Importing multiple m3u playlists and automatic adding

I just bought a new ipod so i'm trying to get my media player library to itunes. I create a lot of playlist, all in m3u format and i want them to be compatible with itunes. The only thing I managed to do is to import 1 playlist at a time, selecting them all doesn't work. Moving them from explorer to itunes doesn't work either.
is there a way to get all my playlists in Itunes in 1 go? Also is there some sort of 'watch folder' option that automaticly adds new playlists? As a die hard WMP user I kind of assumed that this was standard..

A playlist is simply a list of songs.
In order for iTunes to put a song on a playlist, it must be in the library.
I don't quite understand what you mean. But iTunes does put the songs in an imported m3u playlist in the library and create an iTunes playlist. The problem is that there is no way to import multiple m3u playlists at the same time while keeping the lists separeate. Right now, it merges the lists into one.

  • Importing multiple m3u playlists to iTunes

    Hi,
I just downloaded the new iTunes 7. I was hoping that now I can import multiple m3u playlists to iTunes. I have a big collection of mp3 and m3u files and the lack of a way to import the playlists makes iTunes pretty much unusable and the prospect of buying an iPod remote.
The Import dialog allows me to choose only one file. If I drag and drop more than one m3u files to iTunes, it just merges the playlists into one (this is a VERY stupid design if you ask me.)
I am dissapointed that it seems this is unchanged in the new version.
Please someone tell me that there's a way to do this.

  • How do I import existing .m3u playlists to the Zen Mic

I imported all of my PC-based .m3u playlists into the MediaSource Organizer. The playlist names now appear under "My Playlists" in the Organizer, but I can't import them into the player! When I double click an imported playlist nothing happens and when I trie to drag and drop them to the player's playlist folder it freezes up for 30 seconds but nothing happens.

  • Add multiple .m3u playlists into itunes library

is there any way to add multiple .m3u files to itunes library so they result in multiplay playlist instead of a big playlist? thanks

I haven't done it, but the approach to try would be to CTRL-click them, so that multiple of them are highlighted, and them drag them to the word PLAYLISTS. Try it with two and see if it works before you do it with more.

  • How to extract an mp3's url from m3u playlist (and download the file)?

    hello!
I've managed to get automator to retrieve (and save to hdd) an .m3u playlist from a radio's website that broadcasts a program I like in mp3.
inside this m3u playlist is the link an actual mp3... both the m3u and the mp3 change every week.
If I drag the m3u to TextEdit it opens up and I can see the 3 lines of "source code" of which the last line is the full url of the mp3 file (http://www.thatradiosurl.com/audio/shownumber.mp3)
My question is as follows: how do I get automator to 'extract' that url and save that file to my hard drive (so I can automatically add it to a playlist in itunes (and retrieve the show on my ipod at sync))??
I'll save the final workflow as an iCal event that will hopefully grab this show every week.
before you ask... no, that show is not available as a podcast! I wish it were... I think they're a bit slow on catching up with the tech.
    thanks to all!

    Hi!
You might have seen this post in the Automator part
of the forum... but I might have posted it in the
wrong place (got no interest:( )
I've managed to get automator to retrieve (and save
to hdd) an .m3u playlist from a radio's website that
    broadcasts a program I like in mp3.
inside this m3u playlist is the link to an actual mp3
file... both the m3u and the mp3 change every week.

line is the full url of the mp3 file (http://www
    .thatradiosurl.com/audio/show-shownumber.mp3)
You already got the playlist into a text file, you have two options:
    1. use Automator's 'Get Link URLs from Webpages' action to extract the URL. 'Get Link URLs from Webpages' is under Safari lib.
    2. run Automator Python script from 'Get Link URLs from Webpages' in AppleScript. The script below with get your mp3 URLs:
set playlist_file to "/path/to/playlist/file.txt" -- change to your actual playlist file path
    set _URLs to do shell script "/System/Library/Automator/Get\\ Link\\ URLs\\ from\\ Webpages.action/Contents/Resources/links file://" & quoted form of playlist_file
    set mp3_URLs to ""
repeat with _URL in paragraphs of _URLs
if _URL contains ".mp3" then set mp3_URLs to mp3_URLs & _URL & (ASCII character 10)
    end repeat
mp3_URLs is the list you want you extract.

