Importing Applications from 10.4?

Hi,
I am awaiting delivery of a new iMac and am wondering if I'll be able to hook my lap top with 10.4 to the new Snow Leopard machine (via FW) and be able to import applications between OS?

Yes, you can do what you want. Personally, I would prefer to use a combination of drag and drop and reinstall by hand. Regardless, be sure that Rosetta is installed on your new machine if you will be importing any PPC apps. You can install Rosetta using the optional install folder on your Sno DVD. Check here on [using migration assistant|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3322] to do what you want.

    We did our first ever full move of our application from our QA server to our PROD server tonight. First, I exported the current PROD application version as a backup. Then I did an export of the application on QA and then imported it into PROD using the same application ID as it had previously (which is the same as it was in QA). Second, we need to know what the proper procedures should have been for exporting our QA application and importing it into PROD without loosing the saved interactive reports. Hope someone can help us out very quickly - the natives will be very restless tomorrow morning when they find out that they don't have their saved reports.

    The problem is that the saved reports are not in the application we are exporting, they are in the one we are trying to update. I'll try to provide a more detailed description of what we are doing. We have two separate server environments, one for our production Oracle databases and our production APEX workspaces and applications. The other is for our development and QA Oracle databases and APEX workspaces and applications. Both environments run the same version of Oracle. So, on the production environment, we have a workspace called "payorprofile" and, within that workspace we have an application with application ID 126. That is where our users have been happily creating their saved interactive reports for the past 4 months. On the development environment, we have a workspace called "payorprofile" and, within that workspace we have an application with application ID 126. Now we have a new version of application 126 on the development environment that we need to promote to production. This newly QA'd version does NOT have the user's saved reports but it has all of the new and changed pages, LOVs, lists, breadcrumbs, etc. We needed to merge the new pages, etc. from dev with the data and user's saved reports on prod. What we did was to export the Dev version without saved reports and then we imported it into the prod system using the same application ID. It asked if we wanted to overlay the current application 126 with the new one and we said yes. During the install step we got the error noted in this post. The only thing we knew to do was to import the dev application as a new application ID (we chose 326). The application works fine, but, of course, we don't have the saved reports. Now we need to get the saved reports into the new application 326 - and I think with the help of some articles and posts on the web we can do that. However, we need to know what to do differently the next time we are ready to promote a version of the application to production.

  • Error on wwv_flow_api.create_page importing application from APEX3.1 in 11g

    I'm preparing the migration path of an application we created. While testing the import of the current version of our front end which was created in APEX 3.1.
    The workspace that I'm trying to import it on is in the APEX that comes along with the installation of the 11g database. I'm trying to import an application that was created on the 3.1 version of APEX.
    The import of the file as such is OK. It's during the next step that I get the following error:
    ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-06550: Regel 9, kolom 1: PLS-00306: Onjuist aantal of type argumenten in aanroep naar 'CREATE_PAGE'..     Sorry for the dutch but the PLS-00306 error is "invalid number of arguments when calling".
    When clicking on the "return to the application" link the import seems to continue giving a lot of the following errors
    ERR-3331 This page was already submitted and can not be re-submitted.
    Return to application.
    When this is all finished I don't have a new application in this workspace.
    Does anyone know what might be the issue?

    Hello:
    Can you check that the APEX version in the 11g database is at least 3.1 ? Run the query below in the 11 g database. If the version shown is less than 3.1 then you will not be able to import your 3.1 created application into the APEX version installed in the 11g database.

  • Error while exporting - importing application

    Hi All
    I was trying to export my apex.oracle.com app and was importing it to my local db installation environment. Encountered with an error:
    *1 error has occurred*
         *NOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your application version.)*I found that in my local environment, some features were missing like page of Type "Master-Detail" was not there while creating a page in my local instance. (My app is not using any mater-detail page, but it may be using some features which are missing in my local version). Want to know about the following:
    1. The APEX 3.2 (apex.oracle.com) DB version so that I can upgrade my DB instance version.
    2. Is the error telling about the incompatible application version or the DB version? How can it be addressed?

    The compatibility issue you encountered is about the APEX version and NOT the database version. The same APEX version can be installed on different database versions, starting with 9.2.0.3 or later.
    As each new APEX version adds new features, which manifest in the metadata table structure (among others), you can’t install an application from an advanced APEX version on an earlier APEX version.
    The version on apex.oracle.com is 3.2, while the default APEX installation on a new 11g database is 3.0.1. As such, if no specific upgrade were done to your local APEX instance, you won’t be able to import applications from apex.oracle.com.
    As was suggested, the only feasible solution is to upgrade the local APEX instance to the version on apex.oracle.com.

    I have an application that i would like to import and install... but i am obtaining an error...

