Important  date  query

how to convert date in mm dd yy format to  20yy mm dd format?

HI ,
  Prabhat , your question is not clear. alwayes date have fixed width dd.mm.yyyy like that or order will be change as per requirement.
if you want to suffix number 20 in each date then you have to define a another workarea for the same with help of concatenate command like
data : wa_str(15)   type c.
CONCATENATE '20'  sy-datum6(2) sy-datum4(2)
sy-datum+(4)  INTO WA_STR separated BY SPACE.
tried it out I may help you.

  • Giving dynamic sheet name while importing data from Excel in OPENROWSET query

    I want to import data from Excel to table in SQL server. Sheets in Excel file can have any name. I want to get data from first sheet of the excel file.
    CREATE PROC CopyExcelDataToTempTable
    @ExcelPath VARCHAR(1000)
    AS
    BEGIN
    EXEC sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1;
    RECONFIGURE;
    EXEC sp_configure 'ad hoc distributed queries', 1;
    RECONFIGURE;
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_MSset_oledb_prop N'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0', N'AllowInProcess', 1;
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_MSset_oledb_prop N'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0', N'DynamicParameters', 1;
    INSERT INTO TempData
    SELECT *
    FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
    SELECT CONCAT('Excel 12.0 Xml;HDR=YES;Database=', @ExcelPath),
    'SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]');
    END;
    Currently I am giving Sheet1 as static name in Select statement. But my sheet name is not fixed. I want to create a dynamic query. If getting Sheet name is not possible then can we put sheet with its index in Select query? There is no front end. Whatever I
    want to do is in SQL server 2012. Is there any solution for this problem?

    Hi Ajinkya,
    To get the sheet names from an excel, you can use the Stored Procedure
    SP_TABLES_EX. See the below code.
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver 'ExcelSource', '',
    'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
    'c:\worksheet.xls',
    NULL,
    'Excel 8.0'
    EXEC sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'ExcelSource', 'false'
    GO
    EXECUTE SP_TABLES_EX 'ExcelSource'
    the names in the worksheet.xls and execute result are like below.
    Table name
    a
    b
    c
    d
    Regarding your description, you need the first sheet of your excel. As the result shows, the sheet names are sorted, so there’s no guarantee to get the first one. The SP can work as a workaround when there’s only one sheet in your excel or the required sheet’s
    name is customized to be sorted at the top first.
    If you have any question, feel free to let me know.

    Hi,
    When importing data from relational data source, the steps are:
    In SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), click the Model menu, and then click Import
    from Data Source.
    On the Connect to a Data Source page, select the type of database to connect to, and then click Next.
    Follow the steps in the Table Import Wizard. On subsequent pages, you will be able to select specific tables and views or apply filters by using the Select
    Tables and Views page or by creating a SQL query on Specify a SQL Query page.
    As we can see on the steps, we need to select one database, so we needn't to write "USE AdventureWorks2012" on the query.

  • Tabular Modeling. What is the best practice for importing data into VS to limit the records in the designer?

    Should I wrap the queries in a procedure with a @StartDate and @EndDate and create a test partition to pass a small date range?
    Or can i use the Table properties screen to put the command there and will it run and not be affected or affect the partitions?This would be nice if this SQL statement on this screen was independent of the partitions and I could just leave it with the the
    command text = EXEC TransactionDetail '2014-01-01', '2014-05-31' Especially since if you have many tables that load based on a date range. i would not want to jump in and change that query on all of them.
    Is there a a way to have a parameter in the project so all tables would get the same @startDate and @EndDate so I could change it in one place?
    And I am not stuck to these questions\options, If there is a better way to mass change the queries to run a subset of data for the designer I'd like to hear it.
    Thank You,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
    According to your description, you are looking for the best way to control the rows that are loaded into a table, right?
    When importing data to a table of tabular model, we can apply filters to control the rows that are loaded into a table. After you have imported the data, you cannot delete individual rows. However, you can apply custom filters to control the way that
    rows are displayed. Rows that do not meet the filtering criteria are hidden. For the detail information about it, please refer to the link below.Filter Data in a Table (SSAS Tabular)
    If I have anything misunderstand, please point it out.

