    Hi
I have a mdl file which is generated by OWB 10g, when i am importing it to OWB 11g it is giving message that please check if the disk is not full of write protected. i have given the access privilage to oralce folder.
    i am using windows vista
    Please help

    Do yo
u have the software installed from a different user executing the software? If a different user, does the user have access to the sub-directories under owb\bin for write?
Also the directory where the MDL file is being imported from is where by default the log file will be, you can change this directory to somewhere you can write.

  • Problems in importing MDL File

    Hello,
I want to import MDL file into OWB repository using ombplus. But I want to import only selective objects. I see that there is an option in UI to import selective objects. But I couldnot find any ombplus option.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Madhavi

    Hello,
To select some of the objects of your MDL, you have to use a TCL script including OMB language syntax in which you'll give the names of the objects that you want to import. It works in the same way for whatever you want to do.
Feel free to read others subjects in which I participated because I gave a lot of TCL scripts examples.
    Hope it'll help you.

  • Import excel file into owb automatically, is it possible?

Is it possible to load several excel files in owb automatically?

    Is it possible?
    Thanks

The forum is how to integrate foreign databases into an oracle database using gateway. From the provided description you're trying to import an Excel file directly into OWB. OWB has its own mechanism to import these files , so better post your issue in the OWB forum:

  • MDL files not readable in OWB 10gR2?

I have exported an MDL file in OWB 10gR2 for an entire OWB Project (using Design -> Export -> Warehouse Builder Metadata in the Design Center). I noticed that the resulting MDL file is not in readable ASCII format (unlike previous releases such as OWB 9i).
    Is this the expected behaviour?
I guess it doesn't really matter what format it is in, since I was able to delete a table from the repository using the Design Center GUI and then re-create it in the repository by importing my MDL file.

Alas, it seems that the export is now a binary file. This probably has some real benefits somewhere, but I for one am not keen on it. There have been scenarios where I had to alter the MDL file manually to re-import it, but should such an occation present itself again, I won't be able to.
Not that I have been able to migrate to 10gR2 yet, due to a bug, that I might be able to fix myself if I had access to plaintext MDL file ...

ThanksFirst you need to have DB created at target only then you would able to import the dump taken from source. You can create similar tablespace as were is source to avoid errors(if directory structure is different at target).
You can create database by dbca or manually.

It might also be the MDL file you are trying to import. How was it exported with dependencies, or not? This might be the problem depending on the environment it is exported from and imported into.
    Give this a try;
Create a dummy mapping, any will do.
    Save your changes.
Export only this mapping and ensure export dependencies is not checked.
    Delete the mapping
    Save your changes.
Try importing this mapping back in to the same environment share with us the results.

  • OWB - Importing a specific mapping from a MDL file

    Hello,
I have a requirement to import a mapping into OWB design repository.
I have a MDL file which contains the export of around 100 mappings and all I need is only one mapping out of the MDL file.
I don't want to import the MDL file as a whole bcoz it will replace all the other mappings too..
Pls suggest any solutions for this,.
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi Parthy,
We are using the version - 10.1.0.4.0 . As you said the option is available only in 10gR2 or later versions, any other alternate solutions are there??Alternative is to use [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B12146_01/importexport.htm#g1122273]import command line utility or OMBIMPORT MDL_FILE command from OMBPlus

  • Error While Importing a MDL file

    Hi Guys,
Here I have a requirement of cloning one module of UAT system as like Prod. I exported the MDL file of that module and trying to import into UAT. The UAT system already has that module, but I want to override the existing mappings.
When I try to import, OWB is throwing an error.
To give brief about the actual items, I have a Project (FFH1) in Prod and one of the modules (STG1) need to be copied.
    Here below the error Message:
    MDL1261: Error importing PROJECT FFH1.
    Detailed Error Message:
MDL1406: Cannot import PROJECT with physical name <FFH1> matching by object identifier because a PROJECT <FFH> with the same business name <FFH_1_3> but different object identifier already exists.
Import ended at Oct 12, 2009 12:58:20 PM
Can any one suggest me How to overcome this error Or How to achieve my requirement of copying a single module to another repository.

    Hi
i have got a similar error - the difference is that I have one repository and one of the mappings was deleted. When I tried to import it from an export which was taken earlier in the day and no change was made to any of the mappings in the project except the action of the offending mapping been deleted I got the following error:

I then tried to do the import matching on name but got the following error.

This attributes that the messages are referring to are columns in a table and I can't see where I can change a business name and physical name of a column in a table. What I don't understand is that this mapping created ok, deployed, ran and was included in an export and at no time did an error appear. It first appeared when trying to import it back into the project.
Has anyone got any ideas how I could get this mapping imported?
    Thanks

but we are able to import the same mdl in the other enviorment. Can someone tell me why the r12rfrmp.mdl is having the problem in first enviorment.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi carsten,
All the owb sessions are closed.Actually this enviorment is used by our QAand dev also uses it for checking the bug. And since we dont have APPS password for this we are not getting what owb objects are locked. According to owb team suggestions we have bounced the db but still its not working. i am not getting that why only one mdl is giving the lock error but the other mdls are getting imported sucessfully.

Does the import into 10.1 work?
You may try to migrate to owb 10r2 first. Then export again and import into 11.1.
