Importing AppleWorks Spreadsheet Into OpenOffice.

I would like to know if it is possible to import an AppleWorks spreadsheet into OpenOffice.
If so, does anyone have an idiot's guide on how to do it?

In AW save the spread sheet as an Excel 98 document. Open it by dragging the new doc to the Open Office icon.

I can't import an AppleWorks spreadsheet with Japanese writing into Numbers. The fonts are all just like this.

In AppleWorks, the fonts are fine.

How do I get AppleWorks to export to TAB delimited?
Save As… text in the File Format drop-down menu. You will need to add the .txt extension to the file name. AppleWorks won't do it for you & Numbers may not recognize the file as one it can open without the extension.

  • IMPORT APPLEWORKS DOCUMENTS INTO PAGES

With appleworks totally dead (just found out with my lion update), I'm a teacher with 1000's of old AW files I might want to access, update or import into pages....  Is there a way?
I've got a 2009 iMac running lion, iworks 08 (rarely use), ipad 2.
    Thanks

You won't need to run AppleWorks in an earlier OS IF, big IF, your AppleWorks files are AppleWorks 6 word processing, spreadsheet or presentation. The iWork applications - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - can only open AppleWorks 6 presentation, word processing & spreadsheet documents, respectively. They will not open any other type of AppleWorks 6 files or any AppleWorks 5 or any version of ClarisWorks files.
The third-party application, EazyDraw, can open AppleWorks draw documents. If you still have access to AppleWorks you can copy the contents of draw documents, paste them into an AppleWorks word processing document in object mode (click the arrow in the tool panel), save the WP document & then open it in Pages. You can copy & paste from AppleWorks to Pages but you would have to do it object by object or it will be one big uneditable object. Check Yvan Koenig's iDisk for many AppleScripts he has written to make conversion easier. Most are made to do batch conversions.
There is nothing other than AppleWorks that can open paint or database documents. Database data can be copied & pasted into an AppleWorks spreadsheet, saved & opened in Numbers or saved as ASCII/plain text & opened in most any spreadsheet, database or word processing program. Paint documents can be saved as one of many different formats to be opened in most image editing programs. I recommend using PICT or PNG for best results.

  • Can't import Appleworks files into iWork

I recently purchased iWork 05 (and am stuck with it, since I cannot upgrade to 06) and cannot import Appleworks 6 drawing documents into either Pages or Keynote. Are the Appleworks drawing and paint functions now orphaned?

Only AppleWorks 6 word processing documents can be opened by Pages (& I assume, by Keynote). You can do one of two things to get the content of your AppleWorks draw documents into Pages.
    1. Open the draw document in AppleWorks & copy & paste into Pages.
2 Copy the draw elements & paste them as floating objects in an AppleWorks 6 word processing document. Inline object don't translate in my experience. And, text boxes will become uneditable objects.

  • How can I import my old Appleworks spreadsheets into Neo Office or Pages

I am a new MBP owner and have some spreadsheets in Appleworks from my old iMac. I don't have Appleworks on my new MBP. I have downloaded Neo Office and could use it to create a new spreadsheet but can't import my previously created ones. Must I retype then? Or...as an alternative, I have iWorks. Can I import them into Pages? How? Thanks for any help.

The above suggestion didn't work for me. However, I did find this site that helped me--and it might help someone else:
    http://neowiki.neooffice.org/index.php/OpeningAppleWorksdocuments
It worked for spreadsheet--now I have to try to convert a data base document in Appleworks.

  • How to import AppleWorks files into iWork?

Can AppleWorks files be imported into iWork?

Word Processing documents can be opened directly in Pages (AppleWorks 6 only), though Panergy Software'sdocXConverter v3.2 ($19.95) can convert Appleworks 5 and 6 Word Processing documents to RTF (though it has been reported that it can only handle documents which contain only text, not those which include images or frames); and the latest version of the free LibreOffice has announced that it can open AppleWorks 6 Word Processing documents: it does appear to be able to handle at least some embedded images.
Draw Documents can be opened directly only in EazyDraw (the more expensive version from their website, not the cheaper one from the Mac App Store, and you will need v4.0 'Retro' not the most recent version) or Intaglio (though this appears not to be able to handle very complex drawings). However Draw documents can be copied into WP documents and then opened in Pages - more details here.
Spreadsheets can be opened directly only in Numbers.
Presentations can be opened directly only in Keynote.
Nothing will open Paint or Database documents.
If you have upgraded to Lion/Mountain Lion and have AppleWorks documents you cannot open, then you should be able to install Snow Leopard on an external hard disk and start from that (provided that the Mac did not come with anything higher than Snow Leopard originally installed); and success has been reported in running Snow Leopard under emulation in Parallels - the method is described here: it seems complex; however Snow Leopard Server is available in the Apple Store (by telephone) at a reduced price (at the time of writing) and this makes the process a lot easier. I haven't tried either method: use at your own discretion. You can then run AppleWorks as an emergency measure.
There is a detailed article on 'Abandoning AppleWorks' here:

