Importing large quantity of slides

I am trying to compile numerous slide shows into one big show
for an online CBT. The imported slides were coming in on slide two
each time, until I did the fifth import. Now they go just anywhere
in the combined show, and completely hose the required order for
the show to make sense.
Has anyone else run into this, and is there a fix?
THANKS!

Georage, have you worked these files in other programmes? If so I guess the NEF files have xmp side car files.
What I am doing now is converting on import all my files to DNG. For me this keeps LR straight forward.
I think you would be served by detailing on paper what you want ti have at the end file structure wise and work from there backwards to achieve it. Keep in mind that you are doing a one off thing with what you already have and will be looking at something that works in the future.
I keep my image files in date structure now:
Year
Month
Date with a name such as client, job, location
Keywords and IPTC data make it easy to find files by a more detailed description and search.
Hope this helps

  • Importing large quantity of photos

I have over 3000 pictures saved on my HD. I would like some advice on importing this large quantity. Problems are: Many duplicate file names in different directories (they are currently named as they were in the camera), files saved as NEF and JPG in many cases. Need advise in setting up a naming convention for files and directories. Should I import leaving the original behind or renaming the original file. I do have a backup copy on a network drive.

  • ADVICE ON IMPORTING LARGE QUANTITY OF PHOTOS FROM CAMERA

I am planning a European trip this summer and anticipate taking a very large number of photos.  I have purchased a 16GB memory card as I was advised this was simpler than attempting to upload to a cloud server or IPAD while travelling.  My question is:  Once I return I will need to load possibly a couple of thousand photos to Elements 11.  I imagine this will take hours and hours in the usual fashion as I will be shooting in RAW.  Is there a way to segment this uploading or does anyone have advice for me as to how I might better accomplish this task?
    Thank you in advance

I would not risk storing all the pictures of a trip to a single 16 GB card... Using your IPAD as backup seems a very good idea.
About the speed of uploading a library of 16 GB, it's not much more than copying 16GB to your computer from a card or a USB stick. You can test it yourself; 'getting' files from the card into the catalog is quick after the 16GB are copied, the only step which will be longer is the creation of the thumbnails, but that does not prevent you from working in the organizer before they are created.

  • Sharing Presentations larger than 50 slides

Hi everyone - I have decks created in Keynote for iPad that have over 50 slides (it's easier to demo a product with screenshots than to travel with my laptop to show the product). I can't share using iWork.com as it prohibits uploading anything larger than 50 slides. Emailing these don't work either (I get the message as the email attachment is too large). Ideally, I'd like to somehow integrate Keynote with iDisk or Good Reader or Dropbox, etc. Is there anyway I can do this? I don't think I'm missing anything, but just wanted to ask.

Apart from the above - Import ppt slides to Cap 4 > export this to Flash >publish > this gives individual swfs > import these back into Cap 4.
Oh yeah - and then HOPE that somewhere along the line that the font colours haven't changed and any animations still work.
I think I shall be sticking with Cap 3.
(mind you i did notice that the FULL version of Camtasia Studio costs as much as the Cap 4 upgrade. I dont know how well this can handle ppt slides but may be worth a look.....)

  • Is there a way to import large XML files into HANA efficiently are their any data services provided to do this?

    1. Is there a way to import large XML files into HANA efficiently?
    2. Will it process it node by node or the entire file at a time?
    3. Are there any data services provided to do this?
This for a project use case i also have an requirement to process bulk XML files, suggest me to accomplish this task

    Hi Patrick,
I am addressing the similar issue. "Getting data from huge XMLs into Hana."
Using Odata services can we handle huge data (i.e create schema/load into Hana) On-the-fly ?
    In my scenario,
I get a folder of different complex XML files which are to be loaded into Hana database.
Then I gotta transform & cleanse the data.
Can I use oData services to transform and cleanse the data ?
If so, how can I create oData services dynamically ?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Is the only way to import large amount of data and database objects into a primary database is to shutdown the standby, turn off archive log mode, do the import, then rebuild the standby?

I have a primary database that need to import large amount of data and database objects. 1.) Do I shutdown the standby? 2.) Turn off archive log mode? 3.) Perform the import? 4.) Rebuild the standby? or is there a better way or best practice?