  • I'm having a problem syncing playlists and manually adding music

I've been having this problem for awhile, but it's become more pronounced now that I'm trying to add outside mp3's saved to my itunes library to my iphone. I've followed the directions to add music manually and I check the playlist I want added to my phone when I sync, but it never adds it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot sync and manually manage.

  • M3u playlist and advertising component

    Hello,
When i use a playlist, the player does not call the ad plugin before each video. It seems that the plugin is only called once before the playlist starts. I would like it to call the ad plugin each time a playlist item loads. I am using acudeo plugin but i would suspect the issue is the same with the vast component. Can anybody help here ? the factory should load the plugin for each playlist item before it plays it.
    Yapoli

I am still facing the same issue but do not know what files to modify. If someone can help, i would appreciate it.
    It seems that :
    1. plugins are loaded in StrobeMediaPlayback.as [lines 232-239]; on line 349 we properly create the mediaElement "media = factory.createMediaElement(resource);" which is fine when one has one video to play; the factory is properly set then;
    2. when the m3u playlist is loaded, the first element will be tagged to that factory and all plugins will be working; the issue arises when the second element of the playlist kicks in ... I don't know how but the factory is being reset.
I think we should use the factory created in StrobeMediaPlayback.as. The question is, how to do that ? What files should i need to modify and where ?

  • Importing my m3u playlists to my ipod

    Hello
I have exported my ipod play lists in "m3u" format.
How do I import them back?
I tried impoprting them once using i tunes it has imported the list name but the play list had no songs
    thanks in advance

I found the answer to this, but not on these forums. I found it somewher eout there in intenet-land.
I can now import M3U files. The way to do this is to not 'import' them, nor 'add' the mto your library from within iTunes. The way to do it is to bring u pthe finder and drag the M3U file into the 'playlists' section of the iTunes GUI.
    Good luck

  • How can I import an m3u playlist into iTunes that intentionally contains duplicate tracks? I want the duplicates in this case.

For instance, if my M3u file looks like the 2 lines below, only one copy of the mp3 file is imported. I'd like the same track to be imported twice.
    Back To Black.mp3
    Back To Black.mp3
btw, the reason I'd like this to work is that I use a separater track in playlists between groups of similar tracks. This separater is not being imported correctly as is being unhelpfully recognised as an unwanted duplicate.
    Any advice appreciated.

    I just did the following.
Created a m3u file with a series of tracks with one entry duplicated.
Made a new empty playlist in a test iTunes library which did not contain the files and dragged the m3u file to that playlist.
It created a duplicate playlist entry for that one duplicated track but of course it points to the same file.  If you really want iTunes to duplicate the file you will have to trick it into thinking it is a different file.  Using your library management preferences (which are identical to mine) you will have to duplicate the file in Finder so you really do have two files and add it again.  Perhaps if iTunes was managing the media it would not behave that way and might add the file twice since dragging to iTunes with default preferences settings just places a copy on the iTunes folder and leaves the original in place, so you'd be dong hte equivalent of dragging twice (I'd have to test to check this since I don't use default settings either).  With your settings it just refers to the original wherever it is.  Hopefully I've phrased that well enough.

  • Smart Playlists and Automatically Increasing a Track's Play Count

Any one know if there is a way to increase the play count of a track once it has been selected and included in a Smart Play List. Why? I have 92 GBs of music or 16, 665 songs on an external hard drive and I have an 8 GB mp3 player that I fill up every couple of weeks with music and I'd rather not hear repeated tracks. What I would like to do is include the rule in a Smart Play List that any track that has a play count of "0" is added to the Smart Play List without the risk that a track had already been added to that Smart Play List in the past. Any suggestions?

