Import to different tablespace

Hi all..
I created dump file in one database with tablespace1 in Oracle 10g XE using expdp
and
now i want to import that dump file in another database with different tablespace2 name.
What is the option for this...?

Change the default tablespace of the user, under which the dump is to be imported, to a different tablespace.
Once importing is done, you can restore the tablespace.

Export Import with different tablespaces

Does anyone know if there is a way to export from one database (creating a dmp file) and then importing into another database with different tablespaces? I have tried this and get this error:
ORA 959. It complained that the tablespace doesnt exist (which it doesnt). Is there a way I can change the export or import parameters to avoid this and just use the default tablespaces?
I may well be missing the point here so please feel free to tell me I am being a fool.

Example. All these tables are from the same schema with the same tablespace specified in the dmp file. There are many more and 90 % fail but not all.

Importing to different tablespace with no quota

Hi,
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 on Sun Solaris server.
I have received a export dump file of user "SUN"
The "SUN" user is using tablespace "SUN_DATA".
Here in my database, I have created a new tablespace "SUN_NEW_DATA"
and created a new user "SUN_NEW".
I have granted quota unlimited on SUN_NEW_DATA to "SUN_NEW" user.
I have not given any quota on "SUN_DATA" to "SUN_NEW" user.
Though my database is also having "SUN_DATA" tablespace which is being used by other users.
Now when I give the command :
imp sun_new/sun_new file=sun_exp.dmp log=sun_exp.log fromuser=sun touser=sun_new
I am seeing that all the tables are created in "SUN_DATA" tablespace.
Can someone explain me why the import have created objects in "SUN_DATA" tablespace though
the user "SUN_NEW" does not have any quota on that tablespace.

And I think the DEFAULT TABLESPACE at the database level is defined as SUN_DATA.

I've exported my instance:

after I've created new tablespace and new user:

In new instance there are 2 tablespaces (TOM, MAX)
I tried 2 solution:
1) I've taken the tablespace TOM offline in the new instance, but when I import fromuser=TOM touser=MAX.............
I get error because not exist tablespace TOM
2)I removed MAX's quota on the TOM tablespace in the new instance.
ALTER USER MAX QUOTA unlimited ON TOM;
but when I import I get alway the same error:
ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace TOM
I know That I must encrease tablespace TOM for avoid this error, but I must create 6 new users in 6 different tablespaces and I'd to increase tablespace TOM too much (how many GB?).
how can I import schema to a different tablespace?

I don't understand why you cannot import TOM's scheme
to new instance, because you say that you' ve TOM
tablespace in the database.
Check size of it, may be you need to increase size or
you can TOM tablespace set autoextended.
Also, you can set MAX tablespace is default in new database and set TOM tablespace is readonly.
Then import cannot create object in TOM tablespace
and create this in MAX tablespace.

How to import partitioned tables in different tablespace

Hi everyone,
I try to import the partitioned tables in different tablespace.
Consider the following situation:
I have a dump file which is created by using "Export" utility. Some data are in partitioned tables, some of them are in non-partitioned tables. Also, all tables are located in "MYTBS" tablesapce. I try to import all data from this dump file to another database. I didn't get error messages when importing the data from non-partitioned tables. However, I got error message when importing the data from partitioned tables. The error message is: tablespace 'MYTBS' does not exist.
I just want to how I can solve this problem other than create 'MYTBS' tablespace for my new database.

How can I import schema to a different tablespace in a new database?

Hi,
I want to transport a schema "abc", which is on 'USERS" tablespace in the old database, to a new database using Data Pump. But on the new server, I want it on a different tablespace, say "TEST". How can I do that? I tried the following but it does not work:
1. Create a user "abc" on new database, assign "TEST" as its default tablespace;
2. use impdp to import the dmp file;
I found that on the new server, the imported tables are still on the "USERS" tablespace.
Can anyone tell me how to do it? thanks a lot.

Use the REMAP_TABLESPACE option:
REMAP_TABLESPACE = source_tablespace:target_tablespace

Import of a tablespace using a tablespace different name

Hi,
i'm trying to import a transportable tablespace into the same database it was exported from, but using a different name; the import utility fails saying that it can't find the original tablespace.
The parameters used during export and import are:
exp 'sys/pwd@host as sysdba'
transport_tablespace=yes
tablespaces=test_tbs
direct=yes
triggers=no
constraints=no
buffer=100000
file=test_tbs.dmp
imp 'sys/pwd@host as sysdba'
transport_tablespace=yes
tablespaces=test_tbs
file=test_tbs.dmp

datafiles='test_tbs.dbf'
Both tools are spawned as child processes of my application.
Is there any way to import a tablespace with a new name or to rename the tablespace after import. Needless to say, that I can't predict the new name at export time.
What I basically want to do, is to imitate the "Attach/Detach Database" feature of mssql.