    Hi Poornima,
    It’s a known issue with Excel Driver. The Excel driver reads a certain number of rows (by default, 8 rows) in the source to guess at the data type and length of each column. When a column contains mixed data types, especially numeric data mixed with text
    data, the driver decides in favor of the majority data type, and returns null values for cells that contain data of the other type. To avoid this issue, we only need to add IMEX=1 to the value of Extended Properties in the connection string of the Excel connection
    manager in the Properties window. The connection string is like:
    Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Temp\Excel\Template1.xls;Extended Properties="Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;IMEX=1";

    Are you attempting to import into a newly made table or into an existing table? It looks like it's trying to insert data where it cannot be inserted (invalid column or lack of data size in your column).
    Try the following:
    1). In your excel sheet, highlight the whole sheet and make sure the cells are in 'text' form and try re-importing
    2). save the document as ms dos TEXT and import as a text document.
    3). double check your columns are correct for the data, for example if you have a column that has a string of 100 characters and your column is 'NvarChar(90)' - that might cause the error? Or just correct data type in your column
    3). If that doesn't work and you're inserting into a new table, try importing it as string first and writing a query to insert columns that should be float/integer or whatever. You may want to convert float texts to a 'bigint' first rather than string
    > float as that can cause problems if I remember correctly.

  • Extra column to be added while importing data from flat file to SQL Server

    I have 3 flat files with only one column in a table.
    The file names are bars, mounds & mini-bars.
    Table 'prd_type' has columns 'typeid' & 'typename' where typeid is auto-incremented and typename is bars, mounds & mini-bars.
    I Import data from 3 files to prd_details table. This table has columns 'pid', 'typeid' & 'pname' where pid is auto-incremented and pname is mapped to flat files and get info from them, now i wanted the typeid info to be received from prd_type table.
    Can someone please suggest me on this?

    You can get it as follows
    Assuming you've three separate data flow tasks for three files you can do this
    1. Add a new column to pipeline using derived column transformation and hardcode it to bars, mounds or mini-bars depending on the source
    2. Add a look task based on prd_type table. use query as
    SELECT typeid,typename
    FROM prd_type
    Use full cache option
    Add lookup based on derived column. new column -> prd_type.typename relationship. Select typeid as output column
    3. In the final OLEDB destination task map the typeid column to tables typeid column.
    In case you use single data flow task you need to include a logic based on filename or something to get the hardcoded type value as bars, mounds or mini-bars in the data pipeline

  • Import data from csv to SQL database

    How to  Import data from csv to SQL database through BLS-xMII?

    Hi,
    if you using Oracle, you may also use the bulk insert with MII. You can use the String List to XML parser to convert your CSV to XML, and then use a query that calls a stored procedure which does the bulk insert.
    Also have a look at thread [read XML file into stored procedure|http://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=63850236&messageID=7455643].

  • Importing data from SQL Server

    I'm relatively new to Oracle, and my question is about importing data. I have an SQL 2000 server and I export a database using Microsoft OLE DB provider for Oracle. The process finished OK but when I tried to query the tables qith SQL Plus Worksheet, I get a message saying:
    select * from rwp_purge
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    but the table is there. I can see it using DBA Studio. So, what is happening? Do I have to commit transactions after importing data from SQL Server? Do I have to rebuild statistics?

    Was the table created in the schema you are loggin as when trying to access the table? If not, you will have to grant access to the table logged in as the table owner.

  • Import Data - Nothing happens

    I have SQL developer running on my machine (Win XP Pro SP2). We run oracle db version 10g. I set up my connection and am able to query the tables but when I run the import data wizard, everything tests successfully and seems to run but when I click finish, nothing occurs other than the table reload. I can't import to either an existing or new table. I can't even get past the first screen of the wizard when importing from a .xls file.
    Please advise. Am I missing something? Thanks.

    Can you tell us your SQL Dev version?
    Please run SQL Dev from <install_dir>\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe..
    This will open a console which SQL Dev throws exceptions... try doing the same thing again and when you click to run the Import Data wizard check to see if any exceptions get thrown.... if the window hangs please type Ctrl+Break to get a Java dump and post that as well....