Instead of rebuilding the (whole) standby, you take an incremental (from SCN) backup from the Primary and restore it on the Standby.  That way, if, for example
    a. Only two out of 12 tablespaces are affected by the import, the incremental backup would effectively be only the blocks changed in those two tablespaces (and some other changes in system and undo) {provided that there are no other changes in the other ten tablespaces}
    b. if the size of the import is only 15% of the database, the incremental backup to restore to the standby is small

  • Canon IXUS 950 won't import large AVI files into iPhoto

The new canon Ixus 950 IS wont import large (over 50mb) AVI files in iPhoto, why not?
They sit on the SD card and then sometimes subsequent pics and video's don't upload.
If there are say, 3 x 40mb files they dont upload either... After waiting ages the box pops up, unable to import.
I can individually import the AVI files under 50mb
I also note that the hard drive icon for the camera does not appear on the desktop or the finder so I could not 'drag' them in either...
    Any ideas?
    David

I have a similar problem with importing large AVIs from my Canon A610. iPhoto would import everything else (usually) except the large AVIs, which it claims is unreadable. In this particular case (~470MB file), it plays in QuickTime, I've resaved it using QT (still won't import) and converted it from MJPEG to Cinepak (still won't import). I'm now considering cutting the AVI up into smaller chunks and importing those... but any other options before that?
Misc computer details: Main HD is 120GB with 30 for Boot Camp, 80 remains for Mac OS X, but the iPhoto Library is on an external HD (also 120GB, same model as internal HD except not SATA) formatted to FAT32. Would 10.4.11 make a difference here?

  • RoboHelp freezing when importing large word docs

What are your experiences with RoboHelp for HTML Help when
    importing large Word docs?
Mine seems to stop responding and has to be restarted. Also,
creating PDFs for large docs seems to be a problem.
While I am here, could someone please answer these questions:
    1. Does RoboHelp support conditional inclusion/exclusion and
replacement of text? Where you can use a condition to display one
    text OR another.
    2. Does Robo support Modular Help?
    3. What about automating output generation using batch files?
    Is this possible?
    4. Can PDF outputs be customized using templates?
it looks like Robo offers partial solutions to each of the
above questions but I will like to hear your experiences, as I am
on evaluation the tool with limited time.
    TIA.

  • Potential problems of burning a large quantity of CD's on Mac mini

At my work, we have Intel Mac mini's running Windows XP. One of my managers want a few of us to burn 220 CD's from our mini's instead of paying for CD duplication. Is there any potential problems in burning such a large quantity of CD's?

While the slot loading drives used in the Mac mini (and other Apple systems) are not the most robust, they are not fragile devices and should not be assumed to be incapable of use in a broadly similar pattern of demand as any other drive. Where they do suffer is in being relatively slow in performance and relatively fussy in media compatibility compared to tray loading devices. As long as you have patience, don't force the disks in (or out) and use media the drives 'like', 220 burns over 6 months should be within the drive's capabilities.
I do agree with the previous comments that it would make more sense, given the cost of an external burner, to use such a device instead, but that's as much to do with the fact that the improved burn performance and reliability would save more in labor time (and potentially media) than the drive would cost!

  • Large Image Zoom Slider not working

Can anyone help with why my Large Image Zoom slider doesn't work? I've followed instructions as per tag: {tag_largeimage,zoom,width,height} I have dimensions at 310 and 220. Image looks ok but slider desn't move and image doesn't get bigger...

Has anyone had any luck with fixing this issue? I am using the perfume template with the same issue.
If it is the lightbox.js how would I disable it and how would it affect my site?
Also just want to confirm I am doing this right. I have a large image 800px x 800px. My tag is {tag_largeimage,zoom,375,375}. So this would mean the product image is viewed at 375px x 375px but should zoom to 800px x 800px?
    Thanks in advance

  • Is it possible to successfully import large Entourage databases into Mail?

    Hi:
Perusing lots of threads, it looks like Mail has some issues importing large Entourage databases; my Entourage Identity is about 6 GB.
The most current of the threads I saw was a few months old. Does anyone know if Apple has recently found a way to import these large files successfully, preserving the subfolder hierarchy and getting all of the messages transferred?
The other alternative for me is just to start with Mail fresh and run Entourage in a parallel fashion for half a year or so, until I no longer regularly need to use Entourage, but I'd prefer the more elegant approach.
    Thank you!

Char did the suggested solution work? I suspect not - but if it did please confirm. I've also been trying to import large business use mail databases from entourage 2004 & 2008 into Mail without much luck. In one case it took 12 separate imports because each would fail after successfully importing a few folders. After each fail I needed to logout the user and login again in order for Mail to "find" the entourage mail file again. As a final step I had to reassemble, from the import folders, the previous file structure by drag and drop. Complete pain and the result is questionable no matter how carefully I do this. Without a good import solution we will have to stick with entourage 2008 or upgrade to the new version of Outlook 2011. Disappointing performance from apple Mail on this.

  • Error Message when trying to "import larger size" menue Option

This is the error I get when I try to use the otion to Import Larger Size...
Also the animation displays correctly in the Prieview in browser function, and in Prieview, however it does not work on the published test server.
I only imagine these problems are linked......
Any help is appreciated, thanks in Advance
Also mobile mesponsive page attributes and background images do not display correctly (IOS tested only).
Is there a work around for any of these issues?

    Hi Plonta,
Based on our findings, the error appears when using an Edge animation whose stage size was increased while preserving the same poster image. To confirm this, try the following steps:
Go to Edge app and capture another poster image (without chaning the stage size)
    From Edge republish the animation
Switch back to Muse and update the asset (if you publish from Edge in the same location, the Assets panel in Muse will display a little exclamation mark letting you know that the animation is out of date; use right-click -> Update Asset to update it).
This will hide the menu option "Import Larger Size" which was only supposed to work for images (we'll remove it for Edge animations in a future release since it makes no sense).
Regarding the other issue - preview (in Muse) not working - can you please send the Edge file you're using to [email protected] along with a link to this topic. If your file is > 20MB, please use a file sharing service like SendThisFile or Adobe SendNow.
    Thanks!

  • After Effects stops responding when importing larger video

Although this is likely a common topic, I've searched just about everywhere for an answer to this new problem I'm experiencing and I have had no luck.
Just recently, out of the blue, when I try to import larger (100+mb) quicktime videos into after effects the program stops responding and it doesn't give me an error message.  Smaller 2mb videos import without a problem but I can't even drag a large video into the comp without it closing down on me.  I've imported 400 rpf pictures in sequence which was 1gb and it worked fine but larger videos just shut it down.  I've tried the following:
    - adjusting my OpenGL settings.
    - removing my gl plugin
    - adjusting my texture memory
    - resetting preferences back to default
    - purged my image and video memory
    - cleared all the caches
    - re-installed quicktime and made sure it was the correct version
    - re-installed after effects (cs5.5) version 10.5.5.253
    - reduced resolution
    - swore loudly and cried uncontrolably
I have used this videos many times in the past without problem it just seems that all of a sudden the video is too big making the program shut down.
I'm on Windows 7 Intel quad core processor
    16gb ram
Grapics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 (4064mb ram)
I've checked the graphics card and I'm running the most up to date version.
I hope I have provided enough information.  I appreciate any help in advance.
    Andrew

Well, I'd back up all your data first, if you haven't already. You should be doing that all along anyway. (Don't forget things like Photoshop brushes, Animation presets, etc. in your Adobe folders.)
Alright, before we go crazy, I would Google around for instructions on how to completely remove K-Lite.
If, you follow that and it's still messing up, the second thing I would do is to uninstall all your Adobe software.
Then run the CS Cleaner Adobe provides on their website.
    Uninstall Quicktime.
Download and install a new version of Quicktime 7 (NOT Quicktime X).
And then reinstall your Creative Suite software.
If, after those steps, it still doesn't work, then you are going to have to go nuclear.
The first step is to back up all of your data. Documents, fonts, project files, stock footage libraries, music, animation presets, project templates, etc. Anything that you've added to the computer (except for programs).
Your computer either came with recovery disks or the ability to create them. Make the disks if you haven't already.
Put them in and reboot the machine. It should give you an option to wipe out everything and install a clean version of Windows. You will then have to reinstall your programs (NOT k-lite ) and put all your files back on the machine.

  • How do I return a large quantity of iTunes gift cards? They are $10.00 British Pound cards.

I have a large quantity of $10.00 British Pound iTunes gift cards. They are new in the box. I have several boxes unscratched with 50 cards per box. We purchased them for a corporate program. How do I return them or find someone to buy them?

You will indeed need another email address, but you just then set up the account as you did your current one. You can use your daughter's gift card to set up the account. I'd suggest you give each child his/her own user account in Windows, if you haven't already. That will give them each their own iTunes library and keep each child's purchases completely separate.
As to the existing content, once you've set up the user account for your daughter, just copy the content you want your daughter to have from your current iTunes library to a shared location (either on the computer or on removable storage such as a USB flash drive or an external hard drive), log into your daughter's user account, launch iTunes, and drag the content into the iTunes window. Then just authorize that copy of iTunes to that iTunes Store account (Store menu -> Authorize) and she'll be able to continue to play and sync that content. Log her into her own iTunes Store account for future purchases.
    Regards.
