Importing compressed movie and attaching to button

I need help. I've got a final cut pro 4.5 movie that i've compressed through Compressor 1.2.1 that is 3.14 GB. I've set up my menu through DVD Studio Pro 2.0 and everything and have no trouble attaching the audio to the play button, but everytime I try to attach the movie to the button the pinwheel comes up and its like my computer freezes. I'm not sure what's wrong, is my project too big or what's going on? Any advice would be great!

Sorry, I will try to explain better. I made a very simple menu with one picture, a title and a play movie button. As I said before, I am new to DVDSP, but I was told all I had to do was drag my movie from my movies folder over the Play movie button and click 'create button and track' to make the movie play when you click the play movie button. I think you are correct and the media might be damaged, because when I've tried to play the compressed mpeg2 file it opens in compressor and says 'Alert Error trying to open source media file.
I've tried compressing it twice already (which takes 7hrs) and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've called apple and they said to check my setting which I have done. Could it have anything to do with my project being shot with two different cameras, one 24p and the other a normal sony video camera?

If you backed the library up by drag-copying it, drag-copy it to the same location on the new computer. If you backed up an entire iTunes library, you can also drag it to any location, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, and specify it.
If you used a backup product, check that product’s documentation.
The song files must be located on the computer’s internal drive for them to play without the external one connected. If needed, organize the library in iTunes.

Compressing .mov and keeping alpha without changing to .flv

Hello,
I am trying to run a .mov file with alpha through Adobe Media Encoder to get a compressed .mov file with alpha.
I found that I could change the file type to .flv with On2 VP6 codec, but I cannot use that because my file type must be .mov. I am bringing the compressed .mov into Unity as a movie texture and Unity will only accept .mov .mpg .mpeg .mp4 .avi .asf.
Is there a way that I can run a .mov with alpha through AME and get a compressed .mov with alpha?

The reason that you're getting a large file out of After Effects is that you're using the defult Lossless output module template, which uses the Animation codec. There is no reason to go through AME to make a smaller QuickTime movie. Just export directly from After Effects and choose a different codec in the output module settings. If you're using QuickTime, PNG is a good choice for getting smaller files that still have alpha channels.
However, why do you even care about file size if you also want an alpha channel? The reason to care about file size is for final ditribution; the reason to care about alpha channels is for using the file in a post-production process. Worrying about both at the same time means that you're likely confusing the requirements of two very different parts of the pipeline.

I suspect you're trying to import a reference quicktime where the media that the file is referencing is missing.

How do I compress .mov and .mpg files

I have several mpg1video clips at 18.8MB each, how do I compress them into smaller files. I want to e-mail them at about 2-3MB each, and maintain good quality? Power Mac G5 2.3 OSX 10.4.4 My objective is to upload 30 second video commercials and 2-3 minute clips to my web site or e-mail them to various clients. Need help.

For most users just using a browser other than Safari solves the trouble.
When I encounter pages that don't show the Pro "pull down" (right end of the controller) I simply Control click on the video window to bring up the contextual menu.

How to import a movie and make a backup of a dvd

I can not seem to get my computer to make a copy of a dvd nor will it put imported files from my camcorder on a disk. Please help!!!

Ziggy, you would have a better chance of help on this topic if you asked the question on a more relevant forum, possibly iMovie. I would suggest you include a few more details of what you are trying to do and how you have tried to do it. Sorry I can't help.

One thing I found when importing my movies!

I think I'm getting the best quality (but I'm new at this, I'm still working out the details)
One thing I found was I imported my movies from my video recorder that only has RCA output plus its old I don't think the heads are that clean or playing very well. Then I imported with a video recorder that has a S-Video connection & not only was the video better quality but the file was conciderably smaller.
Feel free to confirm this.

The movies do not download onto apple TV it shows them as purchased and you need to stream them down. If you want to show your purchased music on Apple TV you need to sign up for iTunes Match.
There seem to be a few glitches with iTunes Match so i just use the computer icon to listen to music on my computer through Apple TV. If you have your Movies and TV shows on your computer this is where you will find them.
The Movies and TV Shows buttons on the main page of Apple TV show you films and tv shows you have purcahsed or cen rent or purchase.
You can also sync your Photos over as well. Method is slightly different in that in iTunes on the computer
File > HomeSharing > Choose photos to share with Apple TV

Imovie keeps quitting during import of movies from Sony DVD Handycam

While importing movies with my sony dvd handycam, imovie imports 7 clips and stops...I have successfully imported many movies before and can't figure out why it continues to quit? PLEASE HELP

I am having the same problem with imports from my Canon vixia. I've imported many movies and clips successfully before this, but now, all of a sudden it won't import squat and I haven't changed any settings.....HELP!!!!!!

All is set up ok but when I view a home movie the apple tv reverts to the menu at random times, sometimes every 30 secs or so, sometimes plays for mins before cutting out and then i have to enter menu, go to movies and select the movie then resume play bu

Whwn viewing home movies the movie cuts out back to the general menu at random, forcing me to enter menu again, reselect the movie and hit resume button.
this happens everytime I try to play a movie, maybe after 1 min of play then again after 3 mins, next time it might play for 6 mins then cut out and so on. The macbook pro is not reverting to sleep mode or closing down and the wifi signal is strong. So is the apple tv an expensive load of junk or what?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Canon Ixus 50 can't import all Movies

If I connect my Canon Ixus50 , I-Photo opens and starts to import - but then sometimes I realize that one AVI-Movie is still left on the camera. I try DigitalImages then, but it's even there sometimes problematic to import the Movies that are left.
What's wrong? Missing Plug-In or typical Canon Problem ?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try using Image Capture, located in your Applications folder, to import the movie and stills from the camera. You can do it manually and upload to the desktop before importing into iPhoto.

HT3149 iPhoto 09 When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into edit, it shows up black and the edit buttons are not active. How do I fix that?

When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into the edit pane, there is no image just a black square and the edit buttons are not active. A few images in an event will move to the edit pane but most will not. I cannot work with those images that do not enter the edit pane..no attaching to email, make a card, slideshow, etc.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

There used to be an Xtra by Penworks (I think) that could do
that, but it
seems to be gone now. You could look around the Mile High

Speaking of updateStage, I seem to recall Gretchen McDowell
(former owner)
mentioning a method you might try. I think it went something
like:
Save an external castLib to a different filename.
Then use importFileInto to import that castLib to a member in
a different
castLib.
Or maybe using new() to create a castLib member, then set its
filename to the
new external castLib.
I never tried it and my memory fades fast, but try something
along those
lines.
If that method doesn't work, you can use the vList Xtra to
save/load
everything that a castLib would hold and more.

Can anyone help me in deleting or hiding the Attachment link and the launchWebdynpro button in the UWL iview. I dont want to do it in the iview properties which would affect all the tasks. Is there a way I can do it in the backend.\

I have the same problem. How can I remove the link? After I called the mentioned function module, the attachment was removed (content) but in the UWL the file name is still there:
From UWL:
