When importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed.

here is one that is imported and stays .mp4. the specs are same as original file before import.
here is one that has changed somehow during import. specs on original file are same as above, but once it is imported it changes to this in event folder, and others randomly keep the above specs.

Import files into bridge from a CMS - best practice

i am trying to come up with the simplest solution for the following:
we have a CMS in which our content is managed and edited.
the content editor might like to edit video files that reside in our asset management system.
our editing tool is Adobe Premiere.
My thought was to transfer the video file along with its metadata and edit instructions to an FTP server from our asset repository and then transfer these files into the video editing local environment using bridge. after editing the file - it should be transferred back into the asset repository via FTP server or such.
it seems the way to this would be to extend the bridge functionality using the java script SDK, but i would love to know if there is a best practice solution before we start detailed design and development.

I don't make many DVD's anymore and may well be wrong here but I'm not aware that dragging an im6 project to iDVD is any different than using share/iDVD and I'm wondering if the advice relates to exporting from im6 and then importing the exported movie into iDVD which is indeed a different workflow. -
Automator: "Import Files into iPhoto" from Safari
I'm trying to create and Automator Service to take an image from a web page in Safari and import it into an album in iPhoto.
I have the following and it works from the finder if I ctrl-click on an image file. If I ctrl-click on an image in Safari or Firefox the Service doesn't show up in the contextual menu.
Am I missing something?
I'm using 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.1, iPhoto '09 8.1.2

MattHmm, that's as much work as I was doing before Automator.
I've been dragging the images from Safari to a folder that is in my Finder Sidebar (and not bringing them into iPhoto). This requires two steps (Arrange my windows so that a Finder window can be seen behind Safari, drag the image to the Sidebar).
I figured if I was going to do this with Automator that one of the iPhoto functions would be my one-click answer.

Why can't I import files into iTunes from my computer?
I can't import a file but i've tried every method of adding file to library and drag and drop and nothing has worked. I have the lastest version of iTunes.
Am I correct in saying that the file is on your computer? Is it in a format that iTunes recognises?
If so, open iTunes, click on the small icon in the top left of the iTunes window and select Add File to Library. Navigate to the folder where the file is located and select it, click on Open. The song is now in your Library, but don't forget that the song's title, artist etc. will reflect the information within the file. So if the file did not have a song title or artist, it will appear in your iTunes as something like "Track 01", by "Unknown Artist". -
Import files into iDVD from iMovie OR export files from iMovie to iDVD?
I've been told it is better to import iMovie projects into iDVD (within iDVD) rather than exporting from iMovie to iDVD within iMovie. I was told that iDVD does a better job of rendering things than iMovie. Is this true because this is not the instructions given in the iMovie tutorial.

Here's the issue-I have two iTunes accounts, yet account #1 always comes up when I want to update my apps. This occurs even when account #2 is logged in and has been synced from desktop to iPad. Additionally,Account #2 is logged in on the iPad and yet account #1 prompt appears when updating. Interestingly account #2 functions normal for iTunes purchases but not apps purchases. Any suggestions?
Apps will ALWAYS be tied to the account from which they were purchased. You will always have to update the apps from the account from which they were purchased.

Hi....i m using Mac OS x 10.5.8 with safari Version 5.0.2 (5533.18.5). I just updated the Java version to Java 6 and now m getting below error:

Please help me out on this....I am also having a problem with this. My website is hosted through "www.onlinepictureproof.com" and now that my laptop is back from repair with OS X 10.6.8 I am unable to upload my photos to my work website. It says "a plug-in is needed to display this content. Install plug-in" and then a window pops up that says "no suitable plug-ins were found". Below that is "unknown plug-in (application/x-java-applet)" with a link to "manual install" which takes me to "http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index-jsp-141438.html#download" which just leaves me lost. I've tried downloading the "JRE" but I have zero idea what that means or if Im downloading the proper thing. Once I click on the "download JRE" it brings me to a download page where there are WAY too many items for me to choose from to download, when I have no idea what I need or why I need it. please help, this is driving me insane. I actually preferred my constantly crashing laptop to the state its in now, "like brand new" back from apple repair...I have already updated everything that is promted through "Software Updates".

Photos in my from my iPhone have the same numbering as photos from my digital camera. They all go into iPhoto fine but when I backup to my ext hard drive it will only save one with the name IMG 1002 and I have two separate images both with that name. How do I get them all to save on my ext hard drive and hope do I prevent this numbering overlap in the future? I'm really hoping I don't have to go through and manually rename every single picture. Thanks.
How are you backing up the photos? The best way is to backup the library itself as that will preserve your organizational efforts as well as all metadata like keywords, titles, faces, places, books, etc.
You can use a backup application that does incremental backups. Thus only the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups just copy those files that are new or changed. I use Synk Pro. The lower cost version, Synk, will do the same job. Other similar apps can be found at MacUpdate.com.
OR: upload your camera to a folder on the Desktop. There you can rename the files to something that is more informative than just the file name. I use the date (international format) along with a brief desc: 2007-1-20-adian1stbday-001.jpg. File renaming apps can also be found at MacUpdate.com. Also you can give the folder an informatve name which will become the Event name when you import the folder of photos into iPhoto.

I am getting the following error message when I try to import photos into iPhoto from my camera: "/private/var/folders/GB/GBl4wh8-ELqUVMI5dO-ryU TI/-Tmp-/iPhoto/DSCF2033.JPG". Have already tried removing and reinstalling iPhoto to no avail.
Does this happen if you try to Import to Library within iPhoto, or is it when you connect your camera (and which is set to automatically use iPhoto) that this error message occurs?
If you open Image Capture > Preferences is iPhoto selected as the choice when a camera is connected? -
I reset network settings on my iPhone. However now it looks as if my iPhone and iPad are no longer linked. They are both connected to my apple account but when I send an imessage from one it is not picked up by the other. What do I do? If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks x
Check Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on both your iPhone and your iPad to make sure that the following are all true:
(1) you have selected the same Apple ID on both devices,
(2) you have the same entries checked under "You can be reached by iMessage at:" on both devices,
(3) you have the same entry checked under "Start new conversations from:" on both devices,
and
(4) that the entry checked in #3 is one of those checked in #2 on both devices.
When you say it has affected your iCloud account, what effect has it had? -
I have horizontal lines when printing from my MacBook Air. Its nothing to do with my printer, as am now on to my third new printer, having returned the other two, saying they were fault. Now I know they weren't. Its got to be something to do with macbook. I feel really guily about taking the other printer back, when it was fine!!
Which MBA, which printer? Printer incl driver properly installed? Printed test page (yes, THE test page, not something else) and it looks okay?

You can seelct to leace the files where they are, copy into Aperture or else put them someplace else on the HD.

When will the ability to transfer seamlessly between apple Tvs be available? I want to be able to move from one room with an Apple TV to the other, and easily transfer a movie or tv show.