Haven't seen this myself, but then again I don't have any rated songs with no Last Played date.  A couple of suggestions:
1- Try a Reset or Restore of the iPhone.
2- In your smart playlist criteria, add "Media Kind is Music".  Strange, but sometimes this nudges a smart playlist into behaving.
3- Modify your criteria as follows:
    Match All:
    - Media Kind Is Music
    - Rating > 3
    (indent) ----> Match Any:
.....................- Last Played Not in the Last 8 weeks
    .....................- Playcount is 0
That will "OR" the zero playcounts with songs that have not been played in the last 8 weeks, and "AND" all those with the required criteria of 4 or 5 stars as well as Media Kind being Music.  If you don't know how to "indent" the criteria, click on the elipses (...) to the right of the last criteria you entered, and be sure to change the overall criteria to Match Any for the indented portion.

  • RemoteFX and automatically adding devices to Remote Desktop session

    Hi all,
We've implemented an RDS session host deployment (using Server 2012 R2) and have configured RemoteFX, but although the devices show when clicking on the RemoteFX devices button in the connection bar, we're wanting to have these automatically enabled
so users don't have to manually select the devices to map through to their RDS sessions.
Are there some group policies that can be set to set to do this?  I've had a look around, but everything I'm finding is for RDS 2008 where I'm unable to get to the old RDS admin tools to configure.
Still looking around for answers elsewhere in the meantime, but hoping someone else might be able to shed some light on this.
    Thanks!

    Hello, CyntaxEra
    First of all check policy
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Connection Client\RemoteFX
USB Device Redirection set Allow RDP redirection of other supported RemoteFX USB devices from this computer to
    Enabled on RD clients.
Then, edit .rdp files used to connect RDS with notepad and add line
    usbdevicestoredirect:s:*
This will force redirect in RD session all supported RemoteFX USB devices.
    Learn

    that.

  • How do i stop Itunes auto creating playlists and auto playing imports?

HELP NEEDED - My PC crashed so i rebuilt with Windows 7, installed the latest itunes and so far so good. I then had to import my music library, first thing i noticed which it never did before, when i import folders it will automatically create a playlist for some of those imports, it doesn't create a playlist for every folder or album only some almost as if the smart playlist option is activated...how do i stop this happening? Second, when i import a folder Itunes autoplays the first song in each folder as it imports so it may play 2 seconds of a song or it may play a full song depending on the size of the folder, very annoying and because i have around 100 GB of music to import very very frustrating.
    Thanks,
    D

The current build of iTunes (10.4.1.10) appears to have a couple of issues with M3U playlists. The first is that when you import an M3U playlist, the list is created, and any files not already in the library it are added to it, but for some reason they just don't get added to the playlist. Secondly, when adding folders to the library, iTunes is also attempting to add any M3U playlists that it finds as well as any other valid media files not already in the library. The upshot is that iTunes may create a bunch of empty playlists corresponding to any M3U files you have scattered through your folders.
Use iTunes Folder Watch to scan your media folders for new files (and also for dead tracks) to avoid the issue. This is a more effective way of importing new media than simply adding in the entire media folder over and over again.
If you already have empty playlists you are struggling to delete manually then I've written a script for just that purpose called KillEmptyPlaylists.
As and when the time comes that you do want to import an M3U playlist then I have written another script to workaround the current difficulty called ImportM3U which does just what it says. It will also convert and add any WMA files present in the list on the fly whereas iTunes would normally ignore these.

  • I cannot import m3u playlists

When I try to import a m3u playlist into iTunes using File/Library/Import Playlist, the playlist is imported but his empty.  It seems to be related to the update to 10.4.  Does anybody know if there's an issue with this?  Is Apple working on a fix?

I'm struggling with this problem as well. The "file://locahost/m:" prefix works for me. (All my music is on Linux machines and is made available by Samba to my last Windoze PC (which I must keep for iTunes).)
    I noticed something else:
While testing, I used a playlist that was already in iTunes. That existing iTunes playlist is kept in a directory (Music) within the playlist area. Whenever I import a unchanged M3U playlist, the imported M3U playlist will silently be ignored and the existing iTunes list is 'used' instead. The imported M3U playlist will show up as an empty list...
This threw me off - I was thinking there was something wrong with the pathnames I tried.
It's actually OK - now I can just drag my 60 Music and 20 Speech playlists and iTunes will 'compare' them. The ones that turn out to be different will show up outside the existing directories (Music, Speech).
It would be nice(r) if the normal DOS style pathnames would be accepted again (m:\genre\artist\album\track.mp3).

  • Import m3u playlist into creative zen V p

    Hi,
Quick & dirt: does exist any way to import an m3u playlist into my zen V+?
I tried the "import external playlist" feature in mediaorganizer, but when I try to transfer an error message is prompted: "not enough space on device", it's like the MO is trying to phisically transfer the files into the player rather the playlist, wich is supposed to be an index of files...
How do I do transfer just the playlist? Am I allowed to perform such operation?

At this point I'm start to thinking that importing an esternal playlist ain't the right way to create and manage a playlist on zen V.
Well, just to know: what do you folks use to index / group certain songs in your library? I use media monkey to manage my huge library (50 Gb circa), and i rather use one single mediaplayer just not to mess with such library than -say- media monkey *and* creative mediaplayer.
Also i'm using smart SW named 'music IP mixer' to easily create playlists on the go in a nice way, even nicer would be to use the same playlists on my zen, but I didn't work it out since.
And, talking about nice things, that would be fantastic if someone from the tech staff would nicely answer to this very simple question: am I allowed to usem3u indexes on my zen V+?
    Thank you.

  • Outlook recipient added randomly and automatically

One user in our exchange organization is randomly and automatically added to the TO or the CC field when a sender is sending e-mail. This sometimes happens when a new mail is started and more often, but NOT always when someone replies to an e-mail. Because it is happening often and with various users we ruled out that it has something to do with the autofill option in Outlook.
searching internet did not come up with any similar problem.
    Exchange 2003, outlook 2003
At this moment we only know this occurring with only one recipient. But not sure because this kind of errors are not always reported, one can think it is a mistake one made by himself, outlook autofill.

    Hi Pieter,
I am sorry for delay in response.
As the issue occurs randomly and cannot always be reproduced, I would like to explain that we may take a long time to troubleshoot and narrow down the issue.
I think the issue can be caused by two factors:
    1. The Outlook add the specific recipient to To/CC list when submit the message to Exchange Server
    2. The Exchange server add the specific recipient to To/CC list when process the message.
As when the issue occurs, the specific recipient can be located in the message in the Send Items folder of the sender. I suspect the issue may related to Outlook Client. I suggest we attempt the following steps on a problem sender client which the issue occurs mostly frequently to troubleshoot the issue:
    Step 1: Disable Outlook 2003 third-party Add-ins
    ============================
    1. Launch Outlook application.
    2. Click Tools --> Options, click Other tab.
    3. Click Advanced Options.
    4. Click COM Add-Ins button.
    5. Uncheck All Add-ins.
    6. Backup these registry entries and then delete them one by one.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Addins
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Addins
Note: If some of them are not existed, please ignore.
Step 2: Clear corrupted Rules by using MFCMapi tool:
    ====================================
You can refer to following article:
How to delete corrupted and hidden rules from a single mailbox in Outlook 2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924297/en-us
Note: If it is possible, I suggest that you do not import the rules to the Outlook 2003 temporarily for test purpose. Nevertheless, if we need to import rules to Outlook 2003, please check whether any sending message rules (Apply this rule after I send the message) are configured. If the rules are configured, please delete them to check the result.
Step 3: Please start Outlook by using /Safe switch and monitor whether the issue occurs again.
Step 4: Check if 3rd party DLL files exist by using Process Explorer on the client
    =================================
    1) Download Process Explorer from the following site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx
    2) Launch Outlook application.
    3) Run Process Explorer as administrator, accepted license.
    4) Locate to outlook.exe, and select Outlook.exe, click view --> Lower Pane View --> DLLS, and then click “Company Name” to sort by company name.
    5) Check if there are any third-party company’s add-ins still exist.
In addition, please enable message tracking on the exchange server (I assume that you have only one Exchange server in the environment).
In case the issue occurs again, please help me gather the related message tracking log to me at [email protected]. Please also let me know:
    1. The Sender name and email address
    2. The recipient name and email address
    3. The problem message id
    4. The “Not Intended” user name and email address
    Thanks,
    Mike
PS: Would you please let me know how often the issue occurs normally?