You can't rename tablespace with transport_tablespace features. Read the piece of information extracted from the metalink note : 103013.1
Transported tablespaces are plugged in in a read-only configuration, however the file header also stores the tablespace name, so any attempt to rename it would require an update to the file header. Similarly at unplug time there is a requirement that the tablespace is in read only mode and the same restrictions therefore apply - you can't 'RENAME' a tablespace, because you might only be taking a copy of the datafile.

Oracle 10g Data Dump---Import to different users

Hi everybody,
I exported data in oracle 10g using expdp in user schema(abc1).
Now i want to import that data in different user schema (abc2) and another user schema (abc3). Both schemas (abc2 and abc3) are in same tablespace.
How to do this. Shall i need to export that data in SYSTEM mode to import for different users..?

Assign AW to a different tablespace

Hello all,
We would like to move an analytical workspace (Oracle 10.2.0.1) to a different tablespace. The owner user was originally assigned to a shared tablespace; however, it was changed to use a dedicated tablespace. I have attempted to export / import the AW upon the change, but it is still assigned to the original shared tablespace. Could you please let me know how to change the tablespace, so I don't have to recreate the AW from scratch.

If I read this correctly, you have an existing AW that you want to move to a different tablespace. If so, you will need to recreate your AW. The easiest way to do this is as follows:
1. Save dimensions and cubes to XML templates. (Save them independantly, don't just save the AW to a template.)
2. Create a new AW, using the tablespace option. (I recall that there was a bug in 10.x where the tablespace option got ignored. After you create your AW with the spacespace option, check to see which tablespace the AW$ table is in. If it's in the default tablespace, not the tablespace you have chosen, you probably need a patch or upgrade.)
3. Create your dimensions and then cubes from the templates in the new AW.

How to import tables, indexes, tablespace, etc from a DMP.

I like to know how to import tables, indexes, tablespace, etc from an DMP export of a Oracle 10.2.0.1 to be apply on a Oracle 11.2.0. When I import the DMP file all the data is going to one single Tablespace, for example, Users tablespace.
On the original database we have various tablespace's each separated with different content (tables, indexes) and I like to know if it posible to import the same schema,tables, indexes, tablespace all made with one single DMP Export. I can't use DBUA because the software of the database on the 10.2 is missing, I have only a DMP file (24GB) of DMP!.

I make a full export to a DMP. Then in my 11.2 version first I created the user then when import the DMP file none of the tablespace (TABLESPACE1, TABLESPACE2, ETC...) is created, all is going to the USERS tablespace, SO, im looking a way to tell imp command that generates the exactly tablespace structure that i was have on the 10.2.

Just import them normally and sort the project by date. They will fall into place. If you tried this and it isn;t happening then make sure the data and times on the two cameras are identical and make sure you are sorting by date and time and nothing else.

Why are my HD videos all importing with different resolutions?

Hi, I tried looking through like 10 pages of discussions on here and didn't see anybody else having this problem.
I have a Canon Vixia HF200, I keep the settings on MXP (highest quality 1920 x 1080). Every time I log and transfer my videos they import at different resolutions (everything from the same day will be the same), some of them come in as 1440 x 1080, 720 x 480, etc, when they should all be 1920 x 1080.
So, since some of them ended up being a completely different aspect ratio, I went into Motion>Distort and changed them all to 1920 x 1080, and I thought it was fine, but now I'm noticing that some of the videos look really out of focus (it seems like they get more out of focus every time I open it), so I'm thinking I probably shouldn't have stretched them....
I checked the original videos in the browser and they all say 1920 x 1080 now, when I watch them in the viewer, they actually look like good HD videos, but in the canvas they're out of focus...
I'm also working with multiple sequences, and when I copy videos from one sequence to another, it changes the resolution/aspect ratio/scale again, and becomes more blurry when I try to fix it.
So basically, I have a huge mess. I'm working on editing a documentary that I'm making and now most of the video looks bad and I'm not sure how to change it back. I even tried starting a new project and importing the original videos, but they don't seem to have the original quality.
Anybody know how I can either fix this or somehow replace the clips in the sequence with the originals in the browser to at least get some quality back?
Also, a lot of the time when I render, I come back to the computer and it says something like "Error: Illegal (something) render failed" and completely loses the rendering that it spent a long time doing.

Hi Lisa,
Your 1920x1080 clips most likely import at their normal frame size, and then you placed them in the wrong sequence. Make sure your +File > Easy Setup+ is set to *Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60* before you create a new sequence.

I've shut down my computer and opened iTunes from the hard drive Program Files and tried to import the CD again with the same problem. How can I retrieve the "CD Looup Results" diaglogue box to choose the correct CD title to fit the song list on my original CD?

You might also be able to do it without importing the songs again I think. Just highlight the tracks, right click them and choose "Get Track Names". This feature only works on CDs that were imported via iTunes.