    Application in machine A with oracle 10g standard and apex 3.0. Workspace is portal, schema is status_portal...
    export is working fine.
    Need to import it to machine B with oracle 10g and apex 3.0 Workspace is
    online_portal, schema is portal
    Import also works fine...
    But when i try to install the imported application, i get following error:

  • Problems importing application

    Hi, everybody.
    i'm having some problems importing applications from my dev env to my prod env.
    it's something very strange because it was working fine 2 weeks ago, but now it's not running.
    i get into the import page, choose the file and then the page keeps with that 'importing file' message forever, and sometimes i get a 'page not found' message.
    but yesterday, i don't know why, i could import one small application. After a 'page not found' message i got into the export repository, and there was my file. i installed it and it was done.
    some days ago i was told here to take a look at the logs and to increase some parameters in apex. but i don't know if these were the correct parameters and the only logs i found were de Apache logs.
    does anyone know what can be happening or at least whar must i look for?

    This is the first time I encounter this problem.
    I tried to import application from 1 workspace to another, but encountered below error when the import process trying to install the application.
    Error     ERR-1029 Unable to store session info. session=842080365761921 item=40006855470898
    ORA-02091: transaction rolled back ORA-02291: integrity constraint (APEX_040100.WWV_FLOW_PAGE_DA_A_AR_FK) violated - parent key not found
    I am using version 4.1.0.00.32

    no, don't delete all lines! Just the ones that don't have a matching "partner".
    These would be ok:
    p_affected_elements_type => 'REGION'
    p_affected_region_id => 247245133258676897 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset
    or
    p_affected_elements_type => 'ITEM'
    p_affected_elements => 'P4_DISP_OBJ'
    or
    p_affected_elements_type => 'JQUERY_SELECTOR'
    p_affected_elements => 'span.tooltip-plsql'
    This would cause an error and has to be deleted:
    p_affected_region_id => 393187746780221880 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset
    BUT if you are planning to export the application again, it would make more sense to find the Dynamic Actions and do what Anthony suggested:
    "If this was the case, and to workaround this for the moment without having to edit the export every time, you can go back into the DA, temporarily select 'Region' again for the 'Selection Type', clear the 'Region', change the selection type back to '- Select Type -' again and save this. This should clean this out and get rid of the issue for you."
    To find these regions, use

    Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes.  How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

    iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgrader application.  Repeatedly says it can't locate photos even when told to cancel.  I think the photos in question are in Nikon RAW format.

    iPhoto 9.5 immediately tries to "upgrade" my library using the upgrader.
    iPhoto 9.5 asks you to run the upgrader to prepare the library for 9.5. It then will update the library to its format.
    You need to do the following:
    1 - go to your Applications/Utilities folder and double click on the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application. 
    2 - select Choose Library, navigate to your iPhoto library, select it and let the upgrader do its thing.
    3 - launch iPhoto 9.5 to open and finish the conversion of the library.

    Now when I am trying to log in to the application using the previous credentials, it simply reloads the log in page and it doesn't give invalid user name and password error also.
    It just simply load the log in page once again.

  • Re-importing FDM application from XML not removing deleted objects/records

    I migrated our FDM application from one environment to the next environment, by exporting the FDM application from the source environment to an XML file and subsequently importing the FDM application XML file in the target environment. This appeared to work fine.
    After some updates were then applied to the source environment, I re-exported the FDM application to an XML file, and re-imported this in the target environment.
    However, I have noticed that:
    - Import Scripts that were deleted in the source application still remain in the target application.
    - Mappings that were deleted in the source application still remain in the target application.
    - Extra mappings that were added in the source application have been added to the target application.
    So we now have duplicate mappings in several tables and scripts that should have been deleted in the target environment!
    It appears that the "Import" process is more of an update, rather than a drop and replace. There is no "replace" option on the import process. Can anyone please advise how one should correctly migrate an FDM application between environments? At present, it seems to me that the whole application will need to be completely dropped/deleted (including the SQL database/Oracle schema) and re-imported all over again from scratch.
    Surely there must be a better method?!!

    Here is Oracle's response for anyone else who requires further information on this:

    The Import of the .xml files in terms of application creation is meant as a 'once only' event and a result is not meant as a method of post-create administration of the application. Any further imports will just add metadata to the application not replace or merge. If you wish to migrate an application via this method then you will need to get the source application into the state required for the migration then migrate this as a whole. Please note that this will only migrate the metadata of the application.
    The other method of migration as you have mentioned in the SR description, is via the database which will migrate the entire application with data.
    Please see KB article 806173.1 which gives instructions on the two methods, both of which are the only recommended methods. Please review the article to suit your requirements.

    What does "Easily import photos from other applications" really mean in the Lightroom 4 features list? I also see it stated as "...from other software" as well. Yes, I understand the LR can import from Elements libraries but can't find any reference to other applications anywhere, not in the online help, not in the user guide, not in any videos on Adobe TV. It would be nice if LR could see into iPhoto or Aperture libraries but that doesn't appear to be the case. Is that assumption correct? What other applications can LR import from?
