size/location, but contains an after-image of what was behind it. I can't even get a dialog to display with a "Please Wait" label while the DB2 procedure runs.
    I tried separating both the DB2 stored procedure and the progress dialog into separate threads. I tried yielding in the DB2 thread to give the progress dialog a chance to update. I tried using invokeAndWait, but I got the following error:
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.Error: Cannot call invokeAndWait from the event dispatcher thread
    It seems like I'm doing something wrong in my use of Theads, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. If anyone could help out a bit of a Java newbie, I would be extremely grateful.

    Demo:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class ProgressBarExample2 {
        private JProgressBar bar = new JProgressBar(0,99);
        private JButton button = new JButton("Lengthy operation");
        private ActionListener al = new ActionListener(){
           public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
                button.setEnabled(false);
                bar.setIndeterminate(true);
                new Worker().execute();
        private class Worker extends SwingWorker<Boolean, Boolean>{
            protected Boolean doInBackground() {
                try {
                    Thread.sleep(10000); //10 secs
                } catch (InterruptedException e) {
                return Boolean.TRUE;
            protected void done() {
                button.setEnabled(true);
                bar.setIndeterminate(false);
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    new ProgressBarExample2();
        ProgressBarExample2() {
            button.addActionListener(al);
            JPanel cp = new JPanel();
            cp.add(button);
            cp.add(bar);
            JFrame f = new JFrame("ProgressBarExample2");
            f.setContentPane(cp);
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.pack();
            f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
            f.setVisible(true);
    }