  • Cannot import TDMS data into Openoffice Calc ver 2.4.0

Is the TDMS Openoffice Calc Add-in Tool supposed to work with Openoffice ver 2.4?  I've downloaded the add-in and "installed" per the instructions on th NI web site, but "TDM Importer" never shows up in the Openoffice Calc menu bar.  Any ideas?

I would agree with you N_Cooper, but I managed to install it on Vista as well.  Maybe you need to uninstall/reinstall OpenOffice?  Do you see TDMImporter.exe in C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.4\program?  Are you running any antivirus programs that would perhaps prevent files from installing completely?

  • Step By Step To Import Excel Spreadsheet Into SQL Server & Save Package

Can someone provide a link or detail how to do this for me?  There are several options some of which I have no clue what do that I would like to understand so thought I would ask someone with more experience for a step by step.  Dumb it down
    for a dumby.

SSIS is certianly one option, but you don't NEED to use SSIS for this.  please see these links.

    https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/database-administration/getting-data-between-excel-and-sql-server-using-odbc--/
There are many options available to you as well.  Let me know if you need some more ideas of how to do what you are proposing to do.
Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

As a workaroud, how about merge mutiple excel files into one file, then import this excel file to sql table?
To merge excel files, please refer to this script:

  • Importing a spreadsheet with value NULL

I have exported a query from a database into Excel and some of the values are NULL.
I am attempting to import this spreadsheet into SQL Server using SSIS 2012 (Data Tools).  I have created a package that includes a source and a destination.  In the source I select all of the fields.  One of the rows contains a list of dates
and some NULL values.  When I create a table I set this field's datatype to datetime, but when I attempt to carry out the import I receive an error message because the NULL value is in fact a text and not a blank value.
As a (not so) quick fix I have deleted all of the NULL values so that they are blank.  This will import the data into the datetime field in my newly created table.  Is there any way I can amend the package so that it will set NULL values into the
spreadsheet to a null in the database table.

Use the Derived Column Transformation in which set the incoming NULL to DBNULL
    e.g isnull(column)?dbnull(dt_date):column

  • Is there a way to import iCal data into a numbers spreadsheet?

Is there a way to import iCal data into a numbers spreadsheet?

If you want to import lots of calendar events into Numbers, the general way to proceed would be to:
export in CSV (character-separated values) from iCal (Calendar)
    import the CSV into Numbers.
    1. can be accomplished via AppleScript (perhaps in an Automator workflow) or, perhaps more convenient, a dedicated exporter app such as Export Calendars Pro or competitors.
    2. Importing into Numbers is usually as easy as File > Open and choose the CSV file.

  • Importing Appleworks DB documents into Bento

I have tried to import my Appleworks data-base documents into Bento with no luck. I have saved the Appleworks DB documents as .tsv files, (as per instructions obtained from Google) but when I try load those DB files into Bento,  Bento has no save or save-as like Appleworks did, so how do I know if the file is saved correctly.  This is weird. I want to import all my Appleworks DBs into Bento, before I download Lion (OS 10.7).
    Any help is appreaciated.
    Thanks,
    Greg

The process is described here: http://www.filemaker.com/products/bento/appleworks.html
How to bring your AppleWorks information into Bento:
First, you will want to save your AppleWorks file as a .tsv file for use in Bento. Learn how
Next, launch Bento and follow the steps below:
Choose File > Import > File.
Click Choose, then select your AppleWorks .tsv file.
Once imported the database is now a Bento file, just like one created in Bento, and can be treated as such.

  • Writing XML from java and import this into OpenOffice

Hello , i'd like to write a XML file which covers Text and Images and can be imported into OpenOffice. The Export to XML already works. But i don't know what XSL or other files a necessary ? Does anyone have a converter ? Or can gibe a clue ?

dunno if it is feasable with only an XML file.
i am doing this by generating an SXW file (OpenOffice) using JAXP for the XML content and java.util.zip to pack the XML and the images in the SXW.
